Salute and appreciate very much to all the volunteers managing and maintaining all these beautiful miniature trains. They are all very helpful and friendly. Take extra miles to take care the under previledge. We took 2 rounds of the ride! Be prepared for the long queue for at least 30 minutes to 40 minutes! Other than the ride, there is a copper butterfly park for the kids. Noticed all the kids love the place so much. One can walk further to the creek for a nature walk and some garden bird watching.

Bill Rogan This is such a fun place, especially for kids. The train rides are cheap at only $5 for adults and go for a long time, so great value. There are food outlets there for a quick bite and playground also. There is parking and the oval and bbq facilities also if you want to make a day of it. Highly recommended.

MARIA JOCELYN NASAYAO Wonderful unique experience. Love the sound of the trains. Staff are very knowledgable and kind. The area is well maintained. There is also a playground and bbq nearby.

Kylie S A great day out for the whole family, I highly recommend. Especially for those who are interested in trains. We rode on a diesel train for our 50 Minute ride. Which my 12 year old son thought was plenty. They even had two tunnels which were a little dark but not too dark for those concerned about the darkness. We were lucky enough to have everyone scream on the way through both though. Plus as an extra bonus my 14 year old son asked if he could look at the parked trains up close and they took him for a small guided tour of them and he learned so much in the short period of time. On a beautiful day like we had they can be very busy. So about an hours wait in line is to be expected. A food van a truck meant something to eat is near by for those who get hungry.

Jade Rosina McCutcheon Just my favourite walk ever. Seems to go for 4 or 5 klms. I came across it by accident, being new to Ballarat. Its just like taking a comfortable bush walk. No huge inclines or steps. Wide path, you can take your dog on a leash and bicycle along it as well. A very healing, relaxing thing to do.

Peter Phillips Footy and Cricket oval located adjacent as well as walking and cycling trails. Good amount of parking and cool for kids to watch the train pass overhead.

Bhagesh Chauhan This place is well maintained by the club. Nice facilities provided to the young players and keeps them motivated to come to the field. Canteen and restrooms are well maintained. Got BBQ options so if it’s nice and sunny you can have nice BBQ. Parking could be an issue as I don’t see much space there for the parking and most of the people have their cars parked on the nature strip.

The oval is great to kick a footy around and there are some some great bike tracks too. I found one single trail, but Im guessing there may be more. This park has lots to offer for all ages and is one of our favourites

Ngakeone Love the fact there are 3 separate areas so small or anxious dogs can be separate from the main group. Lots of responsible owners. Plenty of space for dogs to zoom and catch balls. My dog loves it.

Karen Edwards Visited specifically to see the Diamond Valley Railway. Eltham Lower Park is a beautiful setting for this very popular attraction. Oval, picnic area, walking trails. Was good to see the enormous amount of new planting that had been carried out. Great place to have a walk and take in the fresh air.

Darren Black A perfect blend of easy pathways and nature. Access the Yarra from here and keep eyes out as you may miss seeing someone like this who was just 2 meters of the path.

Andrew Guy Eltham Lower Park is a large park with great facilities and scenic natural bushland. Three different sites are available for picnics; the western end (within the rail loop) has tables and shelter. The northen playground has great equipment, shelters tables, toilets and BBQs. The southern site is quietest and has basic play equipment, toilets, tables, shade cloth and BBQs. The bike/walking track provides access along the creek and into Eltham. Highlight is of course the marvellous Diamond Valley Railway.

Chris Bray I had seen this on social media on a couple of occasions and am so glad that we decided to go here and check it out. It is an interesting amalgamation of architectural designs and the overall vision of the whole community is incredible. Its like stepping into some sort of European fairytale area with a mix of gothic, French and 18t Century design. Created predominantly by two artistic families, it is something totally unique. We spent a good couple of hours exploring the grounds and different buildings and garden, and then had a light bite to eat in the cafe there too. A great experience that we talked about for a long time after.

Bill Montsalvat is a beautiful oddity, and that’s exactly what makes it so special. Wandering through its stone halls, leafy courtyards, and farmyard stables feels like stepping into another time (or several times, even. Owing to the mix of architectural styles). It’s a mix of medieval whimsy and rustic charm, which somehow fits perfectly with its purpose as a sanctuary for creativity. There’s something a little magical about the place, like it was built for dreaming and daydreaming. Highly recommended if you like your culture with a touch of eccentricity.

Karam Devnani This place is beautiful. Takes you back in time. Theres some sort of comfort being there. It was quiet and lots of open spaces where you can enjoy and relax. Explore the place and the art at your own pace. There are some peacocks in the wild in the area so keep an eye out for them!

Reviews Jordan Great location beautiful at all times of the year. Makes for a great walk for the whole family. Personally this is one of my favourite places to go it’s nice to see the wildlife as well as the natural vegetation.

Mark Aidan Good place to go for a walk or run. More about the pathways than going off them but there are some green open areas and picnic tables and the like.

Greg Moloney On the Yarra river at Eltham. A wonderful spot to visit and sit by the river. There are no picnic facilities or public conveniences here. The area remains in its natural state. This spot was my swimming hole in the 1950/60s. It hasn’t changed. It’s a short, steep walk down to the river. The no dogs etc sign relates to the Parks Victoria managed area.

Samuel Reider Went fishing here in the afternoon for an hour and a half but didnt catch any fish. There are a few little unmarked trails to small sandbanks. They are a bit slippery and quite steep though.

Hayley Young Such a beautiful place to go for a short walk. Theres no toilets or any facilities. Its a fairly flat nature walk.

Lee Tan The tracks are not well marked but the scenery is stunning and worth the effort of getting there and doing the walk. The bush is in decent condition with some weeds but the smell of eucalyptus is so sweet and the sound of flowing water so tranquil.

J H A very scenic spot, great for bike rides and walks with the family. If your going there to fish then dont bother, there are more fish in the Sahara desert than at Sweeneys lane...
