James M. The office manager is rude and doesn’t care. I had a bill for $35 and I called about it and was told I would receive a call the following Monday. I had to call back after not receiving a call for over 3 months. She was rude right from the get go. There’s no need for that kind of attitude in your line of work. If you’re unhappy you should find another place to work.

Oceana The best place to be with an emergency that can be handled at an Urgent Care facility! On March 10th my husband was seen at the clinic for a fairly deep puncture wound on his hand. He was immediately taken into an exam room and was given the necessary treatment. All personnel were helpful, courteous and professional. I want to mention Doctor Karen and Student trainee Haley who were his personal contact healthcare people but all staff were quick to offer any additional help. Thank you to Redwood Urgent Care.

Nebby Sanderson Ive taken both my Dad and my partner to Redwood Urgent Care where they received kind, empathetic and efficient care when time was of the essence. My partner who has suffered brain stem glioma that was recently discharged from radiation at UCSF, began aspirating and having breathing weakness. Local ERs claimed he had zero infection and was likely the crud (seriously!?) Appointments at local clinics can be too spaced out for serious issues. Redwood Urgent knew right away he had pneumonitis from the aspiration, prescribed the correct medications and basically saved his life. I will bring my loved ones here in the future going forward.

Ringo Burgess refused service during office hours not once but two days in a row. Came in just after 5 o’clock and tell the lady at the front desk all i need is a doctors note for work. i pretty much know what’s wrong with me. refuses to see me because they are closing early. come back the next day at 12:30 (lunch isn’t until 1) the same lady i saw the previous day greats me at the door with “all of our rooms are full and we’re trying to make lunch on time”. I tell her i was here yesterday and she proceeds to laugh in my face. i’m glad she thought it was funny. At my job if we have things to do that dip into our lunchtime we finish the job and have lunch after. I’m a street and utilities worker, we stick jobs out to not inconvenience others but apparently the medical facilities around here don’t mind doing just that to sick people.

Ellen Buzzard Ive been a patient of Redwood Community Health since they took over about 5 years ago. In all honesty, I was very unhappy with the services & care I had been receiving (if you could call it that) since they had taken over until about a year ago when I made an appointment with a new doctor that had just joined the practice. No matter what doctor I saw, none of them seemed to listen & all of them failed to address my medical concerns or put much effort in treating my conditions. I scheduled numerous appointments for the same conditions. The doctors I saw acted like they didnt want to be bothered, dismissed me or wrote off my medical problems on a variety of things I knew were not the cause. None of the doctors had any answers for me but that was no surprise when most of the time they didnt examine me or run any tests. They were all too happy to write me prescriptions that didnt help. 3 different times they prescribed prescriptions for me that I was allergic to & was noted in my chart. Luckily I caught all 3 errors prior to starting the medications. At one point I made an appointment after I came down with a nasty bug very quickly. I was seen by a nurse practitioner who lectured me for coming in when all I had was the flu (prior to COVID) instead of toughing it out & taking care of myself at home like most adults would do. A week later I went back because I was 10 times worse & was diagnosed with double pneumonia. Time after time the medical staff left me with the impression that helping & providing patients standard medical care was not a priority to them. When I made an appointment about a year ago, I was schedule to see Dr. Henry who was new to the practice. I had no more faith in him than I did the rest of the medical staff. That appointment with Dr. Henry was a game changer for me. He has done more for me in the last year than all the other doctors combined had done for me over a 4 year period. He is everything I expect from a doctor & more. WOW, what a difference a great doctor on top of his game can make.

Rachel It’s unfortunate that North Country Prenatal Services had to mesh into the Redwood Community Health Center. I have been receiving extended postpartum support from NCPS staff due to having postpartum difficulties. I’d missed a call about scheduling my next phone appointment to occur in 2-3 weeks, and attempted to call back. The lady at the front desk put me on hold whereby they hung up on me. I called back, and was told I had the wrong number, followed by them checking my mychart that showed they are the right office, she proceeded to tell me the person managing my care was booked, and I asked if I could speak with the person who had called me about scheduling. She feigned friendliness saying she’d put me on a brief hold to transfer me, and hung up. This never ever happened at NCPS, and given the postpartum difficulties I have been having this treatment made me feel so much worse. Thankfully it was someone else on my third call who got me to the right staff member, and there was availability after all to schedule my appointment.

Sarah Dixon Lets hope that this review dont get removed like the other ones have. Dr. Hunter needs to be fired. He abuses his power and is a misogynists. I will post a bit about my experience my whole history with him is too long to post and Id rather not post every detail I dont need to be attacked anymore for stating my experience. I also just recently learned that a member of his staff was fired for standing up to hunter because of something he had done to a patient. He fired him right away. Hunter does not like to be called out for the bad things he is doing to his patients. For years hes messed with me and my healthcare. As well as many other women. Ive talked to many women in person and In groups that have had a bad experience with him or with him not allowing his staff to get them the care they need. Ive been a patient of ECH for 12+ yrs and have a bunch of health issues that need attention. He had his staff take away a medication that was helping me feel better and able to leave my house. He refuses to let me change Drs the times he did I got stuck with the Drs that dont care. Ive recently tried to change Drs and my request disappeared according to multiple staff members we have talked too. Weve sent at least 10 request. Between myself and other women there have been multiple complaints turned in about his inappropriate behavior and abuse of power. I cant get any of my medical issues dealt with because he is messing with me and idk why. Ive seen him one time in the 10+ yrs Ive been a patient at open door. I know Im not the only one but I feel very attacked. My medical issues have gotten more severe over the years and he refuses to allow anybody to help me. Ive also noticed in my files that there is stuff notes written that are not true about me and its not fair that they are allowed to put false information in your files. Thankfully I keep all my records and had requested all my files over the years for my records. Due to all of these issues not being taken care of and the neglect by Dr. Hunter all these years I now have heart issues. His bosses need to takeall of our complaints more seriously and get him out of there. He is physically and emotionally, mentally messing with us and its a serious issue that needs to be taken care of. I have a friend that went information a visit for a UTI unfortunately he was apparently the only Dr available right away and when my friend got Into the room he came and didnt even bother to sit down he asked what was going on and she told him. He left the room and 5 minutes later a lady walked in. She was a therapist for open Door. He sent in a therapist to help her. He didnt come back until 5pm closing time and hour later. He didnt even come in the room he opened the door and peeked his head in and said he had to leave for a meeting and then left. He sent in a therapist for a uti appt. Thats ridiculous. Dont be fooled by the good reviews. They are a lie. If you do have a good experience with him then you are lucky and Id be sus about it because that means he most likely be watched after the many complaints against him.

Andrea Santamaria Things have gotten so bad lately. I am not sure if they dont have enough staff or what is going on but management has recently started "pushing to schedule patients with their main provider only" according to Denise. I submitted a message via MyChart and never got a reply. I just called and they refused to schedule me without my provider. Have various favorites nurses but some doctors and front desk people are just not helpful lately

Dude Whiting This is one of the best community health centers Ive been to. The staff are very nice, and the facility is very clean. Dr. McGraw is very nice, and took care in knowing what I was dealing with before I even had the blessing of meeting her. I would give 100stars if could. Thank you redwood community health center

David Quilantan Receptionist are rude and they keep you on hold for their convenience. I was called for an appointment by Open door because I was in emergency for my heart condition. I wasnt able to make it to my appointment however I asked them if they would be willing to make an appointment for me supposedly there was an appointment come to find out they never made one for me like they said they would have. With this place really needs is to record their phone calls. Im tired that my physical needs are not being met at this place theyre being taken lightly. They need to train these people. If you ask for a supervisor they should just transfer you over to a supervisor to speak with them not just hang up on you. I hope things get better at this place. Bad enough we really need good doctors and nurses here in this area. People who actually care about your health not just about the money theyre making.

Stephan St. Claire-Méfret Located in a beautiful location, off the waterfront trails. Clean. Wonderful staff from receptionists to nurses and other health professionals. Its organized by what they refer to as " pods", aka, waiting areas for your specific conditions. Its organized. The workers seem to take pride in their work and the doctors are dedicated. I recommend it, for pediatrics to general medicine, getting blood tests, and more. You can take a nice walk while you wait. Plenty of parking. Specifically for cars with children. I recommend it.

Sarah Pettit My son has been dealing with some pretty serious health concerns and everyone has been so amazing. Dr. Byrd is going above and beyond to find answers and is so patient with my little guy. The phlebotomists in the lab have been absolutely amazing, supportive and kind to my son while having his blood drawn. They make sure to thoroughly explain what they are going to do as well as talk him through the entire thing. I cannot praise everyone enough for their support and making things go smoothly.

Zachary Cochran Every damn month, I have to call these people up to request my medications be refilled, and EVERY DAMN MONTH, SOMETHING GOES WRONG. Ill inevitably end up having to call the pharmacy and see which medications they missed this time, then call back Open Door, tell them what they messed up, and hope that they fix their mistakes before I start violently throwing up stomach acid. I dont understand why its so difficult for them to just call in the medication, but they make my life way harder than it needs to be every single month, and if we had any better options for medical care in Humboldt, Id switch doctors in a heartbeat.

Shay Konradsdottir Providers are amazing, but their teams/administration have been poor. Im a type 1 diabetic, and require various prescriptions to keep me alive (insulin, glucagon) and functioning (technology, pump supplies). Although the appointments themselves are remarkable in the examination rooms, the prescriptions are failing to be filled, the suppliers are not receiving requested information, and this goes on for over a year at a time. I was without sensors for my final academic year because of this office refusing to check a box on a faxed form. I highly suggest anyone seeking diabetic healthcare to seek providers outside of the area. If you live in the area, dont leave their clinic until they hand you a paper prescription to bring to the pharmacy. Furthermore, I have been lied to over the phone and been given false information multiple times (such as phone numbers that dont exist). It shouldnt be hard to be transparent and honest with your customers. Ive read other peoples comments on this clinic and agree that there is an attitude problem with administration. Some of the medical receptionists roll their eyes and can become very demanding and intimidating, but I dont think thats worth such a negative review. I do think the lack of Health & Wellness the company supposedly provides is the bigger problem,

Michelle Kelly I went to this place cause I was having trouble breathing. Then they tried to charge me close to $8000 after they did virtually nothing. And before anyone says "thats just how much medical stuff costs" - no its not. They tried to charge over $1000 for a simple urinalysis. These people do not care and while I was waiting the 5 hour wait, I saw them be incredibly rude to several people. One staff member got pissy with someone who was literally holding a towel to his head to stop bleeding.

RIchard Gillen Ive had to take my wife to the hospital several times for extreme constipation, difficulty breathing and a bad cold and they do nothing for her even when shes coughing up green phlem. Were strongly considering filing a malpractice lawsuit.

Ladelle Tomson This is a horrible hospital and has been for years! I dont know why the community doesnt make a bigger deal about it! They have hurt people and let people dye and have help several find there addiction. There is a proper way if you have someone on addictive medication to ween them off of it before discharge. They have no clue what they are doing, one doctor does this another doctor comes and does a totally different thing! Get it together! I went to the ER today and I didnt even get taken back! They seen me and discharged me without looking into the problem at all! horror show! I seen them do it to patients worse off then me! No wonder nobody wants to get health care help!

John Thomas I went in for a colonoscopy procedure, a few days ago, and Ive got to say, that despite all of the anxiety that came with the anticipation of this procedure, the nurses, doctors, and staff, were very nice and did their jobs well, making the experience as comfortable and easy as possible. Sarah, Amanda, and the other nurses were very considerate and sincere about looking out for me during my brief time with them. Dr Trieu, and my anesthesiologist, Dr. Erez, both, took time to speak to me and ask if I had any questions. We were chatting in the operating room, and for a moment, I wondered when I would notice the anesthesia, then I woke up and I was done! Lots of anxiety and worry over not much! Sarah offered me various drinks and healthy snacks, but all I wanted was ice water. I was treated like royalty during my few hours at Providence St. Joseph Hospital.

David Howard In 40+ years here and raising a family. The local hospitals have been 100 % consistent. Every diagnosis has been incorrect. 100% of the time. They are not a hospital, they are a fraud. You cant get worse than 100% inaccurate. You are much better off going to any other hospital anywhere else. And by the way, they are just trained parrots.

Rachel I gave birth to my first child at this MRCH’s birth center and the staff took great care of us the entire duration of our stay. I had multiple complications that required an emergency cesarean birth. I felt all staff near me were attentive and I am sad this birth center is closing. In addition, I have had ultrasounds, X-rays and admission to the emergency room here over the years. There were sometimes long wait times ranging from 45 minutes to 2 1/2 hours, but the medical system in general is under strain and this has been a growing issue at all medical facilities. If I can, I always prefer to come to this hospital for anything I need done locally.

Becke Wright Arrived at the ER at 4am on Mon. 2/24 with pain. They did not listen to me AT ALL. Ran a uti test even though I clearly said multiple times I did not have a uti. Dr comes in my room says I dont have a uti. Im like yes, correct. They decided I could go now. And try taking a bath to help sooth my pains. Ive never been more gaslight by a group of doctors than I was this night. Lady nurse tells me, Im not swollen she doesnt see it. Mind you my typical boney feet are fully swollen with no ankles. I proceeded to see my doctor the next day and guess what everything they gaslight me with, I was correct. After running blood tests, they found my inflammation. I will not ever go back to mad river hospital, ER.

Mike Lempinen Got a surgical referral in Dec 2023, it took until March 2024 to have a surgical consult & X-ray. I lost count how many times I called, left messages or talked to Trish with no response. I have never received such a runaround, and empty promises. Months later, she passed the buck to someone named Melissa. I started leaving messages, and calling her. More runaround. I finally got a new referral in Nov 24 to UCSF. TODAY(Dec 5th, 24), Melissa calls me back LOL. I held my tongue, but understand that these folks have NO compassion, and youre more likely to receive follow up care from a fast food restaurant than these incompetent fools. Avoid at all costs, your condition will get worse before the games are over. SMH...Karma is what they say it is. I hope they find themselves in a situation like they have put me through. Only then might they understand.

John Lewis Im a resource parent and one of my children is really sick. We have been sitting in the waiting room for over 2 hrs. We are currently in the waiting room as my child sleeps on a terribly uncomfortable chair. I suspect Ill be here for a few more hours without being seen.were at 1 patient being taken back every hour. They clearly only have 1 doctor in the emergency room. He must be soooo busy. Or hear me out... they have several er doctors but help 1 patient an hour. I see I see. Will update as I wait. Kim Hoffmeyer Spent several hours waiting at Mad River Hospital to be seen for a possible allergic reaction to a medication. Finally got a room and chance to see a Dr. When Dr Lui walked into the room my heart sank and I knew I would be sorry for trying Mad River Hospital ER again! He was rude and would not listen to anything is said. When I explained to him what I had been experiencing and who I had talked to previously about my issue he interrupted told me to go back to them because he didnt see anything wrong with me. When I tried to tell him what I had been using for my illness he interrupted me and said "You dont need to tell me I know what it is." My toung was white, swollen and had sores that were very visible. He said he didnt see anything. When I questioned him about his reply he said he could only tell me what he sees and he didnt see anything. He insisted on checking my lungs, heart, and liver then said there youre fine there is nothing wrong with you you can go now. He dismissed everything I tried to say. He should no be practicing medicine. I will never recommend that ER to anyone as long as he is there. I only went there because its close by and it had been such along time since I used that ER that I had forgotten Dr Lui was the ER Dr. Never again!!! Edit 1. Went to my dentist with my sore dry mouth issue. He said my entire mouth was dry and said I needed to have blood work done because my symptoms were related to diabetes and sjogren disease. Sjogren disease is an autoimmune disease.
