Veronica Taylor Halls of Ivy Salon is by far my favorite salon I’ve ever been to. The hospitality and care they put into their work is unmatched, and I always feel at home here. The owner Kristin goes out of her way to make sure everyone is welcome, and as a queer person, I truly love that I have a safe space. 10/10 would recommend! Also if you have hair damage like me from previous at-home hair projects, request the K18 treatment, it has truly changed the health of my hair, and it feels like silk now!

Hannah Wasacz I love Halls of Ivy! They always have me leaving feeling like my best self. The scalp treatment is my favorite there, it really helps eliminate any extra product build up in my hair and leaves my hair feeling silky and extra clean. Meagan was my stylist and she was excellent. She listened to all my needs and really sought out what services would be best for me. I appreciated the time and dedication she put into my hair, that left me looking and feeling beautiful.

Betsy Parker The ambiance and design will bring you in, and the skillful stylists will keep you coming back! . I have had many experiences here in the past 4 or 5 months, and have received multiple types of services Blowdrys, extensions, color, cuts…the list goes on…and I’ve been extremely happy with each and every service and stylist/colorist/technician! I walk out feeling great time after time. The amazing warmth I first noticed from the attitude of the reception desk is a reflection on the attitude of the entire staff. Add to this, owner is extremely hands-on and shows complete devotion to her team and to her customers as well. You don’t see this at many salons!
In other words, Halls of Ivy is an amazing find, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for all around excellence!

But received a complete miss on length, balance, and style.. no exaggeration!
I hadn’t had a haircut in almost five years, so I had plenty of hair to work with, a total of 21 inches were cut off.
I showed a couple of pictures of different people/hairstyles and talked with the stylist on what they recommended. We agreed on a Jason Momoa styled haircut, especially since it wouldn’t be a drastic change in terms of styling from what I originally had. I did mentioned that I wanted my hair to be cut towards my shoulder like his when showing the picture, but what I ended up with was way shorter than I expected.
You could argue in the strictest sense that shoulder length cut by itself could be higher than what Jason Moma had, but not as near as short as what I ended up with. Especially in context with the picture I showed and agreed upon. Note that the only thing I requested differently was towards the very end of the hair cut when I asked for a more piecey look for the front ends that would fall towards my eyes. Even with that, my hair ended up having a bowl cut shape towards the side and back and for some reason and it being a little longer towards the front. Creating sort of a V shape for the ends when looking at the front. Even if you were to google shoulder length haircuts it can vary from the bottom your neck to even past the lowest point of your shoulder.
It initially seemed like the problem occurred when the stylist didn’t factor that the initial cutting of hair was being heavily weighed down and also my hair being straighter than normal after brushing/combing through but looking back at it now, not even the foundation of the cut excluding length wise doesn’t even make sense. Even then I’d expect a professional hair stylist to factor/account for this. It’s not even low enough even when fully straighten.
My personal opinion is the hairstylist should’ve confirmed the exact length when styled especially knowing that x person hasn’t had a haircut in almost 5 years and probably has zero clue on any hair style vernaculars. This was my first time growing out my hair long and I mean long so all I know previously is your typical barershop lingo like what fades there are.
I initially felt it was partly my fault failing to communicate as effectively and even initially wrote this review to be more lenient and forgiving but looking back at it now critically, not even the foundation of the cut excluding length wise doesn’t make sense to me. Getting a big haircut like what I got and someone that obviously hasn’t step foot in a salon before… the hairstylist professional should be confirming lengths, styles, etc. and how the finalized cut will end up looking like with realistic expectations.
It’s probably going to take half a year plus to get near what I wanted after this cut…
It’s even worse when I add curl cream too which is what was recommended I use by my hair stylist afterwards since it would enhance my waviness/curls, but it ended up just shortening the length even more and exaggerating a more bowl like look. It seems like a better approach would’ve been not cutting exactly to x length right away but leave room to style and then cut more as needed, but then again I’ve never cut hair before.
At first it seemed like a genuine mistake and initially I would’ve even gone back to this salon and even go with the same hair stylist in the future but looking at this fully critical, the shape, balance, etc. doesn’t even make sense to me. I’m not at all expecting a 1:1 look, like what was shown as obviously each person texture, waviness, etc. varies but I still can’t see how it’s even remotely close.
I even showed a picture of myself to the stylist beforehand with a somewhat similar style.
A somewhat made it slightly better the next day using a stronger hold with gel but even the day I got my haircut and styled it and it looked nothing like what I expected. I really can’t grasp what went wrong during the cut.

Birsen Doner I had a deeply disappointing highlight experience with Kailey. She highlighted my hair far too light, using a technique where the blend was nonexistent and looked completely unnatural. THE WORST part is that her technique caused significant hair loss, which Ive been struggling to recover from for over 8 Months. My hair fell out because she applied the dye directly to my scalp, which should never have happened. I strongly advise others to consider this before choosing her services. Would NEVER RECOMMEND
