Nilab majidi I recently visited this salon and had a disappointing experience. The hairstylist who was assigned to me was Sylvia, she was unfriendly from the start. During the appointment, I received an important phone call and politely asked her if she could turn off the blow dryer for a moment so I could hear. Instead of accommodating my request, she rudely told me to "use my other ear" because she was blow drying one side of my hair. When I explained again that the call was urgent and asked her to stop the dryer for just a minute, she finally turned it off but walked away with visible annoyance. After the call, she resumed blow drying but didn’t even finish the job properly, my hair was still frizzy, and the roots were damp. She then told me I was “done,” leaving me feeling like she rushed through the service with no care for quality. I ended up speaking to the receptionist, who thankfully arranged for another stylist to fix my hair, but the whole experience left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. I wouldn’t recommend this salon if you’re expecting professionalism and courtesy from their staff.

Judy Norton I’ve been coming to Gloss and having Cyrena cut my very natural curly hair for several years now. No one can cut my hair as well as she does! Perfectly shaping and working with my natural curl takes a skill not found with many stylists!

Hana Darrough I just want to say how AMAZING the hair stylists at Gloss are. They are so friendly and always made me feel like I was in safe hands. Cheyenne and Cerena are so awesome, and I’m so grateful I found such an incredible salon with such incredibly talented individuals. My salon for life! Thank you, ladies!

Olga Christina Auclair Absolutely loved my experience here at Gloss Hair Studio! The front desk attendant was friendly and greeted me with a warm smile and offered me something to drink. Jamie greeted me immediately and right away was eager to assist me with deciding what I wanted. I was super nervous to try a new stylist but she came highly recommended so I gave it a try. I’m 100% happy I choose to trust Jamie. She listened carefully to all my details, double checked and even triple checked to make sure I was getting exactly what I requested. Kristina Marie After many trial and errors I finally found my girl!! I have been getting hair extensions for 5 years consistently and by far Bahar has been the best hair stylist that has put the hair extension in my hair. First off she explained to me things about hair extensions that in the last 3 years I havent even heard.....kinda scary actually!! Bahar is freakin amazing! Hair extensions are NOT cheap but she gave me an amazing deal far better that I have paid before, not to say the quality was way higher as well! The hair extensions she put in were super full and I ended up getting 18". She is great and her work is great! def my go to girl for hair extensions in San Diego!

Touraj A I recently got a haircut from Bahar at Extensions Hair Salon and her work is great. She is patient and takes the time to listen and tries to really listen to what my requests are. I can see her trying to envision the outcome i am going for, before she begins cutting my hair. I sent my wife to get highlights at her hair salon as well and she had the same "great experience".

Kelly Piper I will have to say... Bahar is simple amazing! I originally went to another salon and had a terrible experience at another salon off of 5th ave, and got scammed for a terrible hair extension job. I came into the Extensions Hair Salon, a mess, and looking for professional advice when I came across Bahar. Not only is she a phenomenal hair artist and super fun, but her professionalism, expertise, and attention to detail make her the best Ive ever worked with in my life!!! Her prices are great and her work is even better. This girls a keeper. Ill be back for sure.

Lizzie G I found Bahar on yelp and based on her reviews she sounded great! She is very accommodating with setting up appointments. I went and saw her and instantly she changed my life! First she is hands down the best colorist I’ve ever been to. She turned my hair from black to platinum blonde in a very short timing and didn’t damage my hair one bit! Second she is hilarious. I can’t stop laughing (literally) when I am in her chair. She’s extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled when it comes to hair. Third I purchased extensions from her. I’ve gone to many people before meeting Bahar for hair extensions (fusions) and I’ve never gone to anyone else since. It’s been years. Her prices are very fair. You can feel her passion for hair and making people love what they see in the mirror. She is the best! I wouldn’t recommend anyone else for any type of hair service. She knows it all and is so so good at what she does.

Noel Elliott I dont know where to even begin!! Bahar at Extensions hair salon is amazing. I got my extensions when I went to LA and they did nothing but take my money and leave me with a nappy mess. I was referred to Bahar by my coworker and let me tell you I have hair soooo long and full. And to top it off it actually blends unlike the other times I have gotten the hair extensions done. The process of getting hair extension was so smooth with Bahar and she even calls me every so often to make sure everything is going good and to answer any of my hair extension questions. I love this girl she is straight up my hair goddess. Oh she also gives free hair haircuts during the duration of the extensions and also maintains them for me at no cost every 3 weeks. Im soooo happy that I have found a hair extension specialist in San Diego. If you need your hair done right make sure you check her out. Cant express it enough. Happy happy happy

Monica Gomez-Dunham Im on a tight budget so the price of a haircut motivated me to try Shearology. I messed up my hair by trying to cut it myself so I had to find a place who could correct my mistake. Jeanette was fabulous! Not only did she give me a perfect Bob she was also knowledgeable about great places to eat and things to do in SD. I will see her again in the future.

Alyssa Clark Was lucky enough to get squeezed in for a last minute same day appointment! I hadn’t cut my hair in almost 2 years. Holly was so nice about it, made me feel comfortable. Marie Bloomquist I have been having my hair done by Debbie for over 30 years. She has also been doing both of my daughters hair practically all their life --they are 27 and 22 years old and will not go to anyone else. In fact, my daughter arranges her haircuts when she comes home from Santa Cruz. My hair as well as my daughters have gone through different haircuts, styles and coloring. We are always confident that we will leave looking AWESOME. She is always suggesting other ways to change up our hair and keeps up to date on all the latest styles and products by attending classes. Seeing her progress to owning her own salon has been amazing. She is not satisfied until every client that comes into her salon whether her own or others is happy with their outcome. I recently attended a college reunion and received numerous compliments on "my not looking any older "which I attributed to the great haircut and products that she has me using. I highly recommend Debbie to anyone looking for a new hairstylist. Her salon is very welcoming and always a nice place to go at the end of the workday to unwind and have your hair done, just knowing you will leave feeling and looking beautiful!!

Jann Allen I cant remember the number of years Ive been seeing Debbie - first for nails and then for my hair. She is an excellent consultant, colorist and stylist. I get so many compliments on my hair! I was so happy when she decided to purchase her own shop - Shearology - and admire her professionalism and cheeriness! Debbie is ALWAYS cheery, which is what I love about her! I recommend her to you and the stylists she has in the shop are all top of the line professionals. So call and make an appointment!!

Mary Neff My husband recommended me to Shearology. Bob has been cutting his hair for 5 years, and does a great razor cut. Debbie has been cutting my hair for about a year. She is a great stylist, and is very candid if you ask her "can you do whatever with my hair". She recommended a wedge cut "the original Dorothy Hamill look". I love it, it is so easy to take care of, when I awake in the a.m., my hair style is still in place, I just have to run a comb lightly in the back. I have a colic in the back, and Debbie has corrected that for me with this cut. You get top notch services at reasonable prices at Shearology. They are the best, and I do recommend them highly.

Jerome Cooper Solid cut and great service! I have been here several times and had my haircut by many stylists. I have always had a great experience. I especially love when I get compliments on my hair when I leave the salon. The staff is so friendly and they are very professional. They do a great job of getting me in when I need a last minute cut as well. I highly recommend checking them out if you are looking for a great stylist!

Arlene Velasco Alessia did a very good job with my hair, they are all very friendly and professional. They are trained on techniques thats why they give great results! The salon ambiance is very pleasing, not intimidating. I will recommend this salon to my friends and coworkers.

Katherine Elizabeth CAIT IS SUCH AN AMAZING COLORIST!!!!! I went in with long, medium brown hair and walked out 6 hours later with the perfect golden blonde. She exceeded my expectations as most other places said it would take me at least a couple of sessions months apart to become the level of blonde I wanted. Instead, Cait recreated my reference photos perfectly and gave me the legally blonde hair I really wanted in a day. My hair is literally healthier than when I walked in and I have had no abnormal fallout or breakage. I could not recommend her enough if you are considering going blonde!!!!!

Heidi Hanson I got my nails done here before a vacation, and they came out absolutely perfectly. Monica is fantastic and she can create just about any design you can imagine. Also, the salon is so chic and cute, I love spending time here. I’ll absolutely be returning and I highly recommend this studio!

Madison Wilson I went to Wild Honey last week for the first time and saw a new stylist for a basic haircut. The cut was decent, she did a good job, however the overall experience was cold and uncomfortable. I was very close to asking my stylist if she was okay because she seemed like she did not want to be there or was upset at me for some reason. Sadly I won’t be coming back.

Nicole Gray I absolutely LOVE Salon 5th Avenue Hair & Spa! I’m fairly new to San Diego and this place was recommended to me by my fiancé. I’m extremely picky and particular about who does my hair due to some bad experiences I’ve had in the past. I made an appointment with Santiago. As soon as I arrived, I was impressed with the cleanliness and overall atmosphere of the Salon. The staff was very professional and friendly which made me feel comfortable right away. Santiago took his time with me to really get an understanding of what I wanted. He was very knowledgeable about the different shades of blonde and the toner he would need to achieve the color that I wanted. My color came out amazing! He also gave me a cut and style which I loved! They also carry great products for not only your hair, but your skin as well. It’s was so refreshing to find a stylist that could achieve exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be returning to Salon 5th Avenue & Spa.

So, I had an appointment at 12:30 and got there around 12:05 and had an appointment with Judy, she was finishing up a client when I got there, and by 12:35 I was sitting in the chair and ready to start, I loved how punctual she was. I will attach a photo of the reference I gave her as well as the before and after. She was really fast, I asked for a balayage and haircut and was out of there around 3:30, I have a lot of hair but she was very fast and efficient as well as very talkative. Judy is very knowledgeable, she wanted to do what I asked for but at the same time told me what the best option was in order to keep my hair healthy and looking nice, I really appreciated her advice and I am really happy with the results, she was great explaining the process, what she was doing and why. I appreciated her so much, thanks again. I 100% recommend this place, especially her, I walked out feeling amazing!

Brianna My haircut was great, but I had an extremely poor experience with my balayage. I requested a dark mushroom/cool toned brown and did NOT get that at all (pics shown of what I was given). I went back several times hoping she would be able to fix it but she never got it right. I stopped going back after the third or fourth time and several hundred dollars later. Not only that, but the stylist, Kassie, forgot who I was and talked crap about me, TO ME. I mentioned personal things in a previous appointment because she asked about it, and then in the next appointment she forgot who I was and said I was crazy, TO ME. When I called her out on it she said, "oh sorry I forgot who you were." Her haircut was good but would not recommend her other services. I went to a different salon and was able to get the exact style I wanted right away.

Caroline Duffy Love this studio! They include a drink with your appointment (water/wine/tea/coffee), your stylist will wash (does a great job), and style, very affordable too. Tess is super personable and does an excellent job!

Jennifer Yore Such a gorgeous salon - really peaceful and located right next to some great shops and restaurants. I love that they carry and use Davines hair products, I always leave with my hair smelling incredible! I have been going to Bettina for my haircuts forever and she is wonderful! The staff are lovely and I appreciate the appointment reminders.

Erin Bijas Salon on 30th is amazing. I highly recommend visiting for your next haircut if youre in the San Diego area. Ive been going to Andrea for years now and I absolutely love her. Not only does she do a great job with my hair - she has SAVED my scalp (hard water in San Diego is no joke) and our conversations are always so enjoyable. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Ann-Louise Strandberg I visited this salon for the first time last week. The space was nice, parking was easy, and the stylist who helped me was kind and professional. Unfortunately, the results weren’t what I had hoped for. My color and highlights turned out uneven, with some sections looking streaky or spotty. I was surprised, especially considering I spent $500. I know hair color can be tricky, but it’s disappointing to feel like the quality didn’t match the price. While the experience itself was pleasant, I don’t think I’ll be returning, and I can’t confidently recommend it based on my visit.

Melissa Clevenger I am from out of town but I found this awesome place to take my niece Mindy to so she could get a color and cut. She had a baby and then developed complications and was in the hospital and rehab for three weeks. I thought getting her hair done would give her a boost. She needed extra care and Brenda did an awesome job coloring her hair and cut her hair in the style she showed her. Thank you for your kindness you showed her and how patient you were. We were able to get right in. Thank you Patti for an excellent wax job. You ladies rock!! The atmosphere was very friendly. They are were very reasonable as well.

bik bik Rebecca Long is a hair dresser. My daughter has been in residential for 2 years mostly due to Rebecca’s unwanted interference and warped sense of reality, likely due to Rebecca’s substance abuse. It’s surprising to me how Rebecca is able to hold a comb and scissors all these years without shaking. Perhaps working in bars at night staves off the shakes (DTs or delirium tremens). Certainly when my daughter recovers mentally from the trauma Rebecca caused her, I will gladly tell her of Rebecca’s thoughtless and warped treatment. My daughter is a very smart person and will easily connect the dots for herself as to why she ended up in a residential home.

Don’t listen to the bad reviews people give on this woman, they are just bots who are stupid and don’t know what they’re saying. Emily Ho This review is long overdue. I have been going to Jessica for *12 years* and for good reason! She is an absolute master at what she does - both cut and color - and she will take every care to truly understand what you are looking for. I even trusted her with my cut and color for my wedding! On top of that, Jessica is a huge sweetheart. Ive gotten hair cuts from her other staff, who also do a good job, and have referred countless friends to her salon. I highly recommend!

Gina Ferguson I’ve been going to Jessica for about 10 years now, and she really is an expert in what she does. I know I can always trust her. Her salon is super clean and comfortable, and she’ll always make you feel at home with conversation while she works hard. I’ve been to other places, and Jessica tops all the ones I have been to, listening to exactly how I want my hair cut and styled, it turns out better than I expected each time. Any problems you have with your hair, just know she’ll accommodate you in the best way possible. Price is very reasonable!

Deirdre Fuller Jessica did an absolutely amazing job of saving my mom’s hair after it became extremely matted following a period of illness. I was surprised at how much she was able to preserve and she gave my mom a cute and manageable cut. They worked on brushing it out for a long time before cutting, dedicating a lot of time and thought to it. Jessica was so kind and sensitive and really helped my mom feel better. I can’t thank her enough!

She’s a true master colorist with an undeniable passion for her craft. During my consultation, she was just as perplexed as I was by the red and blunt blonde application I had received elsewhere. But as soon as I showed her my inspiration photo—the one I was told was impossible—she immediately understood my vision and set out to make it happen. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she also has such a warm and fun personality that made the entire process enjoyable. Our conversation was not only educational—she took the time to explain everything—but also genuinely fun. I felt like I was catching up with a friend while she worked her magic. She even stayed later than planned on an important day for her, missing a reservation, all because she was dedicated to helping me. That level of commitment is rare, and I’m beyond grateful. Mairena has earned my loyalty as a client, and I can’t wait to see the final result! DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK WITH HER!!!!

Isabelle Nguyen I had another hair stylist dye my hair too black (it looked unnatural) and, therefore, wanted partial dark brown highlights to give more dimension. I went on Google and found Jesus to be available the following day at this salon. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted with friendly receptionists. Jesus, my hairstylist, listened to my concerns and gave me the most beautiful color and blowout!! What an artist. Really calm demeanor and gave me great tips on maintaining the color.

Leighton Jones Wonderful experience. The salon has a cool location that is easy to get to no matter where you live in San Diego. My stylist was Jessie—so knowledgeable in her art and kindhearted. This was my first experience not only in this salon but also in vegan, nontoxic salon products. I will never go back. As a natural blonde, that unfortunately gets more brunette with age, I struggle with what bleach and heat do to my hair. These products let you go blonde but without the damage (crunchy texture and split ends). There is no strong odor during the process and it also doesn’t require heat processing which is great as I often struggle with eczema. I would recommend this salon to anyone, and already have! Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Overall….Come here for your next salon visit! Update 3/2023: been a client now for over 2 years. Won’t go anywhere else. This past visit Jessie was able to continue to amaze me with my color and cut. I have premature white hair—she can blend them in like nothing I’ve ever seen. Easily can go 4-5 months without touch ups or color. Amazing!!

Xiani Williams I visited for the first time a few days ago. I wanted to cut a lot to donate and I’m always a little nervous to do that because I don’t know how the short haircut will look. Gabby was my hairstylist and she made me feel super comfortable, checked in along the way about the style and I ended up with a cute short haircut. She’s very nice, professional and experienced. Happy to have found a hairstylist. The salon has a great ambiance, and I love that they never double book. Of course the best part is that all their products are vegan.

Shells H. These gals saved my hair, which was like saving my life. After a complete disaster of an appointment elsewhere, I was referred to Eco Chic by a friend and I could not be happier that I was. Leanne was so kind and helpful, and Teri did miracles fixing the color and texture of my hair. Worth. Every. Penny. The before was so bad I cant even bring myself to share, but this is the magic Teri created from it. Absolutely incredible. You will not be disappointed with yours!

Catharine Hargenrader I do not have enough excellent words to stay about this Salon! The EcoChic Salon gives their clients a fully pampering experience. Felt welcome the minute I stepped through the door through the atmosphere and environment they have styled to the customer oriented ethic of their staff. Pam was such a blessing to have for my first visit. She helped me do a full assessment of my hair and recommended and completed a scalp hydrating treatment that worked wonders! I immediately felt a change in my scalp with my hair feeling rejuvenated. And to top it off my cut was phenomenal and right on point with our consultation! I will definitely be back!!!

She’s taken me from blonde to brunette to copper back to blonde all while keeping the integrity of my hair. Her hair cuts are phenomenal she’s the only person who can make bangs work for me. She takes all reference photos and is able to achieve your hair goals while also making sure the style fits your face shape & color matches up to your skin tone. The salon itself is so cute, I absolutely love the lavender doors. Great vibes all around. Book your appointment with Marissa, I promise you won’t regret it!

Nicole M. A terrible place with awful policies. People make mistakes and sometimes misread. This happened today and I was 30 mins late, thinking my appointment was at 11:30. They charged me $100 dollars when times are already tough. No one called to double check I was still coming, if they had I would have came right away. Never schedule here. There are plenty of other great salons nearby that I’ve been too loyal to try out.

Tay S Overpriced services for unfriendly customer care. Tina seemed to be more concerned with talking to her colleagues versus paying attention to what I was asking for. My haircut looks hacked, wasted time and money.

Amyra Fariba did an amazing job! The salon took me in on a Monday (when most salons in the area are closed) on a same day appointment after an hour from when I called. I went from having hair half way down my back to collar length. It was a huge change but she made me feel comfortable. She even recommended a great color for toner color and did a beautiful styling job. The appointment took about 1.5 hours. Would highly recommend!

Patricia Mondino This salon is a big no! Not only did I get a full head of highlights when I asked for only lighter face framing ( less than partial highlights) but also got terrible damage from the bleach and the most hideous, patchy, blotchy highlights!!! After explaining that I just wanted to add a few fouls around my face and showed a picture, the stylist told me that I needed full highlights. I said again that I didn’t want bleach all over and she said that she needed to do it in “ some parts”. I’ve never had such a terrible experience. The salon staff tried to convince me that the stylist was super professional and had done an excellent job and that my hair was gorgeous. The owner asked if I had time to stay and add some low lights after I told her that I wanted my hair to stay darker but there was just no way I was going to let anyone there touch my hair again! They were super defensive. So I didn’t argue and decided that I was just gonna go and access the damage at home and hopefully get used to my hair being horrible. I was even willing to give them another try but honestly, every person who saw my hair had a very negative comment and wanted to know who the hell did that terrible job!! I was embarrassed to get out of the house. Thankfully I’ve found a great stylist who was able to correct my hair beautifully. I’ve posted some pics from the same day after I got home. If they consider this a great job, I can only imagine how a “ bad job” would look like at this salon! Please stay away from this place!! I also sent an email to them with the same pics and never heard back!

Rayanne Souza I did my hair with the hairstylist Diego Pavoni! he is a wonderful professional!!!!! The result of my hair was amazing, super shiny and soft! I also loved the color. And he taught me how to maintain care at home as well. I highly recommend it! ❤️

Friendly, professional, outstanding and knowledgeable stylists and incredibly reasonable for such a high end salon. My wife, children and myself have all been going there for years. We’ve been to downtown, PB and Hillcrest locations and had the same result at all locations. Love them!!

A Universal Woman Well worth the wait! I tried to book n an appointment before Easter but couldnt get in. And so I cut my own bands and messed up! Mia and her team were kind and Mia really understands hair. I basically asked her to make my hair look nice and after a few suggestions that I agreed to, she did her thing. She is caring and skilled. What else could I all for in a stylist? Location is in the Godfather strip mall, so it was easy for me to find.

Chris Tee Great service! Maria and Sean were so welcoming and warm. Kyle was great, too. I got an anxiety attack when he was about to cut my hair and he and everyone were very patient with me. I really appreciated that because anxiety attacks are very debilitating. I will definitely be going back again.

Gary Siuzdak Sean did a great job, careful and meticulous. Have since had Mia also work on me. She is fantastic, an artist.

Rebecca Barus Style Lounge is amazing! Zac is so talented, detailed, and does a fantastic job on color and extensions. He really cares about his clients looking good and he has a great eye. Plus he’s the coolest - time flies when talking to him. He makes you feel right at home. The salon is beautiful and clean. They have so many products / extensions right on site making it convenient.

raelene portillo THIS PHOTO IS AFTER GETTING MY COLOR DONE WHAT IM LEFT WITH Stylist didnt do what i felt i wanted .. better places out there for the high price. Felt like i was rushed and not treated well. I bought some products during my consult that the stylist recommended and i seen them online for less as well. Just feels like a greedy get in get out place not personable - my roots are super grown out looking and not blended out at all - she did a "reverse bayalage" but the money pieces were not touched and honestly just feels like she toned me darker pretty much - was charged 350 for a tone it felt like Since she didnt do anything to fix my grown out roots My hair just looks grown out roots and a little darker than when i walked in with my previous lighter hair The stylist didnt seem to take time with me she just kinda wanted to rush and get to the next client And she was late Doesnt look like quality work I also asked questions about the extensions bcuz i might be interested and she felt irritated and rude about that too when i asked how they do them and more details and to see colors

Katie Krupar Zac is the best!! He makes my hair look flawless and smooth with a keratin treatment. He’s very thoughtful in his approach and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my brunette color.
