So I can tell you this is the place for cuts and color by far. Honestly I’m so happy with my results. And that I could really trust this salon. Thank you so much. I had Demitra and she is a gem!!!!!

Kali Dilley Noel did an amazing job bleaching my hair. When you first walk in they all welcome you and offer comforts (water, coffee, etc.). They really keep up on new trends and the new ways to style and/or color dye. They explain their process and what they’re doing, it’s comforting to know what is happening to your hair. I could ask them about any hair care after the bleaching. I got the exact results I wanted and my hair doesn’t feel damaged, especially since I have been using their eco friendly shampoo and conditioner. I will be visiting them again for sure and absolutely recommend this family friend small business.

Kat Kiraly Went to 979 Hair Design looking for a professional who was willing to listen to me, what happened to my hair (it was butchered by another stylist in another salon)and how to move toward a solution. I am very happy I decided on 979! Gia is the professional who cut my hair and I felt very comfortable with her. My hair looks much better, although theres a way to go before the previous cut will grow out enough to completely fix it. Im happy!

Elizabeth A. I have the best hairdresser! Any one else Ive tried over the years has cut my hair wrong. The salon is in a great location in the historic part of town with parking in several places. They have different art exhibits rotate throughout the year and support local artists. 979 also uses and sells the Davines line of haircare products.

Chris Mootham This is where my moms hair stylist has her business. Amy is excellent and we drive 40 minutes just for her expertise. A dozen+ hairstylists with each having their own space. Beats having some tyrannical, greedy salon owner gouging people for their hard work. Quality is queen here and a relaxing atmosphere.

Bonnie Deiter Jackie is amazing. She is relocating here from Reno. Not many people can cut wavy/curly hair and give you a look that will look great left natural or straightened. She is awesome! She does walk-ins on Fridays. Glad I did!

Sharol Champagne George April is an amazing stylist. When I moved to the area I had to go to Sonoma county for my haircuts. It took me years to find a great hairdresser then I found April. When she switched places I tracked her down and I am still a client.

Jenise Howell Heather @ Pin Perfect does an awesome job with my highlights & low lights. She is not only a great hair stylist but also a very warm friendly person. I think it is a perfect set up she has created with her own little studio space which helps in making it a low key relaxing experience.

Mersades Crocker I hate getting my hair done. A lot of women enjoy it but for some reason sitting in a chair for three hours is just hard for me. When I stepped into illegally blonde I immediately got excited. Tori was so joyful when I walked in that her good energy rolled off onto me. I was torn between the color I wanted and she asked me to trust her and that she had a custom color just for me in mind. Hours past and she let me watch a show on my phone also made sure I was comfortable. I also suffer from chronic neck pain and she made sure when washing my hair to be so careful with my neck which meant a lot to me. Once the color was all done I was shocked and so happy with the way it turned out!! It was the perfect mocha, cinnamon brown that complimented all of my features. She was so patient and so sweet and is truly a professional. I have never loved my hair so much and next time I will be willing to sit still for three hours knowing that this will be the outcome. I get compliments all the time and absolutely am in love with the color and the service I received!!! Thank you Tori for the best salon visit I have ever had!

Kelly Mayer I recently did a massage trade with Stacey in exchange for a haircut, and I couldnt be happier with the results. My boyfriend commented that its his favorite cut hes seen on me in 5 years! I absolutely loved how bouncy, full, and wavy she made my hair look. She also styled my hair for a wedding party I attended later, and made me feel fabulous! Stacey is a delight to chat with and I highly recommend her.

Becky W Stacey is absolutely a diamond. One color and cut and you’ll never go anywhere else. She is professional, kind, warm, funny, and accepting. Her prices are competitive. She’s a local girl, exceptionally talented (as you can see from her beauty book/social media), and she’s even done work for Vogue Italia! I’ve been going to her for 8 years now and I always leave feeling like a million bucks. She’s the real deal, peeps!

Bill Horbaly Our family has had our hair cuts and styling from Chris for many years. She listens, makes suggestions and everyone in our family is happy with the results. She is fabulous with kids, definitely her specialty. We have gone again and again and dont even consider other places. We have many friends who use Chris as well. She requires reservations and it is best to bring cash, but she does take a few other forms of payment. Its best to ask in advance if not paying cash. If you are not in Auburn, Chris is worth the drive.

She was kind, patient and knew exactly what to do after I told her I had no idea how I wanted his hair cut. I would highly recommend her for a first time haircut and the ones that follow!

Dallas Drake Great Experience!!! Was in the area, and stopped in to ask about appointments . They happened to have an opening, and Vicky got me into a chair asap. The haircut was amazing. Two quick questions, and simply the outcome was great. My hair is a little tricky to get right, and she nailed it first go. Proper trim up for the beard and the brows, ….and then…… the hot towel with a proper lineup on the beard and neck with a good ol straight razor. No where else to go in town for a great men’s cut. Best price for what you get as well. Auburn always seems to have the best to offer.

C S So, lets talk experience before we even touch the cut. Jealous significant others beware. The barbers here are some of the funniest, down to earth make you feel welcome, awesome, and beautifully souled individuals I have met in awhile. The environment they create really makes you wish they were cutting hairs individually just so the experience could last a bit longer. As for the cut. Well if your head looked like the offspring of a circle and square after a one night bender, they could turn that trapezoid to a show stopping jaw dropping octagon stud. Simply put, go here for a phenomenal cut and great experience. Send your boyfriend, husband, wives best friend, that one guy you know here.

Mary Barton I went to Hair Depot after a horrible experience at Vineyard Salon in Auburn that totally made my hair look horrible! I was nearly in tears. Then a friend recommended Hair Depot. I called, got an appointment the following day. What a difference!!! I was met by Lori. She was attentive to my needs, she listened, communicated, and transformed a disaster into a masterpiece! I havent felt this good about my hair in years! I came out of there feeling like a million dollars! Very well priced as well. Lori has this customer for as long as she is in business! ( Bonus! I cannot judge the other ladies there but I do spend 2 - 3 hours there while getting my hair done, see why below, and I only see beautiful heads and happy customers leaving this salon. I recently relocated to Auburn from Europe (lived in Napa, CA for 5 years before that) and I was searching for a hair stylist who would manage to do my hair and actually listen to my wishes.. I have long, thick, wavy hair and I have a lot of them, not easy to work with. I chose hair depot because it is a family run business so I knew that those skills / genes are usually passed on. Also their prices are very affordable for what they do. I was right on and I am sooo glad for that. So many hair stylists literally screw my hair up before, and trust me, I changed many different hair stylists in past 18 years. The best hair stylists are in Italy, then Jasmine in Napa, CA and now Jaime in Auburn Hair Depot (I got my hair done in many other countries due to my past traveling). You can tell who does hair and loves that job. Those that love what they do will always do a great job vs those who dont. Jaime totally matched my hair color (she did roots and highlights, no cut yet) done by my not so good hair stylist in Europe. But her color was even better and I would say it lasts longer too. I am definitely one of many Hair Depot happy customers.

Diyana Adhikari The hairdresser was super nice, I really enjoyed talking to her. Although, she didn’t give me anything that i wanted. I asked for a balayage and showed her a picture of what i wanted more than once. She still did not do anything i asked for. She gave me greyish blonde highlights and then gave me a huge chunk of very very blonde hair. Literally just one chunk in the back of my hair. It’s not visible when all of my hair is in the back but once i bring it to the front it looks odd and like i did it myself at home. If you’re looking for an up to date style like a balayage do not come here.

Alex Steffen I had been trying to get my hair permed for over a month. Two other salons canceled appointments I had made. I had no trouble scheduling this appointment and was very happy with Brittny. She didnt have any trouble dealing with the amount of hair I have (despite being told it might be an issue at other salons). The price was also very reasonable.

Ally McEvans Anyone who wants to be pampered, I HIGHLY recommend "The Brix Salon" in Auburn off of Atwood. Amazing service, great atmosphere, and skilled workers. Its normally appointment only mainly because they wont have a worker available for a walk-in. They have stylists, estheticans, masseuses, and manicurists. They even offer drinks like coffee, tea, cucumber water, etc. which is a winner in my book. I had my hair cut/styled and washed all for $65. I know that may sound a bit pricey, but seriously it was WORTH IT and touch-ups are cheaper. Always willing to work with you to make sure they get everything perfect! Once again I HIGHLY recommend them.

Made an appointment with Natalie for a trim because it was to my waist, not only did I feel welcome, but she did a phenomenal job. I felt comfortable enough to request Mob Wives black hair and thats exactly what I got! Natalie is my favorite stylist Ive ever had and can confidently count on getting what I requested. I have long dark healthy hair now. The salon itself is always busy with happy clients, friendly front desk staff and a great vibe. Thank you all for a great experience!

Jackie Kramek I got my hair done by a women with curly hair. I rarely get anything done to my hair but I had a babysitter that day. I did not have an appointment, but I did not think that a hair color or hair cut was going to be difficult to accomplish. I originally wanted a trim because I am trying to grown my hair out and then I said I just wanted little bit of movement in the back but I liked it long in front. When I was finished I looked in the mirror and I touched it and it looked fine in the front. I had to leave and was not able to see the back , when I got to my moms house I looked at the back of my head and it looks like I have two different hair cuts in my head.... Long and then short! Uhhh I hate it, I hate it!!!!!!! I am so tired of hairstylists that do my hair, they do not listen to the client and instead of chopping away, why not ask the person what they are comfortable with. Instead of making the commitment in your head to give a person something they may not be comfortable with and to pay 110 plus tip for a bad hair cut that is just rediculous. I encourage people to speak out and say they dont like it and do not pay if they will not change it, or screw it up so bad they cant change it.

norma kalian I’m a senior citizen very short and scheduling appointment so I called the same day in the girl on Tuesday morning was able to cut my hair first thing in the morning and that’s what I appreciate the most. She cut my hair. OK I was pretty long and out of control with no style she gave me some style shortened. She gave me great ideas for styling my sometimes unruly hair, and she did a great job of coloring and cutting my hair. And she didnt make me feel guilty for trying things at home before I came to her! The salon has a nice vibe to it too (I dont like most salons these days...). The Artistic is a nice combination of clean and tidy with positive people who seem to enjoy their work, and no harsh chemical smells. I am happy to have landed in a great place on my first try in a new town. I have no need to look anywhere else.

K Jack I went in for a hair cut and color. The lady seemed nice enough, however she cut my hair and suggested some hi-lights which I agreed to. after she was done putting the color on and the hilights she put me under the dryer. I had never had that done before and I have had my hair cut and colored numerous times. ì guess I was really stupid because, I just figured it was a different kind of hair dye. My hair has never, ever been so dry and brittle and never felt worse. Still over a month later it is still bad. These ladies there hang out in the back room chatting and laughing and even leave customers who come in just hanging and dont even greet them in a respectable amount of time. I am in my 60"s and never has my hair felt so bad like it was burned, excessively dry and brittle.

Rachel Barker I dont normally leave reviews but this place gets one. I have never been to a more unprofessional hair establishment in my life. A year ago I gave them a shot and the gal who was supposed to cut my hair was 20 min late. Yesterday I thought Id give one more shot since I so desperately needed a hair trim and didnt want to pay a lot. But let me tell you, you get what you pay for! I had an appointment with someone at 2 o clock. First I walk in and the ladies working there dont acknowledge me, so I just sit down and wait a few minutes. 15 minutes goes by and still nothing. 25 minute mark and then finally someone comes over and asks if I had an appointment and I tell them I did. They tell me the gal who was supposed to cut my hair is running late and to give her 5 more minutes. I wait 5 more minutes and I just hear multiple woman working there laughing in the backroom having a good time and not helping me. As Im watching too, one of the employees goes in the backroom and her customer stands up and starts blow drying her own hair. Another minute later another employees son walks in , stands at a station and just starts shaving his beard off. Finally after 35 min, one lady comes out and offers to cut my hair. The lady was nice enough, but in the end my hair was so chopped up and uneven I walked into my home only to have people literally shocked at how bad my hair looked. I had to get hair fixed by a real professional later in the day. Oh and the lady who was supposed to do my hair originally, finally showed up 45 minutes late and comes and apologizes saying "shes just been so busy with the new year craziness and there was traffic". Im sorry but theres no excuses if you have an appointment at 2 you should be there at least 30 minutes early to prep and make sure you and your station are ready. Anyone planning to go here, dont unless you want a memorably bad experience and a terrible hair cut.

Suzanne Devinna Nancy was VERY understanding and patient with my 89 year old mom. I called ahead to check on availability for a pixie hair cut. She said she had a 30 minute opening if I could get her there by 1pm. Nancy listened to her stories and did a great job. Iona Kellison Did an online check in for a hair trim for my kids. They were able to see them both at the same time. They did a great job with the kids haircuts and was patient with my hovering to see how much Id like trimmed off. They were quick and efficient with their wash and dry as well.

Zaran I just got my hair cut today around 9:30, and I will be entirely honest, after reading some of the reviews I was skeptical and scared to get my hair cut. The person who cut my hair, I think their name was Melissa, was very cheery and kind to me, and they did an amazing job on my hair. I wanted a somewhat big change, and they did exactly what I wanted, I have never loved a haircut more than I do this one! brent nichols Asked for aggressively layered hair from front to back, no straight lines or bowl cut, gave example pictures of what I wanted and STILL got a bowl cut.. Not even in the same ball field of the pictures I had. No layers whatsoever. Have the professionals do it, don’t cheap out it really shows. I mean this place is seriously horrible. For whatever reason I still tipped her.

Nick Ive been going to Great Clips for decades. I know that each business is run as its own entity, but this location is awesome. The stylists are kind, quick, and knowledgeable. The prices are good too. Stop on by, Im sure theyd like to meet you.

Morgan Walker I called to book an appointment with someone who is good with curly hair and the women I spoke to recommended I book with Aliyah Koya. She seemed nice at the start but I asked her to do a blow out on my hair and she was going so fast she kept hitting me in the head with the blow dryer multiple times and was yanking on my hair. She also left my roots curly and was and frizzy because she didnt go slow enough for it to do anything other than my ends and I top of hat she never used heat protectant on me hair before blowing it out. She never asked how I want my hair parted and just left it jagged and uneven after washing it and then proceeded to cut it. I didnt notice that until I left. Im going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that she doesnt know how to style curly hair but I should never leave a salon and have to go fix my hair because it looked terrible and I had a headache all day from her hitting me with the blow dryer. I will not be going back to this location.

Monique E I recently was scheduled for a hair appointment at Textures by Hoshall on 3/16/2024 I received a call week of that they had closed and consolidated with their Auburn location. I ended up keeping my appointment and they offered all new customers 30% off. Which is lovely. I went to my appointment and during the highlighting process (touch up / full head) The top of my hair was copper. The hair stylist attempted to fix the issue with adding light brown to the top of my hair. Not till I got home did I notice the mess. I reached out to the salon via direct message and they said to come in the following weekend 3/23/24. I also mentioned that during my visit my hoodie was damaged. ( the reply was not sure how that could of happened to your sweater) I went to get my hair fixed and its not what I wanted but we did take the brassiness away. The stylist also mentioned that “it was the first time she worked with the bleach and didn’t know how badly it runs”. I noticed after my wash so much damage/breakage all over my head. My hair is so damaged now. I messaged the salon again to let them know and ask for tips on what I can do for my hair. They read the message but no reply. Ive been a faithful customer and now Im scared to even go back. I wanted my hair fixed, but I also would have preferred if she told me that my hair wasnt strong enough to handle the bleach again. It’s her job as a hair professional to give me the best possible advice to save my hair.

Chrys Doyle This new salon has a great inviting clean look. It has chandeliers, comfortable chairs, nice art and lots of amenities, perrier water, coffee, cookies. This is the first time my neck has not been in an uncomfortable position during the hair wash. Oh! and by the way the hair stylist Emily asked me all the right questions about what I wanted done to my hair. Emily is very professional and friendly. I got what I wanted and like the new salon. Her eye for color is a true talent and I always go in and get exactly what we talk about. I’m a platinum blonde and she is the only one who has come up with the perfect formula for me. All the stylists are amazing there and each provide amazing services to their clients and everyone gets the care you come to expect from a high end salon. They book up fast, so give them a call!

I had the same hairdresser in the Bay Area for over 35 years and moved here 2 years ago. I thought I would never find anyone to do my hair like she did but I am so pleased with Jessie and her work. Susan Gedney Not the professional level one expects these days. They invite dogs in off the street if an owner is walking by, then they all pet the dog dispersing dog hair everywhere, and they go back to work with out washing their hands. While I was waiting for my appt. a lady came in with a dog to stay for her 2 hour visit, the lady had no disabilities. When i asked if the dog could move out of the walk way so i could get to the bathroom, i was told to use the park bathroom where the homeless hangout. I have a disability due to a back injury and need a taller toilet. Was dumbfounded that I as a paying customer was being denied the use if the bathroom. Avoid this place if you are looking for professional service and especially if you have allergies.
