Vilma Elvir Oh my gosh, I have never been to such an amazing hair salon! The service here is absolutely exceptional. Norma gave me the cutest French bob, and I am beyond thrilled with the results – I truly love it and feel like I’ve gained so much confidence. I also have thinning hair, and Joel was incredibly helpful, offering great tips on managing my fine, thin hair and recommending some wonderful products to try. If you’re looking for an exceptional salon in SB, I can’t recommend this place highly enough. If I could give them 10 stars, I would!

Brenda Hall Samara is amazing! I completely trust her and my hair loves her. She’s given me the perfect pixie to a beautiful grow out. My color always looks natural, shiny and healthy. I know she is honest and tells me what’s best for my style.

Ali Bauerlein Samara is an amazing hair stylist. I completely trust her to make my hair look great and she always delivers! Ive been a client of hers for many years, and I would highly recommend her for anyone looking for a great stylist, especially for blondes! And, shes always a lot of fun to talk to during treatment!

Jeff is not only their rival in haircutting talent and quality, his color is out of this world too. I literally have people ask me every other day where I get my cut & color. Matson & Co is my secret.

Rebecca Tucker I discovered Victoria McHone (one of the stylists and colorists now at Matson & Co) through a friend who had amazing hair color. I went for hair color, and ALSO discovered Victoria is the first hair stylist Ive ever had that really took the time (and has the skill!!) to cut my curly/wavy and generally moody hair. I send all my friends to Victoria. Shes also just a rad person and 10000% enjoyable to chat with (or not if thats not your thing at the hair salon, she gets it.)

Dorothy Gary-Leveille Jeff has been cutting my hair for 15+ years and I was so excited when I found out he and Nada were opening their own salon. He always listens to what Im looking for in a cut and/or color and then either executes that idea perfectly, or steers me towards something similar that will work better for me. Most recently he has done a balayage on my hair and I am ecstatic! Its been a month and a half since he first colored it and I am still getting compliments on the cut and color from friends and coworkers. The new salon is lovely: the location is convenient and the space is clean and minimalist without being clinical or uncomfortable. I would refer anyone looking for a great cut, color & salon experience to Matson & Co!

Steve L This locally owned salon provides upscale services with a relaxed vibe. Jeff Matson, a co-owner with his wife Nada, has been cutting my hair longer than I can remember, predating even his own salon. His ability to give me a high-quality, consistent haircut is something I’ve had trouble finding elsewhere. Combining his skills as both stylist and a barber (two different skills is mastered) has always given me the results I’m looking for whether it’s longer, shorter, or somewhere in between. The rest of the staff is always personable and easy to talk to in this laid-back shop. The place is clean and well lit. Located in the Victoria Court shopping center across State Street from the Granada theater. Ample parking can be found in the lot behind the shopping center off of Chapala Street.

Alicia Lichvar There isnt enough positive things I can say about Whitney. From the point of initial contact, she was professional and extremely helpful for our elopement hair and make-up needs. She was communicative and so complimentary when we sent her reference photos. Her pricing was extremely competitive, and her skill is second to none. She is truly a master of her craft. Whitney arrived on the time the morning of our wedding, and she set such a positive, fun tone. She was so fun to talk to and it made the morning go by so quickly. Both my wife and I felt so incredibly beautiful, and she nailed the styles we were striving for. Also, the products that she used for both hair and make-up were exceptionally high quality and the styles lasted all day. While there are many options for hair and make-up in Santa Barbara, there is only one Whitney. Hire this woman, support her business, and you will not regret it one minute.

Josh sweeten Thank goodness I found Whitney! She did my hair and make-up two days in a row for a welcome party and a wedding in Santa Barbara. I found Whitney through IG, she was so easy to communicate with and was able to accommodate the days/times I needed her. She came to my hotel room which was very convenient and made the day very smooth. Whitney is extremely talented!!! She did an EXCELLENT job on my hair and make-up!! I have short, thin hair but she transformed my whole look and made me feel beautiful!! I highly recommend Whitney for anyone who wants the perfect glam. -Janie

Ashleigh Anderson Whitney is simply the sweetest and easiest to work with. She arrived at 5:30AM at the hotel I was staying at and finished very efficiently, just as planned. The entire process was very smooth and she ensured to check in as we progressed to make sure the makeup and hair looked as expected, prior to setting. This helped as I didn’t do any sort of trial beforehand. Makeup lasted all day! I felt so beautiful this day and can’t thank her enough!

Brayden L Every once in a while you come across someone who is just really good at what they do, and that’s David here. In addition to being a great chat, David gives a level of detail and attention to his work that I haven’t found anywhere else. Something I thought was really cool was how he intentionally styled my hair in a way that highlighted the strengths of my natural hair. In addition his space is impeccably clean and the big window view of state makes for a really peaceful experience. Finally I find his price to value very good compared to similar options.

Jake Barron Amazing location, and David was terrific. Expertly skilled, great personality, and reasonably priced. You won’t beat the combo of environment, quality, and price. Highly recommend.

Zack Reynard David gave me a FANTASTIC haircut. He actually listened to what I asked for and cut my hair accordingly. Really nice guy and fun, relaxing studio. Highly recommend!

Daniil Shakhov David is a great guy and incredibly talented. I have been going back to him for years and there is really no one like him. His new place on State Street has an amazing vibe, the real Santa Barbara experience.

Aidan OLeary The stylist and owner David was super friendly and a great guy. Very good at what he does, it was my first time trying a new hair cut and the result was just what I was looking for. Definitely will be coming back for my next cut.

Marianna Venieri I had a really great experience! Walked in without an appointment, and got one with Vanessa (upstairs) - and what can I say, she was amazing! I went from long to a bob, but with fine hair it takes a really good stylist to make it right, and she did wonders! Im super happy with the result, after a detailed consultation, had a wonderful time and she gave me amazing tips for what styling products suit my hair! Definitely recommend her and the salon, very good vibe, very friendly people, and Vanessa is a really skilled hair stylist.

Chipper Clouser Visited Studio S today to have my daughters hair cut . Cindy is so amazing she always does such a wonderful job. Even when she has a twitching child like my daughter in her chair.

Brittany Cardilino Currently visiting family in Santa Barbara after having lived here for 22 years. No matter where I move, it will be tough for any salon to match Studio S. My stylist for multiple years has been Nise Baker. If you want hair that makes everyone on the streets do a double take, shes your girl. People that seek out a well preforming hair stylist are picky with their hair. Fact. I am no different from this crowd, and likely worse. Despite how emotional, picky and confusing I can be about my hair, Nise is receptive and caring. Her demeanor allows my experience at Studio S to feel as though I am not far away from the comforts of my own home. Overall, this studio is clean and beautiful. They have also exposed me to amazing products and priceless hair care knowledge. Every stylist is beyond friendly as they offer coffee, water, snacks and smiles. I hope this studio never closes down as it would be tough to find anything that comes close.

Daniela Kiss Returned a call even though I hadnt left a message, gave me multiple stylist options and reccomended Vanessa for my short hair, after I explained that I had a very bad cut a few months ago. Vanessa was amazing! She talked me through what exactly I liked, and really knew what she was doing. She did an incredible job and I will be back as long as I am in and around SB. If you have short hair and specific likes, or need someone whos good with pixies and such, Vanessa is incredible. 11/10!!

Monica Bacca I just walked in without an appointment, I was feeling very insecure about my botched haircut that I got from a previously bad stylist. I walked in without an appointment and she just took me right into a chair, connected with me and listened to my concerns. She basically held my hand for 10 minutes through a bang trim, then taught me how to blow out and style my bangs. She went above and beyond and I am so pleased with her. I will go back anytime I am in Santa Barbara.

My nerves were quickly quelled as Cesars years of experience and professionalism were apparent from the get-go. Maeve Allen-Horth I booked an appointment after waking up yesterday and realizing I absolutely hated my hair (well, I wasnt crazy about it with the initial cut, and as it grew it just got worse. The cut just wasnt what I wanted). It NEEDED a change. A little google search told me that this place was good, and was reasonably priced (both are true). I attempted to get an appointment with Lettie since so many reviewers suggested her, but she was booked for the day. Instead I got Lori (Lauri? Im not sure on her spelling), who by the way is AMAZING. She helped transform my hair into something I was over the moon about. I literally went from coconut head (Neds Declassified) with these awful choppy bangs my last stylist definitely messed up on, to pixie cut queen. She kept everything I wanted in mind, and we even discussed what we thought would be best for the back before she even did anything, not to mention shes a wonderful conversationalist. Im awful when it comes to talking to new people, and she made it really easy. I think we talked during the whole process and I didnt feel any bit drained (Im pretty introverted and suck at conversing unless youre the right person). I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a personal touch, and I suggest even more Lori, who I know Ill be going back to 100%. The women who run this place are talented, sweet, and knowledgeable. I couldnt think of a better place to get my hair done.

I moved out of state and missed him so much for a little over 3 years. Just visited SB to primarily get a GOOD and restorative haircut and Michael knocked it out the park as usual. Hazelynn Khoo Sammi was amazing! Super easy to set up an appointment over text. It was my first time ever coloring my hair and she did an awesome job. She made sure she understood my vision before starting. She started by dry cutting my hair with a straight razor to get a feathery look instead of harsh layers. She then did a balayage on my entire head. It was a pretty long process but she was really friendly and we chatted the entire time. She didnt try to force any products on me, but did recommend a few products I could get at the drugstore for upkeep. I would definitely recommend her to anyone for a cut and color!

Marylou Pritchard Excellent customer service and stellar results have been my consistent experience at this salon. Sami is amazing with color. She really understands the science as related to different products, their use, and the type of hair being considered for the product. I have dirty dishwater and graying hair which has become difficult to manage. My color is a deep tone of blonde which highlights my skin tone well. I do receive many compliments on the color of my hair, and also the flattering cut. In the last few years, Ive never left the salon disappointed. This week, I had a last minute need to travel for work and canceled my appointment with less than 24 hour notice. The salon was very gracious and accomodating in getting me in! I appreciate the crew at 1329 and wouldnt hesitate to recommend any of the stylists.

Jamie Meisinger I have been friends and a client of Elyse for over a decade now. She is truly a magical hair colorist/ stylist . The new salon is a huge opportunity for her to continue to grow and show how talented she is and always has been. The new space is in an incredible location and filled with other talented stylists. Elyse is the best person in the area for being a colorist and she is always up to date on the most recent trends. I would travel 300 miles to be able to see her. Deli Best hair experience of my entire life, hands down! I sent Chelsea pictures of what my hair looked like before, and what I wanted it to look like after, and she did the rest, and it was absolutely fabulous! I have gotten compliment after compliment! It was perfect!!

Essam Kabli I had an amazing haircut done this morning by Jaclyn at Phenix Salon Suites Santa Barbara. She washed my hair with shampoo for a starter and then she started trimming the side and the center in such an artistic way. If I am not wrong Jaclyn is an artist and working as a heir dresser on the side. The room were she conducted the haircut was so neat and smiled so fresh. Finally, she applied some cream that gave my hair a magical shine. Definitely, I will come again, this is my favorite salon.
