Jason Turkot Don’t even consider letting this guy operate on you. He did a posterior fusion and literally placed screws on my c7 nerve root and was in denial and combative when confronted he dropped me as a patient . I now suffer from nerve damage do to his surgery and know others that have had failed surgery and treated the same way by him. DO NOT even consider surgery with him you’re just asking for issues

Susan M. I had two surgeries from Dr Child. Surgeries went well, however taking a lot longer recovery time but that might be because I was in my mid 60s. I found him knowledgeable and very compassionate. Especially when it came to my aftercare with pain management. He wasnt "judgemental"! Again, he and his PA Dana Randall were both very compassionate! I highly recommend him as a surgeon.

Michelle Maattala Both Dr.Childs and his PA, found the cyst in my spine. With one mri, I was suffering with pain for almost 4 years other places just did injections, pushed meds. They were a blessing to my family and I.

Kathi Dobrow Ive been seeing Dr. Krull since 2019. She has provided the necessary treatment for my psoriatic arthritis; however, its like pulling teeth trying to get a question answered. Ive repeatedly asked her about a finding on a test result from January of 2024 (its now March 2025), and I STILL dont have the answer. I saw her yesterday and, once again, asked her about the finding, and, yet again, my question was not answered, although she thinks she hasnt been dismissive with me??? Ive been having to research on my own to correlate the medical findings with what my body is feeling, but it certainly doesnt replace the knowledge of a physician. I wish Dr. Krull has some insight into what being dismissive does to my mental health. Im, unfortunately, going to have to find a new rheumatologist.

Jennifer and Duane Hamburg Dr Locke provided excellent care. She took the time to thoroughly addeess all my questions and concerns. There were no complications with the surgery she performed. Her office staff were organized efficient and compassionate. I feel lucky to have found her and recommend her without reservation.

Rachel Nachtsheim Dr. Chipman is always doing his best to help. He listens to his patients and actually tries to understand what’s going on. I’ve had a lot of doctors tell me what I’m feeling and what I should do, but Dr. Chipman lets me tell him what’s going on with me, trusts that I know what’s happening in my body, and does his best to give me help in any ways he can when I need it. He has an open mind, he cares about his patients, and he makes relationships with them rather than just seeing us as another name on his clipboard

Nancy Conway Im met Dr Chipman recently for my initial appointment with him to establish as a new patient. I was very impressed with the amount of time that he was willing to spend with me going through MyChart. I feel very comfortable having him as my new physician and would strongly recommend/refer to anyone else.

Mike Froelich We took our 8 year old son to the emergency room on Sunday afternoon with severe abdominal pain. They were able to see him quickly and diagnosed acute appendicitis. He was in for emergency surgery and we were able to all go home later that night. The entire staff was extremely good and caring. Our son was terrified of needles and the nurse that started the IV was just amazing with him. We were all extremely impressed and thankful for the staff at Barton Memorial Emergency Department

Sara Fisher Kind ER nurses and doctors who took great care of me. I was probably the most sick Ive ever been in my life, but I was in and out of the ER and feeling significantly better in less than 2 hours. 10/10 would come back but I hope I never need to!

Jason Wharton I separated my AC joint at heavenly and needed to go to the ER. This the most positive hospital trip I’ve ever had. Everyone was super friendly & knowledgeable. They got me in quickly. I got x-rays, they had a radiologist look at the x-rays and get back to the doc, gave me medication and a print out of the visit with additional info, within about an hour and a half. Dr. Tonini was great, and even called for a follow up a couple hours after I left, the ER, which is unheard of ! They emailed me the x-rays and the after visit summary, I even had some issues with the receiving the x-rays via email, and they went out of their way to make sure that I got them. Can’t say enough good things about this experience.

Aleksandar Rvovic I came with vomiting and diarrhea dehydrated with no fluids or food for > 24h and already knowing I had Influenza B - took them more than ONE HOUR to start IV fluids (just normal saline) AND ED was pretty EMPTY!!! -It actually took my mother to go and ASK them to do that before they even came in with the bag. Then they could not find a vein etc but that is minor. They truly care about their patients as you can see from above! No need to mention that I will never be returning to that ED. What a joke! Zero stars is what they deserve.

Adriana Bailey I’ve been going to Alison Monroe for almost 2 years now. Generally when you establish your doctor, you get in right away. They are a super busy office, but always got me in within a week. Alison is kind, listens thoroughly and provides a great experience. She doesn’t suggest medication until all natural alternatives are explored. I LOVE THAT! There have been times when she wasn’t available and other doctors have stepped in, everyone in this office is amazing! The reception staff is incredibly friendly and always provide great customer service. Thank you everyone at Alpine for doing good things and promoting a positive and healthy energy!

Stevie Ive been seeing Kelly since 2018. My health has declined and she has help to support me every step of the way. She has truly worked though all kinds of issues that have come up. Its nice to have a health provider sincerely care.

Allie Evangelista Don’t have a legitimate need for medicine and go to Kelly expecting anything, she won’t listen and doesn’t even care, she just wants the “perfect” reputation to turn in her stats to the state. Will never prescribe medicine she doesn’t “feel” like prescribing even when it’s necessary and has been prescribed your whole life. It’s sad, I’ve had multiple surgeries that lead to pain, diagnosed ptsd with a physiologist, and all I am perscripted is allergy medicine (aka Benadryl) to ease anxiety and to sleep. Moving to a different doctor ASAP. Worst experience ever. I’m not a pill seeker but why would she treat us all like addicts when something is truly necessary? Really disappointing.

Gillian Beacham Each time I call on hold for a minimum of 17 minutes, appointments five weeks out. No online portal for making or canceling appointments. If you fail to show for an appointment you can never get care from that office again. If you have to cancel an appointment within 24 hours, they need to have online access or make canceling hold time no more then 5 minutes.

Gary Mendel Went to him for 15 years , hes lost it , too busy to pay attention to patients concerns , I have fibromyalgia, arthritis and peripheral neuropathy, I went in with anxiety and asked for a Valium, he went off on me , now he recently had told me to just call , I was also on Valium, soma and vic for years . Now I use only when needed , he decided to not give me any more medication , for a condition thats not curable . He also puts in a message for no refills. So now no doctor will help under Barton flag . Who could treat a patient with chronic pain , brain fog , arthritis and just cut off medication after 15 years , cold turkey . In emergency last night for 6 hrs from pain because I have no meds ! Complaining to ca board , I will fight this no empathy full of himself narcissistic dr and sue him if necessary!

Ken Breslin Responsible and friendly group of physicians and physicians assistants as well as competent staff. I retired to South Lake Tahoe and feel very lucky to have found Alpine Family Practice as my primary health care providers. A big plus is their direct association with Barton Hospital. The MyChart website keeps me informed of upcoming procedures and appointments and allows direct contact via messaging. Definitely 5 stars!

andrea Sanchez-Alvarado Dr Patrick Martin is a great doctor but it’s become very hard to get in to see him. Fernando has been a patient of his for over 20 years. My husband wanted an appointment to see him because he’s been having some serious issues that are not life or death but very important. Well Stephanie who she said was a scheduling member in his office said when I asked for the first available I was told that the first available wouldn’t be until November 2024 it’s July 15, 2024 that’s four months!! Seriously he could die before he could get in to see his Primary Care Doctor! Stephanie said she could have nurse call my husband. My husband doesn’t want no one else but the doctor, it is his practice not the nurses. I asked her if the Dr was so busy if he could make some time for an urgent matter in his day or perhaps he could refer us to someone not so busy. Stephanie basically was talking for Dr Martin and didn’t care of our urgent need to see the doctor and basically was telling us to find a new primary physician on our own. She didn’t care that this had been our doctor for so many years. I ask Dr Martin, “are you aware of how your staff is treating your patients? And do you care?”

Christian Waskiewicz No follow-through, poor communication. Our initial new patient consultation was encouraging. Dr. Martin asked questions and formed a written treatment plan. Blood draw requisition was to be scheduled. The proposed date came and went without any communication. Two calls to office and a direct email to doctor requesting said requisition were never answered. I cancelled follow-up appointment, as there were no (proposed) blood draw results to discuss as stage 1 of plan. Disappointing customer service overall.

Jesse Patterson I have been going to Dr. Martin since early 2014 and he has always been excellent at spending the time with me necessary to explain everything I have questions about. He does not hurry to prescribe medication and is very interested in listening and getting to the root of the issue. In this day and age of Rx doctors who seem to not want to hear your problem and only give you the newest drug on the market, Dr. Martin is an exception. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a good family practitioner and I will be taking my entire family there as the children get older.

J Wagamon What a wonderful group of people working in the ER here at this hospital. I’ve had my share of ER visits and I can say kindness goes a long way when you’re beat up. These were very kind people that were spending time with their patients all the way from the techs to doctors. Everything moved quickly despite them being busy. These people care!

Angela Lane While on our annual ski vacation, we needed the services of Barton. My husband had a terrible fall at Heavenly and required an ER visit. From the moment i pulled into the driveway, we received thoughtful, attentive, compassionate care. Cody was a ROCKSTAR in retrieving my husband from the vehicle and throughout of visit. He was kind and respectful, thoughtful and caring. Kathy and Dr. Jantos also went above and beyond, making sure to provide detailed explanations and provide for my husbands comfort throughout our visit. They were so kind and treated us as family. Having to seek care when away from home is daunting but the Barton ER staff was amazing! Thank you all again!

richard hammer On Feb 1st 2025 , i went to the ER because i couldnt breath. My Oxygen level was at 84 when i woke up .It turns out i have pneumonia and rsv .I was admitted for the night and released on the2/2/2025.Though i dont remember all the names ,i want to thank Christian in the ER and Dr. Andrew Tang and the nurses and respiratory therapists that were there up stairs .I appreciate all your caring expertise and compassion. Tina borgeson Thank you so much to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Barton who took care of my 22 year old son yesterday. He was snowboarding with friends for the day at Sierra-at-Tahoe and had an accident. Ski patrol responded and brought him by ambulance to the ER at Barton. He said everyone was so nice and treated him so well! As a parent it was the most terrifying call to receive from his friend. We live almost 3 hours away and not being able to be right there was so scary. But knowing he was made to feel safe and comfortable and being taken care of means the world to us. The staff answered our questions when my husband called, and gave him extensive after-care instructions for managing his concussion. They were thorough with CT scans of the head and Cspine as well as a chest X-Ray and labs. As we were driving to the hospital, our son called and said he was being discharged. We are so grateful that he is ok!!! Thank you to everyone who helped our son Ryan yesterday and for treating him with such kindness and compassion in the absence of his family!

Jerry Murray I recently transfaey from this hospital to a rehab center after breaking 7 vertebrae’s, 2 ribs, dislocated shoulder, and head concussion. As a former EMS worker and LiffeFlight pilot, I am familiar with hospitals. I cannot expressed how much I am amazed by the care I got here. I cannot expressed only use one hand to hold this phone and type this review but I did not want to wait to say they even made my care there as nicer as it was. There are many staff members (you you who you are because I told you) that I promise to get you the recognition you deserve!!!!!

MARSHA WINCKLER I always received competent, gracious service here, but when they changed the name to emergent care so they could increase their charge I changed snow go to the CVMC Urgent Care in the building just north. Same good service but I pay 1/4 of what the ‘Emergent’ Care’ charges.

Barbara Heald We were visiting from out east when my husband became dramatically ill. As he has multiple existing health conditions, we decided to go to Carson Tahoe Emergent Care. Given his history, we are no strangers to visiting urgent care and Emergent Care centers around the US. The entire visit was positive, from the initial contact with the receptionist to the admissions coordinator to the medical personnel - special shout-out to Nurse Kate and Dr. Kenney! All were calm, friendly, efficient and competent. Thanks so much for making a very stressful time as good as it could be!

Sarah Gierhart Husband just went in for treatment of strep throat. He is autistic and I typically go with for better communication amongst ourselves, doctors and nurses as he can get overwhelmed but he went solo this round. Dr. Kenney was wonderful but the nurses Beth Boschee and Sue Etchogyen were incredibly rude, rough with the strep swab and even more rough with the penicillin shot he needed. It is very rare that he complains about anything so hearing this from a man who normally just keeps quiet is bothersome. After consulting with a family friend who has also been to Carson Tahoe Emergent Care many a time, it appears these two nurses in particular have a tendency to act this way towards most patients. How disgusting that these are not only the type of people you employ but continue to allow to “care” at your establishment. Aren’t employees meant to be a direct reflection of the company itself? Perhaps a meeting on bedside manners and proper care? As a former CNA the lack of manners and roughness is concerning. Do better, Carson Tahoe.

Debra Clark Here I am 4 PAINFUL years after a colonoscopy done by Dr Daniel Norman. I have had nothing but problems with my intestines since this invasive procedure done by this brutal Dr. First of all, I was GUARANTEED that I would be conscious throughout the procedure. WRONG. I was given the amnesic drug and woke up in a stupor having NEVER EVEN MET THIS DR.....he didnt even have the decency to introduce himself before they put me out and obviously man handled me as I have now had 4 years of constant pain and Doctor appointments due to the pain and damage caused by Dr. Normans careless approach to this standard wellness check up. Finally, we found that damage to my ileocecal valve occurred when Dr Norman did a rough and careless colonoscopy. The pain ansd suffering of the past years has worn me down. An issue with the ileocecal valve can mask itself with so many different symptoms, it can be difficult, expensive and time consuming to diagnose. It can show up as sever neck, shoulder and hip pain and many other issues. I am now going through the long uncomfortable process of healing, which requires a strict diet and localized massage. I am already on a strict diet due to kidney disease. The damage caused by Dr Normans carelessness has restricted my diet to a handful of foods now and I warn EVERYONE.......DO NOT let them put you out for this procedure. They have to be more considerate when you are awake.....awake DOES NOT MEAN giving you amnesic drug!!!! Debra J Clark

Juliane Piiloblondie Müller Pretty terrible. The front desk staff are nice enough. the doctors arent worth much and they dont stick around for long. The few times I went here, i always was seen by a different doc because the previous one had left. You explain your stuff from scratch again, the new doc doesnt bother reading your chart and puts in the wrong referrals. is like herding cats here, you have to chase after your stuff and call every day to be transferred to someone else again, just to make sure your things are finally moving forward.

Dalila Worst patient care ever! The doctors are great! The front desk however, are so quick to turn you away and have you deal with your appointment problems yourself! I’ve been trying to get in for the past 4 months and they turned me away and told me it was canceled. They are not sympathetic or caring for the nature of their position. The whole time I was there Alejandra was saying in Spanish how she’s didn’t want to be there. She wanted to go home! Unprofessional and inappropriate! Hire someone who cares about their position not just their pay! I expressed to Kris why i was upset, it was nothing personal, just frustrated that i can’t get in to see a doctor. Then I asked kris if they take walk-ins she said no! I was told I can call Tuesdays and Thursday for a cancellation. Then she had said yes you can call everyday to see if anyone cancels. Kris is Mis-informative and inpatient. Both her and Alejandra need additional training to turn that place around!

A. Montez What can I say about this place. 1st, I had to convince cardiologist Dr. Young, MD to give my mother a referral to discuss heart surgery options. The nurse I spoke with to try and push for the referral, informed me she was talking to me on her lunch, as if she were doing me a favor. Mom shows up to the appointment with the specialist and was informed she needed to have heart surgery in two weeks because it was severe. My mom went in for heart surgery on 11/1 and her follow up appointment with Dr. Young was not supposed to be until 11/15. Next story: Dr. Botto did not order follow up X-rays for my father who had a hip replacement back in 2001. (This is in 2021 BTW). They sent my father to a PT. PT did not work. Finally was given a referral to a hip doctor. My father had a severe infection in his hip and had to have 1 procedure to just clean out the infection. Now, because of heart surgery, my father cannot get the second procedure done on his hip. My father is in chronic pain. (Dr. Young was also my father’s cardiologist and my father had a serious complication during the hip surgery. Cardiologist at University of Washington stated that my father probably had the complication during his hip surgery because his heart condition was not being treated). Basically….don’t go to any of the specialists here. Get a referral to Renown. Get a referral to Sacramento Uc Davis clinics. Barton permanently harmed my father and almost killed my mom. I wouldn’t send my dog here.

Kek “ZZR” Seriously the worst hospital Ive ever had the displeasure of visiting. I have used Barton 4+ times over years living in Tahoe and somehow each time they provide worse and worse service. My most recent visit we sat in the ER for 7 hours straight (not once offered water). After finally getting MRI results they had to transfer us to Reno because Barton doesnt even have a neurologist on staff. Seriously? And dont get me started on the billing $$$. Other reviews have said enough. They have decent employees, but this hospital is filled with rot from the ground up. They will probably charge me $1000 for this review. Drive to any other hospital unless its matter of life and death, and even then I almost would rather die than go here again.

Anthony Bonilla Bills preventative care as non preventative, something that shouldve been covered 100% by my insurance ended up being billed to me at over $2000 dollars, they never answer your messages on MyChart and never call you back like they say they will. Ive now had to bring my insurance broker into it to try to get it fixed and will most likely be sending in a complaint to the California department of Insurance.

Gina Grandinette In January after a skiing accident i was Brought by ambulance here. They did an x ray and sent me away saying it was a sprain. No mri was done. 2 weeks later when sprain was not healed saw ortho and said that mri should have been done- finally we did one, results another week later and saw my tendons were ruptured. And i needed Emergency surgery. Wish we had know sooner went weeks needing surgery. Healing process now prolonged as I just had surgery two weeks ago.

Saimon Gudini On July 4th 2022 at 9:30 am I was hit by a boat on the lake through no fault of my own. I arrived at the hospital, they took a picture, examined me and there were no bone fractures. But the invoice was sent for $26,500. Are you crazy there?? I will sue you!! Look at your reviews!! People write that you are racketeers!!!

Brianna Chrisman Barton Health is an extremely unprofessional healthcare provider, with a customer service & billing department that seriously pushes various health and insurance related laws. Barton misbilled my preventative care visit as non-preventative. Upon trying to resolve the issue, I was redirected three times to various departments, and spoke to different representatives who were not only incompetent but also directly lied to me about what they were seeing on my billing and medical records. They also consistently refused to tell my partner how much his physical therapy appointment would cost no matter how many times he asked, but continued to pressure him into booking an additional appointment for a minor ailment. The bill was close to $1,000 for a 1 hour appointment, not covered by insurance. My advice: Stay away from Barton. Unless you have a medical emergency that needs to be treated immediately locally, find a non-Barton provider even if they are a further drive away. My promise: I will continue to fight my battle with Barton, not only for myself, but for the folks who do not have the time or means to push back against the mistreatments by Barton that they have surely been dealt. Update: Notice the representative below didnt even take the time to give me a functioning phone number. Barton does not want to help you. I did find the functioning phone number on the many poor reviews that were below mine, and have called them. I will continue to update with what happens (I do not suspect it will be happy updates).
