Hannah Fusco Love this place!! I’m so happy I stopped by last year to get a hair cut on a whim! My partner & I have been customer’s for over a year now, and Chrystal is the BEST! This photo is of the haircut. Color was done earlier, but the CUT!!!!! Chrystal always does such an amazing job with my really complicated, thick curly hair. I love the energy and the environment here, super chill, clean and friendly. They’ll having you look like your best self in no time!

Natalie Hara Ive been coming to Steel + Lacquer for years, but Chrystal is the stylist that has kept me coming back! Chrystal always puts so much care and consideration into each cut. I know I can trust her with big hair transformations (of which I have had many). I always appreciate my pre-cut conversations with her about what to expect with certain styles and how to create a look that is custom to me. As a hair styling minimalist, I am grateful that Chrystal takes the time to explain easily attainable ways to make my cut look like I always came straight from the salon. If you go to Steel + Lacquer, definitely book with Chrystal!

Michele Raska Where do I even begin! Ive been coming to see Jarrod at Steel & Lacquer since 2018. Jarrod has transformed my hair and its never been better! I came to Jarrod for the first time with very color damaged hair, and was struggling to get it back to my true color. And from that moment my hair began its journey of growth and health (and I absolutely love it). I’ve had haircuts, partial highlights, highlights, color, bang trims, and blowouts, and I trust Jarrod with everything! With that trust Ive seen a huge positive change in my hair. Ive learned about the products, tools, and techniques to keep my hair healthy and strong. On top of being incredibly knowledgeable, Jarrod is so kind, hilarious, and a great leader. Ive had the pleasure of getting to know many other on his team, and one thing I mega appreciate about Steel & Lacquer is that no matter who you see, it is a consistent experience every time. Ive always been someone who loves going to the salon, and each time Im here it feels like "home." Im so grateful to Jarrod and the team at Steel & Lacquer, and look forward to continuing my hair journey!

Megan Fisher I love Steel and Lacuqer and specifically my stylist, Cruz! The ambiance of the salon always makes me excited to get something new done and Cruz always knows just what I’m wanting. She’s always fun to catch up with, she’s constantly checking in to make sure I’m getting what I want done, and she’s always recommending me new products to help with my hair. I will never leave her!!

Raquel Fisk Zena is one of the most incredible hairdressers I’ve had. I just met her, first haircut, and it is the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. I highly recommend going to her if you like layers (which is very in right now with long bangs etc. ) she’ll glow you up

Dani I had an amazing experience at Salon DnA! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and made to feel right at home. The atmosphere was stylish, clean, and relaxing—exactly what you want in a top-tier salon. Daniel is truly a hair artist! He took the time to listen to what I wanted, offered expert advice, and worked his magic. His attention to detail and skill are unmatched. I walked out feeling refreshed, confident, and absolutely in love with my hair. If you’re looking for a talented stylist who genuinely cares about his clients and delivers outstanding results, Daniel is the one to see. I highly recommend this salon—five stars all the way! clovis gal I had such an amazing experience with Felipe rangel. He did a keratin treatment and I am still blown away by the results. He is truly such an amazing stylist, very detailed and truly takes his time with you. I’ve been to other salons and by far this experience exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back. Thanks so much Felipe!

Autumn Anderson This review is for over all service over a span of probably 5 years. I was looking for someone that cut short hair for women without using clippers. Thats when I found Daniel Miller Co-Owner of DNA Salon. Hes a short style wizard, and excellent conversationalist, and hes never given me a bad cut. The salon is on Sutter a few blocks of Union Square. Its a clean, open space. The reception desk is always welcoming, and the place hums with chit chat and the sound of scissors cutting feverishly. I never have issues getting an appointment as I can schedule and pay thru their website. Parking on the street is not so good but there are several public parking lots/garages within walking distance. I will continue to see Daniel Miller until he is no longer available. Prices are in line with the area.

Katharine Harrison Amazing blonde color, tint, highlights, the works from Gari! Gorgeous balayage, my hair looks amazing but never too "done". The overall look is both pretty and sophisticated, and it grows out beautifully. Highly recommend, I would (and do) travel long distances to see Gari over anyone else.

Megan Laight I came to the salon with a butchered haircut with no hope and Megan worked her magic and performed a miracle. I walked into the salon feeling doomed and walked out feeling confident and happy again. Can’t thank her enough!

Heather Richbourg Samantha is truly an artist. I have long dark virgin hair, and really wanted the balayage but was nervous. I wanted natural but noticeable, blondish but not brassy, and well blended. Sam took the time to talk to me, look over all of my inspiration pictures, and talked to me honestly about all possible scenarios since hair color is never a guarantee. She explained the color process that no one else ever has to me! How all dark hair goes through the brassy tones, and needs to go lighter and then get toned back up to get the ashy brown colors. I trusted her and I have never been so happy with a hair appointment. She hand paints her balayage with a gentle lightener so my hair doesnt feel brittle or dry, and its beautifully blended. Couldnt be happier. The salon is beautiful but Samantha makes it amazing!

Shabnam Mokhtarani Tinee is an absolute gem of a human being and stylist. She is the only person that’s given me a haircut I’ve loved in my 33 years on this planet. I am Persian with thick textured hair and until I met Tinee 8 years ago, I never had a stylist that knew what to do with it. She is so thoughtful and sweet. She truly understands the art of cutting hair. I don’t even need to ask for what I want, she knows exactly what to do. She is the best!!

Tiffany Hom I relocated to San Francisco last year and have been searching for a new salon home, because we all know how difficult that can be! I am so grateful I found Cinta! Danielle, my stylist, is in one word INCREDIBLE! She listened, guided me, and gave me exactly what I was looking for! I am so happy to report Ive found a salon home! From my first interaction with scheduling and the fabulous front desk to my blowout, I felt completely cared for and everyone was happy and welcoming! Thank you Cinta Salon, Im so excited you exist!

Negar Shaban I got a haircut from Gilbert and Im super satisfied with it. I have long wavy/ kinda curly-also coarse frizzy (but still beautiful ) heavy middle-eastern hair and lots of it. I got a v shape hair cut with long layers. He was so careful to not cut my hair shorter than I wanted. Also he took the weight off which feels so good and looks stylish. Hes also a good company; a good listener especially when it comes to your hair requests. I had a great evening having my hair cut at Salon Mio Mio and chatting with Gilbert. Ill go there again.

Candace Forest To have a great hairstylist a five minute walk from ones house is my idea of amazing Karma! MioMio is a very welcoming and comfortable place and Gilbert is an exceptional stylist. He is creative, adventurous and highly skilled. He has a unique way of discovering what I really want and need in a cut. Added to all that, he is a great conversationalist and has a terrific sense of humor. I am incredibly lucky that this is all a 5 minute walk away!

Anna V I have severe hairstylist trust issues so I normally cut my own hair. But I trusted Gilbert to give me my biggest haircut in 20 years! He cut off about 6 inches and I feel like a new woman without the dead damaged ends! He did long layers and reduced some bulk to make my hair feel so bouncy but thick at the same time. I appreciate that he took a lot of time to consult with me and make sure we were on the same page about what the plan was. He was open to collaborating.

Mona Tawakali Cirrus is an incredibly gifted at what she does, yet what truly stands out to me is her integrity. During our appointment, upon seeing the condition of my hair firsthand, she advised against proceeding with highlights until my hair regained its health. She even dusted my split ends while I was there and refused to let me pay her. I deeply appreciate individuals like Cirrus, who prioritize long-term relationships over short-term benefits. I eagerly anticipate embarking on my hair journey with her in the future.

Maria Lemieux Cirrus is an absolutely incredibly talented stylist! Im a fellow hairdresser, and decided to treat myself and be a "client" for once and booked with her. The whole experience from the virtual consultation to the ease of online booking to the lovely conversation in her chair and relaxing and beautiful salon experience were top freaking notch! Also my hair has never looked this good! I gave Cirrus a few inspo photos and trusted her to do her magic to interpret and give me what she thought would look best and she did not disappoint. I have been gushing about my experience and my beautiful hair to all my friends and coworkers for weeks now and thought Id better shout it from the keyboard as well!

Sarah McConnell Cirrus is so dang good at what she does. I started seeing her at her Walnut Creek location last year on the recommendation of my sister in law (who was a client). Cirrus immediately called out how unhealthy my hair was from previous over coloring and recommended I start with semi permanent color and gloss to give my hair time to heal. I have been to see her 3x now and she is magic. My hair has gotten way healthier thanks to her slow approach, plus the grow out of her live in color is to die for. It was so good I almost didn’t come back at my 6 month mark because I loved the way it looked, even after it had grown several inches! But of course I came back because then she does the touch up and it’s even better than before. Thank you Cirrus! You are incredible.

Julia Enthoven Really loved my first color with Megan Van Fleet. The salon is lovely and clean. Megan, a color specialist, was kind, knowledgeable, efficient, and clearly knew what she was doing. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, and Megan made suggestions about what would look best and educated me on how to care for my hair. The result looked good! Roots color plus full glaze and blow out took less than 2 hours. I was comfortable the whole time: simple checkin, good products, fantastic head massage. I appreciated that I could schedule after work and booked same-day through ClassPass. Going back next month for a haircut!

SO S Pros: Seems like a lot of tech bros come here to get their haircut and they seem happy with the cut and price. If you are a woman with a basic cut and thin hair I would come here. However: Me thick wavy shoulder lengenth hair: My experience: I made an appointment because i was sick of overpaying for bad cuts in overpriced salons in SF. I dont need to be told Im fabulous I need a good cut. I wondered, what kind of haircut I could get for 40 bucks? 1.Appointments seem to mean nothing you just line up. 2. IMO she was not done with my cut but had another appointment so politely out I went. For example: the woman I scheduled an appointment with took the inch off, however ran out of time to take the thickness out of my hair, and did not have time to shape it. (or she didnt know how) not sure which. So I still need another haircut. 4. On the positive I usually pay $200 for a similar incomplete cut so I was happier leaving knowing I only blew >$40 plus tip. 5. She was trying to do her best, but seems the salon is designed in a factory style. 6. The woman before me had a bob and it looked really good. Once again if I had thin fine hair and a basic cut I would go back!!! for my thick hair Im not sure. Over all an okay experience.

Mohit Moondra Walked in for a mens haircut and waited only 10 minutes before I got the fastest haircut of all time. Im talking 10 minute haircut + 5 minute shampoo + wash and the cut was amazing! For the price, speed, and style it was definitely worth it. Really great service and super friendly staff. Ill be back for sure.

Sharon Chan Fantastic cut by Annie - she was so great about squeezing me in last minute right before the holidays. No shampoo and just a quick blow dry, $53 including tip.

Ariel C. Tried this salon due to the good reviews but not sure where theyre coming from after my bad cut. :( Wasnt expecting a new look, just to chop off a few inches and keep the same style. I dont know how its possible but the layers I got were very badly done and do not look flattering at all after giving it a few days. I already had a bad feeling from the way my hair was being cut as Ive never seen such a way of cutting before, but was hoping the outcome would be fine. Sadly it was not. First time my hair still remained thick and heavy despite a layered cut. Have been getting layered cuts all my life and this ranks amongst the worst. :( Really bummed as photos from some other customers look decent. Did I just get a bad stylist?? Strongly do not recommend if youre looking for a standard cut for Asian hair. Dont take the chance if you cant guarantee the quality. :(

Anel Tovar I recently had my hair cut and deep conditioned by Stacey, and I couldnt be happier with the results! I was in a crunch and needed a quick appointment, and Stacey came through with flying colors. Not only did she fit me into her schedule, but she also did an excellent job with my hair. The cut is exactly what I wanted, and the deep conditioning treatment left my hair feeling incredibly soft and healthy. On top of that, her prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend Stacey for anyone looking for a skilled and accommodating hairstylist!

Rachelle Washington This is hands-down the most diverse, professional, and amazing salon in the city and the owner is absolutely amazing. They are usually booked up when Im able to get my hair done, but I was finally able to go and I was so happy with the results and hair care I received. I will be coming back pretty frequently.

Edna Snyder I had a great experience today at Hair Play!! It was my first time going and had looked up curly hair cuts in SF and this salon had come up as one of them. Booking on their website was easy and I appreciated the reminder texts. PEGGY WAS AWESOME! She is a lovely human. She listened to my requests and gave clear, reasonable instructions on how to replicate my style. I have curly hair and needed a trim/style and she did exactly what I didn’t know I needed. Highly recommend and will return to have her make my hair beautiful again! My only note about the salon is that the parking in the area is not easy to find so plan ahead! Beyond that - PEGGY IS AWESOME. *and also the receptionist, she was so friendly and kind*

Jay I was leaning on not leaving this review because I believe my bad experience doesn’t speak on the stylist themselves but that they may have been in the midst of a bad day but I have never been so disappointed about leaving a haircut like I was for this one, I mostly went in for help with how to part my hair and evening the length out in some spots but left with shaved sides which is the exact opposite of what I wanted, and nothing like the photo of what I was trying to go for I shared. I’ve been trying to be positive but I get really upset every time I touch the sides and think they really didn’t have to shave it so short. There was no energy/interest to do the cut and I can say they looked the opposite of thrilled to see me when I walked up. I should clarify now the haircut is not bad, it’s actually what I’ve already been doing for years for much cheaper. I came to this salon for help from someone who would know about styling more than a barber would but I feel like my wishes were ignored and they just went with what was obviously there before & just grown out and they trimmed it back down. I was given the most intense hair washing I’ve ever had, I wish I had said something at the time. There’s no way they didn’t have clumps of my hair in there hands at the end of it and it was before we even cut it. I can tell this probably isn’t how they are normally and I just got really very unlucky to get the brunt of whatever that was. I wanted to like the haircut, it’s not bad just not what I wanted or paid to get. I wanted to like the salon but I will never go back and can never recommend. I feel terrible complaining because I am anti confrontational so I didn’t outwardly show my disappointment then but it has really sunken in and I think this may be the worst experience I’ve ever had getting a haircut. I feel punished for something that wasn’t my fault, it’s the most bizarre thing to say about a haircut. I was a much happier person walking into the shop then leaving and I’ll be reminded until it grows back to where it was, which wasn’t long enough in the first place
