Suvendu Das The Warrandyte Historical Society was formed in 1976, following centenary celebrations for the Warrandyte Primary School’s original stone building when so much work, archive material and goodwill transpired that the historical society was formed in order not to lose the information gathered. Over the decades, loyal bands of members have cared for the collection and the museum housed in the historic Old Post Office. They have opened the museum at weekends; assisted in archiving the records; helped at working bees and provided support when needed. The museum is housed in the former Warrandyte Post Office which operated from 1876 to 1972. Left empty it was severely damaged by fire. Following its restoration 1985 to 1988 it became the Society’s home and museum. The museum devotes a room to gold discovery and its influence on the development of the town. The Aboriginal Room contains a history of the Wurundjeri people and their relationship with the area. Other rooms are used for special exhibits designed to showcase Warrandyte to residents and visitors.

My both the kids love this place and we usually visit in every 2-3 months. There are BBQ places and you can find few cafes near by

Graham Drew Photography A great place for adventure, small children should be closely supervised. The area has many old mine shafts, stay on the tracks
5 /5
Alina Dickins Great walk with a peek into this area’s gold mining history. It was fascinating to see Johnson’s mine with water containing something that was a floating neon yellow. My husband thinks it could be bioluminescence. Does anyone know if that’s correct?
5 /5
J OL Cave with water, cannot access

Georgie Haberfield Fascinating to see the entrance of an old mine, pity they never found any gold! Would love to know why the water is glowing yellow, what a mystery!

Chika We enjoyed walking in Warrandyte State Park. Luckily we saw a mother kangaroo with a joey and a wombat. That was definitely a highlight of the walk. It would be great if there are maps in the park otherwise it worths visit.

Eugenio Its a really nice park if youre looking for something near Melbourne and is kind of accessible with public transport from the city with bus 906 and a bit of a walk from Warrandyte. You can experience the Australian Victorian bush with many native birds and walk along the Yarra River. A few nice tracks, some points are slightly difficult. The blue tongue bent and the black flat tracks are worth to experience.
5 /5
Rowan Barr My Lofty loop walk and can also do a shorter walk and go straight up the steep hill on your right as coming along the path. Can see rare birds, kangaroos, amazing views all around and Maroondah Valley. Definitely worth a visit for nature lovers and hikers. No public toilets or BBQ facilities at Lyon Road entrance.

Ross Rowley Some idiot drivers while heading in. But otherwise nice clean area, very relaxing nap on the Riverside and kayak. Most people are considerate and maintain the relaxed calm vibes. Wish Id brought snacks

Graeme Forbes An interesting park with lots of wildlife and fauna around the Yarra River There are walking trails along the river and there is a tunnel through the hills cutting between parts of the river The tunnel was built to allow parts of the river to be dredged for gold but it was not viable and the company was liquidated about 1870 Access to the tunnel mouth is not suitable for people with disabilities or restricted mobility, you have to scramble across rocks and if you are not careful you could easily fall.

Issabele Popescu Beautiful place. Went with our kids there and we loved it. The view is magical and we saw some goats as well.
5 /5
Paolo Nice and easy walk along the river, you can choose between loop walks or from point to point walks. Grey Kagaroos around so be ready to meet them and be fast to take pictures!!! I wasnt able to walk a lot because not too much time, so it was a quick 2 hours speedy walk, but I enjoyed a lot!!! I will go back there whenever Ill be able to!

Iva Izman We love exploring different rivers and love the scenery here however it is quite rocky to get down to and the entire river floor is covered with rocks. It was excruciatingly painful to walk. Lucky we got floaties to float. Theres no coal BBQ allowed, no dogs allowed and hard to get parking
3 /5
Sionainne Costello A few spots to get down to the water, an easy few minutes walk from the carpark down to the tunnel and water. Can be freezing but nice on a hot as day

Effendy One of the best kept secret bushwalk with water feature. Stroll along the stream or take a dip in the water during the hot Melbourne day. I saw some people fishing in the river too. Youcan relax and enjoy the bird sound from the surrounding. It is an easy walk which takes about 1 to 2 hrs depends on your speed.
5 /5
Nara Lee Great bushwalk with plenty of parking, has a toilet and picnic tables as well. Lovely place to get in touch with nature as it is not too busy and the trails around the river go right up into the bushes. Fun time.

Lyndon Voigt Fantastic place for a hike along the Yarra River. Upstream is easier going while the downstream hiking track is a bit more challenging in some sections.
