SS Newly renovated park. Old playground plus new playground. Both are excellent for kids of all ages. The bicycle, roller blades, scooter trail is a great course for kids to really move. BBQ facilities and a decent size oval to kick a footy around. Tennis courts. Ample parking around the area. Definitely one of the best parks on the west side

Carl Bronkhorst Great park, plenty of benches to sit at, walking path and play equipment. Local community, come drop off your unwanted tip truck & excavator toys in the sand pit. The playground it self it quite creative, the walking path has a small scooter/bicycle area for bigginner kids and alike.
5 /5
Mary Huynh Good range of play space for all ages. Sandpit was a lovely addition. The bike track is also handy for the older kids. On the other side is a footy field with a cricket pitch as well. Great facilities for the whole family
5 /5
Antony D Has it all. Barbecues. Toilets. Parks. Swings. Water play. The park area is far from the road so kidlets are that little bit safer. Parking on either side. Fairly busy so always safe.
5 /5
Maria Diana Syrakis Great park to visit with kids 2-10 years old. There is both an old playground and a new playground with age appropriate equipment for 2 years and up. The older playground has a lot more shade and the new does not. There are shaded areas with picnic benches and BBQs. Toilet block. Small carpark to the side of the reserve to use.

RagingGlory I love Footscray Park. It’s huge, vast, quiet, beautiful and I adore that the Maribyrnong River is right there next to you. The loop along the river and against the Racecourse is really fun and a great length, especially for walking dogs. The Racecourse side is essentially “fenced” in the entire way, your dog can just run with you on the path since theyre bordered by the river and the giant wall of the Racecourse. There is one section that is on-leash but most of it you can let your dog off and they can have a splash in the river too. It’s really disappointing that the adventure playground has been dismantled, and a lot of the beautiful paths and lakes have been fenced off for probably 5+ years now. Maribyrnong Council, please speed this up!

Alfa Omega Nice place to chill on a Sunday afternoon. Well maintained gardens with dozens of different plants and trees. Overlooks the Maribyrnong River and Flemington Racecourse. BBQ facilities, children’s playground & toilets.
3 /5
Jawad Arain The 15 hectare park is located on the south bank of the Maribyrnong River in Footscray and largest and most intact Edwardian garden. The park occupies a wedge-shaped area of land, comprising hill and river flats, between Ballarat Road and the Maribyrnong River, opposite Flemington Racecourse. Lots of amenities including shady trees, bbq area and playing area for kids.

marg willis Very pretty park with plenty of lush green spaces. Good paths. Lots of big leafy trees to lay under with great views over Flemington to the north.

Nomyen The temple has stunning traditional Chinese architecture with bright colors and detailed decorations. The big golden statue of the Heavenly Queen is very impressive and easy to see even from far away. The area around the temple is clean and quiet, perfect for a calm walk or taking nice photos. It’s not too crowded, so you can really enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. A great place to visit if you’re nearby.

Gilbert Tan Very nice temple, it passes through train network and i can tell you for sure that the view is beautiful. This taoist temple is massive with divine architecture. It has an old building feeling in ancient times so it makes it feel more traditional. Would recommend visiting or coming here.

Justin Ling Every visit to this temple feels more special than the last. The architecture is stunning, with intricate details and serene surroundings that make it a truly beautiful place. My recent visit during the festive New Year celebrations was especially magical—the vibrant decorations and spiritual atmosphere added an extra layer of charm. Whether youre seeking peace, beauty, or cultural richness, this temple never disappoints.

Dino Singh The Heavenly Queen Temple is a beautiful and serene place of worship. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Kwan Yin, who is the goddess of mercy and compassion. The temple is located in the heart of Footscray, and it is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The temple is open to the public and visitors are welcome to come and learn more about the Buddhist faith.

fung lucas The community arts center was small and underwhelming. Furthermore, it is also positioned at a not so convenient spot from the train station. However, the exterior gardens area adjacent to the footscray wharf was pretty decent.

rhys cousins Multiple buildings with large public open space facilitating a range of arts and culture events and is well loved by locals. All buildings are wheelchair accessible. public space has an abundance of seating, a public artwork and large grass spaces by the river. Multiple artist studios, exhibition spaces and performing arts. The organization supports local, emerging and underrepresented groups. A cafe shares the older bluestone building with an abundance of outdoor and indoor seating, local goods, baked treats and strong coffee.

Loki McCorquodale A lovely spot just a few minutes away from Footscray station. You get an awesome panoramic view of the city from here, and can simply enjoy the well maintained gardens by the riverside or grab a bite and a coffee at the Cafe. A lovely spot for a picnic or a night out with friends

Nic Casanova Amazing, diverse, eye opening space for local art and artists community. Staff area very receptive and helpful. I had many questions, about price listings, artist development programmes, etc. Grace at the desk was generous with her time and information. She also mentioned the future reaching focus of FCAC to support the Aboriginal and indigenous communities as well as African diaspora community which is so a part of Footscray. I really value that FCAC is prioritising voices that need more air time (for several reasons).

Mighty Brown Mouse peter has been operating with his son warwick for the past 38 years and you have to take your hat off on the intimate knowledge he has of the area along the river, which is steeped in history. if you want to slip into the old world, jump on board for a leisurely and informative tour with blackbird river cruise and learn more out the maribyrnong river. it is worth every cent paid.

Christine Lovely way to spend the afternoon. Went out last Sunday day with family and thoroughly enjoyed getting to see a part of Melbourne that we dont normally get to see. The driver/host is very knowledgeable and incredibly well spoken as well as welcoming. Highly recommend taking family or friends out for a reasonably priced afternoon on the river! P.s. kids would love being able to wave out at all the people walking along the river too.

Kim Prentice Bit sad to see that old dog stuck in that concrete yard all by itself. Is that humane practice for security anymore..

Paul Pavlinovich We had a wonderful cruise upriver and saw an incredible landscape that we had no idea was even there. The commentary is knowledgeable and delivered with such a smooth and polished narration. The Blackbird is an awesome old boat and while shes a bit rough around the edges the high level of maintenance is very evident as she runs smooth as silk. Ah awesome time thanks guys.

World Foodie Great alternative to the commercial tour operators on the Yarra; quite literally two men and a boat! The two men are a father and son team that have been plying the lesser known Maribyrnong River for 40 years, and deliver a commentary on the rich history and local ecology of the area.
