Susan Clark "I love my hair" is a phrase my husband hears every month when I arrive home from Mantra Salon in Carmel. Located in the Court of the Fountains on Mission it is a charming salon run by the owner, Veronica. Veronica is an expert in color and gives the best hair cut in Carmel by far! It is a very friendly personable shop so offers a very pleasant relaxing experience which is very important to me. Ive been going there for about 12 years now and love it! Also, Michelle, the manicurist, gives an excellent manicure or pedicure in a relaxing setting which is a relief in comparison to many of the frenetic nail salons around. All in all, a great experience and most important - a great result!

Kimbley Craig Like most women, I cling to a hair stylist for years until I either get 1.) a bad haircut 2.) Im just generally not happy with my hair. I found Mantra (and subsequently Veronica) through a friends recommendation, almost 12 years ago. I have gone short, I have gone long, I have wanted bangs, I have said "get rid of the bangs"---you name it. The one thing that remains consistent in my hair decisions is that Im always excited to get my hair cut from Mantra, and I always get a fantastic cut. Most recently, I chopped off most of my hair---about 7 inches---and got a long bob. Short in the back, longer in the front. I FREAKING LOVE IT. Additionally, Ive attended a lot of formal events, and have requested all kinds of formal hairstyles from her---I have straight/wavy hair, and Veronica has done pin curls, up-dos, side-swept hair, big Texas hair---all the looks. Literally---I have been thrilled every time. She gets a lot of clientele who are visiting the Carmel area, but her base is local. Theres a reason for that. Shes talented, friendly, uses great product, and knows how to listen and execute what I want done with my hair. I dont give many Google reviews---but in this case, shes five-stars and deserves it. Go see her.

Sandy Gardiner Had finally found the hairdresser of my dreams then moved to San Jose. Tammy is the quintessential hairdresser! Beautiful haircuts that move! Julie M I have been going to Diana for a several years. (Followed her to this location) She is a creative artist with hair. She listens to you and executes flawlessly. I love that I can replicate the "look" she created for me afterwards at home! She is truly a gem. The salon has a warm, friendly, and creative atmosphere.

Julie Conover Unpretentious, locally owned salon with an a la carte menu, and reasonable prices. You can choose whether you want a wash & cut, dry cut, or the works with blow dry styling. I’m very happy with the job Kim did on my hair! Highly recommend if you are not into the ridiculously priced cuts in fancy salons.

Jeni Dee Love the whole crew, but Dorothy is my go-to gal! Ive had more compliments after a haircut from Dorothy, than ANY salon job Ive had done before. Cant beat the price (leaves room for a generous tip... hint hint), and the atmosphere is light and fun. I always make an appointment, but if youre okay waiting 20-40 min, walk ins are always welcome. Theyre awesome!

Art Gallery Services Ive been a client of Heidis for more than 6 years now and am really uncomfortable going anywhere else if Im traveling and need a style. Normally see Heidi but have a couple backups including Rita for when I dont plan ahead and get on Heidis schedule. Love you girls, youre the best! Phillip~

K Strickland I have to share that this was one of the most bazaar hair appointment experiences I have ever had in close to 40 years. I made a special trip into Heidis to make an appointment yesterday. I was greeted by two stylists jockeying for my hair. Awkward. In the end, Joette won the verbal contest with a more assertive approach. I asked to make an appointment for a cut and color. Joette danced around making a future appointment. She did offer to cut my hair on the spot but could not do color. I didnt want two trips to get my hair done. She then offered to call me for a possible appointment the following week if she could not confirm an existing client appointment; but again, stopped short of finding a time that was available in her book. Today, Joette called to let me know that she didnt have anything for weeks, but a stylist named Andrea "might have time" to fit me into her schedule in the weeks to come. I should go ahead and track her down through her cell. Appreciate the assist but...how about someone from Heidis calls me to follow up and book an appointment. I understand if a stylist does not have availability for weeks – I expect any great stylist to be booked well into the future. But an "Elite" salon should pay special care to customer service. I just made an appointment with a stylist in Palm Springs for early December. Linda is top notch and I am willing to travel south for a long weekend to have her style my hair than deal with Heidis Salon.

Maggie Johnson We were staying at Lobos Lodge Memorial Day weekend. The new lady - Kim gave me a beautiful layered cut. I have fine, but a lot of hair and on a whim felt like cutting it. She is GOOD! Meticulously going over it where needed. Very happy. But I live in Napa - so am I going to find someone who can do exactly the same??!! Unlikely….. lol. Anyway - you can absolutely trust Kim!! I may just leave it until our return early September.

Lori McCullough Joelle is an artist! What she did with my layered, short hair is incredible! Between her hair artistry and Melissas professional makeup, I felt pampered and beautiful for my anniversary. Besides being masters at their craft, everyone at La Coiffure was warm, personable, and caring. Joelle even fit in my husband at the last minute so that he felt pampered too! Every time we return to Carmel, we will be sure to visit La Coiffure!!

Ronda ZillneR Joelle was so great! The salon is cute, easy to find and its location in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea is ideal. I couldn’t be happier with what Joelle did with my hair—a beautiful blowout. Everyone there was so focused on creating a wonderful experience. I’ll absolutely return next time I visit.

Carol McKibben This place is advertised as a Make-up Salon on Google.I called last week to make an appointment for hair and make-up in anticipation of a black tie event I attended on Saturday. I spoke to the owner who agreed to schedule me for 4:30pm that day for hair and makeup. However, when I arrived at the scheduled time, the shop was closed. By chance the manager of the inn next door arrived shortly after and called the owner of la coiffure who apologized and returned to the shop 15 or so minutes later. Meanwhile, I was becoming stressed about time and being late for the event. He walked in, started running water, and informed me that they didnt even do make-up--the most important reason I made an appointment there. The owner did style my hair in a nice way and in short order. But I had to rush home and throw on some everyday makeup before the event. It was completely false advertising and poor business practice.

Tara Cavanagh Helen squeezed us in last minute (even calling me back on the Sunday before Memorial Day) for a Saturday appointment. I had an early 60s style updo that stayed perfectly on top of my head from 10:30am - 10:45pm! I only took it down during the dirty South hip hop hour of dancing at a friends wedding. That much booty dancing will shake out even the toughest of hairdos. Helens service was impeccable and Ive never had so many compliments! I hope to see her again (and her gorgeous younger version of Karl Lagerfeld coworker) on my next trip to Carmel!

D Mc I was extremely disappointed with my makeup experience at the salon! I booked my appointment for bridal makeup my appointment was at 12:30 for my wedding later that afternoon at 3:30. The experience was horrible! The makeup artist spent the majority of my session applying and then wiping away the makeup she had applied because she didnt like the colors, she did not seem to know what she was doing. I came in with pictures and had full confidence with the salon based on the price point and other reviews and I was very disappointed that my experience was so sub par. At 1:15 she was still trying to apply my eyes and I needed to leave at 1:30, when she finally applied the foundation it was not the color I needed, she had applied a very white foundation to my tan skin. At that point I had to leave the salon to make it on time for my photos without completed makeup. I had to complete my makeup on my own for my wedding. Makeup should not be offered as a service without an experienced makeup artist on site especially for bridal makeup!

Wendy B Just got my lashes done with Delaney. She is super sweet and accommodating, my eyelashes are full and look gorgeous. I’ve been getting my lashes done for years and sometimes haven’t had the best result. Delaney did a great job with a professional result . She’s the best !

Rebecca Smith Nassime was my stylist when I lived in CA, and to the day she is the ONLY person who has ever cut my hair to work with the wave instead of fighting it. I miss being able to just throw some product in wet hair, scrunch, and head out the door!
