Barbara A. McQuinn MD

Judith Dimalanta Was a patient of Dr McQuinn as I was referred due to constant debilitating migraines. I was told that the prior auth for Nurtec would only take a week. Dr. McQuinn is a lovely doctor but whoever runs this office needs to rethink their career choice. I called the office for MONTHS ON END and they never got back to me. Eventually they updated the answering machine voicemail and said Dr. McQuinn moved offices. Why did it take so long to update the office voicemail if they supposedly check it everyday. I call the number of her new office. Crickets. I call again and get someone on the phone (who was kind) and she said Dr. Mcquinn RETIRED. So I spent $15 for a co-pay each time I visited and each time they said the Nurtec prior auth was getting done and months later after endless calls I get news that she retired??? The front office said “You need to find a new neurologist to write then your prescription.” Why couldnt the office I had been going to FOR MONTHS do it when I was there?? They dropped the ball and an INCREDIBLY disappointed. There are no excuses. I have done prior auths at previous jobs and it is EASY. It’s a phone call to the insurance company and some cross checking and it is complete. Completely and utterly dissatisfied. If you want subpar care, come here! Otherwise I would suggest anywhere but here. I while the doctors at this office are wonderful, the office staff were HORRIBLE. They get paid to do what exactly? Sit around and not pick up the phones not check the voicemail? Not do the prior auths? I have never left a bad review about a medical practice but this left a sour taste in my mouth. For all that is good, fire the office staff or get them retrained.

Annie Jackson Dr McQuinn is a great doctor! Knowledgeable, helpful, caring and kind. Her staff is professional and helpful too! Dont know what would have happened to me without her guidance and skill. God bless her.

Otis Morgan 3 phone calls, over a month waiting, emails asking for my appointment after my doctor referred me and finally, after all of this, the medical assistant says they dont cover what I need. Neurology isnt something you can wait on. Dont waste your time with this unprofessional office.

Paige Peterson Ive never left a bad review for a medical office before, and hate to do it, but absolutely must in this case. First off, Dr. McQuinn is amazing. She is incredibly kind, caring, and detail-oriented. She helped determine exactly what I needed and really helped me get on the right path towards treating my migraines. Her staff and office, on the other hand, are a disaster. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional office before. She started me on a new medication in May, and told me to take some samples home while they worked with my insurance. A couple months later and there was no update, so I picked up more samples. I reminded them I needed the prescription filled and they said they would work on it. More time goes by with no update, and I decide to discuss it at my appointment at the beginning of September. I spoke with the receptionist who promised me and the doctor she would handle it that day. I told them I would not be picking up any more samples after that, as I am disabled and its a lot of work for me to drive all the way there every month to get a sample when it should just be sent to my pharmacy. After speaking with my pharmacy two weeks later and them telling me they have faxed the office three times requesting a prior authorization and had not heard anything back, I began calling weekly. No one at the office ever picked up, but I left a detailed voice mail each time. After a few weeks I began calling and leaving voice mails every other day. The patient portal would no longer work for whatever reason, but I did send some emails to the office as well (including one with the subject line "ATTN: Dr. McQuinn"). Never heard back. FINALLY, last week, after advancing to daily calls, the receptionist (the same one who claimed she was working on my prescription) answered and had no clue who I was, even when I asked if they checked messages (she said they do every day), if the phone number was correct, if the email address was correct, or if there was any other number or email to use. She told me to use the portal. I told her the portal wouldnt work for me and that I would like to speak to a tech department to figure out why. She said there was no tech department (Im pretty sure AthenaHealth must have one....) and that in the meantime just keep calling. I told her that I couldnt reach anyone on the phone, so she told me.....use the portal! Because of my phone conversation with her, she finally requested a prior authorization that day. A few hours later, my insurance company told me it was denied. That happens, so I wasnt too concerned, but I knew that I would need to get a hold of the office again because it seemed unlikely they would try to resolve this on their own. I left a voice mail every day until the weekend, and again today. Finally, this afternoon, that same receptionist answered the phone. She told me that they were not contracted with my insurance and never had been and that I needed to find a new provider. This is the doctor my insurance navigator directed me to, the doctor whose bills have been paid for by my insurance, the doctor who has worked with them on previous prescription prior auths, etc. What the hell? I have never been so disappointed or disgusted with a medical office. Im a relatively understanding and forgiving person and tend to put up with bs probably more than I should, but this is just insane. Besides one or two voicemails where I was obviously irritated, I think I have been incredibly patient with them, despite the poor management. But the few times I actually spoke with anyone, she was incredibly rude and just made things 100x more difficult. Im incredibly thankful that she wasnt treating anything more life-threatening or serious than my migraines because I literally would be dead by now and they wouldnt even notice. The irony of this being the doctor to treat my chronic migraines is just too much. If I wasnt already prone to them, Id certainly have a migraine after dealing with this office.

Ghol Sheikhol Im not surprised to see so many negative reviews for this place. I myself visited this clinic since my insurance was Sutter, and I regret doing that for numerous reasons. I think this is the worst Sutter facility. Ill be cancelling my Sutter insurance because of many horrible experiences with the staff at this location. I have informed Sutter Management and Sutter Patient Relations. Unfortunately, they dont seem to care. On the bright side, I learned something valuable though. I learned that Sutters real "mission, vision and values" is "not caring about patients".

Veronica Almazan Thanks to my neurosurgeon Dr. Weber Ive been seizure free since 2010. But thank God first than anything. Thank Jehovah God for guiding the doctors hands for me to be ok.

Joseph I was late to my appointment with Dr. Starkey because the Google map was showing the Sutter in Oakland. So I walked the wrong way for a while and then I realized It was the wrong way. The receptionist was rude, then she said she would call to see if he would see me. I waited for a half hour for her to finally tell me that he couldnt. Then she told me I should have put the address. She just made me wait. I have epilepsy. My fault! Next time I wont take BART from San Jose to see him.

Kyle Mckeen Dr Copper should not be practicing anymore. She is always late (sometimes 20-30 minutes) and she does not do what she says she will. I have had to call her office 6-7 without any results. Please save your time and see someone else.

Kyree Ruffin Ive been going to this clinic since I was a child, so I called them because I needed to see a doctor. I was told the earliest appointment isn’t until June. They told me to go to the emergency room instead. Mind you, this isn’t really an emergency, but I definitely need to be seen before June. I asked if they have urgent care, and they said no — the emergency room is my only option. The lack of care and concern in that phone call was painfully obvious. On top of that, when you leave a message, they never call you back. There was even one time I had an appointment, came back that Monday to pick up my prescription, and they acted like they had no record of me ever being there. They said I’d have to make another appointment. I’ve never seen such incompetence in the healthcare field in my life.

Tisha Hernadez I called becuase Im looking for a primary care provider. I was able to schedule my daughters to be seen quickly while mines was scheduled out in March to update my immunization records, and a physical for school. Which now makes sense, they offer many services so I can tell they are busy. The clark that supported me today was kind and took her time with scheduling. I took away a star because the platform "My chart" does not have an app to download which causes it some confusion when seeking to use it. Im looking forwards to seeing how things go in January 2025 at this new facility.

Monica Washington I used to love this place. My old doctor at the Watson center was amazing but unfortunately she passed away so I was sent back to the East Oakland health center. Everything was going well until they changed to Baywell. Since then the appointments are being pushed out three months. The medical assistants give you misinformation and nobody seems to know anything. It’s so unfortunate because I’ve been coming here for 20 years. Now I have to switch my providers. The community will be the one to ultimately suffer behind whatever merger or whoever bought it. Do better Baywell

Terry Lovett I love my doctor, Dr. Osher, but I wish she was practicing somewhere else because I don’t like Bay well health since they changed they have bad customer service and they have bad referral service

Joyce F The nurses are fabulous! However, the communication between them and the doctors seems to be nonexistent. The doctors tell the patient plans, etc. sometimes (not always) but the nurses find out from the patient! This hospital needs serious training in planning and communication!

Meta Music Terrible place. Im an honors student at UC Berkeley with a cumulative 4.00 GPA, have no psychiatric disorders aside from a moderate case of ADD, but I ended up spending a few days there voluntarily after experiencing acute delirium from work/school related stress. I was composed and polite the entire time, but most of the staff members were rude, impatient, and outright disrespectful.

Kimberly Cue I would not recommend going to this hospitals ER. This ER should be closed down before they hurt anymore patients. I will be contacting county council and the state medical board to request that their ER license be revoked. This hospitals ER hurts people, they are not there to help us. They need to be removed from our community before more people get hurt from their incredibly poor patient treatment. The main medical center provides very good care, the same day clinic is great, too, but this ER needs to just shut down. Do not go there, go to a different ER hospital for care. They do not deserve the 1 star I gave them. They deserve zero stars.

She gave my daughter a care plan we both agreed with. I know my daughter is in great hands. Happy with her service. Thank you Dr. Watkins. Orthopedic surgery

elizabeth hellen Our experience with Dr. Pandya and staff from registration to diagnostic imaging was simply the best out there. Special attention was given to my daughter and our family to minimize the stress in dealing with an injury and coming up with a plan to heal and maintain participation in her athletics while preventing further injury. We feel lucky to have this team helping us. We are recommending this service to fellow athletes and families who need sports medicine. Thank you!

Dante Ross We had an amazing experience at Benioff Childrens Hospital! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcomed and comfortable. They were incredibly attentive, always checking in to ensure we were okay and providing clear updates. The doctor was absolutely fantastic, taking the time to thoroughly explain every step of the process, answering all our questions with patience and care. It was clear that they prioritize both expertise and compassion, making the entire experience smooth and reassuring. We couldn’t be more grateful for the exceptional care and service we received. Highly recommend!

Palou SF Professional, Very kind and very helpful all at once. Brought my son for a sports related injury. Gave me really specific instructions to heal it without further damage and a plan moving forward. I believe he will end up continuing through my sons career. Also made time for appointments with ease, extremely responsive and prompt with results and ordering whatever was necessary to get answers . Appreciate him very much
