Blake Brown Visited the Perlman clinic for the first time. I was very surprised to see the availability of a doctor on a Sunday and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Victor Lin the day before. I was extremely happy with the care from intake until the end with the phlebotomist. Special praise for Dr. Lin, who was thorough, patient, and understanding during our visit. He offered clear and supportive advice and guidance and 100% agree with his course of treatment. I feel fortunate to have Dr. Lin as my primary doctor.

Julio Ramos My visit at your clinic was one of the most pleasant in my whole experience. Your staff professionalism was outstanding from the minute I walked in to sign in to the last minute when I walked out. Your staff emphasis on every question I asked gave me full reassurance and confidence I need it, especially since Im not fun of hospital or clinic settings. I guess thats one of the reasons I dont visit the doctor as often as I should. Thank you once again, with you I maybe able to brake that trend.

Giovanni Dal Bianco Easy to check in with the desk personnel which makes so much difference. Their friendliness is gratefully appreciated as in many places customer service can be desired. I always enjoy going to the Doctor’s office because I get treated with respect and kindness. Thank you for your great service!

wendy collins My M.D. was compassionate and caring my initial visit. But when I walked in with an onset of a full blown migraine yesterday at 5:30 p.m. needing assistance I was met with a complete lack of empathy and compassion and given a runaround about how they absolutely do not do walk-ins and are not Urgent care. Staff knowingly sent me to a closed clinic around the corner.I came back again asking for assistance and I was advised they would call security if I did not leave. Long story short, I am still in pain. I was advised by the PA for telemedicine to come back the next day for an injection of Toradol (a non narcotic) treatment that will not help now because I did not receive it at onset. I don’t understand the complete lack of empathy from staff in office which includes a PA in the office at the time.

Nadia Babukas-Galvan My family has been visiting him for years, he goes stray to the point , efficient and had diagnosed everyone in our family correctly and had given the right medication or solution to solve any of our family members health concerns or situation. His primary interventions had help us be in peace and not only guiding us to get better but to prevent getting sick again with general advices to do changes for healthy habits. But you have to be patience and understanding for the long waiting list and procedure for an appointment, if that is the case this is the right place for you.

Carlita Terrones He is a great Doctor. He is really kind, and smart. Yes there is a long wait all the time because his prices are about the best in San Diego that I have seen, but you can pre pay for the visit, leave your phone# and they will call you 35-45 minutes before your turn is up. I really liked that they offer that. All the staff is super friendly. Thank You!

Jesika Scott Terrible place, no parking, long wait times, predatory practices. Don’t recommend at all. Workers illegally sold my emergency contact to a debt collector to collect a false debt they say I owe for a window that broke when I closed the door to the shop. This is after police told them it’s not a criminal act and they wouldn’t pursue me because I was using the door not vandalizing anything. Obviously that is a civil suit if they really do think i’m responsible, which I don’t believe I am at fault for a flimsy window I didn’t purposely break, it’s not like I punched a hole through it I used the door as designed and it broke because they have heavy things hanging on the outside of the window that weren’t properly attached so they swung when the door closed. But because they know they wouldn’t win a civil suit they decided to make a false account collections claim. They put a charge on my medical account for a broken window that the police told them i’m not responsible for. Then had a best collector call my retired father in another state to try to collect the debt. Just imagine the type of person who uses your emergency contact to collect a dang they made up and hope you pay. Not to mention the pushing of additional services and tests and appts you don’t need. The whole staff should be ashamed of themselves to have broken an oath to protect patients, instead they are thugs bullying me with my own emergency contact information. https://yelp.to/6_w7n8CZz9

I have always felt like a priority during visits, and never that the doctor is just trying to get to the next patient - in fact they go out of their way to make sure all of my questions are addressed every time. Highly recommended!

Vaughn Baker Came for a GI scoping. Waited (literally) 11 months to get the appointment and paid $8k for it. Confusing facilities to navigate. And of the technology that patients have to interact with is not good. The kind of place that makes you wonder “is this even worth it?” After my procedure, for which I was put under anesthesia, I was handed a printout and quickly wheeled out with no discussion of the doctor’s observations. I had to ask ChatGPT to explain it to me. When the robot doctors come, sign me up.

Best place to have a birthing experience because the staff is loving and caring. Cindy at the front desk treated my family like they were her own. Sarah the speech therapist was extremely kind and Cesar the physical therapist was a great guy and got me walking again, Josh the patient advocate was also top notch. Overall to anyone that finds themselves in the position I was in I give this place a ten and they deserve 6 stars ⭐️ ❤️

Sanjeeta Thomas My first visit to the hospital has been an amazing experience. Staffs are so welcoming and polite. Nurse Joseph in ICU has been an amazing mentor and knows his job to perfection. He makes sure he follows hospital protocol while performing his duties and giving the best care to every patient he serves. He is knowledgeable in everything he does and passes it down to student Nurse in a very professional and knowledgeable way explaining in detail why its done. I will always maintain the same professional attitude that these staffs at Kindred hospital have because I want to be a amazing nurse like them. Thank you for being humble and giving us an opportunity to learn with you.

David Harper The kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable personnel at Kindred Hospital have shown that professionalism and expertise are still alive and well at Kindred. From the doctors to housekeeping, my wife has been shown nothing but the best care and respect of being listened to. These nurses, CNAs, kitchen staff, housekeeping, ICU staff, and security personnel have become like family because they really do care so much, my wife is not just another person to be dealt with, but a person who needs TLC to get back on the road to recovery. I would certainly recommend this facility if you are looking for genuine medical assistance for your love ones. I pray that once we leave this wonderful facility that we wont need to return, but if that happens, we know that we will be welcome back with open arms along with the smiles that each worker always shows even if they are having a stressful day. I can honestly say that my wife, daughter, and I have been shown nothing but respect, sincere listening, and a shoulder for us to lean on during stressful days. These people deserve more pay because I know that they truly earn every dollar that they are paid . Thanks Kindred!

Additionally, Joshua stands out as the best in patient relations—his ability to connect with patients is truly inspiring. Trish B I spent 85 days at Select Specialty Hospital and am certain it was the right decision. I chose Select based on their affiliation with Scripps. While there I was able to access my labs via Scripps’ portal, making it easier to read the results and discuss them with my doctor. In all honesty, I was initially hesitant about my stay as the hospital rooms are a bit outdated: however, that was me judging a book by its cover as the Select staff put my mind at ease. I was welcomed, respected, and thoroughly enjoyed my experiences with staff, from doctors, nurses, physical therapists, contracted dialysis, imaging, and wound care, CNAs, care managers, housekeeping, facilities, kitchen personnel, and the receptionist. (Whew! I think I included everyone.) More specifically, M******e from the kitchen, who personally went room to room to take food orders from patients, was a breeze to work with considering my many diet restrictions. M******e was thoughtful, considerate, dutiful, and interaction with her was a highlight to my day. N*****a with physical therapy was an enthusiastic source of encouragement. While in her care, she cheered me on and stayed positive, both of which are important factors in keeping patients motivated — me especially. The nurses and CNAs made an incredible impact during a long stay such as mine (85 days). Nurse shout out: S**e, A**l, T******d, F***z, A****e, D****l, R**e, M*****a, T****a, R***n, M***o, N*****a, F***i, V***y, S**a, K****y, E****n, B*****k, J****y, I*n, M*a! CNA shout out: Kuya T*m, I**a, G***a, J**n, R**a, A***r, S***y, R****a, R*****a, S*****a! Transitioning into life after discharge hasn’t been seamless in terms of setting up in-home care, but hey, considering all the working pieces, it’s understandable. Would I recommend? Absolutely! 10/10 **** I started out the names because privacy and all that. ****

Isaac Vargas I am writing to share my experience during my seven-day stay at Select Specialty Hospital, originally scheduled for eight days. After a minor procedure at Scripps in La Jolla and three days of observation, I was transferred to Select Specialty Hospital for recovery. Despite mixed reviews, I decided to give it a chance after speaking with Clinical Liaison Michelle Zhao. Upon arrival, the hospital felt eerie, and I was initially placed in a room with unsuitable roommates. The hospital seemed a little rundown and a lot of equipment seemed outdated. After raising my concerns with the supervisor nurse, Heather, I was moved to a more appropriate room, although it was initially bare and lacked basic amenities. A major issue arose with a male nurse who was unprofessional during wound care, prioritizing taking a photo of my wound over patient privacy (name unknown, Indian man with manbun). Heather promptly addressed this by assigning a more competent nurse and adjusting my uncomfortable bed. The situation improved from Saturday onwards with better nursing care and professionalism, despite some confinement to my room over the weekend. My doctor, Dr. Tran, was rarely seen and not very helpful. Wound care varied, with some staff being excellent and others less so. (Male nurse name unknown, very personable, his supervisor not so much) The worst part of my stay occurred on the second-to-last night with a nurse who mishandled my IV medication and seemed to lack basic nursing knowledge. Fortunately, the supervisor intervened, and I was assigned a more capable nurse (Natalia). On my final day, I was unexpectedly moved to a shared room with poor conditions, leading to my early departure. This move was poorly managed, with little communication and no follow-up from doctors. In conclusion, my stay at Select Specialty Hospital was disappointing, marked by mismanagement and lack of communication. Heather was a standout, providing excellent support throughout. I will provide detailed ratings on various aspects of the hospital separately. •Nursing care: 6.5/10 -Nurses that went above and beyond: Amal, Natalia, Pamela (another nurse, forgot her name said she was from east coast) and nursing supervisor Heather. •CNA care: 8/10 “Honey” was the best CNA! •Wound care: 6/10 •Hospital food: 6/10 •Doctors: 5.5/10 •Upper management: 5/10

Jeff Gibbs Warning to all !!! My stay at select specialty hospital was a nightmare. I had one nurse rub feses on my face, and talked to the CEO Tommy Le whom didnt follow up on it, another staff verbal abused me, and had another respatory therapist force my head down to give me medicine through a mask that I refused. Talked to the CEO and Justin Hanson about the incident and was told he had disapline action against him, and they just changed his shift, no future action for physically abusing me. Would never recondmend anyone to be in this facility.

Anna Choumakova My experience here was for labor and delivery and I was absolutely blown away by the incredible nurses and medical staff both on the delivery and postpartum floors! They made our experience memorable and everything felt seamless. I felt like everyone went above and beyond to provide support, communicate well and had an incredible bedside manner! I felt like I was in great hands the entire time. The facilities are also modern, comfortable and beautiful (where else do you get ocean view as you recover?!) and the celebratory dinner was a big cherry on top! I would highly highly recommend this hospital for L&D!

Just me I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors and nurses. Seven years ago, I gave birth here. Over the years, I’ve come to realize how fortunate I was that my son was born in this place. The nurses and doctors visited me frequently, constantly adjusting my position to prevent fetal hypoxia. Now, I understand that their care might have saved my son from potential issues later on. You can have a perfect pregnancy, but the birth itself can significantly impact the child’s future. So, rest assured that here, both mother and child receive thorough attention. They will monitor you as long as needed, right up until your baby is safely born. Regarding the ward, it always felt more like being in a hotel than in a hospital. It was incredibly comfortable. An extra bonus is the special dinner they provide to celebrate the birth of your baby. I still remember those steaks—they were amazing!

Carrie Kelley I just want to say thank you to the medical staff that took care of my father this past week. Even though his cancer was far too advanced to treat, they helped me and my family throughout the entire stay. They helped us walk through everything that was going to happen and set him up with a hospice team that allowed him to not be moved from his room so he could stay comfortable during his final days. Two staff members especially touched my heart, Erika and Shanice went above and beyond to show love and support through the difficult days all the way up to his final moments. The entire hospital is beautiful , it’s very clean and the staff is absolutely amazing.

Kishore Kumar Robbi Not a good place for primary care. We were made to wait for 3 hours and finally no treatment. And now we get a bill of $500 for consulting. We went there only for my wifes Rubella and Varicella-zoster vaccines. They didnt even think about to check if my wife was pregnant before trying to give the vaccine. Only when we asked a query whether it is ok for her to be pregnant before getting the vaccines they started with the pregnancy test. Total waste of time and money.

Anna Honcharenko The incompetence of the doctors in this hospital is shocking. My daughter was diagnosed with a staphylococcal infection in her throat and was prescribed antibiotics. After five days, the symptoms disappeared, but then returned after 2 days. Instead of changing the antibiotic, the doctor suggested waiting another five days. My daughter started vomiting, had a severe runny nose, cough, and ear pain. We had to seek emergency help as she was becoming dehydrated. Then the doctor of prescribed us the exact same antibiotic with an even stronger impact on the stomach. I know that the same antibiotic should not be prescribed again, as bacteria become resistant to it. In the end, we had to seek emergency help again to get a proper medication. I am simply shocked by the incompetence of these doctors. I do not recommend coming here.

K Dahl This place is going downhill fast with the turnover of really good providers leaving the lazy ones behind, particularly Dr Loper still there. Dr Loper started off great until I requested a letter regarding developmental stages in my child for the school. Even with Carmen the manager asking her to contact me, it was like pulling teeth and I did not hear from her for 4 weeks, only did after Carmen returned from vacation to push Dr Loper again to do so. By that time I had already handled it with the school not needing a doctor letter but her call refusing to even write a letter without talking to me and not communicating until she was pushed to do so should affect her license. Very very unprofessional! WE HAVE HAD TWO SUMMERS OF PHYSICALS RESCHEDULED BECAUSE DR LOPER DECIDE TO PUT IN FOR TIME OFF AT THE TIME OF THE KIDS SCHEDULED PHYSICALS WITH NO NOTICE ONLY THE NIGHT BEFORE. AVOID THIS PROVIDER. The last straw was today when I tried to get both kids in triaged calling in the morning after having been sick for 5 weeks. I was put on in antibiotic and much better proving it is bacterial and they were refusing to see the children today not until Monday though the kids stayed home today. That has never happened here. When I had Carmen the manager call me back knowing the previous history of shenanigans I thought they would fit my children in. I explained to Carmen that I am an on antibiotic and then I want a provider to consider that when seeing them today and hopes for an antibiotica is the same bacterial illness. Carman called back leading with, "Dr Loper will not give antibiotics unless she sees the kids and deems it necessary. So she says to go to urgent care." Well of course she did, simply to dismiss us, after her unprofessionalism most recently. Carmen was supposed to fit us in for an exam--pure &simple, conveying I was on an antibiotic and the length of the illness. Carmen, You were to call us back to try and fit us in not reiterating what I already know that they need to be seen before an antibiotic. Duh. They didnt fit us in today because Loper is abusing her power after not communicating last time and feeling awkward. I would have left previously had I thought this would affect my childrens care. I wanted the kids seen for a diagnosis and then for antibiotics. But not wasting my time completely against antibiotics with all the factors involved in our combined sickness. Definitely not with Loper abusing her power and deciding not to see my kids because of her own previous behavior. F this place. Definitely different than before. Go elsewhere. Update: With my youngest having fever, again, and sick straight for 5 weeks absolutely the urgent care prescribed antibiotics. It was unacceptable to try to put us in calling Thursday morning for the following Monday for such an urgent need. That has never ever happened until now at this place. Then to have Dr Loper continue to lord her power in hurtful ways not even seeing my children after her behavior previously, welp last straw for us here. Carmen the manager could have fit us in but instead chose to spew what was already understood about the kids needing to be seen, which is what my whole aim was, before Rx for antibiotics.

Kate Wilson If I could give ZERO stars I would. My 3 year old daughter came in wheezing & 103 temp. The doctor not only diagnosed her incorrectly with Croup Cough, but after looking at her X-ray and told me she didn’t have pneumonia. They release my daughter with a 100. 3 FEVER STILL, and two days of my daughter continuing to decline I rush her to her pediatrician who tells me right away that she HAS PNEUMONIA. The ER department needs to do better and learn how to be compassionate especially to CHILDREN. Can’t do that? Don’t choose a profession where you have to save lives with empathy. I will be following up with the ER doctor that treated my daughter. So so disappointed in the ER but thankful there are a handful of doctors that can actually do their job.

Typically a callback (wherein their representative calls you back at their convenience) implies a person actually calls you back. Surprise. I can’t wait to be back to SD this year and visit They have a great team, yes there is a little bit of wait but nothing is too long to wait when we take care of ourselves!

Derek Connor Very robotic/mechanical feel to every touch point in this office, especially when it comes to interacting with the physician. Doctor was more concerned with hunting and pecking on the keyboard to enter in the answers to the same questions I filled out in the 10+ pages of new patient forms, then he was actually getting to know a new patient and/or having a basic human introduction to a new client. Staff and Nurses were nice enough, but also very rushed and not personable w/their interactions.

Lala Zhang I cant express how much I appreciate the help and experience I get at Gaslamp Medical Center. I called in for the first time for an urgent appointment for my friends parents without knowing much about this clinic. The staff were super helpful, patient, kind and professional. The doctor is very nice, explains things well, and took care of our needs immediately in a very efficient and professional way. This is the best experience! Really made our day. Thank you. Five star is not enough. Thanks for everything.

belen lopez Great experience! The nurse are lovely and the Doctor too! We only wait 30 min. And the doctor give us a discount, because they dont accepted my insurance. He take time with us, and prescribed the medicine in a farmacy around the corner. I totally recommend this clinic

Cat Fizer-Rau I made a 10am appointment and wasnt seen by the doctor until over 90min after my scheduled appointment. I also verified with the gal who I scheduled the appointment with that my insurance would be accepted only to find out that they dont accept my insurance for annual physicals which is what my appointment was for. The staff is very friendly, but I dont think the office is well run. I really wanted to like this doctor because I can walk to his office from my apartment and he has worked in this community for so long, but it is a huge pet peeve of mine to have to wait so long for a scheduled appt. If the doctor is running late, clients with appointments should be notified ahead of time and asked if they want to wait.

Katrina Boggs All I can say is Glenda & Jazmin "SAVED MY LIFE" on spot! I was actually at the Hospital visiting my friend & one of the nurses noticed I was blue and very incoherent! I was having a Heart attack right there! I got immediate attention and response team and the ladies had to do chest compressions on me to bring me back! I was gone for about 6 minutes! Im ever so thankful & grateful to all the staff there! I love them! They took excellent care of me for 5 weeks following!! Thank You Coronado!

I came for an eyesight problem in the late evening and the ED and ICU departments were very professional and nice! I received a CT scan and an MRI the next day without incident! A that was on call nurse came in just for me for my trip to the ICU! They really care deeply about patients! Treat them with love and respect! May God bless this wonderful hospital! And the people who work there! So professional and wonderful! I am deeply grateful to them! With deep respect and love Catherine Jacobs

Ally Ann I should know better than to have high expectations for an Emergency Room, in San Diego no less. Please take the time to read my review before deciding to come to this location. Expect a long wait unless you reserve a spot online for later in the afternoon, (contradicting, yes). I presented with severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and chest pain. I was given a cubicle with a chair in the outdoor makeshift tent, the hospital is closed off to most patients. It was cold outside, and there were multiple mosquitos buzzing around me. I was not met with any comforting bedside manner whatsoever from any of the nurses or doctors for that matter. The environment and (lack of hospitable) treatment brought me to tears. They tested me for COVID and I immediately tested positive. After this, they offered some fluids through an IV. Then I was sent home with no resolution, no medicine (such as Veklury, Paxlovid, anti-nausea, or an inhaler), and no relief. Since this visit, I’ve lost 19 pounds and cannot keep anything in my system. My lungs feel like they are imploding. I’m scared, and I’m defeated once again by the healthcare system. I understand the severity of COVID right now and the rising numbers, and I also understand this is an Island hospital. However, I genuinely expected better from a place that is designed to treat sick and injured humans.

Emily Byrnes Being in the hospital is never easy, but my family members have been hospitalized here twice in the last couple of years for orthopedic procedures. The floor they are admitted to is extremely large and busy but the nursing staff are excellent. Will be back. Special thanks to the nurse who moved my father to a nice room with a view to help with his recovery. That meant more than anything, thank you for listening to us. Thank you Scripps !

Eddie Coastal At this hospital, the specialists and the doctors do not talk to each other. They do not help you trying to make your visit easier. One is trying to discharge you. Why the others trying to do it procedure on you? My daughter has been here 7 different times and the doctors come by once every day, or once every 2 days, not interested in helping you. If its not an easy case for them. They will not try to be involved. I do not like this place

Frank OConnor I had an emergency room visit here. While the wait was long (3 hours?) I was extremely impressed with the doctor. I was in for anaphylaxis and I actually got to see an MD! He spent a good 20 minutes with me trying to brainstorm potential causes of my allergic reaction. I’ve never seen a doctor in a hospital setting make such an effort to actually help improve a situation. It really was a great sign of a very caring doctor who was extremely kind and supportive and comforting to me during my distress. Sadly, I forget his name, but I was so beyond impressed.

Jacalynn Versoza This review spans Scripps Green, Mission Valley, and Mercy. Scripps doesnt seem to care as I have received no response after billing issues and internal review was submitted. On 1/29/24 I received a referral for a uterine fibroid embolization and a CT scan was ordered and performed on 2/14/24. I contacted interventional radiology on 2/19/24 to schedule my appointment. I was informed an MRI was needed as opposed to the CT scan. It took several phone calls and 10 days to get the MRI ordered. On one call, I was told I was talking too much while I was explaining I received the wrong imaging...I was charged for the CT scan that I didnt need as well. I finally received the MRI on 3/23/24. 0n 4/10/24 I arrived 20 minutes early for my consultation with IR. I was held in the main lobby by the front desk and apparently missed my check in at IR and they cancelled my appointment. I was still seen but for some reason they had a hard time finding my info. I received the procedure on 4/30/24. Check in went smoothly. When I was wheeled to the OR, I was cleaned and draped. During this time a male staff member said, "We only get free shows on Friday." Not sure thats appropriate. Unfortunately, they forgot to put a Foley catheter in and I had to go through the whole cleaning and draping a second time. My overnight stay in PACU was less than stellar. I was left in my blood for overnight and at one point my Foley catheter was not draining. When I was discharged, they discharged me on someone elses chart. I received medical care at a different facility and this persons medical issues are now on my chart and they are unable to remove them. I have to go through this long list of ailments and explain I dont have them. To date Scripps has received over $120,000 from my insurance and myself for this procedure. I was on a payment plan for the imaging and Dr.s visits that was delinquent by one payment ($104) and they cancelled it this morning. I sincerely regret using them for this procedure. I was a patient for 20 years and Im done. Please dont bother with a response Scripps as Ive tried to reach out a few times with no response.

V W I would give this hospital zero star if I could. I was recently hospitalized for pneumonia for six days, and my experience was extremely disappointing. Nurse Julia in 3 West DOU was negligent when I needed care and medication. She took a long time to respond despite multiple calls and failed to check on me even when I had a fever. Dr. Jean Min discharged me without sending my prescriptions to the pharmacy, despite reassuring me they would be taken care of. I would never have agreed to be discharged without my medications. Its completely irresponsible and unacceptable for a doctor to misuse their prescribing authority like this. This hospital clearly needs to provide better ethical training for its staff.

Their staff was at all times polite, courteous, knowledgeable and professional in every way. All needs were met and sometimes done prior to me asking for assistance from doctors to nurses, orderlies and cleaning staff. Great facilities as well.

Jamie Martinez Everyone is absolutely amazing at this hospital. We had to take my 1 yr old son into the emergency room- 1/15/25. From the moment we got there, the ER tech was absolutely warming and sweet to my son. He was so courteous. The RN that registered us, was so professional and caring towards him. She was great. When we went back, the RN, MD, and ultrasound tech were all exceptionally kind, patient, and, out of this world, caring! I’m so grateful for them and all they did to make us feel at home. Thank you from the bottom of my/our heart(s). It means so much to us.

Brianna Johnson I had a very miserable experience at the Zion ER center Monday-Wednesday. I had been dealing with kidney stones and was dealing with so much frustration during my visit. One of the top ones being that the lady who did my IV must’ve done something wrong because when she inserted it, it felt like the worst pain ever and I don’t usually experience pain or issues getting one inserted. It felt wildly painful and uncomfortable having it in my arm during my time there. It hurt to move it all and when I came home from the ER yesterday afternoon, there was so much blood under the swap and wrap around bandage they give you. I’ve never had that happen before and my arm was bruised. 1. Nurses gave us the wrong information on what I did/didn’t have before an actual doctor could come in and give us the accurate information & diagnosis 2. The lady pushing my bed from testing room to testing room on Monday had my IV string by the roller at the bottom of my bed and another nurse had to tell her to stop because it was going to pull out my IV if she didn’t fix it. 3. One nurse told me I could eat and as I was about to, the other one comes in and tells me no and grabs the juice out of my hand. 4. Couldn’t eat and was starving until I got answers from urology which, urology took up until the next day to show up and would come in hours apart from visiting my room. 5. Ultrasound lady was so rude to me and wasn’t patient or caring at all. Which, if you’re in that field.. you NEED to be so suck it up.

Claudia HLA I usually have good experiences with Kaiser, but last night was horrible. I was advised to go to the nearest ER by the nurses advice line because of possible complications from my surgery that I had that same day! After checking in and waiting over an hour, I asked the ED tech if there any recliner chairs or anywhere I can lean back because my incisions were getting pinched from sitting on those chairs in the waiting room. He told me no, and offered a heat pack. I then asked how much longer I had to wait since I was in so much pain and my pain pills were wearing off. He told me people usually wait two hours or more. I started to get emotional and told him I will be stepping outside for some fresh air. As I was walking near the security check, he said “ oh we got a runner” in front of everyone. He ran after me and said if I am leaving they’ll need to remove my IV. I’ve never been so humiliated. I told him while crying that I’m not leaving and just need to be outside. After waiting another hour, fresh from surgery, in pain. I went to look for a member service representative and she was nice enough to help me file a grievance report. I will never come back to this hospital specifically.

Martin Lucero I have been Dr. Dorins patient for 2 years but that ends today because of the incompetence of the front office staff... 3 months ago she told me i needed a crown. I have primary and secondary insurance and the office staff claimed that i was uninsured, claimed they fixed this, then told me again i am uninsured. Then on the phone i was told this was fixed and the crown authorization was submitted... it wasnt. Finally Dr. Dorin somewhat straightened it out but they never call me back, never return calls, never answer their phones... i called Delta myself today, the claim was denied because they didnt submit the dentists name, license number and delta dental ID. Im done. 3 months waiting on front office staffs incompetence is long enough. If you have medi- call, youre probably ok, but private insurance? Id go elsewhere.

John S. This organization has the worst follow-up and referral process Ive ever had to be a part of in 40 years. Lack of care and concern. They expect you to call them to schedule everything, after your appointment. And if you have a referral to another physician, one will never see that referral unless you call them 20 times to get ahold of the referral dept. They dont email, or call you EVER! Alexandria D I recently moved to SD and needed a medical provider to maintain prescriptions & establish care with. This clinic got me in in under 2 weeks and they were very understanding and accommodating. Dr. Hacholski was beyond fantastic. He provided me what I believe was the most thorough and comprehensive doctor appt I’ve ever had. I felt like he asked lots of questions, listened to all of my concerns and made sure I felt heard. He addressed a lot of issues I’ve had going on for quite some time but that have just gone somewhat ignored until now. I came in for some refills & a basic physical and left with reassurance and confidence knowing my health is in good hands. Everyone from the front desk secretary, the MA, and the doctor were all very kind. I have literally never left a review for my healthcare before, but acknowledging their excellence felt necessary!

Grant Charles “Chuck” Ive been going to this Family Health Center for over a year-and-a-half. I will go nowhere else. At times Ive have taken two buses and a trolley to get to there and did it gladly! The front office, the nurses aides, and even the blood lady are awesome here. I have never had a unreasonable wait time here. And Ive shown up more than once without an appointment. These some of the contributing reasons for my reluctance and delay in reviewing my City College Family Health Center. Why ruin a good thing by spreading the word. My only quote disappointment is that when Im having my blood drawn they dont stock the Minion Band-Aids, just Looney Toons. One must solgier on. But for me the real standout here at this Family Health Center is Physicians Assistant Scott Schellie (PA-C)!!! In my 53+ years of seeing doctors in the ER, by appointment, and on the field, he is one of the best there is! This is quite a statement even for me, but I believe that Mr. Schellie has true concern for my wellbeing. That being said, this in my opinion goes a long way with a patient when youre sick and or in pain. He has always taken the time to answer my questions and to explain anything I have a concern with and dont fully understand. Maybe not so unusual, but he does it without being condescending or starting the "your going beyond your time slot and his patience" sideways shuffle towards the door. Its that youre taking up too much of my time tension that can and does fill the air in most medical offices and hospital ERs. Thanks again Family Health Center at City College. You are the best! I can sum up San Diego Family Health Services in a word WORTHLESS and the people working there in two INCOMPETENT and RUDE. They are a waste of tax payer money and retail space.

I had an appointment at 9:30 check in time is at 9:15 I called them to tell them I would be there at 9:30 they said thats fine as long as I got there I 9:30! I get there its 9:31 and the girl at the front desk tells me they would have to see me as a walk in, so I agreed okay. Anyways I get in the room after the nurse told me I doc would be in shortly, the guy nurse comes in the room to tell me he had bad news and hes just the messenger, he told me they would not be able to attend me because I was late! What kind of circus are they running here!? Dont waste your time people! They treat you as if your health doesnt matter and waste your time!! Very UNPROFESSIONAL, I dont care if youre a low income clinic, learn to treat everybody with respect and at least act like you care!

This was my first time at Scripps La Jolla and I’ve never had such a great experience during childbirth like I did this time. From the moment I checked into L&D the nurses immediately took care of me. My midwife on call for my doctor both were absolutely incredible. I love that they asked what I wanted and also provided me guidance and options during my entire labor experience. My nurses during childbirth and postpartum care were very supportive. I was well taken care of during my stay here. I appreciate the nurses because you can tell this wasn’t just a job for them but something they are passionate about doing and absolutely love. If you haven’t had your baby here and you’ve been wondering about your experience here I’d highly recommend it. Thank you L&D plus postpartum nurses and doctors for taking care great care of me, the parents, and baby!

Elk Hunter The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly My wife had surgery for a pacemaker replacement on February 6. GOOD: The medical staff-Dr Rogers, Dr Martin, nurse Natalia, etc were beyond GOOD-they were exceptional. BAD: We left about 6:30 PM. Very poor, if any, lighting between the hospital and the parking garage. Walking paths were not illuminated at all. Car lanes were barely lit at all. UGLY: I had knee replacement surgery last year and walk/hobble with a cane. At Noon there was a golf cart person in the parking garage to give me a ride back to the hospital entrance. At night nobody was available. When I inquired of personnel, I was told nothing available and they made no effort to help me. I had to hobble the whole way to the garage-no lighting. Almost got hit by a car twice. This is a very bad situation for everyone. Today my knees are so stiff and sore that I can hardly move Cheers, Walt Bratten

Britt Thomas I gave birth for the 2nd time here at the end of Jan, and chose this hospital because I had such a great experience with my daughters birth here a couple years ago. Once again I felt safe and supported during labor & delivery and during my recovery. The nursing staff here is incredible! I want to acknowledge and give a special thanks to Jina in L&D for her kindness and help (she delayed her lunch break just to stay with us until the baby was born). And a thank you to Rusty, Lizzie and Cheyenne in the mothers recovery department for all of their help during such a vulnerable time in my life. I highly recommend this hospital for any type of patient care.

Alexander Nelson I have been here for 3 ½ hours. 1 hour in the waiting room and 2 ½ hours in a "room". Your level of care and importance will depend on how good your insurance is. I have been sitting in the room with pain that is on a level of 8 out of 10. No doctor has come in. The nurse has not come by in over an hour and even registration hasnt come in. I hear the staff talking about relationships and restaurants behind the curtains. I used to have high regard for this hospital, but that was 12 years ago. After being here for a long time and sitting in pain, and reading the reviews, I see the negative reviews are true. Some of the "positive" reviews are bizarre, with one reviews discussing the food and old TV shows. I definitely would recommend Sharp Hospital over Scripps. Some of the hospital staff act like children in high school. You can see it by watching them as you sit in the waiting room. Listening to the nurses talk to patients family members, I can hear that the nurses and doctors dont know what they are doing. One nurse admitted they didnt didnt do any blood tests for a patient with edema. Now registration comes almost 3 hours later. I decline and then my nurse comes in saying sorry, that theyre inundated with flu patients. Really? Flu vs 8/10 pain from my back to my feet. They know they are bad. They just dont care.

Stacey Thompson Their billing department is horrible. I have been calling about a bill for over a month and got permission over the phone twice to discuss a patients bill. They are now asking me to provide written verification and keep charging twice the amount of what the bill should be. I understand by law they have to have permission but I have already been given permission. I was also on hold for over 45 mins just to have someone tell me they couldnt help me and then they wouldnt let me talk to a manager. There customer insurance needs major improvement and their billing department needs to be better trained. So frustrating.

Michael Aviles UCSD Health is absolutely terrible. Lets see. To keep the review short, Ill limit my bad experiences to 3 areas. 1) If you need medical care in any kind of hurry, good luck. From primary care, to travel clinics, to even specialist visits, the wait times are literally months to half a year. Absolutely ridiculous. 2) It definitely feels like a training/learning environment. I had to get a biopsy done and it took two young PAs over an hour to get a non-optimal sample. The procedure should have taken 15 minutes. But instead I got 20+ tiny holes stabbed into my bones on both sides of my body (was only supposed to be one side) because they have incompetent kids straight out of school practicing on patients. Sucks. 3) Trying to get a hold of someone is a nightmare. Generally the messaging is ok, but trying to call in requires so many transfers and runarounds that a lot of the time I just give up. When I switched from Kaiser, I thought I was upgrading to a more premium provider. Boy was I wrong. Next open enrollment Im sprinting back to Kaiser. UCSD is the worst. Avoid if you can!

Joseph Eshenroder This hospital system is the worst in San Diego. Post-covid, they REFUSE to do anything without a telehealth appointment first, which in many cases they are only doing to have an excuse to charge your insurance for an additional visit. In many situations, they give you all the requirements to do your in-person visit, then call you 3 days before the appointment to tell you theyre converting Is your appointment to a telehealth and that if you still want an in person appointment you have to wait an additional month.
