5 /5 Piyush Desai: I just got my large (8 cm W x 18 cm L) incisional hernia repaired robotically by Dr Liu and now in my 3rd week of pretty smooth recovery. The outcome far exceeded all my expectations, especially given my age (66 Years) with long-standing Diabetes. Despite nearly 4 hour long surgery and a 24 cm x 30 cm abdominal mesh for closing my hernia defect by Dr Liu at Alta Bates hospital in Oakland, I was able to come home on the same day, off of all my pain medications by 4th day after surgery, and able to walk well over a mile by end of first week! During my pre-surgery consultations with Dr Liu, he was very patient and courteous to listen to and address all my concerns. He was also very candid at the same time about some of the risks and contingencies involved, but exuded lot of confidence in his ability to avoid or minimize them with his surgical experience and technique. This was crucial for me to feel confident to choose Dr Liu and opt for the robotic procedure over other reputed surgeons in Bay Area. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Dr Liu for anyone needing or exploring complex hernia repair or any other complex abdominal surgery with a robotic procedure. 5 /5 Bradly DArpino: Dr. Liu repaired a previously botched hernia surgery along with a newly formed hernia. The old surgery was performed about 10 years earlier. I had no idea this belly deformity this previous surgery left me with could be rectified. I thought I was going to live with this strange bulgy belly at the waist line. Dr. Liu fixed the the old surgery and then took care of the new upper hernia simultaneously. My abdominal profile looks and feels like my old self that I thought I would never see again. I am more than 100% satisfied with my outcome with the surgery Dr. Liu has performed. He is not only a brilliant surgeon but a wonderful person as well.

5 /5 Michael Feeley: In the past year, I have had two surgeries performed by Dr. Liu. The first was to repair an inguinal hernia, the second was to repair a paraesophageal (hiatal) hernia. Such a fantastic surgeon. These were two very different surgeries with one being much longer and more complicated. Starting with my initial consultation, he explained everything about the surgeries, the possible complications and the possible risks. He made it easy to make an informed decision about having the surgeries. Its also important to note that his office assistants (both administrative and medical) were outstanding and demonstrated the same care and attention as Dr. Liu.
