5 /5 Bill Lewis: I took my 2016 Tiguan here because it was running rough and the EPC light had come on. The codes that came on initially indicated that it was an issue with the timing chain. If this had been the case the cost of the repair would have been more than the car is worth at this point.
They could have pulled the engine partially apart to check the chain but this would be hours of work just to see if it was, in fact, the chain and might have cost me a few hundred dollars just to find out that the major repair wasnt worth it. I have known mechanics that would have pushed for this work to ensure that they made at least a little knowing that there was good chance I wouldnt be able to do the larger job that needed done.
Matt, on the other hand, was knowledgeable and honest enough to recommend a much simpler potential issue that could be checked on faster (and therefore for cheaper) and, if it was the issue repaired far cheaper as well.
The issue did end up being the simpler fix and they had it done for me early the next day. The car is running great now. I highly appreciate the great work done and especially Matt using his expertise to look beyond the codes.
A couple of quick things to note:
1) I called and spoke with Mike - who was also very helpful - and was able to bring my car in right away for diagnoses.
2) The initial diagnoses was free - the cost I refer to above is for additional work that needed to be done to confirm and that could have potentially taken hours so, obviously, had additional cost.
3) They use the same parts that the dealer would use, but without the insane markup.
These guys have earned my business for as long as I have a VW and I highly recommend them.
