Bird Rock Vista Point

Prosun Roy One of the better known and sought after Vista Points on the 17 Miles Drive. Ample Parking, good Restrooms available. Nice Pathway with benches at regular interval. Best part is the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and mini rocky island, not far off the coast, teaming with Birds (mostly Brown Pelicans, Brandts Cormorants, Western Gulls), Harbor seals and California sea lions.

San Carlos Cathedral

Courtney Walsh Such a beautiful historic church. The grotto and surrounding prayer gardens were so awesome. We were able to enter for a daily rosary. Highly recommend this outing if youre visiting.

Custom House Museum

Steven Cheng We been to Monterey old fisherman wharf many times and this is the first time that we stepped into this small but interesting custom house museum! The museum staff (a lady) was super nice and friendly, her knowledge of this museum was amazing. The short conversation that I had with her was very educational and enjoyable! I highly recommend you to come visit this free admission place!

Californias First Theatre

Mg 0 If only for its historic implications and significance, this adorable structure is worth viewing. You can look in through the windows and see the replica of a theatre bar and seating, and look at the outside and in the back garden, and get an idea of the size of the area’s population 150 years ago. I wonder what plays they performed !

Pacific Grove Butterfly House

B Matt In a town of butterflies, the Butterfly House is really the cherry atop of the sundae. There are so many little details to take in, it’s definitely worth visiting when you’re in town. Though this is a private residence, so you should certainly be respectful of the occupants and their neighbors.

Old Monterey Jail

Elisa Corrales I highly recommend visiting the Old Monterey Jail Museum. It’s free to the public and packed with real artifacts and captivating stories. The preserved cells give you a raw glimpse into local history, and the exhibits are surprisingly detailed for such a small space. I discovered the museum after taking a ghost tour and was fascinated by the behind-the-scenes stories tied to the jail’s past. Definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area!

Monarch Butterfly

B Matt In a town famous for its butterflies, it makes sense that they’d have a statue of one. This was a pretty nice tribute to the local bug.

Seals & sea lions

Radka Prokopova I could sit here for hours and hours — such a beautiful place. Paid parking is available right by the beach, and there’s a freely accessible restroom.
