El Estero Park

Samson O Beautiful park, distinct for its size and amount of attractions. This is a peaceful corner of the state and this is the best public park. The playground is sprawling and well-designed. Can get crowded at times.

Lower Presidio Historic Park

- This is a hidden gem in Monterey: free and uncrowded picnic spot. The short paved Harbor Trail has nice views of the bay and harbor area along with interesting historical placards (DYK, Argentina "conquered" Monterey for all of six days?), along with benches and tables for a quiet picnic. You can also walk up to the Sloat monument for even better views. This is a public area of the Presidio so there is no gate guard to contend with; parking is free and plentiful. If you hate crowds and like off-the-beaten path sites, this would be on my "must see" list along with San Carlos cathedral.

Felicia Asuncion Starting the 17-mile drive tour here was the best decision. With breathtaking scenery and lots of chances for great pictures.

Californias First Theatre

Mg 0 If only for its historic implications and significance, this adorable structure is worth viewing. You can look in through the windows and see the replica of a theatre bar and seating, and look at the outside and in the back garden, and get an idea of the size of the area’s population 150 years ago. I wonder what plays they performed !

Casa Soberanes

Gina Hinds, Realtor There is no better place for a relaxing picnic after you’ve ordered your sandwich from Troias across the street. Enjoy a leisure walk in the front with its beautiful gardens!

Asilomar State Beach

Jin Huh This is my favorite beach in Pacific grove and Monterey. It is so beautiful and peaceful. I love walking the little coast trail with my dog in the morning. You can sometimes see otters swimming around if you get lucky.

Cypress Grove

A R Cypress Grove is one of the most beautiful hikes that I have ever stepped foot on. The hike is a short loop and gives some of the most memorable views of the Pacific Ocean and coastline that you will ever see! Make sure to bring a great camera.

Carmel Walks

Erica Best tour we had for a while! Loved it so much! I think you shall start your trip with this walk if possible. We were feeling sad on our tour of the town this morning seeing all the national chained brand stores everywhere and very few local stores on ocean avenue. However, my view has changed after this tour - the rich history and culture stories brought all the charms of the town together. Our tour guide Gael was amazing - funny and knowledgeable! She’s a true local and knows the town throughout. Highly recommend!
