5 /5 Ganesh Gajavelli: The folks working here are honest and skilled - they work extremely quickly, maintain a high bar for their work, and are communicative/flexible with owners.
My car (2012 Honda) was giving me a lot of trouble shifting, and after lots of my own DIY root-causing and attempts at things like bleeding the air out of the clutch slave cylinder in my apartment garage, the vehicle was driveable, but not fixed as far as a long-term solution.
I took it to T-21 based a recommendation from a shop Id gone to previously (Pats Garage), and at first, T-21 gave me a quote for a full clutch replacement as per the previous shops suggestion. The sticker shock from the price motivated me to ask them to first try and bleed the clutch for me a little more effectively than Id been able to manage by myself, and upon trying this, they noticed that the slave cylinder was not behaving correctly. After giving me a day to think about it, I asked them to replace the slave cylinder. Lo and behold the cars much more driveable now.
When living in SF and renting, it can be hard to work on your car (between restrictive landlords and a lack of rentable garage space for short-term use), but places like T-21 help bridge the gap between DIY and going to a dealership where more is replaced than less at insane prices. The folks here have the space, tools, and expertise that I dont, so the price was higher than DIY, but its a business at the end of the day.
Joe there was very kind, responsive via text, and even was patient enough to let me practice my Spanish with him.
Id definitely check them out - auto repair is usually any two of cheap, good, or fast - T-21 manage to hit all 3 of them better than any other shop Ive seen yet.
