Ciara Meyer The amazing girls at salty roots did me, my mom and my bridesmaid’s hair and makeup for my wedding day. I can’t say enough about how amazing these girls were. They made me feel like a true princess. They listened to what I wanted and took the photos I provided them into account when doing my hair and makeup and it came out better than I could imagine! They are so sweet and kind. They made me feel at home right away. They gave us beverages and played my favorite music as we were getting ready. They closed off the whole Solon just for me and my bridal party as we got ready. The environment was beautiful and light, and made a perfect setting for photos to be taken before the ceremony. I can’t recommend these girls enough! My wedding day was absolutely perfect and I have salty roots, along with the Perry to thank for that.

Emily Shipman Salty Roots is by far my favorite salon I’ve ever been to. When I moved back to Key West almost 7 years ago, I used to still go to my hair stylist in San Diego because I’ve always been very picky on who cuts my hair, then I met Tori. Ever since she’s started cutting my hair, I won’t go to anyone else. Her care for her clients is unlike any other stylist I’ve been to, she has the biggest heart, and most beautiful salon space overlooking the water. All of the stylists that work at Salty Roots are so kind, Key West is lucky to have these ladies!

Kelly Orbin Litchfield’s Hair Salon in Key West is by far the best hair salon I have ever gone to! Dan, the owner of salon is a gift to his profession! He is incredibly talented! Julia Mitsoglou First, the salon is so welcoming and second, they slay. She’s the best I’ve ever been to. I went to see Carrie 3 years ago for the first time to get my extensions moved up and she transformed my hair. Like I said, I had extensions before but they were no where near as good as hers. Ronda Shamansky Lisa Stewart is a phenomenal hair colorist with a sweet personality and a touch so relaxing i nearly fall asleep in her chair every time. The photo is from a recent color service in which I requested chunky highlights in “slices.” Lisa chose the perfect colors based on my description and what she knew would work with the red undertones in my hair. She is also super talented with a smoothing treatment offered by the salon that takes the frizz out of my hair and leaves it soft and silky even in key west humidity. I was nervous when I moved here and had to find a new hairdresser, but it was a stroke of luck to find her.

Liv Quinn Lisa Stewart did my cut and color and she did a fantastic job! She was very kind and personable and worked with me closely to give me exactly the sort of wolf-cut I wanted. I love jet black hair and she did a great job getting it consistently pitch dark. I was referred to her by a friend who she also did a great job with, as well as my gf’s hair. The place is very nice I would highly recommend Amri, and especially Lisa!!

Christe Mihok I’ve come back to Key West after living away for years I grew up here, but after many years had no idea who to get high quality foils and a cut/blow dry. In typical Conch style I asked a class mate and she lmk Missy/Melissa White a former classmate of ours also relocated back was At Blown away salon. I was able to get in the following week she’s pretty booked I took that as a good sign. The highlights are natural but defined, the tone is perfect and her cut was on point. I’ve been blessed twice on referrals in this town thankfully. Good people are Hard to find so if you’re searching you can be confident booking here. The entire place was professional and nicely appointed and easy to access in town as well.

abutterson Very sad to be posting this as I can honestly say I never have such horrific experiences as I did in this salon today. I was highly recommended by a local friend to this salon and I called and made an appointment no problem. I came in and was greeted by Laura who coincidentally was the person doing my hair. I sit down and the normal - how’s your hair convo starts and I explain about my hair being thin and falling out but I would love to cut all the split ends and do a blow out maybe even a hair treatment if she could recommended one. Immediately her demeanor changed to very unpleasant. She went into “don’t tell me what your hair type is or how to do my job” mode and I am still very confused as to how the conversation got there. We were about to start and I kindly said “whatever you recommend thank you hun” she immediately told me not to call her hun and she’s not okay with my communication skills” At this point I’m already uncomfortable and very confused as to how a first time customer (who was very excited about her appointment) is now sitting in a chair being talked down to like a child who’s done something wrong when I was just thanking her for her service. I got up in a rush - apologized for the miscommunication (still don’t understand where it came from) and left in a rush as I was not comfortable being in that establishment anymore. Even more so upsetting that there went at least two other employees working who witness this and no one kindly chimed in to help. I left in such a rush I forgot my purse I was so upset and had to go back for it. Upon going back for my purse that’s when Laura decided was the right time to I guess “try” and make things right - I got a “you could tell this was forced” apology. Got my purse and left. I’m currently back with the local who recommend this place. Honestly upset, hurt and disappointed with how this interaction went.

KitKat B I have been to 6 different salons trying to get a cut and color that I had before. I always brought a picture of me with the cut so they can see what it looks like. It is a very easy face frame cut, but for some reason, none of the salons I have been to cut it that way until CocoPlum Island Salon. I was so impressed with Courtney! She listened, asked a lot of questions, and then cut my hair exactly the way the picture showed. The highlights she put in were fabulous! Cant say enough good things about this salon and Courtney. Tealah Lovett Courtney was really awesome. Quick to text me back and get me in for the short week I was in town. I have pretty long thick grown out colored hair (dark)with red pigmentation and I wanted to make a change and go lighter. Courtney didnt set my expectations to being unrealistic in what can be accomplished in one setting yet she kept it real and told me what would likely be outcome and it would be beautiful and each time I go in to salon in future it will slowly get to a Blonde color. Not once did I feel Courtney couldnt handle my request. She went back mixed up some bowls and got started. She listened to me babble on about my kids/family for the next couple hours and was so sweet just chatting. Ive been in salon chairs and tried making convo (Im a talker)with other stylists and its so cold conversation with no reaction/responses so when you go into a place like here youll feel comfortable to chat if wanted or just listen to her awesome Playlist. I was told most clientele are locals and regulars but I want to speak to traveling visitors and locals in saying you should give Courtney a try and trust her with your hair. It can be scary going to new stylist as I know I travel all year around the United States but Courtney never gave me vibes to be scared because shes confident and delivered great results. Will be back, probably in a year

Moral Marlee Low quality, high priced and thievery.all of these stylists wear fake pre-colored hair. Had my hair highlighted 3 times. I almost didn’t go back after the first appointment. Upon leaving the first appointment, I remembered that I left my sunglasses behind In a specific cubby behind the mirror. I called the salon and told the stylist this but was told numerous times my sunglasses were nowhere to be found. I knew I left them and my gut feeling was telling me my sunglasses were stolen by the stylist, But I didn’t want to assume. Upon showing up for my second appointment, I was telling one of the other Hair Stylists at the desk about my sunglasses and how it was very hard to find a pair on eBay because they do not make them anymore. Then the Stylist that had been working with me Confessed to taking my sunglasses home and made up a story about how she thought they belonged to another client who left on a cruise ship. I don’t know why she would have took them home. Usually places have a lost and found bin. Why didn’t she call the client that left on a cruise ship? when I got them back there was makeup on them that I do not wear, and they were in a new case. I let all that go and had her do my hair again! I was paying close to or over $1000 each time for a full highlight and cut. These pics are from the last long appointment. The color is always off, the cut was horrible. This was it! It doesn’t even look good blowdried. To make matters worse, I called to tell the salon I’d like to make an appointment to get my hair highlighted more and that my haircut was not seeming right as well. They said my stylist was no longer working there. So I made an appointment with the other stylist (Lydia) for another haircut. I was late for my appointment(my fault!) so we didn’t have as much time and I told her I will leave with my hair wet to save time. She cut my bangs a bit and said the back of my hair was cut uneven to which she said she fixed. I also Told her to put a few long layers in. I did pay around $70 + a 15$ tip for that second fix it haircut. Now my hair cut is uneven and just not right according to my new cosmologist thats fixing it. I notice the layers Lydia cut are very disconnected. Before and after coming soon. I talked to the manager/owner and she didn’t even want to look at my hair. I’ve worked in salons my whole life, this is just the type of place that will not make right what their employees do wrong. I never asked for money in fact I’ve been so nice and offered to pay for my hair to be fixed by the owner or another stylist. Update : I found someone named Lily in Marathon. She does a wonderful job and fixed my hair in one visit. It doesn’t take her 10 hours to attempt at highlighting my full head. I usually pay around $500 and I’ve been to her three times so far. I’ve included a before and after photo of my hair. Also id like to reply to the owner. Your employee did in fact, take my sunglasses home for over a month and wore them. She out of fear gave them back to me. It was easy to see. Why would you take a lost and found item home? Think about it. You just made yourself look horrible by trying to stick up for her wrongdoing. Also talking about me talking about being vegan and all these other things is really shameful of you. I know I said nothing wrong. You must have something against vegans maybe? Ir people proudly being who they are. I encourage you to be real instead of fake and let people know if their conversations are making you feel uncomfortable at least before bringing it up when you’re upset while discussing something unrelate. It’s important to be upfront and honest, not fake. also, did you see the photos of my hair? Do you think I ever wanted to sit in the salon for 10 hours? That’s what your stylist wanted to do. I was the one who offered for her to do the bottom half one day in the top half the other. You are just being dishonest. And yes, I was talking about child abuse. It’s a very important topic… I don’t see the issue. But while we are here feeding your baby processed junk is abusive/ignorant.

Cathy Markland Hot Cuts has moved to K&C Stylists 1509 Josephine St. I called and was set for an appointment in less then a week. Belinda was my stylist and dud an excellent job. My hair was damaged by the sun and she gave me a complimentary treatment to restore my hair to a beautiful condition, soft and full. The haircut and blow dry was beyond any expectations. Belinda is an outstanding and professional cosmetologist. The salon is clean and free of harsh product odors. Beautifully decorated and spacious. I highly recommend Belinda and this salon.

Doug Branan We had been looking to get our haircut before we left Ohio and were unable to find a place that was open and didnt take appointments. We were greeted by Frank and he was very friendly and was happy to help us. We actually enjoyed our visit and we both got our hair cut and stlyed. He did a wondrful job and ot was a pleasure.

Monica Kruczaj My sister in-law and I came in to the shop like 30-35 minutes before they closed. Unlike some places the employees give you the stink eye if you show up so close to closing time. Belinda greeted us in such a pleasant way. She was happy to actually see us. Both. Myself and my sister in-law have short hair. I prefer to hair my hair cut with a razor. There arent to many places that cut with a razor or are skilled. Especially, because I have short thin hair if cut by someone who doesnt know what they are doing a razor cut can make me look balding. She did a fantastic job on both myself and my sister in-law. We were so pleased. I will recommended her to all my friends and family. Belinda was a pure delight.

Inna did my makeup trial and Julia did my hair trial, and they made me look the most beautiful I’d ever felt … until they outdid themselves on my wedding day six months later! My mom, aunt, sister, and I were all looking for a natural makeup look and Inna and Nicole NAILED it. My mom and I had never worn false eyelashes before, but Inna applied them so gently that we didn’t even notice! As a very pale person, I appreciated that Inna used SPF on me so I did not get a sunburn. All of our makeup survived several rounds of crying and looked amazing in pictures. For hair, Julia was able to give my aunt with short hair an updo. Julia also worked magic on my frizzy hair which stayed completely sleek and smooth the whole day. Even with my husband and I doing our first look offsite at Fort Zach, an outdoor ceremony, and several hours of dancing, not one hair was out of place. They made the entire morning completely calm with their kind and laidback energy. lisa krauss I am so happy that I found this salon! Really a great atmosphere. It is clean, and has a casual freindly vibe. Madi did a great job on my roots, and my hair cut is absolutely fantastic! She can cut all hair types, but is also specially trained for curly hair. I highly recommend her!

Laura Steed Lorino My niece and I visited this salon while on vacation. We both wanted to donate our hair but we live 10 hours apart. Therefore, our fam vacation was the only option of chopping our hair off together. Randall was amazing. He fit us into his schedule this holiday week. Hands down, this is the best haircut I’ve ever had. Great shampoo massage and perfectly shaped haircut. I wish I lived closer because I’d go back every time for a trim.
