Jeremy Rasler Let me start by saying as an ER nurse myself with 22 years experience, for a small community Critical Access Hospital this facility is Amazing! Both ER nurses Monica RN (Charge) & Star LPN were top notch clinicians both of whom deserve Daisy Awards for outstanding patient care and going above and beyond to make sure I was stabilized until they could get me transferred to another facility for higher level of care! The physician was also wonderful but unfortunately I do not remember his name. Moreover should you need true emergency care this community hospital it on top of patient care and assessment. The emergency department staff truly know now to stabilize and get you the care you need. Because of my illness I was transferred to another facility via Ambulance which also went very smoothly and EMS also did their best to try and keep me as comfortable as possible. THANK YOU AGAIN, Monica RN & Star LPN (ER Nursing Team) Jeremy Rasler

Jessie Johnston Can I rate half a star.... these are by far the most rude set of staff members Ive EVER met in Healthcare..... multiple level spine surgery and im getting lashed out at for asking for a cool wet wash cloth as well as I was told my "friend" can help sit me up in the bed (my 18 yr old son).. He would have however when my neck went roll we decided to ask these people. No compassion nor empathy.... I put my own neck brace on after surgery because the cna literally giggled claiming she didnt know how...

Lisa B WorkAtHome Took my husband to the ER on a Sunday. His complaint was excruciating pain in left testicle, lower abdominal pain and vomiting. On in-take, they never checked his temperature nor did they take a urine sample. They did not have a radiologist on-call so could not check for obstructions or a torsion. He was sent home with a script for a mild antibiotic and a painkiller with the caveat that if he didnt feel better he could come back on Monday or go to another facility. Considering the symptoms, a urine test is basic protocol. Had it been a torsion, that would have needed to been address immediately. Ended up going to Jackson Hospital and was properly diagnosed and treated.

Frankie Locke I have been in the hospital twice and I have been very satisfied with the care I received. I most definitely would recommend to my family members. My Doctor was very through, and took time to listen to my questions, without me feeling as though I was being rushed.

Brenda I just spent 6 weeks in the hospital and rehab. When I came home I needed many things. Including home health. It seemed like I waa calling the office daily. Even though I had not yet been seen for a follow-up, they made sure every order I told them I needed was seen to quickly. I was never spoke to rudely, or even annoyingly. I am so impressed with the entire staff. Thank you for seeing to my needs so quickly. Also, my home health nurse said she was very impressed at how quickly they signed the order.

Gould Angela “Miss Priss” As a current patient I have nothing but praise for the staff Ive encountered over the last year of my healthcare. The nurse and reception staff are all very accommodating and friendly. My N.P. is amazing though! I was worried when I moved here about finding a new physician but the wonderful staff here has made me feel so well cared for. Im extremely grateful to Ms Kristi and all that she does for me.

Kelly Brenner I love Dr P. But I’m in total confusion over the fact that my primary care Dr is leaving me to suffer in pain over a piece of paper. I’m waiting on a total hip replacement and have done all of my pre op and just waiting for him to sign off so I can get it done. They gave me an appointment for January !!! WTH? I explained that I can no longer walk without assistance of a walker or cane and my pain level is now a 10 so they gave me an appointment with the PA a month out! I can’t walk I’m at a pain level of 10…. What is going on? I just need a signed off . They have all my records of my tests etc. they are NOT performing he surgery for Gods sake! I totally understand now why people get addicted to pain meds. This is the craziest thing I have ever experienced. They ( meaning Dr. P and nurses) the office staff is a whole other story. They make sure you know they don’t care! I’m just in shock of being left in so much pain by my primary care….im totally bewildered at the lack of care this time. In an emergency I know now that I cannot count on them to help me through it. So saddened by the lack of care or concern.

Amber Taylor Unruh I called today to make an appointment and spoke with Laura in scheduling. She was so incredibly kind & helpful. She took extra time with me to make sure I can get seen as soon as possible.

Danny Cortez Im honestly not sure how this place is still operating after how shady their billing is. Id rather drive back down to South Florida while dying before I step foot into this facility again. I was charged over $1000 for a x-ray & sitting in a room for 3 hours; and thats with health insurance. May want to check out another local facility if you need help because this hospital will literally rob you. Should be illegal what they did. Update: As you see, they responded acting like they want to help, but the phone number is a generic office line. Tallahassee Memorial on 79 almost finished with construction. Cant wait to see this Ascension office close.

Lynn Benton Terrible, condescending, arrogant doctor. Very interested in collecting your co-pay...sending you for test...after test....after test...and never offer results or treatments. In fact today he didnt have results from blood work completed months ago, readily available & said he has incompetent staff but would get my results ASAP. Currently looking for a new doctor. Wish I had read all the reviews prior to my first appointment.

Cindi Grimes I have found Dr McKenzie to be very knowledgeable, thorough and open to answering multiple questions. I feel fortunate to have had him referred to me by my GP, whom I greatly respect.

Brian Hill Had known pulmonary condition. Referred by Primary Care Dr. for update. First visit, Dr McKenzie was arrogant with little interest. I was given a laundry lists of tests to get and meeting was over. Office required pay in advance. Tests completed in 48 hrs however follow up was not scheduled until 5 wks later. Finally came in for follow up and immediately told he was referring me to UAB for further assessment. Dr McKenzie appeared to be in a hurry and offered no discussion. No review of test results, no assessment, nothing. When questioned, Dr Mckenzie became defensive and condescending. I asked for copies of test results for second opinion and he became more defensive. Finally asked straight question , is my condition progressive. His response was a defiant-Yes and said I had 2 years to live with my condition. Wow! If you need a CPAP machine, hes your guy. If you need a Specialist, go elsewhere. Total Clown Show! Only staff member worth anything was an Army Vet that handled check out. Primary Care Dr reviewed my test results and confirmed I was fine. Will be seeing a real Specialist in Pensacola for proper assessment and treatment recommendations.

Karen Carden I saw him twice, in a 12 month period. 1st visit he did a PFT, but did not go over results, talked to me for 5 minutes prescribed an inhaler medication, ordered a chest XRay. His staff said theyd call in the order for the chest XRay, and call me when appointment was made. No call. I saw him last month, wasted half my work day, for a 15 minute visit, after waiting an hour in his lobby. I think I was being punished, because I couldnt make it there 30 minutes early. One of his office people called me about 45 minutes before my appointment to say, she needed me there in about 15 minutes, because he wanted me to do another PFT! I told her I was coming from Youngstown, and couldnt make it that soon..she acted disgusted and said nevermind, and acted like it was my fault, she waited 46 minutes before my appointment time, to ask me to be there 30 minutes early! Visit was awful, he came in with some rambling rant about how hes not authorized to do disability paperwork, that had to be handled thru attorneys and the courts! I wasnt asking for disability papers, I was trying to get a remote work accomodation renewed. He refused to listen to me, blew me off, my husband tried to explain and he tried to blow him off, but my husband told him he wasnt much of a Dr and had a poor bedside manner. McKenzie got offended, said visit was over, he wasnt talking with my husband any longer! My husband left, and I stayed. McKenzie started another rambling explanation about how it he even did an accomodation paperwork, my employer would either fire me, or suspend me, or and then bring me back and make me work in their warehouse or as a janitor!! I tried to explain I worked in an office setting, no warehouse, no janitorial positions, he wasnt having any of it lmao. He ordered a sleep study, walked me out of the office. While checking out, his nurse was telling me they would schedule the titration, and when it was approved, theyd let me know, I havent heard anything from them yet. That was over a month ago. When the nurse was going over meds again, McKenzie poked his head in, said Deuces! And that he was out...very unprofessional Dr, office and staff. I will not go back! And I strongly encourage everyone to find a different pulmonologist!

Michael White This Dr does not have a bed side manner and speaks very condescending. Get irritated when you ask him questions. Had me on one CPAP that didnt work for me and then he says oh, that was the wrong kind. Finding a new doc today

Karen Robertson We had to have my Mom (90 years old) taken by ambulance due to a serious stroke. The ER staff took good care of her and us, providing as much information as they could as soon as they could. Once they were able to get her in the ICU, that staff took over and also took excellent care of all of us. We especially appreciated the communication provided by the lead Dr. in the ICU. (Im sorry I dont remember her name.) Once it became clear that my Mom would never be able to walk, eat or swallow on her own again, we asked her if she wanted to go to Hospice. (She had always made it clear that she would not want to live a life with so many limitations.) When she said yes thats what she wanted, the ICU night nurse (DJ), immediately contacted the lead doctor and they made arrangements to put her on "comfort care" until Hospice was available. During the 30? minute wait for medication change orders, we were able to tell our mother how very much we loved her and she was able to communicate the same to us. The staff was so respectful of her choice and our support of her choice. They made a very hard time as easy as possible and we are grateful for their care! My mom was able to pass comfortably in her sleep the next day. Again, the staff allowed us time to grieve in the room with her and even brought a bereavement cart with tea, coffee and cookies.

Laura Gould Sitting in the ER with Kevin who had a bad cut. Our provider Shane Becker did a fantastic job sewing him up 18 stitches later. They were fast and professional. Highly recommend. Thanks Shane!

Keegan James The Doctors, Surgeons and Nurses were EXCEPTIONAL!! However, the older gentleman that sits in the surgery waiting room was extremely disrespectful, un empathetic, and argumentative. Recovery nurse called me and let me know my brother was out of surgery and awake and that they came to the waiting room looking for me while I was in the restroom. The older gentleman at the front desk when approached stuck his hand out and said wait. Then proceeded to tell me to sit down and be patient as if I was a little kid. The nurse had to send someone to come get me out of the waiting room because the older gentleman accused me of lying to try and get into the recovery room before they were ready for me.

Jamie McDaniels To be honest, I can’t say what this place is like in person. But my dad had surgery here and I wasn’t able to be there. But the nurses and staff have been so kind to me and kept me up to date. They are patient and have answered all my questions with compassion. I’ve had to communicate with many facilities remotely through the years and trust me when I say, so many people usually act put out or like they don’t have time for concerned family. Not the folks here, at least speaking for the surgical ward staff. Thank you. It means a lot.

Jessica G Where do I even start…. Took my 1 year old in, no wait time. Was immediately brought back then IGNORED there after. (And the bed was disgusting, photos attached) After unnecessary covid/flu test, they wanted a urine test, okay. They handed me cup, A CUP? You expected a 1 year old to pee in a cup??? I brought up this concern and was told by the provider “Well we can do a catheter if you want but I would suggest you leave and check with pediatrician tommorow”…wow. So we decided to leave. 45 minutes later, waiting for discharge papers, a nurse brought a perfect toilet device but was way too late. An additional 20 minutes later, I went to the nurses station to ask about discharge papers and they were laughing and talking it up, even looked at me and completely ignored me. So I rudely yelled “don’t mind me, keep on talking!!” And we left without signing discharge papers. We spent over 4 hours there, very disappointing.

Lana Leonard When they finally put me in a room in the ER I could hear the staff talking about me. And it was all negative. These people have no right to be discussing people‘s healthcare or what goes on when they come in to that hospital. How rude and inconsiderate you need to tell them to back off because they’re gonna get sued eventually and this is bullshit on their part. I think it’s disgraceful and the people that do it should be fired. These are people’s livelihoods that they’re talking about. Put it this way your staff sure know how to make a girl feel special when she comes into the ER.

meagan poole THE WORST! took my ONE YEAR OLD in for hives on her legs covering her front and back side of her legs. we sat from 11:50PM til 1AM. at 12:40AM they seen her IN THE WAITING ROOM! they legit had us just sitting there thinking these hives were gonna go away so they could get us out faster. wrong the hives never went away and they were getting a bit bigger. he said it was nothing since it was only on her legs. never cared to run test or do anything. so unprofessional. i’ll never recommend this hospital!

Orion Brown Courtney was the absolute best. She made me feel comfortable and actually helped. She was a ray of sunshine while I was scared and in pain. Gave me recommendations on what I should do that were actually helpful. However, while in my room I could hear an older man loudly reading my chart making fun of it for the whole ER to hear. Then the worst bit of it, there was an old lady with short black hair who was absolutely horrible. I was in screaming unbearable pain from my period. I was throwing up it was so bad. My periods have always been bad but this one woke me up and was consistently a 10 on the pain scale from 3 in the morning till the moment I came in to the ER. Only after I was given medication did the pain finally subside. She had the AUDACITY to come into my room and say “You just gotta learn to deal with it, it’s part of being a woman”. I am 20 years old, I am well aware what a normal period is like. I don’t need some old lady invalidating my pain and saying that this debilitating pain is just something I need to get over when I am already feeling bad enough to be at the ER. I know my body and what is not normal for it. Someone without empathy should not be in healthcare.

TANYA ALVAREZ I would say, this will be my first time going to this emergency room. Personally took my parent with a severe pain, she got registered with the paramedics. Even explained with the RN what is going on, made the routine ct scan, and blood work. In between both took an hour each. But still yet, spent 5 hours in the emergency room and never saw the doctor. The excuse from the nurse who also was the worse nurse ever, will quote, unless you are dying will be seen. How on earth would the health professionals see an elderly in pain and not take care with love and care? Last but not least, requested the results of the procedures and denied instantly, and to also said that was only one doctor to the whole emergency room???? How on earth can only one doctor take care of the whole emergency room department??? I will not take my parent there or even Myself! I want explanation and also the results out off from Friday.

Jean Clark I have never had such poor care in all of my many stays in hospitals. The ER and extended stay ER was great, but once I was sent up to the floor of the main hospital the care was sub par. They never once brought me any way to wash up or brush my teeth in the 3 days I was there for Acute Kidney Failure. I was supposed to get up to use the restroom, but the aide didnt like having to come unhook my IV, and then come hook it back up. She yelled at me and asked why I didnt just use the bedside commode? I told her it was across the room and not set up for me. She got it and forcefully set it beside my bed. Then said, there, now use it. I also went into Afib. I called for help and no one came. I called again 15 minutes later. I was told that I would just have to wait, because they were in the middle of shift change. I had very little sleep and one morning, about 3:00am I heard 3 nurses and/or aides talking loudly. Their conversation was about how the crash carts were not equipped with the same items. That they had to run around to several crash carts to find what they needed. And yeah, hope your not overdosing on a medicine. It takes at least 15 minutes to get the norcan up from the pharmacy and by that time youre dead. Thats what I heard them talking about loudly outside of my room. When they called me a couple of weeks later, I gave the woman an ear full. I pray that they made changes. I am about to have surgery done. My doctor wanted to do it there. I told him that I would prefer to go to Bay Medical. After telling him why, he scheduled me at Bay. Bay has problems too, but after I told them, I was told that it would be reported immediately. I pray they fix their problem.
