Joe Merkt Im giving it 1 star but I prefer zero!! Worst experience Ive ever had at a hospital. Came to the ER with severe abdominal pain turns out to be a blocked kidney stone. Was told no urologist on call at that hospital and I should be transferred to Port Charlotte. Then told a half hour later a urologist will see me in the morning so Ill stay there and be admitted. Next day not one doctor came to see me even though they said the urologist was coming that day. No one came. After frustrating conversations with the nurses Im told again that the urologist will see me in the morning. So 24 hours go by and still no doctor to check on me. Day 2 morning comes and still no doctor. Then Im told she will be there at 1:00pm to assess my situation. At 1pm I received excellent care from the urologist who then removed my stone. She spoke with my wife after the procedure who then proceeded to ask the doctor why it took so long for me to get care. The doctor told her I should have NEVER been admitted there in the first place and the doctor didnt even know I was in that hospital until 24 hours after being there. No one even called her!! She also said if I was transferred the night I came to the ER like I was supposed to be I would have been cared for immediately because her associate was on call at the other hospital and would have seen me right away!! Other things were of concern while I was there as well and are in the complaint I filed with the hospital. No matter the emergency in the future myself or my wife will NEVER go to this hospital again!!

Amador Casica From the time I walked through the front doors of the hospital, I was greeted warmly and kindly. The entire process of checking in to the time I was brought back from recovery to my discharge from the hospital, I was treated as a VIP. I was so well taken care of that I highly recommend and applaud the staff at Shore Point health at Punta Gorda. Thank you Dr. S., and especially the nursing staff. Sincerely; A.T. Casica

Charles McWhirter DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL! On April 19, 2024, I walked into the Emergency Room (ER) at ShorePoint Health in Punta Gorda, FL to receive medical care. I thoroughly expressed my concerns to everyone from the desk clerk during check-in, ER nurses and Techs, and the ER doctor [Dr. Boris Reznikov] about my unintentional weight loss of 42 lbs since January 2024 and pain in the upper left portion of my back. I did not feel as if my health concerns were being taken seriously by the medical staff at ShorePoint, and I felt as if I was being profiled and just processed through their ER and sent out the door. During my visit to ShorePoint, I was given a shot of Toradol, advised to get a professional massage for my back and prescribed Ibuprofen 600mg (30 tablets). I am not a medical professional, but the unintentional weight loss should have been a huge red flag and lab work on my blood shouldve been completed.
On May 4, 2024, only 15 days after my visit to ShorePoint, I walked into the ER of Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Venice, FL because I was continuing to lose weight unintentionally and my upper back pain was still an issue. The staff at Sarasota Memorial took both urine and blood samples to submit for testing shortly after I completed the check-in process. The blood test indicated my Glucose Serum (blood sugar) was at 629 mg/dL. The ER doctor asked me if I was a diabetic or if I had ever been a diabetic, and I replied, "No." The ER doctor then explained he was concerned about my blood sugar being so high paired with my unintentional weight loss, and he ordered X-rays and a CT scan. The CT scan resulted in the discovery of a 5cm mass on my pancreas which the ER doctor had concerns of malignancy (cancer). I was admitted into the hospital at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Venice, FL due to my blood sugar levels and further testing for the mass on my pancreas. Over the next several days, I underwent an endoscopy procedure, a laparoscopic procedure, an MRI scan with contrast, and more lab work on my blood. The biopsy results from the mass on my pancreas confirmed I have Stage 4 Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma (Cancer). I was also diagnosed with Severe Malnutrition and Uncontrolled Type 2 Diabetes.
The oncology doctors informed me that if I had continued my life without discovering my cancer when I did and began treating it, the probability of me being dead in 6 months or less was very high. The oncology doctors gave praise to the Sarasota Memorial ER doctor for "putting the pieces together" and discovering my cancer. They also said the Sarasota Memorial ER doctor potentially "saved my life."
ShorePoint Healths entire staff lacks attention to detail, I received misdiagnoses from their medical staff, they neglected to accurately document my symptoms, and failed to deliver care that meets established standards. ShorePoint Health’s lack of thoroughness failed to discover my Stage 4 Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma (Cancer). No lab work was EVER completed during my visit to Shorepoint Health! Ultimately, I was medically advised to “go get a professional massage.”
I feel the level of care that I received at ShorePoint Health was substandard, and that I was profiled by medical staff. I brought these issues to the attention of ShorePoints upper management team, filed a complaint and provided them with medical documentation from Sarasota Memorial to support my complaint. While ShorePoint Health was reviewing my complaint, THEY SENT MY ENCOMPASSING MEDICAL EXPENSES (Total: $1,309.16) TO COLLECTIONS AFTER I REQUESTED AN ITEMIZED BILL.
I went to ShorePoint Health for medical help, and put my trust in ShorePoint Health, but ultimately suffered an emotional toll due to my experience. ShorePoint clearly cares more about money/profit than patient care. Luckily, I sought a second opinion and medical help from Sarasota Medical Center just two weeks after I visited ShorePoint Health. Sarasota Memorial and their entire staff was AMAZING and able to discover my Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer by providing thorough medical care while showing compassion.
