4 /5 Diahan Walker-Sealy: Your response shows why you are well liked and highly regarded by customers. Added another star just because of your response. It would have been better to tell me that you could not find the exact tire and given the choice to pay for a lower quality model which may in the end cost me more. And though I hope to not have to need your services any time soon (LOL), I will recommend your company with an asterisk if the opportunity arises.

The review reflects a mixed experience. I found Dallas Tire Pros on NextDoor.
The gentleman I spoke with the first time I went, this past Friday, was professional, kind and welcoming which belied the feeling of unwelcome I felt with so many stares from employees and customers. My smile and good morning were not reciprocated so that set a tone for me.
Three of the employees and one customer were talking and laughing - which in itself is not an issue - but it did go on for an uncomfortable amount of time while I waited to be acknowledged. Then the aforementioned gentleman with a ready smile assisted me. I showed him the Pirelli P Zero Flat Drive tire (I only just learned the model name!) that needed to be replaced. I asked to get the same tire. When he said the tire would come in the same day, I was overjoyed. The call that was supposed to come by 2p to tell me the tire arrived didnt happen. I did, however, call back to make sure that the replacement would be the same tire BUT as a person who doesnt know much about tires I may not have been clear.
Since it was Friday of a long weekend, it is only today, Tuesday, that I could reach anyone there to check the status and was relieved to hear the tire had arrived. I drove over and was met with the now expected chilly reception but was pleased to have the tire changed quickly. Then, the kind gentleman that I had originally dealt with on my first visit came out to accept payment.
I paid $520 cash (which he pocketed) and even tried to leave a gratuity (which he declined) because I was pleased with how quickly the tire was replaced.
The thing is when I went outside and saw that the tire looked different than the other three I was immediately concerned. It was a Pirelli but a Scorpion not a P Zero. I dont know much about tires so I wasnt sure if this was a comparable or better tire. I called a friend who wasnt sure either. I did a quick look on line and found that the tire was, in fact, also a flat-drive tire and so on the faith that the service provided was trustworthy, I left.
Finally just now I checked different review sites to compare the P Zero to the Scorpion and found that there is a vast difference in the two. Where the P Zero averages 4.5 out of 5 in seven categories, the Scorpion averages 3.5 with a 1.0 for Treadwear. In all categories it is inferior to the tire that was from the dealership. Oh, and I repeatedly had said that I want the replacement to be the same because of concern that not using the dealership to change the tire would affect the warranty (which Ive been told should be an unnecessary concern). Also, I did not receive a receipt. Just the Repair Order. Which is a flag given that the money was pocketed and not rung up.
So in the end I will give Dallas Tire Pros a 3 out of 5 because they are efficient. They work quickly. At least one of the employees has a welcoming demeanor. They have a lot of customer traffic and online reviews appear to show more than a few repeat customers. But I will not rate them higher because the tire replacement was not comparable. And that above all is a huge disappointment. The replacement tire is reputed to wear away much faster. And, in fact, the tire that was replaced was not worn. It had a tear. Again, giving the benefit of the doubt that there was a miscommunication and that it was not understood that I wanted the same tire. That Dallas Tire Pros does not fit the trope of mechanics taking advantage of women, yadda, yadda...
Note: I didnt call Dallas Tire to express my informed concern since its after hours but wanted to leave this review just the same.
