MacLagan Auto Center - Gurnee (IL)

5 /5 Mark Davie: While traveling from MN to IL, we hit something in the road and ruptured the gas tank in an 09 Rav4. We were towed to MacLagan Auto after hours by AAA. I was at their mercy and warned that finding a gas tank was going to be an issue and may lead to more repairs. MacLagan looked for gas tanks, including checking junk yards with no success. Nothing was available locally and we were scheduled to leave town in 2 days. Then they did research and found someone that could instead repair the tank, saving me time and considerable cost. Being from out of town and not having options they could have taken advantage of the situation. Instead they went over and above to find a solution to take care of the problem at a reasonable cost and doing it right away to keep us on schedule.

5 /5 Tim Graham: Treated me more fairly than I probably deserved. My 1998 Subaru Legacy started shaking violently driving south on US-41 at the beginning of a weekend trip to Detroit from Green Bay. I called AAA Roadside Assistance, and they towed me here. I called beforehand to make sure theyd be able to look at my car that day, and the owner was very frank with me - he couldnt promise that it would be fixed today, but hed be able to look at it. When I arrived, he was immediately able to look at my car. He did not find anything obvious so he took it for a test drive. When he returned, he informed me that the car was behaving completely normally, but he believed me about the issue and would give it a thorough check before sending me back on the road. He was able to see that another mechanic had incorrectly installed the CV axle, and that my ball joints were pretty rusty, but neither of these would have caused the problem. He fixed the CV axle (it was a quick fix), and I decided not to do the ball joints that day since I wanted to get back on the road. I was not charged at all for him to look at my car, and the owner refused my offer for a tip. He probably invested an hour and a half of his time that day looking at my car. Im not saying that you should come here expecting free service, however, I think that the owner of this shop has to be the most honest person I have ever met that works with cars. I dont expect to be in the Gurnee area again any time soon, but I would wholeheartedly recommend this shop to anybody that is.

5 /5 Dianna Komperda: Eric Paramski is not only an excellent business owner, but an all around great human being, in my opinion. He speaks with you politely and honestly, and explains his findings and recommendations to you in a thorough, concise manner that you can understand, even if you have little to no automotive knowledge. The prices at MacLagan are reasonable, and they work hard to get your auto back to you as soon as possible without sacrificing the quality of work they put into fixing it! I will continue to bring my car to MacLagan Auto for future tune ups and repairs, and I recommend Eric and his team highly to anyone that is in need of automotive services, big or small!

He tells you what work needs to be done and what you can hold off in case you need to parcel out the funds. Ive been to many mechanics in my 45 years of car ownership and he is the only one I will return to with complete confidence that my car will receive the best service!

5 /5 Singzo: Eric the owner is a standup guy. My car had broken down on the expressway and it was towed to his shop. He took a look at it and was very honest about the issues, price and wether or not I should spend the money. Not one time did I feel like he was being dishonest. He came across as very genuine and friendly. In addition to that, he did not charge me for my car to sit in his lot for nearly 2 weeks until I could get it towed. I have no idea if thats normal practice for him but because he did that for me it meant alot. His shop is a little over a half an hour away from me but after this experience, Im willing to drive the distance to have him work on any of my future car repairs.
