1 /5 Tirzah Reed: Refused to give me even a ballpark estimate or say what they would charge for a PART when I called on the phone. Said I had to bring it in in person to get any sort of estimate, that that was the company policy. Seems like a sleazy policy to get people to drive over cars that are having trouble driving, and then capitalize on the fact that they’re already there to convince them to do the work there, regardless of price. I was SO disappointed as I was hoping they’d be cheaper than City Tire, but they refused to engage with me at all. Ended up going to Chinatown Classic auto repair and it was the RIGHT CALL. Worth the distance from hyde park by such a huge margin. Wayne the owner is so knowledgeable, and the prices are unbeatable. Literally half what City Tire charges, but I have no idea how it compares to this place because… they wouldn’t tell me!
edit: yes, parts do vary in cost based on the car! which is why mechanics ask for year, make, and model when giving a parts estimate over the phone. There is no good reason to withhold that kind of information from a customer.
