John Badger I am writing this review about the University of Southern Louisiana based on my personal experience. My name is John, and I am a Human Rights Defender currently completing my criminal justice degree at Penn State University. I have also earned a four-year degree in Paralegal Studies from Auburn University. As someone who has attended prestigious and well-established institutions, I have never encountered the challenges I faced with Southern University. For over a month, I have been attempting to contact Southern University to inquire about their law programs, specifically whether they offer courses for aspiring bankruptcy attorneys. Unfortunately, my efforts have been met with consistent miscommunication and poor customer service. I have been transferred to numerous departments, taken down countless phone numbers, and yet, I still have not received clear answers. The lack of professionalism and efficiency from their operators and staff has been frustrating and disheartening. As someone who has always wanted to experience an HBCU in my home state, this has been a deeply disappointing experience. The unresponsiveness and lack of support I’ve encountered raise serious concerns about the universitys ability to serve its students effectively. If this is how they treat prospective students, I can only imagine the challenges current students may face. Given my platform as a news anchor with over 7 million followers, I feel compelled to share my experience. I often discuss educational institutions in Louisiana, and this encounter has left a lasting impression. Southern University must do better to improve communication, professionalism, and support for prospective and current students.

Justin Genuinely the worst school I have ever seen in my life. The Busars office here should be and from what I understand is being investigated by fasfa. They put fake holds on peoples accounts so they dont get their refunds and when you jump threw the hoops to fix the problem they refuse to take them off, refuse to answer the phone or do anything to remedy the situation. To the point my own financial aid counselor is unable to get a hold of them. I was due my refund in October and here we are in the middle of January with no update. I had to file a complaint with FAFSA and theyre looking into it.. if anyone is having a similar issue then I would recommend filing a formal complaint to FAFSA. This school needs to get their act together or just shut down. If you are considering this school then please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Asher Smith I’ve had a few encounters that weren’t the best at this college. Despite the long wait time in the student center today, Janai was excellent. She helped me get my classes for the summer and explained the process as well as what I needed to succeed. She was polite and answered any questions I had. I was very comfortable talking to her and I hope to experience more staff like her. Thank you, Janai.

AJ I have to drive by this “college” every morning on my way to work and the students who attend this place are some of the worst drivers I’ve ever seen. They nearly crash into me every day. Speeding, lane jockeying, you name it. Horrible. It makes sense when you see the demographic of individuals who attend classes here however so color me not surprised.

Brian I graduated from here this year my experience was okay overall. i was enrolled in the CAD drafting program, all of my teachers were very knowledgeable and helpful. everyone in my main class got jobs in our career field before we graduated but two of us, who were moving out of state after graduation. Things i didn’t like about ITI were minor. The dress code policy (no shorts & tank tops) The attendance policy is very strict for a college aimed toward working people In their 20’s (4th absent in a 3 month period of the same class you fail) I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking to get into the fields they have available

Carol Perro My experience taking the Medical Administrative Assistant course was a great experience, from classmates to the instructor. I went into this class not knowing what to expect and at times, I thought what am I doing. When you have an instructor thats passionate about what shes teaching, makes you comfortable and confident that you made the right decision you are truly favored. Chanasha Chambers Hello, my name is Chanasha Chambers. I attended Camelot College in 2024. My experience at Camelot College was amazing from the starting process to the finish point. Pastor Williams and Mr. Simon were there to help me through the entire journey. They encouraged me, and motivated me to keep going no matter how tired I was. There was a time I wanted to drop out, I stopped going to classes, but Pastor Williams stayed on me and pushed me to complete the program. He reminded me that I can do this, and I will succeed. I would also like to thank Mrs. Wheeler at EmployBR for assisting me throughout the process. She took time out to answer any questions I had and helped me to stay on top of my attendance. After finishing Camelot College, I obtained a full-time position with Mary Bird Perkins as an operator/patient access representative. Going to Camelot has made a huge impact on my life, and for that I am forever grateful.

Aerospace guy Why are there no photos? None of the library or Nicholson either. I taught math in this building from 1988-89 while earning my Masters. Had an office on the third floor. Outstanding faculty, I miss this place. My five stars are based on nostalgia; I have only visited this building once in the past 30 years and I remember being puzzled that there was no fourth floor. Early onset of Alheimers, Im guessing.

Seth Bearry My Grandmother said this building was bad when she went here. That was almost 50 years ago. I take 2 classes in there now. The restrooms are cramped and I seriously thought I was going to be murdered my first time there. It did not help that I was lost. Avoid if possible.

Elijah Smith If you get a class in the basement of locket I would suggest trying to find a different class if possible. The sound echoes and youre on top of one another and all the chairs creak. I had a teacher who would stop teaching if any noise was happening and she would just yell at us cause she thought we were all talking but in reality its like if anyone moved the sound just travel all round the classroom.

KENNETH R COCHRAN Nice building, huge, lots of space for a robotics competition. Needed more chairs to watch the competition. Panera Bread was a joke for serving food!! You had to use a computer to place your order. No problem right, they onl y had two machines that were working. Huge lines as they were out of a lot of food and etc. There is no way to order any other way.

Brandon Barron Southern University Law Center gave me an opportunity when no one else would. My LSAT score wasn’t strong, and every law school near me denied my application. But SULC saw my potential and welcomed me. I moved to Baton Rouge, and from day one, I experienced a top-tier legal education. What truly makes SULC exceptional, though, is its people. The faculty, staff, and students create an environment that is both challenging and supportive. Stephanie Craig I love evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and I praise God for the Holy work of Sbn-reaching out to everyone with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. God BLESS them all. I downloaded the free Sbn app to my smart phone, now I get to watch them while laying in bed to sleep. Its in front of me and I just watch it all night then when I get too sleepy I turn to the radio and listen. This Sbn app has kicked the devil out of my house and brought the Holy fire of God and the PEACE of God back in my house. Im so happy that Im feeling the Holy Spirit again and its exciting!!! Today is 08/22/23 and I still believe that God is using Jimmy Swaggart ministries to reach people with the gospel and encouragement, but Im a Kjv Bible reader, not a Jimmy Swaggart Bible reader.

We Are The Jones I cannot possibly explain everything that transpired in the semester my son went to JSBC. It was a life changing experience for him and the way he was treated was nothing shy of terrible. Jsm was our ministry for 20+ years. Until we were able to see the inside workings of JSBC and Crossfire. My son was harassed on a weekly basis by administration, those close to him were interrogated on a weekly basis for being his friend. If you have had similar experience seek help!!!!! God is not in those actions at all. No ninstry should ever treat fellow believers, let alone an 18 uear old the way some of the students get treated.

LuvnMyUSA I attended Delta College several years ago. My life has changed drastically. I received a great education and have grown from working in convenience stores to a full time Graphic Designer. Because I enjoy what I do so much, I never work a day. I am so thankful that we have schools like Delta. I was given a second chance and I will be forever grateful.

However, the only conflict I currently am dealing with is the financial aid office not picking up or returning phone calls and emails. Ive called, left voicemails and emailed them multipe times on different occasions and have yet to hear back. I hope this issue doesnt prevent me from attending SU in BR.

nysheik The employees are very unprofessional and lack the necessary knowledge and understanding thats needed to work in such environment. There is also no communication at all between departments which makes it very difficult to get anything accomplished. Classes are pretty affordable but the service is terrible.

Jonathan Wright These people are the absolute worst at helping you accomplish anything! I was told that I could not attend college there because I did not have the money to attend, thats fine. I understand if you dont have the money then you cant go there, thats not why they are absolutely atrocious. After that I asked them if I needed to do anything in order to not be billed or charged for the semester. They told everything was fine but I just couldnt attend that semester. Then they tried to bill me for the semester?!?!?! Really??? So not only are they completely incompetent at helping out anyone but they are liars on top of that. They refuse to answer and or return my calls concerning the matter, the only answer Ive gotten is well look into it and call you right back. The only call I get is from the attorney general say I owe money. So now Im having to get an attorney because that is completely asinine! So please do not trust these people with your education, they are a joke of a community college.

MM Kirby-Smith Hall, the abandoned looking building that looks like the old EKL Hospital, behind Cedar Hall. Dont do it! As a 1st year student, I would prefer my child stay home than here. Too bad you cant cancel your housing contract without penalties. Go Tigers!

Joanna Slaton The Pentagon dorms are old and run down, they make freshmen stay on campus with very little choice on which dorm they get and then we have to move out for the next year, yet they have no openings for the on campus apartments. We were on a waitlist which did nothing and now we are having to look for an apartment off campus, and theres no parking so if you have to drive in each day, good luck finding a spot! For as much money we pay and that LSU receives in general, you would think they would build more on campus housing and parking lots! Im really disappointed with our experience at this school...would have definitely chose another option!

Cynthia Loftin My child was told by email that he could move dorm rooms after having a nightmare roommate. He was forced to continue living with this person until housing opened a portal to change rooms. He tried talking to his RA and RC but neither wanted to help him. He went to the housing office and was told he needed to fill out a form. He filled out the forms. After he received permission to move and was told of his new room number he was relieved and excited for a fresh start. He was told he had to vacate his room first and check out of his old room before he could move to his new dorm and new roommate. He also had to argue to get a cart to help move all his belongings. After he had moved out with most of his things in a cart and the rest in his car he was taken to the new room he was assigned that he couldnt move into. The people in the new room didnt know he was coming and there was no space for him. He had to sit in the lobby for hours with all his things. The people in charge first asked if he could just move back into the room he just vacated! Then the staff asked the students on some chat for the dorm if he could stay with someone in their room. He was put in a room as a guest until Monday where he will be forced to move again! LSU talks like they have a team to take care of your child but this is all talk. The school requires our children live in the dorms their first year but in my childs case he is homeless and has to be a guest until they find him a space. It is hard to trust that my child is being cared for when his basic need of shelter is being neglected. How is he to feel he has a home there? How can he do his homework or feel safe there. I am understandably upset by this situation and I hope it has not or does not happen to others. The system in place should be changed.

Hunter Hansen Had a relative take an English class online, had As Bs on all assignments, got a lower score on the final, and failed the class. turns out the final is pass/fail for the class. So the other grades do not matter. Makes one wonder why the other assignments are graded. Also, the management for this online section was rude and hard to communcate with. Professor was slow to communicate. Online submission of assignments was glicthy. So I recommend a community college; we had better experience there.

Summer Almonte The main reason I came to this school is because I was told it was self pace. Come to find out it’s not. I always get the run around when it’s time to register for classes, nobody knows how to do anything over there. Smh

Everett Dorsey Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. The lack of communication with the staff is unbelievable. I would have full on conversations with people on the phone, then not hear back for days or weeks on tight deadlines. Was assigned a “student success” coach that knew nothing about what I was doing in school. The lack of guidance in choosing classes and time lines etc was so frustrating. I was advised to sign up for a class, I did so. Was dropped from the class because “I wasn’t supposed to be in it” (even though I was literally told to). Then after dropping I called to ask what happened. Was called back over a week later with a vague response and NOBODY TOLD ME THAT I WAS BILLED FOR THE CLASS EVEN THOUGH I WASNT EVEN ENROLLED IN IT. Then when I asked about it I was given the run around and treated as if I was the biggest idiot in the world for signing up for a class I was literally told to. How else would a new person whose never been in school just pick a random class and try to go to school? Unbelievable. Now they won’t respond to any emails I sent about the charge. Place is a joke.

Brennan Diez William Carey is a great school! The faculty and staff members are very helpful and encouraging and they always put the students first. I loved my time here as a student and I will miss it greatly.

Jacklyn Aiello For those who are not familiar with William Carey, this is a private Christian School of Nursing. They are based out of Mississippi but have a campus in Baton Rouge. In other schools in the area, the programs take two and a half years. The accelerated nursing program at William Carey can be finished in 18 months for a bachelors degree, meaning I obtain a higher education level for less time. This is by far the best school I have ever attended. The small classes (30 or so students) make the learning environment one on one. You build relationships with the students and faculty. I know that they are rooting for my success just as much as I am. I am genuinely grateful to attend here.

Ashlyn Collins I’m currently a Level III nursing student at WCU BR campus! I’m honored to be the Level III class delegate for our campus’s SNA chapter and anticipating graduation August of 2021. My time at WCU BR has been nothing if not incredible. My instructors and fellow classmates have made me feel like a member of their families. As a campus, we operate as a family, and the faculty truly want to ensure that you are given the knowledge and skills to go forth and be the best that you can be and make a difference in the care of others within communities. I absolutely love my WCU BR family and can confidently say that attending school here was the best decision I could have made for myself and my family!
