Fatimah Calder The service was great! I felt really comfortable getting my hair washed. The stylist was a great conversationalist. My only issue was the price change, I asked how much a wash and just a blow out ( no silk press) would be on the phone and was told $67 then got there and it was $88. Besides that the experience was great. If you want the basics I would advise to go somewhere a bit cheaper but if your getting an actual silk press I would advice to book since they are natural hair focused and won’t give you heat damage.

Lauren Stockmon Brown Fantastic establishment! As a tender-headed person , I decided to do traditional micro locs and I love my decision. It is an expensive decision. However, I am incredibly happy with my investment. I will never have to do blow outs / washes / dryers in the same way. The process is less exhausting and painful. As someone who has come from doing box braids for the last few years, and now is doing micro locs—- this experience has been incredible. I am working with two+ cosmetologists who are experts in their field and passionate about hair care education. I would HIGHLY recommend making the switch to micro locs and working with this staff to do so. The process is exciting and worth the investment if you’re interested in pursuing your locs journey.

Tamara Thompson My mom and I had such a wonderful experience at the Nubian Hair Studio! We started off with a consultation with Key and told her what type of style we were each looking to do. She was thorough and made sure we understood what the process involved. Key worked on both of us. My mom decided to do a new color and cut to a shorter style. I decided to get crocheted passion twist. Everyone was so friendly and very professional and the owner Alice made us feel at home. I would definitely recommend this place and if I could go beyond five stars I would! They work on all hair types especially natural, and they are skilled in different types of hair styles. Make sure you call ahead to make an appointment because they are in demand but they will try their best to work with you.

Chidi Nwosu Absolutely wonderful experience. In my whole life, I have not been to anyone better than Alicia. I havent been able to take care of my own hair for a long time due to ongoing health issues, and I went there anticipating to lose all of my hair, so I was expecting to get a big chop, but I didnt have to lose all of my hair thanks to Alicia. She gave me a detox, a protein treatment, and a hydration treatment as well. She also gave me encouragement in dealing with my health issues, and was very accommodating when I informed her of my struggles. The thing I appreciate the most is that Alicia always takes the time to show me what she is doing, what products she is using in my hair at each step, and explains why shes doing it. Even more, she gave me instructions on how to care for my hair myself at home, and optional products I can get for myself (if Id like). Shes not a product pusher, and she wants to get her clients to a point where they can do regular hair maintenance on their own. She is a masterclass in customer care, and if you really want to get your moneys worth, then visit this shop.

Ta-Tanisha Madison This is the best dominican hair salon that I have been too in years my former hairstylist retired earlier this year. So my aunt told me about Charo because she does her hair as well as my other aunt. And I must say Charo is amazing her talent for styling hair is outstanding. Uli_u Gloria has 100% helped with my hair journey. She has always been very kind and patient with me, using her knowledge and expertise to inform me of ways to keep my hair as healthy as can be. Most stylist would see a problem but not let you know until severe damage is done. However, since Glo has been doing my hair, it as improved in length and body and I owe the progress to her for sure. I highly recommend her because she truly cares about the longevity of healthy natural hair which is truly hard to find these days.

So when my teenage daughter wanted a silk press, I asked her for her stylist - and its the best decision Ive ever made. Gloria and staff are welcoming, friendly and warm. My daughter and I have had some salon nightmares, so this was a breath of fresh air. Gloria is an artist and I can tell she really cares about her clients. Christine Garcia you know. I had given this place a 5 stars but had to come back to change my review. While I love a good Dominican blow out. I just can’t seem to see any good customer service. While I been coming here for a year, I don’t understand why the owner seems to want to viciously wash my hair. Like almost banging into the sink. Like I’m not even exaggerating. My hair isn’t even nappy or nothing. The first time fine. But every time!??? I just can’t. Definitely going to another salon. Used to love it but everytime I leave, I have a dang headache. I’m good!!!!!

However please be warned they don’t care for the health of your hair they just do a good job making it look nice. So if you looking for a salon that will be careful with your hair and maintaining its health this is not the place for you. But I only go once every 3 months which is why I don’t mind.

Kay Vaz this salon is full of lies. this salon tells young cosmetology students to come get trained for two weeks with no kind of pay. this is absolutely inhumane and unacceptable for students trying to get experience. exploiting cosmology students is utterly disgusting. they lied about these students getting paid to get trained then them going back on their word. they also lie about the closing times of the salon. would not recommend to anyone looking for work or coming to get your hair done.

Alicia Riley I found this place on TikTok. Decided to give it a try because I really just needed a wash and blow out. They saw me right away. The ladies were very nice. They washed and conditioned my hair then blew it out and trimmed my very damaged ends. I was going to get my hair brushed right after so I didn’t need a full service. I think they can actually grow my hair. I’ll definitely be going back. The lady washed my hair very well. No more flakes and she left my hair and scalp feeling soooooo clean and smelling good.

My hair was smelling burnt up to a week later.. When she was all done , I ended up with pin straight and the worst flat hair I’ve ever seen .. Very disappointing and would never go there again. Blinera Roman Firstly I had been in communication with this salon via instagram dms where we confirmed I’d be coming around 9am. I was made to wait 20 mins before someone came and asked exactly what I wanted. I proceeded to show the stylist who then informed me I’d need to bleach my hair which is not true as other stylist have said different. I was trying to go for a dark burgundy color. The salon did not realise I am Albanian and proceeded to talk crap about me in Albanian saying how I should go do it elsewhere if that’s what other stylists said. Would not recommend, horrible people and don’t go if you’re not Albanian because they will talk crap about you and you won’t even know. Haydee Padilla Unprofessional and racist!! I went on a weekday to ask for price and availability. Albana told me " Saturday 2-3pm. I came at 2. They said come back at 3. I came back at 3pm (and saw newfaces!?) to be told to come back at 430pm. Where I saw even more new faces that werent there at 3 pm!!. Clearly, they were attending these ladies instead of me, and I was going to be "the last one". Then they asked me to come back at 630pm. Absolutely not maam. You lost your mind if you think Im coming back, 4 hrs after a set appt to give you my money after treating me this way? Im starting to think it was because I was Hispanic and not from their country. What a shame. Zero stars if I could. Waste of my time

She will always give you amazing suggestions based on what you are wearing and it will always turn out beautiful. I have never changed my hair-styler for all those years and never will.

Just Bloom I am beyond disappointed with my recent experience at albana salon. I went in for a blow dry before an important wedding, expecting to leave with a polished and beautiful style, wanted to treat myself so I can relax. Instead what I got was a disaster. The final result was so poorly done that I couldn’t believe it. My hair looked messy, unstyled, and far from what a professional blow dry should look like. It was so bad that I had to go home and redo my hair from scratch to make it presentable for the event. I told the stylist “this isn’t even a blowdry and she gave me attitude stating it’s what I asked” Having to spend additional time and effort fixing what I paid a professional to do was infuriating, especially on such a big day when time is precious. To make matters worse, the service was overpriced, making it all the more frustrating to leave feeling disappointed and unprepared. Beyond the poor styling, the salon’s makeup tools and brushes were dirty, raising serious hygiene concerns. They need a better team. Additionally, there were no seats for clients waiting for their appointment, making the entire environment feel unprofessional and unwelcoming. I regret choosing this salon for such an important occasion and strongly advise others to reconsider before booking here. Never again, don’t fall for the good reviews!!

Mariam Got my hair done for a wedding (an updo) and it turned out even better than the inspo pic i showed them. Got so many compliments and my hair didn’t move all night. Staff is very kind and accommodating as well!

Ariel Steele I wish I could give greater than 5 stars. Richie was recommended to me by a coworker. My 3 year old son has Autism and getting a haircut is always a struggle. From the moment we walked in Richie was patient and understanding as we worked to get my son acclimated. Once in the chair he provided knowledge regarding the clippers and used the best ones for my son’s hair texture to avoid tension and trauma. Not once did he show an frustration with my son although he fidgeted the entire cut. Everyone including other patrons were supportive and kind. I was beyond pleased with the final product and overall experience. Richie Truly is an Angel and skilled at what he does. We will certainly be back !!

Divina Milanes I needed to do my hair super last minute so I called first and a man asked the hairdresser if she had space for me that day. The guy was very nice and helpful booking my appointment. The lady I got was Antoinette. I am very picky with how people do my hair but Antoinette was very gentle and handled me with great care. I would definitely be going there again. The rest of the people who worked there were also friendly.

Tiffany Challenger If I could give zero stars I would. A woman named Sonia did my hair and rushed the entire process. She gaslighted me and made me think that the issue was my hair but it was really her carelessness. I wanted a silk press and left the salon with poofy, dry hair and she INSISTED it’s because my hair is unkempt. It’s really because she doesn’t know how to say no when she has multiple clients.

Kassandra Saavedra This place is super overpriced, for a simple wash and set on short medium length hair the price was $85. they try to give you a half assed explanation of their prices and it doesn’t even make sense. $35 for a “hair mask” that was in my hair for less than 5 minutes and not even under the dryer.. I have never paid more than $50 for a wash and set. So if you have longer hair I suggest you try some other place, because definitely expect them to charge you more.

Love Sam until he pushed me aside to take care of a male customer that he very well knew that I was next as he told me to come back in 10 minutes. No excuses. My time is as valuable as anyone else. Melly Sanchez A neighborhood salon ive been frequenting for about 6 years now. I love Carol! Carol has a huge clientele of African American sisters that have been with her for ever. She is fast, gentle, affordable, AND SHE LISTEN TO WHAT YOU WANT BUT ALSO she is very knowledgeable and will advise on the best products for your hair. She manages her time very well and dont spend half a day in there.

Hala Karaki I’ve done keratin and protein more than 6 times in my life. When I asked Lydia how much is it for keratin over the phone she said 200 when I showed up I asked again to double check before we start she said after the worker washes your hair to guarantee me doing my hair forcefully with her by manipulation, after she washed my hair she said it’s going to be 230 she said no protein is 230 keratin is 200, after my hair was soaking wet I said ok and I’ll do protein, I did protein and paid 230 after less than a week and using sulfate free shampoo that I always use after keratin or protein treatment my hair got back the way it was, frizzy and dry. When I asked her about it and that I need a solution she blamed it on the shampoo because she definitely does not want to pay back some of the amount or even to fix her mistake and apply REAL protein People I have noticed that she does not use keratin neither protein she uses hair masks and does nothing like the keratin or protein. I read many bad reviews about this salon and unfortunately i was scammed and I got robbed off by paying 230 and my hair stayed the way it is I contacted her multiple times she blamed it on the shampoo and then she started ignoring, don’t worry Lydia one day people will know what you’re doing and will stop coming and I’ll make sure to notify people about that. The salons is already slow and she’s very loud, she takes money with providing customers with false products

Fatima Mejia I’ve been coming to Lydia for 3 years now and I always love the results! The whole vibe in the salon is so refreshing and the staff is so welcoming. I always recommend Lydia to friends and family because I know they will be getting princess treatment here. I’m surprised to see any negative reviews honestly but for 1. Take into consideration the history and quality of your hair going into a salon. The stylist aren’t miracle workers and lydia is always upfront if you tell her you have processed your hair she will let you know what can be done to achieve your desired results which may require more than one session. If you get your hair colored a lot this is common knowledge. 2. She uses great products each time I go, I’ve never left the salon with damaged hair and she’s gotten me from black box dyed hair to blonde. You pay for what you get and a good stylist and colorist isn’t going to be cheap. Always ask for the price upfront if you’re on a budget because she will tell you and unless you do any add ons ( hair treatment, cut, etc etc ) your price won’t change. With that being said this is an amazing salon 10/10 definitely recommend!

Phife Sneak relaxer in the shampoo on natural hair. To be honest I should be suing this establishment. My hair smelled of burn and relaxer. My scalp itched and burned. Hair falling out in clumps. My worst nightmare. Concy did my hair and another woman with black shoulder length hair washed it. Beware of this salon. Untrustworthy.

David Lunsford- Barlow 0 STARS I highly advise to not visit the hair braiders in the back of the shop. They lied straight to my face and told me they would be able to style my locks. A day later my hair is standing on top of my head and instead of my locs being straight, they now are all puffy near the scalp. I tried going back to get a refund the following day and they couldn’t even explain to me why my hair was standing on-top of my head. They could not give me a cohesive/ clear answer and kept mentioning they could give me two stand twist …. But I have locs…. 0 stars. Only visit if you enjoy people gossiping about you while they do your hair.

Anastasia Octavia I must say that I so shocked and surprised by some of the negative reviews this place has I been going to this salon for a while now and never had an issue 1) I am Panamanian and indian I look black American and do not speak English and have no problem with communication or service 2) I never have a wait time imslways seen right away 3) I always get as wash and set that comes with a blow out at no addition cost I pay 5$ extra for a deep condition and I get pin curls 4) Mammita been doing my hair from day one and she is gentle fast and really sweet she did my big chop and my hair has grown back beautifully 5) I have natural hair and a perm was never out in my hair and heat protectant was applied every single time to every single part of my hair when getting blow dried 6) I as always pay the same price $50 for Wash deep condition blow dry and treatmentits always a pleasure getting my hair done here so Im assuming they are justvunsatisfied customers or a competition salon smh Im aware everyone experience can be different but as long as Ihave been coming here I never had a issue with pricing styling comfortability or accusations of as n unwanted perm. So I would definitely recommend Mammita does my hair and sometimes Maria washes my hair if Mammita has a client in her chair and each time my hair last longer than 2 weeks before I even go back my hair is growing beautifully thanks to Mammita

Rania First time at this salon. I had my hair and makeup done, both were very nice. I have to say I did not enjoy the blow dry as it was a little on the rough side however the manager stepped in and made me feel comfortable with the final look. The makeup artist is very talented and quick. I would visit again for makeup and try out the nail technicians services as well.Meter pay stations are available on both sides of the street for ample amount of parking.

Resilda Shahinas This is the worst salon ever. They are very unprofessional and rude. They don’t treat you well if you are not a customer and they don’t care about you. And the worst part is that they charge you a lot of money for damage hair. Be aware before you pick this salon.

Chyenne Rivera I booked an appointment at this salon and spoke with Zoye beforehand to confirm if she could achieve a wet hair and makeup look. She assured me that she could, so I decided to proceed. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of my expectations. First, the makeup application was disappointing. I showed her a picture of the look I wanted—a dewy, wet-look makeup style. Instead, she gave me a bridal look, which was completely different from what I requested. Based on my experience, this salon appears to specialize in simple or bridal makeup. If you’re looking for something creative or highly specific, this may not be the right place. Additionally, I requested brighter lighting during the session, but she declined, claiming it would make the makeup look worse. As a brown-skinned person, I found the final result unflattering, giving me a casket-like appearance. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this salon to other people of color based on my experience. The hair styling was equally underwhelming. I was expecting a proper wet hair look, but they didn’t even wash my hair before styling. Instead, they applied a large amount of Got2b spray to my dirty, dry hair without properly combing or prepping it. Despite having wash stations available, they did not use them, and their policies did not indicate that I needed to arrive with clean, pre-washed hair. When I attempted to express my concerns during the appointment, my feedback was dismissed. They repeatedly told me, “You look nice,” and implied that I was simply complaining. Overall, I felt unheard and disappointed by the lack of professionalism and attention to detail. If you’re seeking basic or bridal styles, this salon might be suitable. However, for more creative or personalized services, I recommend going elsewhere—or even doing it yourself. To people of color, I’d advise avoiding this salon altogether.

Trisha Mahase I have to say this place is very clean and the ladies that work there are very nice. My friend and I went to do our balayage the same day. They did a great job. They also move quick and dont just have you sitting there for long. I have curly black hair and they did a good job getting it to almost the color i want. They said it would take a process to get to a lighter color and I get it cause I do have dark hair. Diana did my hair. Shes so sweet. Will be going back to get a toner in my hair to get it a shade brighter. Overall happy with my results and the place.

I left feeling confident and more educated on my hairs needs. My silk press lasted a month, and I definitely will be returning in the near future.

Tasha Notsaying Its a natural hair salon. They are very conscious of the type of products used for natural hair. They worked a miracle on my hair! They are worth their prices and have a friendly atmosphere. Tiffany Blake Kimmie ks yes ma’am I didn’t get my hair done there but I took my daughter Ms. K took her time with daughter love that so much because my daughter has a lot of hair and tender headed the end results so beautiful…. They made us feel welcome.. they gave me knowledge and tip so on how to maintain my daughters what products to use that was great cuz I’m not a hair person. Ms.Kimmie is friendly nice the shop was clean…. I am definitely making this place my daughter the go to salon when she left before we can get across the street she said she wanted to come back…. Nicole Arana I was looking for a stylist in my area to do a wash, deep condition, blow dry, silk press, trim and pin curls for my husbands 40th birthday party. It was definitely a last minute decision. I havent straightened my 4c hair in 3 years due to heat damage with a previous stylist. HEAT DAMAGE is my biggest concern with my hair but I felt comfortable with giving Kimmies a chance after seeing the silk press videos on their Instagram page and they fact that they were within walking distance from my house was a plus. I was able to get a 2pm appt on Friday, 1/24. When I got there I was greeted warmly by Kimmie. She had me fill out a questionnaire to find out if I had any allergies, how I usually handle my hair, etc. I was also offered a mimosa that I declined because I knew Id be drinking later that evening. She explained to me that Ciara would be handling my silk press. Ciara introduced herself to me and talked me through various steps. My silk press started at $85. I was charged $30 for "cut" which really felt and looked more like a trim but I went along with it since I knew it had been 3 years since I had a real trim. What I regret not asking about was the heat protectant being used on my hair because while my husband and kids LOVED my hair and I got a lot of compliments on it when I washed my hair out Saturday 2/8 expecting to go back to my heat damage free curls...I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED. Needless to say, my hair is FRIED in various sections. While I enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere at Kimmies with the state my hair is now in after receiving service there I wouldnt go back without bringing my own heat protectant and I wouldnt even be comfortable with recommending any of my natural hair friends to try them when they want to straighten their hair. Which sucks. I would love to be able to find stylist near me who can actually do a silk press without frying the hell out of my hair! I had to cut the straight parts out, what I could cut out without basically chopping my length off. I cant even go back to my usual two strand twists because my hair is super straight in certain parts. This was such a disappointing experience but its just hair, right?

I contacted them and made an appointment to get a consultation, loc repair and re-twist. I get there and I forgot the locs I needed to repair. I ask if she can use fake hair, the owner says “she doesn’t have.” Okay, still ask for a re-twist. I’m up to wash and I say to say “can you make sure it looks good?” Remember, I forget the locs and she doesn’t have any fake hair. This wasn’t said because I don’t think she doesn’t know what she’s doing. This is because, I’m walking around with missing hair, I feel ugly and overall I’m nervous. Immediately, the lady says “I’m gonna do my job. I’ve been in the business 25 years. I don’t know what you mean by”make sure it look good”. At this point, I took off the towel and said let me go because I see that I offended you and I didn’t mean to offend you. Lady, you may be in this business 25 years but you have zero years of empathy, understanding, patience or customer service. If you did, you would know that I was not trying to be rude and my comments had nothing to do with your skillset or expertise but my confidence. Thank you for the negative experience.

Nancy Rodriquez Not honest people. It’s evident the ladies don’t love their craft which is doing hair. The prices are outrageous even for quick hairstyles. It should be no reason I’m paying $130-$300 for my braids and other styles not to last longer than a week.The boss is a drunk that tells you one price and whisper in the ladies ears to raise the price higher than what’s said on the phone. Washing and styling hair seems to be a chore so I will not return.

Claricia Belle The worst salon experience of my life!!!!!!!!!! Left to me I would not even give them one star! I am not from the area, and I just needed my wig curled and slightly maintained and the woman overcharged me for a complete install when I specifically told her I didn’t need an install. By the time I got back to where I’m staying I had no curls due to poor work done. She didn’t even moisturize my wig nothing. When I addressed the owner and the woman about it they just took my money and said I got a service even though it’s not the service I asked for. Wicked people. I don’t recommend at all bunch of rip offs
