Autumn Taylor I’ve been going to Salon Dumbo for the past few years to see my hairstylist I’ve had for almost 10 years, Chad Taber! The salon is always clean and the other staff are incredibly nice and hospitable. Wonderful salon! Chad KILLS the hair game from color to cuts, long or short you can trust him to give you a haircut that will leave you feeling like your best self. Highly suggest stopping in at Salon Dumbo and asking for Chad!

Sasha Kanarski I recently moved to NY and needed to find another trustworthy colorist for my hair with experience working with copper coloring. I also needed a stylist who specifically works with L’anza products because they’re more gentle/clean/healthy (and my longtime formula). Prior to my move, I had trusted only one colorist for years to color my hair. Diego at Dumbo Salon impressed me by doing a perfect job with my color. It was as if my previous stylist did my hair. I’m so happy I found Diego and will be returning!

Annie Banyai Diego was incredible. He listened to exactly what I wanted and delivered. He explained what my hair needed and why my previous cut wasn’t right for me. Also love the Wednesday $90 haircut deal. I’ll definitely be back.

Isabella Montoya Diego and Eileen consistently knock it out of the park. I go to Diego for cuts, and he always spends the first part asking me about my hair goals and explaining what his plan is for my cut. He is so kind and thorough! I go to Eileen for my keratin treatments. She is so gentle– Ive never once felt too much heat or pulling, and she always checks in to make sure Im doing alright. She does an excellent job of getting every stray lock of hair. They are both deeply committed to their craft, and it certainly shows.

Chris Waters I used Salon Dumbo as a stop on a marriage proposal treasure/scavenger hunt and they were AMAZING! Everyone was extremely communicative. They had a stylist and makeup artist who were incredible. On top of the amazing job they did, they also helped me make sure she was out at the correct time for the marriage proposal. Phoebe Alman Been going to this salon for a couple years I will never go anywhere else!! I had tried so many other stylists but they never seemed to execute the vision I had in mind. But Crissel always manages to give me exactly what I want and I’m always blown away by the results! Not only is she super friendly and fun to talk to, shes also great at personalizing your desired look for your hair type. Always gives me the best recommendations for hair products and hair styles. Never letting anyone else touch my hair again!

Christine G It’s been about 3 weeks since I went to Crissel’s for the first time. I made an appointment and although it was busy, I walked in and the staff was kind upon entering. Crissel looked at the inspiration photos I had and talked me through the entire process since I was going to get balayage done and was trying a new haircut. Crissel was very attentive, patient and kind throughout this process and did everything I wanted. She also made the time fly with her ability to hold your attention and check-in with you through out the process which I appreciated. I would definitely go back. And if you’re nervous I recommend trying it out. I will say after 3 weeks of having washed and blow dried my hair since then, my hair still looks amazing.

Olia Li I’ve been coming here for years, and let me tell you, this place is nothing short of magical! It’s like a spa for your soul, but with better hair and nails. Vanya is a wizard with scissors – seriously, I think his hands were blessed by the haircut gods themselves. He doesn’t just listen to your requests; he’s like a mind reader who knows exactly what you want even when you’re not sure yourself. Every time I walk out, I feel like I’m ready for the cover of a magazine, and trust me, I don’t say that lightly. And then there’s Svetlana. She’s basically the Michelangelo of nails. Every time she works her magic, my nails are healthier than I ever thought possible – they could probably run a marathon. The best part? The jealous side-eye I get from all the girls at work. You know you’ve hit nail perfection when your manicure is causing some serious envy. So yeah, 10/10 would recommend – unless you enjoy bad hair days and sad nails, in which case, maybe skip this place. Otherwise, prepare to be obsessed!

ishanti foster the best hair salon experience ever! im obsessed with this place, and its officially become my new hair care home. my stylist is geneva!! the amount of care & time she took to manage and do my hair was exceptional, shes the best and im so happy to continue my hair journey with her. the atmosphere and interior is stunning and screams luxurious, i enjoyed some peppermint tea (they offer a few beverage options) as well and the hair products smell amazing and worked wonders on my 4c hair. all organic and plant based which is exactly what i need for a sensitive scalp like mine!!!!

mia I was in town visiting a friend and desperately needed a blowout. I searched in the area for good salons and the selling point for ARCO is that they also do scalp treatments! I saw Geneva and she was kind and professional and provided a great experience. I was offered a beverage and the hot green tea I had hit the spot on a chilly day! It seemed everyone who worked there had lovely energy and I was very comfortable. The space was also beautiful. My scalp felt so tingly fresh afterwards and my blowout was *chef’s kiss.* Overall I definitely recommend!

Hira Nasir pros: -got a haircut -accommodated for my hijab (cut my hair in the kitchen) cons: -i pressed the button for blow dryer so it works while she blow dries 2 piece of my hair (just bangs) -misleading about the price -walked home with wet hair -on call i was told wash/ styling included. once i got there apparently even the haircut didnt cover the price i was told -received a completely different haircut than promised -not a single product was used -i still paid full price+ tip -overall ghetto

N J Had a wonderful experience at Hermie. I haven’t been taking care of my hair lately and haven’t wore my natural hair out in years. Due to breakage and split ends I thought I would have to do the big chop. When I Went to a Hermie, she told there was not need for the chop ( so glad because I really wasn’t ready for it) she did a treatment and gave me a silk press and I’m so happy how it turned out.

Gabrielle Billington I highly recommend Hermies salon due to the quality service, affordable prices, and customer care. I first came to Hermie a couple months ago for a keratin - she was very knowledgeable about the product she uses, gave me a great trim after months of braids, pressed my hair impeccably, and included products to take home to help my keratin last as long as possible! After washing my hair, when the results of my keratin werent exactly what I expected, I messaged Hermie and she completely heard out all of my concerns and even added a new keratin product to her stock since all keratins are not one size fits all for everyones hair (in my experience, a lot of stylists can get defensive about this kind of stuff so I was extremely happy that I felt heard, Hermie is so kind!!). I came back yesterday to try a different keratin and I love the results so far! Still, even with the initial keratin I got, the results were very good - I could go to the gym and work out all week and my hair still looked great. I didnt have to straighten/retouch my hair nearly as much (could go two weeks and then some with my hair straightened) and the amount of time it took to blow dry and straighten my hair decreased a lot around 45 min-1hr for the whole process. I was just looking for a product that would loosen my curl a bit more! Would recommend Hermie to anyone!

Kimberly Etienne I found this salon on google and booked because of good reviews. A salon that can’t handle a basic wash and blow dry should not be in business. They do not know how to cater to natural hair. My hair was still dirty after the wash, my hair wasn’t completely blow dried, and the process was painful. Learn your lesson from me and book elsewhere.

Jamé Jackson I recently had a poor experience with a stylist as well as a barber. On a recommendation I came over and was seen by Petal. She was phenomenal - as someone who is seriously tender headed, she took time washing me and curling my short pixie without a single burn. She also shaped my pixie and did damage control which I appreciated. I walked out feeling confident about my hair and will be returning back. The prices are a bit on the higher side but it’s worth the quality you’re going to receive. Everyone in there was professional and kind, from the customers to the staff. The store owner was also very pleasant and welcoming. They have a fan in me!

Stephanie F. I started growing out my hair after having it cut super short for about 3 years. It’s at an awkward length and I’m about to go on a trip and wanted my hair braided. I wasn’t sure if people would be able to work with my length (4inches in some place and about 2 inches in others cause I had a fade) and I was able to make a hair consultation for free then I booked with Jodi the braider. She did a great job, she didn’t braid tight and she was really nice and very responsive to my needs. She gave me some input and suggestions on the style I wanted as far as length and I’m glad she did. I love the hair. The only thing is this place is expensive even considering how expensive it is generally to get braids in. (The picture is my hair 2 days later)

Carmen Ng this is an old coloring and haircut but wanted to show appreciation for Joe (balayage) and Sam (haircut). i have been going here for a couple of years before i moved and every time i came my hair turned out perfect. the price was extremely fair as well. joe has an amazing team of people who help color hair, and he also checks up on everyone while their hair is bleaching and/or toning to make sure it is the color that they desire. i remember going to joe for a correction from another coloring at a different salon that i hated. he re-colored my hair in less than 2 hours and it looked better than the $600 i paid at a different salon. sam is amazing at cutting and styling hair - he is meticulous with every detail and provides his own opinion if you need it (such as if it would look okay going shorter, cutting bangs a certain way, etc). i LOVE the way he styled my hair and he also provided tips on how i can achieve it at home. also the team that washes hair!!!! so incredibly comforting, i fell asleep so many times while they do the wash and olaplex treatment lol i would book an appointment with both joe and sam as newlight can get fairly busy. i believe walk-ins are available for haircut -- and if you do walk-in ask for sam for your perfect haircut :) 10000% would recommend to anyone.

Sara Fung First time getting my hair dyed and the results were better than I could’ve envisioned. The people here work as a team and they are orchestrated really well. It may seem chaotic because the salon gets really busy and packed quickly, but they timed every part of the process well. Joe gave me a quick consultation and his team got straight to work. Highly suggest getting an appointment and come early as seating can be limited. Overall process took about 4 hours. Very pleased and I look forward to returning for my future cuts!

Ashley Williams Great service! I was able to get in for an appointment same day and they were very flexible. I just wanted a wash and blow (no flat iron) and they did an excellent job. My shampoo was super thorough and the blowout was perfect. I can’t believe my hair was actually that straight from just a blow out. They did the whole process in under an hour. I’m black with 3c/4a hair and they had seemingly no trouble doing my hair. $50 was a bit pricy for just a wash and blow in my opinion but the service was top tier so I’d go back. Bring cash for tip bc it’s not an option to add it to the card!

User Account First off, Im giving a review based on having the guy cut my hair, he had a bald style the last few times I was there but I dont know if he is bald. The first of this series of trips it was still $8 for a haircut, at least for short hair guys, dont know about long hair or womens hair. He had cut it too short showing the worst parts of my head, I knew it was a new relationship so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and told him what I thought and a very good tip to encourage a better effort next time. The next time, I asked him not to cut as much, because I wanted some recovery room in case it was bad, it was uneven but passable. The time after that, the front was completely slanted in the front. This took 3 months to recover from. I came back a final time recently (when price went up to $10) and he did remember me, though he didnt improve much, it was very bad in the front again so I wont be coming back again. All these times I gave a very good tip, wanting to build a good relationship and have the stylist give more effort but that was not the case. I gave a 3/5 because thats about as high as his ability and effort goes.

Rachel Karen works literally miracles. I came in with chopped bleached hair and she turned it into this in only a few hours. The price was very reasonable too

Assen C Review for Inna – Unprofessional and Overbooked I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Inna. The wait time was unbelievable—I arrived at 10 AM and wasn’t attended to until 10:40 AM. My highlights, which should have been a straightforward process, dragged on from 10 AM to 3 PM because she was juggling four other clients at the same time. She would work on me for a few minutes, disappear to another client, and then return whenever she found the time. I specifically told her not to make me too blonde and asked for a more subtle result. She completely ignored my request, and I ended up just as blonde as before—because she forgot! When I pointed this out, instead of acknowledging the mistake, she became defensive, aggressive, and started screaming at me, insisting she did a great job. I understand handling multiple clients is stressful, but taking on five clients at once for highlights and extensions is beyond unreasonable. To top it all off, she charged me $300 for a service I did NOT ask for. Her attitude was basically, “Give me your money and go.” This level of service is unacceptable. If you want a stylist who actually listens, respects your time, and values your satisfaction—look elsewhere!

A The owner of this salon was doing my hair, when I arrived she was already serving another girl, which is why I had to wait a little, although I had an appointment for a certain time and I did not have much free time to wait. After a while, she sat me down in a chair and started curling my hair. However, she often returned to another client whose hair she was coloring, which really irritated me. Each client pays for the time and service they receive from you. Its just disrespectful to treat customers like that! I would like to point out the unprofessional behavior of the owner of this salon when she asked a young girl, who probably held a curling iron for the first time in her hands, to help her with my hair. Of course the owner began to be unable to cope with two clients at the same time, so she asked the girl who was present in the salon to help her. Unfortunately, this girl accidentally burned my neck several times with the curling iron, which was terrible. In the end, I asked her not to touch me and let the owner take care of my hair, since I pay her for the service. It seems that the owner is trying to earn all the money in the world. Although this is impossible, she apparently does not realize it. It is important to focus on quality rather than quantity! I didnt like the hairstyle at all, so I cant recommend this salon. And the attitude towards clients is a separate topic, which there is nothing to comment on even here.

Gabrielle Okun I cannot thank City Glam enough for their incredible work. I got hair extensions for the first from them the other day, and I am very impressed. The owner, Inna did my hair extensions and she is incredibly talented! She took her time to make microscopic capsules, which do not weigh down my very thin hair. For her work I was astonished that it took only around an hour and half for top quality work-- most other places take four or more hours (on top of overcharging you). The hair is real Slavic hair (best quality), and also so soft, it feels like your real hair. She offers a very fair price for excellent craftmanship and artistry. It is worth every penny. :) Looking forward to our follow up appointment to get them reattached. Thank you for making me feel so beautiful and confident.

My services included a wash, treatment, trim and medium two strand twist. Deitra gave me a friendly and warm welcome to her salon. Her energy made me feel completely at ease and I instantly knew I would be in good hands. Dietra was gentle and precise which resulted in my beyond satisfaction of the finished style. I was nervous I would leave with much of my hair chopped off but Dietra trimmed my hair which left me with length retention. I would gladly recommend Bohemian Soul.

Faith This is such a wonderful hair salon. I searched for a great natural hair salon for years and finally stumbled upon this gem about one year ago!!!! At Bohemian Soul I can easily book my appointment online and like magic, when I arrive at the salon my stylist Solomon is there to greet me...on time and with a smile ☺️. The service is exceptional, the atmosphere is delightful and their prices are reasonable. If you’ve been on the hunt for all these amenities look no further. Jenise Araujo I had the signature mini twists styled last week. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment was scheduled to start and Deitra actually started my appointment early! She was super pleasant and professional, made me feel relaxed since this was the first time I was getting this style. She was super efficient, used our time together wisely and gave me good instructions on how to maintain my style. I definitely plan to go back to this salon to try other styles. Brittany Sandoval Ariana is the best. She did exactly what I had in mind and taught me about my hair and how to simplify my hair routine and use the products. She is extremely knowledgeable and is also super sweet and really easy to talk to. She really paid attention to the details of my haircut, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole visit. Im excited for my next visit!

Jennifer En I went in on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving with blonde highlights. I showed Jessica a photo reference with a blonde color that was an ashier blonde. She spent hours on my hair and turned it blue. I was charged the $245 deposit but did not pay the remainder. She had spent the whole time telling me my hair was dull and how the previous colorist made the color muddy—but she would transform it. My blonde was stripped and my hair was dark with blue in it when I left….. I went to another salon two days later to have the blue removed. The colorist there told me the blue was added to cover a ton of mistakes Jessica had made. This is the end of my relationship with this salon. Photo reference I provided versus what I left with. Gaslit and told the color was fine and not purple/blue. It’s really the lack of integrity for me in handling mistakes.

Valeria Diaz Jessica is the best! I came in after 1 year+ of not getting a cut. I wanted to preserve my length while making sure my hair looked healthy and Jess understood exactly what I wanted. She’s awesome with my curly hair. In the past I’ve gotten blowouts instead of styling my curly hair and it turns out great too.

Mil Bey This review is late as I had my appointment in late November 2024. Went in for a blowout and flat iron. Informed person on the phone that I have ‘natural black hair’. They said ok and quoted me the price for what I requested. At the salon, the person I was told I’d be seeing (during call I was told I was going to see a specific stylist) was not available. Was also told since I have ‘natural black hair’ I’d be charged for a ‘silk press’ which was double the price of what I was quoted over the phone for a blowout and press. What chaos! I was about to walk out but the manager or assistant manager figured it out (with the assistance of the very nice new trainee, a person who’s experienced with ‘black natural hair’). I was able to get what I wanted after a lot of back and forth. And as important, I paid for the price I was quoted over the phone. Despite the fact that all worked out at the end, I will not be going back. Too much chaos and confusion for me.

Rosalind Reyes I had went for a haircut on November 16 and I called before asking for prices and I let them know that my hair is long so I can understand that pricing can be different. They told me over the phone a different price and when I got there I ended up paying for a different price way more than what they told me. Today I had an appointment that I couldn’t make it to, told me I had opened the google form, I tried to cancel online but it wasn’t letting me. I explained over the phone that I am in process of moving so I can’t make it. I told her the first time I went I ended up paying for a different price and she completely dismissed that and said that I will stay have to pay half for cancelling. I didn’t complain about having to pay more on my first visit because I liked the haircut even if one side was a little longer than the other side. I paid even when the price I was told on the phone was completely different. I just expected that same level of understanding of why I couldn’t make it today. I felt deceived when at the end of my appointment they give me a whole different price. But I still paid, no problem. It’s disappointing because she was dismissive when I pointed that out. I say I’m in the process of moving and they still want to charge half, on one side I can understand they could’ve booked another person but where’s the understanding for me.

Hira Choudhry Asked for a straight hair cut and can’t even cut hair straight. I asked him 3x to make it straight but he kept cutting shorter and shorter because could not get a straight cut? Never going to this place again!

mina javed I told them I was in a hurry and they said they would be able to finish by the time I had to leave. Took ppl who came in after me, before me. He then proceeded to spend more time talking and waving his hands around than actually blow dry my hair. Won’t be coming back

Haieqa Nadeem this was the worst salon experience I have ever had in my life. As a person with long hair I require haircuts a lot so I have different experience with salons and so far they have all been good until I came to this one. She very roughly trimmed my sisters hair and was brutally brushing her hair while yanking it. After ruining my sisters hair, she followed us outside the salon begging for a tip. Please do not go here, there are a lot of other options on Ave U. The picture shows the trim I payed $16 for.

Sherry Giordano I went here a few months ago was reccomend by a friend told to go to someone named ming big dissapoint! Worst place ever did a terrible job dont think he spoke english told him what I wanted gave me exact opposite . went back to try and get it fixed looked even worse then he complained about me to the other worker there in chinise I went for cheap and thats what I got get what you pay for ruined my hair cut it to short and did not listen to what I wanted give bad haircuts nobody speaks english to bad I had to give 1 star my opinion 0 star would be more accurate
