Erica Shin is the person you go to for a unique haircut and relaxing experience. He just totally gets it when it comes to more modern artistic cuts and color. He has been recommended to me by pop stars and artists in NY community and it is clear why they all go to him. His years of experience really shine through. Shin listens and really honors your vision. Go to him if you want something artistic and unique!

Nicole Bartner Here’s the thing. We live in Vermont and, may I just say, it can be CHALLENGING, to get a good haircut in The Green Mountain State. So there’s that. But also, Miranda has been keeping her hair waist long forEVER and was just not able to wrap her mind around actually cutting it. As in getting a style and framing her face and just losing some of all that. And, again, the stylists in Vermont were not “helpful” in making any kind of change. So we were FINALLY going to be able to get back to NYC and I decided I would take the opportunity to take Miranda to an actual, legit salon where a stylist with knowledge, experience and skill would be able to do some “makeover” magic. But! I also needed that stylist to bring the Good Vibes and the Positive Energy to make this a GOOD experiences for Miranda. You know? Back in the 80s, when I was coming up and would sometimes get my hair done in NYC the “salon vibe” was, frankly, STRAIGHT MEAN. Like everyone was snotty and rude and mean. Probably because they were all also starving themselves in a doomed attempt to get that starved look that was ALL the craze back then. Also, of course, I have curly hair and that was just not a thing. It was never a good, fun, positive experience for me. But I’m GROWN these days and figured I could direct the whole situation as required to steer it in the right direction. I didn’t have to. Every aspect of our visit to David Ryan Salon was pretty much perfect. I chose David Ryan because we were staying in The Garment District and I knew I could find a place, walking distance, in Hell’s Kitchen. So I went online and read through descriptions and services offered and online reviews. David Ryan Salon, in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, is a GORGEOUS spot. The interior is really just perfect. It was quiet while we were there, but also we’d brought 2 small toddlers with us. So that was just as well. When I booked Miranda’s appointment I chose to request a Master Stylist. Because, WHY NOT? Two things: if you’re paying a professional to do something, get the good one! Also, there is no such thing as a good, cheap haircut. That being said, Miranda’s cut and style was $130. Which, IMO, is NOT expensive for an excellent haircut from a skilled stylist. Miranda’s stylist was Madion Russo. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Madion. Not only is he EXTREMELY good at what he does. He is kind. Kindness goes A LONG way my friends. Especially when you are talking to someone about their personal appearance and, helping them to change it. Not only did he give Miranda a BEAUTIFUL haircut, he talked to her about coloring and conditioning and styling and ALL THE THINGS in such an easy, approachable way. He tailored his service to his client and was just amazing. I cannot recommend David Ryan Salon and, particularly Madion Russo highly enough. We’ll be back!

Lulu Eltouny I couldn’t be more thrilled with this salon. The vibe is great and even during these difficult times, you are greeted warmly with a smile you can see through their masks , and immediately feel at home. Scheduling is easy and seamless either online or through the phone system. The entire vibe of the salon is one of beauty, friendliness, liveliness, and fun. It’s easy to see that the stylists collectively love what they do, each other, and especially their clients. The conversation is always hilarious and inclusive. You are not only getting beautified, but expect to laugh, be entertained, and feel uplifted and encouraged during your time here. My stylist is Robert. He always takes his time to explain and set realistic expectations , doing whatever it takes to see to it that you leave with a smile on your face. He is incredibly accommodating and even came in on his day off the day before I was moving , to make sure that I left with a memorable haircut, colour and style. He’s extremely precise and takes a great deal of pride in his work, which is always amazing. I literally went from hating my hair to absolutely loving it (like unable to stop looking in the mirror loving it). Robert is kind, hardworking, and honest. Add to it that he is one of the most gifted stylists to whom I’ve had the honor of entrusting my hair. Thank you , Robert and David Ryan salon!

Alicha Scott I love Madion! He is so amazing & very knowledgeable! He looked at my hair and knew exactly what I needed. He also did my make up, which looked fabulous! My only problem Is that I live in South Carolina and he’s in New York. He’s worth a trip to NYC every six months!! I can’t wait to see you then!!

Chloe Nicole Absolutely Horrible Experience – Unprofessional & Insensitive I had the worst experience imaginable at this salon with Madison. From the moment I walked in, he trashed my hair, making harsh and unnecessary comments about its condition. I’ve been dealing with significant hair loss, which is already difficult, and instead of being supportive or professional, he made me feel miserable. I was already anxious about my hair, and his cruel remarks only made it worse. As if that wasn’t enough, he went out of his way to make sure I had multiple photos on my phone to remind me of how “bad” my hair was. Who does that?! Instead of helping me feel better, he made sure I had a lasting reminder of something I’m already struggling with. It was beyond insensitive—it was cruel. He made bizarre statements like, “I’m not going to let you use heat on your hair for a year.” It’s one thing to give advice—it’s another to make controlling, condescending statements like that. The entire experience was deeply uncomfortable. On top of that, I hated my haircut. I always part my hair in the center, which we discussed before he started, yet I left with a side part. The length is also at least an inch shorter than we agreed upon. When I got home, I had to restyle my hair myself because I was so unhappy with how he did it at the salon. Instead of feeling refreshed and confident, I left feeling worse than before. A haircut should be a relaxing and positive experience—not humiliating and dreadful. I would never recommend this salon to anyone, especially not Madison. Unprofessional, insensitive, and completely unacceptable.

Bianca Nieves Auggie is literally hands down the most amazing with hair extensions ! I barely ever let another stylist do my hair because I’m a hairstylist myself but honestly hands down the up most best experience ! He understood exactly what i was looking for in terms of extensions & styling and gave me exactly what i needed. I followed him from dry bar , hair bar and now studio 34. Please book if you ladies are looking to get slayed for the holidays or honestly FOREVER ! Your hands are gold baby !!!!!

Taylor Hall Murad is amazingly talented at what he does! Coloring my hair for over 20 years he’s by far the best at capturing the perfect color for me that looks natural and bright. I trusted him with shortening my hair 6+ inches and have kept the hairstyle ever since! I can show him one picture of a cut or color and he not only brings to life but tailors it to a way where the color and length and cut look ideal for me. I’ve never gotten so many compliments and feel like I finally found my ideal color and cut with him. He’s the best!

Alex May Murad saved my hair from a wolf-cut gone wrong at another salon. Now I have a cute bob. Really nice guy, very talented, and great price! Feeling so much better.

Emily Pollock Booked a blow out when I was in NYC for a wedding. Irene was amazing-so sweet and so talented. The salon is clean, bright and so welcoming. Its also very affordable!! Id absolutely recommend this salon to anyone who needs hair and beauty services.

Diana C Vallejos I had a pleasant experience overall— read if you are peculiar about processes. The owner, David, took great care of me. He was very hospitable and did a lovely job with the coloring of my hair —he works very fasts! Which almost makes up for the fact that we got started on my hair 45min past my confirmed appointment, that I paid a $20 deposit for. Heads up ladies! If you are shy around men, you should know they have a man doing the hair washing. This took me back at first but, he was surprisingly very gentil and did a phenomenal job! I 10/10 recommend the young man for your wash. What I did NOT appreciate, was that I asked and **paid** for a blowout but David’s team insisted that flat iron curls were a better option “for the sake of the pictures”, huh?— it definitely was not the look I was going for... Anyways, with all that being said. Even though they aren’t great with stinking to a schedule, I can work past that because David is very talented and I want to believe his team meant well. With better communication I am positive my next experience will be 10/10.

Erin M I cannot say enough amazing things about balayage me hair salon. I LOVE my haircut done by Inessa! Not only did Inessa cut my hair but she took the time to talk with me and give me ideas as to what she felt would look best. I am so happy I met Inessa because I now have my go to hairdresser. :) I am a creature of habit, when I like something I am loyal, and Inessa earned me as her client ! If you have any concerns about trying a new place or someone new, let me be the one to calm you down. You will be extremely happy. Go there! Asap!

Karly Fuentes-Paredes I walked past Balayage Me several times and it was about time I got my roots and overall hair color fixed so I decided to come here! I asked for a partial balayage and Firuza and the other stylists helped make sure we picked the perfect color for my hair! I also asked for a trim and a blowout (I have long layers so needed those fixed) and overall, I loveddd my new and refreshed hair! Firuza had great attention to detail, especially when trimming my front pieces. They are all super sweet to work with so I def plan on coming back!

Pannaga V I had a great experience with Firuza, and Inesa assisted with the overall process. I originally booked a partial balayage but ended up receiving a full balayage instead. While I was ultimately satisfied with the final hair color, the process itself had some concerns. My appointment was scheduled for 6:00 PM, and unfortunately, the entire process felt a bit rushed. I choose Chestnut Brown shade. During the process, Inesa mentioned that the color mixture included two shades, one of which I had not originally selected. This adjustment caused additional delays. While I was happy with the end result, I believe it is the stylist’s responsibility to ensure that the client receives the exact color they request, rather than making unapproved changes. What I found particularly disappointing was being told, "See, we are so nice that we waited for you. Although it is our closing time, we are staying late." Given that I was paying over $270 for the service, I do not believe this was an appropriate remark. The entire process, including color application, toner, and blow-dry, took two hours. Since the salon was closing by the time my service was completed, Inesa became increasingly hasty. It is important to acknowledge that it was equally late for me. Furthermore, there was an issue with the billing. The initial total was over $70 more than what I was supposed to pay. I strongly advise customers to DOUBLE CHECK their bills and calculate the total themselves to avoid overcharges. Overall, while I was delighted with the final color by Firuza, the rushed service and billing issue left me somewhat disappointed with the experience.

ZaharoZee iCloud Zelda is an absolute wonder. She was my first balayage experience and has been for 3+ years now. Not only is she the most talented, honest and sweetest person I know, but her hair skills (or how I like to call it, her hair ART) is beyond expectation. Not to mention, her prices are considerably reasonable and fair for a salon in the heart of NYC. Highly recommend Zelda at All About Hair!!

Diana Nassar I honestly can’t say enough great things about Mure Salon, specifically Sergio. He was so meticulous and attentive, taking the time to perfect every detail. I had a cut, color, and olaplex treatment. I’ve always had difficult to manage hair and it’s hard to find a color I’ve ever liked but walking out my hair feels so healthy, and I’m absolutely obsessed with the final result. Valida Brulaj Kristina has been my stylist for over 15 years, and couldnt recommend her enough! Truly a great person who has the innate ability to understand her clients and leave them feeling amazing when they leave :). If youre like me and never know exactly what you want, shes great at helping you figure it out... I never have to worry about what to do with my hair because I trust Kristina and I am always happy with the result. My blonde hair is so long and healthy only thanks to Kristinas wonderful hands and I would NEVER trust anyone with my blonde hair other than her. Check out pic below - AMAZING!

Kait Dieppa Everyone at Mure Salon is so professional, attentive and a master at their craft. They made me feel so confident with my new color. EP While I wish I could give a better review, the results weren’t what was asked for. I initially had black hair and was looking for a medium to dark neutral, cool town brown. I showed example photos to Maria, and she seemed very knowledgeable about the process and assured there would not be brassiness or red tones (which I specifically asked again just before service - $300). Unfortunately that’s exactly what I got. Then an attempt to tone to help, which made it black again. And then another lightening attempt which made it brassy brown again. At that point I was told to wait for natural light the next day and call. I did and it was still brassy so she offered to fix in the earliest availability. Which was great except when I got back to fix, the quoted cost was $245 for products. I said no and she offered to tone again and assured it would tame the brassiness- it did not and made it black again with brassiness. So now I’m back to wear I started and with a tone I absolutely did not want. The photos show the second attempt at fixing, first photo on the way there, and the next two photos after. UPDATE: the below response from the salon is untrue. In the initial visit, Maria promised no red/warm/brassy tone. She only in the second visit tried to talk me out of the cool neutral brown color I wanted with all this talk of maintenance etc. although I said I would have still done it- without worry of any budget constraint. Except she was then charging another $245 to make it happen. After the original $300 charged.

aditi new I will follow Maria wherever she goes. I’ve been going to her for maybe 6 years now and she and the other stylists have always done the most amazing job with my hair. I have long, thick, black hair. For every cut I go in with a variety of photos none looking anything like the other and Maria manages to create a unifying vision out of them. My layers are always outstanding and I am very particular about my layers! The only 2 times I’ve colored my hair was with her and both were stunning. I’m still getting compliments on my second color 2 years later. I love them all at Westvibe. They’re just a solid bunch of outstanding stylists!

Andrea Meyer I have been going to West Vibe Salon exclusively for about six years, and there is one solid reason: the people. The team has always been incredibly talented, professional, and, above all, kind. And they consistently deliver fantastic, high-quality results! Maria is a prime example of the abundance of talent at West Vibe. An excellent stylist, she is also a great listener, truly hearing what her clients want. As basic as this sounds, I’ve found it rare to have a stylist actually listen. After years of stylists doing the exact opposite of what I asked for, I tried West Vibe out of frustration and have stuck with them ever since! But what truly keeps me coming back is that clients aren’t just clients. We’re treated like friends and family. Yes, it is a professional relationship, but it is much like a family and friend reunion when you walk into the salon. If you want excellent styling and wonderful people, I strongly recommend giving West Vibe a shot!

R Sav I’ve been getting my hair cut and colored at West Vibe since 2020. I first saw Caesar for an intense color correction from my attempting to highlight my own hair during the pandemic - he did an amazing job correcting my mental breakdown lol. Since Caesar has done an exceptional job consulting coloring services that best match my complexion and maintenance preferences (6+ months). He’s done highlights to solid color, back to highlights, to toning darker, and so on. I’m always so happy with how it turns out and always get compliments on any color change and/or cut. As far as cuts go, he knows how to manage layering and thinning my very thick hair which has a natural wavy texture. Maria has also helped with highlighting, washing, and styling my hair as well and does an amazing job! I used to live on the same block as West Vibe and now I’m ~40 min away but I will commute to get my hair done here. There’s no one I trust more to take care of my hair and be honest about what color will look good on me. THANK YOU WEST VIBE!

Wilneida Negron Came in for a color correction with severely dry and bleached out hair. Despite the state of my hair, I was hoping to try a copper color. I booked with Ayca who was patient, thoughtful, and fully understood what I wanted and could be done given the state of my hair. My goodness she exceeded my expectations. She got the exact copper tone I wanted and also conditioned and treated it, so she also repaired for the sad state it was in. Truly masterful work and one of the best hair experiences Ive ever had.

Julia Tetrud I have had trust issues with salons ever since I got bangs my freshman year of high school, but this experience wiped all of that away. I went in with a ton of damage from using box dyes. My hair was this ugly shade of copper and I wanted to get it lightened and blend it in with my natural hair color. Cecy was my hair dresser and was incredibly detailed when it came to figuring out how to not only correct the color, but to highlight and blend everything to match with my roots. I couldnt be happier and absolutely recommend this place! Ask for Cecy!

When I tell you her hands are miracle workers— here’s the proof. She listened exactly to what I wanted, and executed beyond my expectations. Erika has a great sense of color and is gifted in designing a hair style that will bring out your true beauty, You can trust her to do what YOU ask and she will offer you her opinion without being pushy, Her color correction skills were phenomenal. I had the best hair color ever, Red is a very difficult color to remove, but she did a wonderful job with the color correction. I needed a new color and a new haircut. My cut and color are perfect. Her blow dry has lasted 3 days, the longest ever. Without question,I have recommended Erica to many friends (and stangers) and they have all been very happy.

Allison Herzil I just had one of the best haircuts I have ever had by Rosa!! I had very long, wavy in some spots, overgrown layers, and hadnt had a really good haircut in years. Came to this salon for the first time today and I was so happy with my haircut!!!! She listened carefully to what I wanted and was so meticulous with my cut. The end result was perfect! And she was a pleasure to chat with. Will definitely be back.

Melissa Marin While my stylist was nice and talkative, she was definitely NOT able to deliver the haircut I wanted. I showed her a video of the cut I wanted (see attached screenshot) and the cut she gave me (next photo) was far from what I asked for. Rosa cut my face framing layers wayyy too short and not in the style I wanted, despite her making comments at the start of my appointment about other stylists who cut their clients hair way too short and promised to keep my length, but then she ended up doing the same exact thing to me! I definitely do not think this is worth a $150 haircut. It’s going to take me months to grow my hair out to the length I want. From the beginning, I HAD the length available to achieve the cut I wanted, which Rosa was unable to do. On top of that, they don’t even perform the Brazilian Blowout treatment correctly! After they applied the product, they blow dried my hair straight and then flat ironed it. After that, they were supposed to rinse out the product immediately and then apply a bonding spray and finish styling which they completely skipped. I called the official Brazilian Blowout company to confirm this and they sent me a PDF of all the steps in their Brazilian Blowout process (please see attached.) After I explained to them what Gabriel Shimunov’s hair salon did instead, she was shocked that they would let me leave the salon in the middle of my treatment (literally) without finishing it and advised me to rinse immediately in the shower myself rather than leave the product in my hair for 3 days like the salon suggested I do, which is dangerous to myself, babies or pets when I have literal formaldehyde unrinsed in my hair for 3 days straight! That comment came straight from the Brazilian Blowout company themselves. This also could’ve resulted in the BB treatment not lasting as long and leaving my hair with a lot of buildup, heaviness and greasiness. For the price you pay at this salon, I really expected better quality service which I did not receive in EITHER of the treatments I got. Look somewhere else!

Georgia Little I have been coming to Alex for years and I wish I found him sooner! Before I found Alex it was hard to find someone who was consistent with my highlights. Every time I walk in I know I am going to leave loving my hair. Even if I wasn’t happy with the highlights I know he would stay however long it took to get it right. He once did my hair on Christmas at 6 am!!! He cares about all of his clients and always goes above and beyond to make sure they are taken care of. He listens to what his clients want and is consistent. If you come to the salon you will see every chair filled and it’s for a reason. He is a great listener, professional, knowledgeable, and a hard worker. You won’t regret coming to Alex.

Sam Cooper I have been coming to Alex for almost a decade now, and trust only him with my blonde!! His knowledge of hair science is unmatched - he listens to what you are looking for, but always gets you there in the safest way possible. Trust his suggestions! My hair is the healthiest and longest it has ever been. And I’ve never tried extensions personally, but Liz is the queen - her work is amazing and if I ever decide to try them, she’d be my first stop. I love seeing what they create at Aerea. Bonus, there is almost always a sweet little dog in the salon, sometimes a few. :) I moved to the ‘burbs, but they keep me coming back regularly!

Lina Oh Jacob is such a fantastic colorist! I got a double process coloring from elsewhere that resulted in terribly brassy, orangish hair, and wanted it toned to a more natural brown to fit my skin tone. Jacob showed me different shades of toning that was available, communicated efficiently on what I wanted, and delivered the perfect result! The entire process took about 2 hours and was so smooth & comfortable :) Will definitely return in the future & highly recommend to others!

Jessica Hernandez Jacob was absolutely amazing! He was so flexible to work with and just an overall joy during the entire appointment. Also I love where we landed with my hair! Kathy Murphy Jacob is an artist and a professional. I had an unusual shade of auburn which a prior stylist selected. Jacob took the base formula and improved it. He is a master colorist. He also created a great hairstyle. A terrific experience. Can’t wait for next appointment!

Heather McCalden It’s always a joy visiting T-Gardens! My stylist is Min, who is truly exceptional. I’ve seen her twice for Japanese straightening and both times I’ve left the salon feeling like a model. I have extremely long hair, which Min treats with care - and devotion. It’s clear hair is a passion and not just a job. Her attention to detail is unrivalled! I completely recommend her and the salon : )

Xingjian Hou Several months ago I asked for a short bob haircut, and showed the stylist the picture below. I think he did a good job at cutting my hair with a side view that quite looks like the picture, though probably a bit shorter. However, from the front my hair looked so short. More than one person couldnt even tell whether I was a girl or a boy -- I dont know if everyone who wears this style and doesnt put on makeup will look this way, or if there is something that could be improved with the haircut he gave me. The stylist did a decent job at following my wishes, but it would be great if he could explain the consequences of getting this haircut (if looking androgynous is expected) and offer advice.

Dena Ahmed Yama was amazing! My hair was severely tangled but he took the time to get it all brushed out and dedicated his whole time to work on my hair. It was so worth it and Ive found my new favorite place to go to. Its an hour drive for me from NJ but its worth it for manageable hair. Thank you T-Gardens and Yama!!!

Something Special This place is great! I went for a Japanese straightening with Master Stylist Min back in July and Im very pleased with the results. I just scheduled an appointment for a touch up which Ill be doing every 6 months. Its not cheap but Id say its worth the money. They were also very sweet.

Alberto Sanchez I had the opportunity to have my hair fixed by Master Stylist Yama. His professionalism and his craft were excellent. I had a curled perm, which was poorly done, and he was able to restore my hair to its natural state and cut/shape my hair into exactly what I wanted. Before and after photos , two months apart. You are in great hands at this salon.

Meredith Hirsh Rosa was fabulous. I told her that I wanted to have beachy waves and she used a flat iron like I’ve never seen one used. Such fabulous curl. And, what a sweetheart! I’m in from out of town and have an event tonight and was looking for a blow dry studio in the area. The reviews prior to mine were fabulous and so was my experience.

Andrea Beck Beautiful blowout in record time. Lola gave me a full wash and dry plus beach waves for my long(ish) hair in 30 minutes flat. It looks fabulous! Highly recommend this place!

Lourdes Rijos We went to get a hairdo for my daughter and asked for suggestions, but none of the staff knew how to do a proper hairstyle. The stylist they assigned suggested curls because it was the easiest option, yet she couldn’t even do that properly. I paid $80 just to have my daughter’s hair tangled, with curls that weren’t even defined. She didn’t even know how to do a simple half-up ponytail. If you don’t know how to do something, don’t offer the service—just be honest and say you can’t. Very disappointed

Chelsea Dill Had an event and wanted a quick blow out. GS was close to my hotel Hilton Midtown. Rakan was great! GS is a buzzy place with super friendly and capable staff!

Iv My go to salon in the neighborhood, they’re always busy but love that they take walk ins! They saved me so many times. The flexibility and professionalism of the team never disappoints. I’ve seen Rosa and Bridget and they’re both great and have a lot of experience. Ask for them if you have similar hair to mine, I have super long and thick hair and it’s never been an issue.

Jiao Zhou I went to this place for a simple bang cut yesterday. I showed them the picture I wanted (as seen in the first picture) and told the stylist(Kazunori) that my hair is curved, so he might need to straighten it before cutting. However, he said it was fine and cut my hair in just 5 minutes. After he finished, I felt the shape looked a bit odd, but he assured me it was correct. Today, when I woke up, I noticed that no matter how I styled my hair, the middle part was longer than the left and right sides. I called the salon to ask if they could fix it for me, as the correction would take less than 5 minutes. However, they told me the stylist wasn’t working that day. Since I really hated how my bangs looked, I asked if anyone else could fix them, given it was such a simple adjustment. They told me I’d have to wait. Frustrated, I ended up fixing my bangs myself. I do not recommend this place to anyone if they can’t even get a simple bang cut right. I tried to fix my bangs and booked another appointment at their Union Square location because I trusted a stylist I had worked with before. However, the manager at that location called me and canceled my appointment, claiming it was because I left a bad review for their Greenwich Village location. This is completely unprofessional and caused me even more inconvenience. Instead of addressing the issues that led to my review, they chose to punish me as a customer. Unbelievable!

Prafu Awesome service, great, talented hairstylists. This is one the very few places that could be certainly rated 5 stars for the quality of the service. I consulted them for hair color and I already had a dark permanent shade in my hair and they were very HONEST ( rare find!) about the possibility of my hair not being able to get any other color on. they even test tried other colors on my hair and confirmed it cant be done. I believe that was very nice of them to have told me the truth ahead of time. I also got myself a hair cut and it was just plain awesome, I have received so many compliments!!! Have found a great place after a very longtime! Strongly recommend this place.

Zoe Gu Been going to the store for 5+ years. Service is really nice and the whole process has been always smooth. Unfortunately every time I went for dying my hair, the result was always not similar to what I was looking for. Since this happened multiple times, sadly it’s time to look for a new place. Just for reference the first picture was what I showed the stylist and the second was what I got (picture taken on the same day). Also the color lasted only two weeks.
