John Imhoff My dad has been here for about 2-weeks. The care he gets is very good. He is comfortable, clean, interacted with and challenged to try and get better. Very happy with his care.

Katie Cook I just drove all the way up here from Georgia to see my father for what I believe to be the last time. He has been a resident of Steuben Center since March 1st this year. His health has declined steadily since hes been there. He weighed 165 lbs when he arrived and now he is down to 123 lbs. Seeing with my two eyes that he is now a skin covered skeleton obviously neglected by the facility for months. Our family has been reaching out and trying to advocate for him because he has dementia and cannot advocate for himself. No one is ever available to speak with us and calls back are extremely rare. When you finally do get to speak with someone and ask your questions they do not have answers but they tell you they will find the answers and get back to you. Rarely do you ever hear back. They take full advantage when someone cannot stand up for themselves and what is right. Walking down the halls hearing people crying out for help with not a single aid in sight. I was there for 2 hours. I saw two workers there when I first arrived but when I went back out of his room 10 minutes later they were gone. I walked around and around the entire unit and could not find anyone except for the people that were in the dietary area. I know they saw me but they looked away and acted real busy. Speaking of which Im pretty certain dinner is supposed to be served at 5:00. When I showed up, my dad was begging for food. I ran down the road and got him some and when I brought it back he was ravenous and ate it all as fast as he could. These people at the facility keep telling me that he is not eating that he has failure to thrive and now a new cancer diagnosis so his death is imminent. My dad has had a history of depression and this place is the most depressing setting I have ever seen for someone in his condition. There wasnt even a cup in his room for water. The ombudsman program is a freaking joke. They cannot help you FYI. My family has been begging everyone we can speak to in the office to transfer him out of there ASAP. I WILL NOT let my father die in this facility. If any of you incompetent employees are reading this just know that I have contacted the health department, the attorney general and the senators office. You will definitely all be aware of the next step that I take. People should band together and start a class action lawsuit against this place. If they keep procrastinating on transferring my father to a facility closer to home we will have no choice but to take him out of there AMA and take him to a hospital where they can find somewhere else for him to go. They cannot provide him comfort care. They cannot provide any kind of comfort to the residents there. The residents get treated worse than animals at an animal shelter. Reading all of these negative reviews. They quite obviously have been getting away with this type of treatment for years and dont give a single f about your concerns or your loved ones well-being.

India Samara I reported this place to the state twice and tried to take action with lawyers. They repeatedly overcharged (against the law) for medical records and would not comply with lawyer requests for records. They erased my mother’s record of them breaking both her arms without licenses. Admin will not call back and they have a new person running the facility every year or so it seems.

Arlene Sanders This place should be shut down. We pulled our family member from here - went for rehab and was so mismanaged and neglected, he died a week after leaving. He died with a necrotic hole in his coccyx that he got while there, his surgical incision on his head was infected, the other residents said staff would take 3 minutes to feed him if we weren’t there, he seldom received therapy, he was so dehydrated frequently, urosepsis, no one would listen to our concerns.. we offered to arrange transport home, they insisted on arranging it… he was sent home in a gerichair, unresponsive with vomit all over him. They were going to arrange services and equipment - NO WHERLCHAIR, NO SERVICES!! He went for rehab, not end of life care. Will be reporting to the state. I could go on and on with all the horrible care he experienced but I’ll just report it to the state and leave it at, if you love your family member, I would not send them there. The only thing pulling this rating number up, is the staff giving 5 star reviews

Josh Sprague Good to see the state is taking action against these nursing homes that inflict neglect, harm, and unreasonable care for their patients. It’s horrible to hear that your organization funneled Medicare/medicaid funds to the top of the top and lined executives pockets. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. As a healthcare worker I pity any neglect or harm to patients. Your organization is disgusting! Good riddance! Shameful!

LeeAnna i was there today to get x-rays. for starters the wait for x-rays was ridiculous. then i had to be admitted into the er to hopefully get my foot splinted. i waiting in the waiting room for an hour and a half. got brought back and didn’t even have a room i was in the hallways. then finally i spoke up because my mother was with me and her blood sugar was dropping and we needed to get home so the dr came over and was very rude and just all over a terrible experience. was at the er from 4 to 6:30. that’s insane.

Larry Stanley I’ve had a variety of outpatient procedures at Ira (even an inpatient one, when they still did that); I was taken by ambulance several years ago for an emergency; it’s where I prefer to have blood work and x-rays, when needed; and I appreciate the convenience of being able to see specialists in the “clinic” setting - something I do more of lately. Do I sometimes have to wait a bit for the lab or x-ray? Sure, but everywhere is short-staffed these days. The staff that works at Ira has always been pleasant, professional, and as efficient as circumstances allow. Bath is the county seat, and the centrally-located Bath community should have a facility that is on par with the ones that are thirty miles distant; however, I am grateful for the services that are available here, and thankful that the management is keeping it open. I will add that I have no connection to any one on the staff, neither friends, relatives, or neighbors, of which I’m aware - just a local who has used the services. It would be a tragedy for the community if Ira Davenport Hospital were ever to close.

Darlynn Spizzeri I love this hospital. I have been there through the emergency department many times and have never had a bad experience.

Michael Russell Nurses were generally nice the few times I went to emergency room. Was seen by doctors assistant both times......didnt seem to really impress me with knowledge in dealing with patients. Dont know if I could recommend them or not......overall they just dont seem organized and seeming lack of direction overall

L If I had other options closer, I would have went there!! I get tired of going to this place having to explain myself over and over again. Id give it no stars ..but Ill give it the two stars, not for the doctor because he was kind of a jerk! but for PA Ed. Ed and the nurse that worked with him to help me were both awesome! They get my stars!! They believed me and they helped me as much as possible. Because the doctor on the other hand didnt believe anything I said. I heard him debating with them about how what I said didnt make sense.. and hes going to go this other route because its probably just chest pain. It was rude and disrespectful.. I appreciate Ed and his nurse going to bat for me and treating me with the needed medication and protocol to help me. I understand that some doctors are old school and by the book but sometimes you have to think outside the box!! Not every patient is a cookie cutter to what you think you learned 40 years ago, thats ridiculous! And when he discharged me after their shifts ended, my paperwork didnt even match why I was treated nor the treatment given to me. The misrepresentation on my discharge papers shouldnt be allowed!! So, again ..Im very grateful for Ed and the nurse who listened to me. I am grateful for the few that do positively stand out. This post is about appreciating and thanking them. Thank you PA Ed and your nurse. I would have been in trouble had you not been there for me.

Theresa Winchell The only star it deserves is the nurse that was there to help us. I agree, this place should be shut down. I took my husband to that hospital the other night. His had was bruised and swollen. We walked in, my husband sat down on the bed and a woman in blue smocks came in and looked at it and said it was from jamming it. I argued with her and she actually asked me if I had been drinking. I was furious. I took my husband to our family doctor and he said it was not from it getting jammed but a bug bite. His had is still purple by the way. It angers me that a medical person can come in and make a diagnosis before asking any questions and make assumptions that are incorrect. We pay hard earned money to have our medical needs taken care of in a good way. This was not a good experience. We will not go there again. I complained to the emergency room administrator and the nurse. They both apologized for that medical womans behavior but it still does not make it okay. I may still call administration/supervisiory and complain

ALYSSA UPDIKE This doesnt even deserve a 1 star. I called an ambulance around 11:50pm. They showed up took me up to the hospital. I tell them I am having excruciating pain. They didnt even give me pain reliever, but told me my diagnoses and sent me on my way. I was here maybe 30 minutes. What exactly are these doctors here for? This place needs to be shut down. No good ever comes out of here. If I would have went to another hospital they would have done more test and probably even an ultrasound because having abdominal pain as bad as I am having isnt right. Something will be done about the experience I had tonight.
