Nurcan Senkal This place always makes sure to work accordingly to your unique hair type. I wasn’t sure if extensions were going to work well with my hair, but they had answers to all of my questions and brought the image i had in my head to life. The products they use work so so good. Not only did i leave the salon with great hair, i left educated with specifics on my hair and how I should take care of it. The before and after is seamless!! It was great talking to John and everyone else at the salon. Overall, love this spot.

Yulia Ju The worst haircut I’ve got here. John is great with highlights, but not with haircut!! He just chopped my hair off, the cut was un-even in both the front and in the back on my head. When I came back all team was laughing of my hair cut and when I asked him what does he sees on my hair ..- he said nothing wrong!!! Will not come back to this place. Guys are unprofessional!!

Noa Grossman The first time i came here for a blow out, the gentleman who did my hair didn’t do it good and my hair was left puffy at the top. i decided to give them another shot since it’s my birthday and my sister recommended i call and make an appointment with john. So i called and made an appointment with john and was told to he was available at 12pm. When i got there they washed my hair and i sat and waited thinking i was waiting for john, but instead the gentleman who did my hair the first time started doing my hair. when i told them that i wanted john to do my hair, i was told by john “no he does it better then me” and “i have other people to do” as well as a towel getting thrown on the floor out of anger. so i sat and waited for john and when he eventually got to me (30 mins after my appointment) he was being extremely rude and told me to “get off my phone so i can finish this”. as i paid and said “thank you” i was completely ignored. i’ve never had such a horrible experience in any hair salon ever. this was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. if your planning on calling and making an appointment with john, be sure to triple check that HE will be doing your hair and that he’s actually available. i’m still not sure why i was told that he’s available when he “had other people to do”. if they simply told me when i was making an appointment that he wasn’t available then i would have went to a different salon.

Lia John is amazing! Took me in as a walk in, I was so lucky that he was available. I hard dark hair and he was able to lift it while keeping my hair healthy!! The salon was super clean and the vibe was great. The receptionist Carla is so sweet and helpful! This is officially my new spot and I’m all the way in Ozone Park, Queens. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my new hair! Thank you so much John and Carla! I will be back for my touch up for the summer!! :)

Happy Fruit I came here because its closer and i didnt have to travel to Manhattan to the one i used to go. The young girl who washed my hair wasnt professional and did a random job. She splashed water all over my face. It was uncomfortable. This guy, Tony, whos one of the owners, cut my hair. He didnt cut as what i requested and said it wont fit me. Another barber from Manhattan cut the way i requested, and i loved it. I was ok with Tonys way as long as its better. He trimed my front layer way too short when i told him not to. I wasnt able to tight it up nit even after 3 months later. He pulled my hair hard while cutting it. It hurts. I have a lot of hair, and he complained about it the whole time. I didnt have a great experience here. It was cheaper than where i used to go but it wasnt that cheap here.

Dominique Calero Amazing. They worked with me ... Process took 5 1/2 hours NEVER made me feel like an inconvenience or like they were annoyed with my constant hesitation and questions. Overall , perfect customer service. Manhattan quality work. Excellent professionalism, honest and hard working. I would recommend if you want high quality hair salon, styles and coloring at a decent price. I cut 7 inches off my hair and went from the darkest brown to an ash blonde in the picture below the lighting is not the best. But they way they did the bayalage it looks effortlessly.

Bassie Wajsbekier Came to get a wash and blow out and walked out with puffy hair that isn’t parted properly. The women who washed my hair was great , the guy that came to blow my hair didn’t know what he was doing . Didn’t section my hair just grabbed chunks kept trying to dry it then attempted to use a straightening iron on my hair while it was still wet , that’s when I got up paid him and left . I’ve never had such a terrible experience yet paid $35 for this service .

Alexandra C Always loved coming here in the past and continue to do so. New owners they are amazing. Colored my hair, cut, styled and AFFORDABLE!! Let them know exactly what you want. Gave my face frame, my hair body, and removed my dry / dead ends. Also did my mom’s hair amazing as well. Hair wash feels so good. Gave us a protein spray to use after washing hair. Thank you so much, 5 stars! PS. went through drive through for food and the workers at window complemented my hair. My daughter’s teachers everyone.

Gabrielle Lynch I came here in December to get my hair done for my birthday and overall was really disappointed in the experience. My appointment started late as the stylist I was booked with was still with a previous client. I waited over an hour with no updates or acknowledgment, and once I was taken into the back by an assistant to start my wash felt pressured into a steam treatment I didn’t plan to get. I had booked with Shawanda (the owner) for my trim, but didnt know she would in fact not be the one to do it and no one communicated that. Additionally, when it was time to blow dry, trim and straighten my hair the stylist still wasn’t finished and had suggested that the assistant start the process although the assistant whispered to her that her the owner said her straightening technique was “not up to the sew standard”. The suggestion was she start and the stylist would step in if anything went one. Eventually (and thankfully) the stylist finished her previous client and started my hair but she did not apologise or acknowledge how long I waited. That said the results were beautiful when I left although I did not leave the salon until 5:30 pm when my appointment originally was scheduled to be done around 1:30 pm. At checkout, they didn’t even have a record of my deposit and I had to dig through emails to prove it. My total was supposed to be $124, but I ended up paying over $200 with the added treatment and tip. Again my hair did look great, but a week later it smelled burnt and now I have heat damage in the back. My natural curls are significantly looser and have straight sections. This was the first time I’ve had my hair straightened in three years and I do not put heat on it regularly so can only assume this occurred during my appointment. I was recommended this salon by a friend who has had great experiences so I expected different. The wait time, lack of communication, and damage to my hair makes me feel like this experience was not worth it at all. I won’t be returning.

Kaia Naadira Let me start by saying the staff is amazing, great personalities from everyone. Super welcoming and felt like a safe space for the girls. However the actual hairstyle I got was frankly really bad. I came in for a last minute appointment and was grateful to be seen. Enjoyed myself and the talk with the women in the salon. But it took them two and a half hours to blow dry my 4c hair because they used a paddle brush and weren’t allowed to use a comb attachment apparently. My blowdry came out uneven and patchy which made the flat ironing I needed done after much harder to do and made the braid down painful. It then took another five hours to do a half up half down quick weave. I had a Christmas dinner and expected to leave the chair to make it since I came in at 3:30 but I left at 10:30 at night with a hairstyle that actually made me cry in the Uber because it was so far from what I asked for. By the end of my visit I was tired and just wanted to go home, I even asked to just leave and finish my hair at home but it was so half done I just had to wait while everyone figured it out. Like I said I’m really sad to leave this review and I would have charged it to the game until I finally just took down the style because it was bothering me that bad and saw how much my hair was really played in. I hope in the future they adjust to accommodate 4c clients or frankly just be honest about the capacity they had I definitely would have understood. All in all the only thing I really enjoyed was the customer service but the hair itself just wasn’t done well. I spent $270 to feel ugly.

Lily Ji Visiting the salon after researching the business for sometime seeing a lot of negative reviews but still giving it a try and I’m so happy I did. Shawanda was the best. She is personable and very much talented. She educated me on what I needed to do to get my hair as healthy as I wanted. Her question to me was “what are your hair goals?” No stylist I’ve ever met has ever asked me that question. I’m so happy with my hair. I received a sew basic install which was discounted for the day and time I booked a trim and hair steam. I have to say I was surprised about how quick I was done

Nicolette King My daughter and I recently visited this salon for extensions, and while the space is visually appealing, the service left much to be desired. Unfortunately, the stylists here seem inexperienced with traditional sew-ins and lace closure sew-ins. The stylist who worked on my daughter’s hair (she had copper hair) didn’t even know how to properly curl the hair. The braiding pattern was inconsistent, with two large braids in the back and smaller ones on the sides—it looked rushed and unprofessional, as you can see in the photos. As for my own experience, my lace was already lifting within 24 hours, and parts of my hair weren’t even sewn down completely, which is unacceptable. Despite these issues, I was not refunded for my incomplete service (a matter I’m currently disputing). Thankfully, my daughter did receive a refund. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place. The lack of skill and attention to detail makes it clear they are not equipped to deliver quality hair services.

Yuribel Vazquez I fell in love with this place. The vibe is nice, place is clean, prices are great. The staff is very welcoming, but special thanks to Mildred my hairstylist she is very knowledgeable in what she does, I followed her advice and my hair turned out so soft and so beautiful. Definitely recommend.

Francesca Small I was in and out! I have very long, very thick hair, and for a wash and set and curl I was charged $50! Great price, great service. They are a full service salon that does it all: hair, nails, etc

Cindy Orr I went there for mothers day weekend for a wash and set. I have natural loose curls. A few days after I wash my hair the scent was just like straight chemical. I had to wash my hair several times and still the scent took a long time to come out. My curls are damaged now and a lot of my hair is coming out after I wash it.They are putting stuff in ppl hair and changing the texture. Thats really horrible. Im never going back

Sharia Franklin The salon was nice, well equipped & the workers were nice however, I think its very ghetto that I had to stand in line for a shampoo. I also think its super ridiculous that they charged me $45 for a simple wash & set. I came all the way from S.I to try a new experience but NEVER again cause I couldve stayed where I was & paid $25. My hair is not rough or that long.

But I went about 2 1/2 hours before closing so I’m not sure my stylist really felt like doing my hair since I asked for a silk press with a flat iron and she told me they don’t do that, but the woman next to me was getting hers straightened with a flat iron…. I have 4c hair and they advertise that they style 4c hair, but the stylist told me the reason my blowout didn’t lay right was because of how thick my hair was, but obviously I know that’s not true because I get silk presses and blowouts all the time lol. Honestly I should’ve known better but the bottom line is: if you have 4c hair just go somewhere else. A great affordable option for my loose curl girls though!

Dom Virgin natural hair girlies *DO NOT Come HERE* my visit they insisted to add deep conditioning and I believe it has a perm in it. My scalp felt tingly and after the deep conditioning they parted my hair to the side so I couldnt see they cut the front of my hair. You know how hard it is for our hair to grow nicely and they cut the front and didnt say anything to me. I only came here for a wash and set nothing else. Not even a trim!!! I have attached photos so you can see the difference from the left to the right. My hair is also breaking easily after visiting the salon. Im assuming my hair is trying to get rid of the perm. Please dont waste your time! I came here after years of doing my hair myself and they cut off the front of my head and possibly permed hair without my consent!

Plush Magenta This salon was recommended to me by a friend, however my experience was not great. I had no idea that salons were allowed to put chemicals to change the texture of your hair without your knowledge. My hair has been natural for 15 years, I went into this salon with long healthy mid back 4a hair. My hair now has lots of breakage and the elasticity of my curls are gone. I do not write reviews, but I had to place this warning for others. I am deeply saddened by my experience as my hair is a big part of my brand. I have been growing and taking care of my own hair for years and just after one time at this salon, I have unwanted chemically treated hair that is breaking and shedding tremendously. I did not ask for any texturizer or chemicals, I asked for a wash and blow with a deep conditioner. If you all couldnt handle my natural fro as is. You could have turned me away. I will be seeking lawyer advice.

Keara I had a great experience here! I have type 4 hair and Romana did such a great job! I’m on day 5 and my hair is still straight. I’m not heat trained at all. I did wash, rollers, blow out and trim. I would go back! It was my first time doing rollers.

Jonathan B I visited Lotus for a simple, no-frills haircut—just a 1.5 on the sides and a light trim on top. Frank, the stylist (and owner), instead gave me an extremely short and uneven fade. I had to repeatedly point out areas that needed correction, but the results only got worse. Things escalated quickly. When I saw the haircut going south, I told Frank to stop and that I wouldnt be paying. At that point, he locked the front door, got in my face, and aggressively demanded payment. He even told me to take off my glasses—implying he wanted to fight. Not wanting to escalate the situation, I asked how much he was charging, and he demanded $40—despite my previous haircuts at this salon costing around $25. He refused to show me a price list and yelled that he could charge whatever he wanted because it was his store. Feeling trapped, I paid the $40 just to get out of there. Only then did he unlock the door. As I was leaving, I warned an approaching customer to stay away—Frank responded by cursing me out. I strongly urge anyone considering this salon to stay far away, especially from Frank. Not only is he a terrible stylist, but he is also unprofessional, aggressive, and dishonest. Avoid this place at all costs.

GJ GJ This is the ONLY salon I go to. I’ve been going here since 2016 and have never ever had a problem. Tommy is my hair stylist and I love him! He is super professional and always does an amazing job on my hair. The salon is beautiful and clean. The employees are always nice and respectful and I honestly can’t imagine going anywhere else. Thank you Tommy, Matilda and Lotus Salon!!!

Karina AlonsoTapia Frank is awesome! A little rough handed on the comb out but he understood the technique I requested without a doubt (Balayage) and got me to the right level of color based on my skin tone on the first try. Definitely recommend this place and will be going back for sure!

IB TECH SOLUTIONS LLC The salon is a con artist shop, they have one price over the phone and then charged my credit card for more than agreed upon for “various fees” and then demanded a tip from me which should be completely optional and to my own discretion. This place is disgusting and if I were you I would stay away and not come here.

Got a hair cut done by Frank, he did an amazing job, told him what I want and he did that exactly and gave some tips on what would look nice on me, and my hair turned out perfect, I loved it. My friend dye’s her hair there every time and it turns out amazing. He was very polite and nice. Recommend him to all my friends and family, 100% going back again.
