Vanessa Keesler My 82-year-old father arrived by ambulance due to chest pains and pain going down his left arm. Doctor Sharona Schneid gave him Tylenol and was going to discharge him without doing any type of tests. I had to demand medical care in an emergency room. I am now reading the visit notes, and she put we came in for “generalized body aches”. I don’t think anyone would spend money on an ambulance for “body aches”. She also entered false information about his physical check/appearance. Not sure how you can determine all of that information after three minutes. I tried to call for a patient advocate, but of course the number is not in service. If a senior citizen with chest pains is not a priority in an emergency room, then I am afraid for others. I will not be returning to this Hospital ever again, and do not recommend anyone else visit. Update 2.22.25- The director of customer service and patient experience sent me a letter with her findings of my complaint, Which are even more fabricated than the doctor’s visit notes. These employees are very dangerous to the health and safety of the citizens of Mount Vernon.

Lesley Charlene Robinson-Smiley Im actually still a patient in the hospital right now. Only problem I have is the food is to bland. So nasty. They definitely need a better cook. But the staff is amazing. Kerri Ann, kat, and the entire 4th floor ICU and the entire 5th floor staff is amazing. They definitely goes above and beyond for the patients. The doctors are amazing. Wonderful nurse staff. They talk with patients and explain everything in details. Attitudes are amazing. Definitely no complaints. Housekeeping is amazing. Transport is amazing. Basically the entire hospital staff is amazing. All Im saying is thank you for everything

Dannielle Hynez Came to this hospital with chest pain. Waited 5 hours to just be discharged. Doctór and nurse didn’t come to check on me not once. Didn’t offer me anything. Staff on duty was laughing at my situation and no bed side manner. Still with no understanding of what going on. Dr. Sengal K Alazar MD. lied on my discharge papers. All in all one of the worst experiences I’ve had with hospitals.

Jo-Anne D Had a great experience at Montefiore Mt Vernon’s ER. I passed out at a restaurant and brought there to be checked out. The nurses were very kind and professional. They asked many questions about what happened and how I was feeling. The doctor was excellent. The technicians were great and I didn’t wait long for anything to be done. Everyone took great care of me and I was thankful for their care.

Natalie Kriegler My husband was hospitalized twice, unfortunately, at this hospital. The people who work at this hospital in the mental health unit are so rude its beyond believable. I went there once to sign in on the unit and mentioned that there wasnt a pen available and the woman said to me, and I quote: "well youll just have to wait". My time is valuable as Not only was I coming there to visit him but I also have working hours and I could not believe this abject rudeness and unprofessional response. My husband was treated abysmally in this place. It was so obnoxious that I ended up having to employ the assistance of a friend of his who had a very prominent position in the New Rochelle community and one of his cousins who was a police officer from Florida to write letters to try to get him extricated from this Hospital. The head of the mental health unit complied finally after seeing those letters and told me that he would agree to have my husband transferred. He ended up being transferred to St Vincents Hospital in Harrison where he recovered in a few weeks. I am disgusted with the treatment that my husband received here + their rudeness and reverse racism. I took a picture only of my husband and 0 other patient once for his cousin and the man who was an aide who was in the room called Security on me. No one else was in the picture but my husband so I think that this policy and this treatment is and Im going to say this... "reverse racism". They were an all black staff other than a few MDs and the social worker and clearly they didnt like whites. I think they should be ashamed of themselves for their abject rudeness and poor treatment of both my husband and me as a visitor. If I could give a 0 star rating I definitely would.

Linda Saunders Went to medical center ER. Dr. Cataquet was horrible. Very condescending and asked me why I came to ER if I have a specialist. I said I can’t breathe and have a headache for two weeks. The Dr. Then said I have no pain meds to give u. I never asked for pain medication. I asked for u to find out what’s going on. Everyone that was of color he treated like sh…. But there was a Caucasian man that he treated like gold and even applied his splint himself. I complained to a few people about his behavior and I was told u are not the first to complain. It was another couple that left because of his attitude. I’m disappointed in this hospital and doctor.

Ridwan Meah This place has absolutely lost all quality since the passing of Dr. Reza Chowdhury. The new staff and doctors have no respect when speaking to patients. My mother put in an order for medication, which did not come in for 1 week at the local CVS. When it finally arrived, it was the completely wrong order. When we called to inquire on the issue, the staff and Dr. Nazma were very rude and unnecessarily defensive on this critical matter. Please avoid this clinic now if you can. It is not the same as before COVID.

Chicken Fry If I could I would give this place 0 stars. After Dr.Reza this new Dr.Shanaz Begum is so horrible I have never met anyone so bad and disrespectful. The doctor does not give proper checkups and does not care about her patients at all. She is so slow and irresponsible. There needs to be a new doctor at this location who actually cares.

Lauren H The staff was nice and quickly dealt with my pain. But left me in a hall way for over three hours. Then they wheeled a patient directly beside mine who likely has covid - coughing incessantly followed by incessant vomiting. In deciding whether or not to go to a hospital, I shouldnt have to choose between getting my pain treated and getting sick.

Saul Piazza Ive been to this ER a few times on different days & times of the week in the past years. The care is always the same. Professional, caring and compassionate. The ER is crowded, its the Bronx. Waiting is something we have no control over. Its also triage. The person requiring more immediate care will get care before others. Honorable mention to Gary Scott M.D. So glad hes there at Monte/Einstein. Gr8 doctor!!!

Tatiana Besshaposhnaia I want to express my deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses who took care of me. Thanks to the doctors for their professionalism, knowledge, and dedication. And a special thank you to the nurses Carmen, Maureene, Tanya and others - who carry warmth in their hearts and truly care for their patients. Your kindness and support made a difficult time a little easier, and I will always be grateful.

Elizabeth Castillo The worst. Do not go there. In there for 12 hours. Nurses are rude and doctors want you out immediately. You sit there for hours without anyone coming to you. The emergency room was packed like sardines. This place should be closed. Customer service terrible!!

S C I had my child on 12/20/24 and had the worse experience ever. I was left with a lump sided crooked c section scar. I see the follow up doctor tomorrow. After 3 weeks I’m still in dire pain. The hospital is a mess. I was left without any medication the first night and waited 7 hours to be seen by a nurse they, tend to disappear at night. I spent 3 horrible nights there and was having to walk around get my own ice and water and the nurses would tell me there was none. No one wanted to do their job. They would also give me my me medication when they wanted never on time, I had to remind them most of the time and try and find out where they were. The anesthesiologist was a nightmare. Maybe they were all students but I will find out and get some help. I was pocked at least 3 times with the needle for the epidural I’m not sure what he was trying to do but it hurt a lot. Then that night I had excruciating muscle spasm pain after the epidural wore off. I spent the first night in pain and no medication. I heard another mom was experiencing the same symptoms from one of the doctors. They never told me what caused it. I hope that they can somehow get it together for others to come. Giving birth and having a c section is a huge surgery. Us as moms are also trying to care for the children at the same time and it’s not easy. The least they can do is make it a pleasant experience for the moms who are already going through a lot. Most The staff was unkind and not sympathetic to the circumstances. Horrible horrible experience and now I’m left with this crooked incision and lump on my left side. I hope someone can help with a revision I know I will need. The most important thing for me is to bring awareness and if you are a new or returning mom please go somewhere else until these people get it together. I dealt mostly with the weekend staff. I hope this can help someone else not go through this! I’m not sure what happened to this hospital or use to be the best but those days are gone.

Aliyah Quiles My mother in law has stage 4 cancer and was treated so horrible. This place is so inhumane. The nurses are burnt out and take hours to provide care. My mother in law speaks Spanish and they never used translators to speak to her. She was not being cleaned properly and did not communicate to her what they doing in her native language. I feel she got worse just because of this environment. The medical social worker discharge her back home with out any equipment or an effective discharge plan.

kamatie kemraj I had the pleasure of having Dr. Edwin Pan as my OB/GYN for the delivery of my son on 12/24/24, and I couldnt be more grateful for his care and expertise. From the very first appointment, Dr. Pan and his team made me feel supported, listened to, and confident in my pregnancy journey. His professionalism, compassionate approach, and attention to detail truly set him apart. When it came time for delivery, I knew I was in the best hands. Dr. Pan was calm, reassuring, and efficient, making what could have been a stressful experience feel smooth and comfortable. His team was also outstanding, providing exceptional care and support every step of the way. I can’t recommend Dr. Edwin Pan highly enough. If youre looking for a knowledgeable, caring, and truly dedicated doctor, hes the one to trust. Thank you, Dr. Pan, for making the birth of my son such a positive and memorable experience!

Teresa Arzuaga Doctors are fabulous, however the support staff is the absolute the worst. I stopped going to them after 10 plus years because of the support staff and beyond ridiculous wait times for scheduled appointments. Fast forward 14 years and my daughter who they delivered 25 years ago is now a patient of theirs and it appears nothing has changed. When you call the phone rings and rings and rings and then they pick up and hang up. Then you have to call again and again until someone finally decides to answer you. If your lucky they will be pleasant. I am a call center manager for a large animal specialty hospital (100 plus doctors) and this type of client service is unacceptable. PLEASE do better by your patients! Treat your clients the way you wish to be treated. Being a busy practice is not an excuse to treat patients this way. Their time is valuable too Do better!

Asya Melnik This place is absolutely the worst, you have to wait months for an appointment and then you have to wait for hours in the waiting room, not sure why they even bother with the appointments. Manny Encarnacion I walked in a crying man and left out with a smile on me face! I recently had the privilege of being cared for by Ashley Lee RN, and I cannot express enough how exceptional her service was. From the moment I arrived, Ashley greeted me with a warm smile and a genuine sense of compassion. Her professionalism and expertise were evident as she guided me through my treatment, ensuring I felt comfortable and informed every step of the way. Ashley took the time to listen to my concerns and answered all my questions with patience and clarity. Her attention to detail and dedication to her patients truly set her apart. I felt safe and well-cared for under her watchful eye, and her positive attitude made a challenging experience much more manageable. It’s clear that Ashley is not just a skilled nurse but also a wonderful person who genuinely cares about her patients’ well-being. I wholeheartedly give her a 5-star rating and would recommend her without hesitation to anyone in need of medical care. Thank you, Ashley, for your outstanding service and compassion!

Jugu Faga This is the worse medical facility I have ever seen. The emergency room is full of static medical and non medical staff doing nothing to take care of the patients. No procedure about patient intake. I brought my son in at around 10 PM. And the triage took place at 12:47 AM. Still waiting to seen by a doctor. Very dirty place.

Christina E Went to the ER in an ambulance for trouble breathing and being extremely weak. Got to the ER around 4am, took a nose swab at 5a. Nurses and doctors in the ER are not attentive at all. I stood in the ER after being admitted at 7am for another 16 hours! After 16 hours they finally told me I was flu positive. It took almost 24 hours to tell me about my nose swab and I still had no room. On top of that, I thought I saved the best for last, I had to be taken to the bathroom in a wheelchair I was handed plastic gloves and Clorox wipes and was told “you may want to clean the toilet, ppl pee all over them”. I do not recommend anything about this horror place

T PEREZ On March 2nd 2020, I was told that I can bring my daughter in as a walk in Mondays- Fridays from 8am to 10:30am. On March 3rd 2020 I brought my daughter in as a walk in. I got there at 10am I was told that my daughter cannot be seen today. I said why not, the receptionist said to me, your daughter cannot be seen today. I said why, she said we do not accept walk ins. I said I called on March 2nd 2020, I was told that I can bring my daughter as a walk in. So she was not trying to hear me out. I said, can I speak to a supervisor. I explained to the supervisor that I called and emailed my daughters doctor and I also called the 1650 1650 Selwyn Avenue 3rd floor was told that my daughter can come in as a walk in, plus I wasted $20 on a taxi, the supervisor said unfortunately theres nothing I can do. I said there is something you can do my daughter needs to be seen this morning, I have to go to work this afternoon and today before 1pm is my only day and time to do this. I work and go to school the rest of the week. Theres nothing we can do said the supervisor. I am not coming back to this hospital for services for my child. The staff are unprofessional, give false information over the phone, give you a hard time to reschedule appointment, nasty, lazy do not want to help the patients and have you sitting there for a long time. This hospital forgot that the patients is the ones that pays their bills and give them a paycheck. I do not recommend this hospital.

Saniya T Bellamy Any and every time you have an appointment at this ghetto clinic you’re waiting way past your appointment time. They’re empathetic towards your time, and will constantly lie and tell you you’re next. The providers bedside manners are absurd, and requesting medication is like pulling teeth! That includes work orders/requisitions as well. The staff here is a disappointment to the Montefiore name. Overall it seems that Montefiore would rather their boost in numbers for patients rather than patient care being top tier. Nurses feel that patients waiting for hours is okay because they are “busy” or tired. You signed up for this job, DO your JOB

Irvin Solano They close the doors 15 minutes before the posted closing time. - I tried dropping off paper work and the security guard looks at me and wouldn’t even open the door to ask why I was there. Good staff, free parking lot with a couple of spots available at any given time. Definitely would not recommend parking during alternate side parking times, it can be hard to find parking on those days.

Vanessa Fernando This clinic has zero respect for their patients medical concerns. Attending physician Dr. Victoria Gorski is dismissive and condescending. They should definitely look over Patients Bill of Rights. At this clinic, you are not allowed to be upset if they drop the ball on your treatment/diagnosis. If you request adequate medical treatment and voice that verbally to them — they sound offended! How dare I question them on anything regarding my health! I am reporting both Tejada and Gorski to the department of health. Monti must have unlimited funds for lawsuits given the way they speak and treat their patients.

I would most definitely come back here again and I highly recommend the labor and delivery unit . Thank you St.Barnabas for your excellent service !!

Tiffany Derroches if you have a real medical emergency that needs immediate care DO NOT COME HERE!!! for the sake of your own life if you value it, please don’t come here. my biggest regret was coming here when i was experiencing a severe asthma attack/anaphylactic shock. i have never cried so much & the lack of urgency and communication and care in my life. the initial resident doctor who interviewed me to gather information was pleasant but literally everything she said they were going to do such as take covid rsv flu test and xray to check for pneumonia they didn’t do until i had to continuously ask. while i was sitting in this filthy deplorable emergency room (check photo) just absolutely disgusting filthy walls filthy bathroom just literally will make you sick sitting there. anyway, while i was sitting there i started to experience anaphylactic shock, i had came in through EMS and had administered my own epipen in my house but by this time it was wearing off. i know my body well enough to know when im about to go into shock. i tell my nurse i need another epipen and by pass machine. she says wait let me give you nebulizer treatment and get your doctor. i already know that time is of the essence. my throat is literally closing up and I CANNOT BREATHE. the doctor comes and says oh let’s just see if the nebulizer works give it one or two minutes. i’m trying my best not to panic because that only causes you lose more breathe but i’m trying to explain to them the machine isn’t working my throat is closing by the second PLEASE HELP. now the doctor is looking for a bed, i didn’t need a bed i needed an epipen ASAP. i kept saying epipen epipen. she then tries with another asian doctor to set up the by pass machine and i’ve never seen two doctors not know how to set up the machine and load it up to work im still sitting there gasping for air and they’re two doctors struggling to get the machine one and working like i literally felt like this is it. my life is over with. by the time i got on the by pass machine it barely was working and they finally stabbed me with the epipen. when i finally did get some what stabilized the next day i asked to speak to a doctor she was literally sitting in front of me and said she was going to come and she never did until she was giving her report to the next shift to introduce the new doctor. there are a few decent nurses here but aside from that it’s horrible. the entire time i had no clue what was going on with me. i had beg and wait for hours for results for a test to the point i had to ask someone who wasn’t a nurse or doctor to look up my chart and tell me. i was told on saturday i was being admitted to ICU it is Monday and im still in an over crowded ER. no food , have to beg for whatever, everyone on top of each other. again emphasis on how filthy and deplorable this place is just dirt every single place you turn. i didn’t yell i didn’t nag i didn’t act belligerent the entire time i was here. i spoke softly i waited patiently ; they probably wouldn’t expect this type of review from me because i didn’t even complain once. but the way i want this place shut down and inspected is real. disgusting staff disgusting everything! JUST PLEASE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LIFE AND HAVE A REAL MEDICAL EMERGENCY DO NOT COME HERE!

Clara Bryant The absolute worst hospital ever! I’m not understanding why the just allow anyone in there to “work”. The staff is rude as can be. The air quality is awful! No privacy… I knew the lady next to me needed some drug to sleep. I was in the ER with no separation meanwhile the person literally next to me coughing and regurgitating and hollering… they had no linen… the “beds” are made for short people. I’m 5”3 and my feet were dangling off the bed. Mind you I was having leg pains. I am on blood thinners and asked for crackers and they didn’t have anything to put on my stomach to take my pills but wanted to give me Tylenol after I told them I had nothing to eat. I’m not sure why HPD is not in there giving violations with all that peeling paint on the walls. It’s dirty and hot. The staff working around there coughing, they talk too much to each other! They even lied on my paperwork and said they took my temp and did not. They did not do anything about my concerns or my reason being there. Oh and dead roaches were in the lights! Like really I only gave them one star because I was able to leave alive. They deserve no stars and whomever governs this facility needs to be fired immediately! I highly do not recommend. Go there at your own risk but you have been warned. I wouldn’t take a rat off the street there for help. Even they deserve better. Revamp or close down. Our neighborhood deserves BETTER!

Anna Barcene This place deserves zero stars. Unethical and Unempathetic Care This hospital operates in a completely unethical, unempathetic, and dismissive manner toward patients and their families. My sister was brought here by EMS after a fall, classified as a trauma case. She spent an entire week in the hospital, yet I was never contacted or given the opportunity to speak to a doctor about her condition. After running numerous tests, they discharged her without providing any results or explanations, sending her home via EMS. Four days later, my sister had to return to the hospital because she felt faint and was in pain. Instead of addressing the reason for her visit, the staff seemed more focused on her mental health history, treating her like a specimen rather than a person. The doctors decided to discharge her at 2 PM, again with no clear explanations. When a family member arrived to pick her up at 6 PM, my sister fainted while changing clothes in the bathroom. Only then did they decide not to discharge her. Throughout this ordeal, I tried to remain patient and requested to speak with a doctor multiple times. While waiting in the waiting area, I was told the doctors had switched rotations, and I’d have to wait another hour. The front desk staff were rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. This hospital’s lack of communication, professionalism, and compassion is appalling. Patients and their families deserve much better. Sent from my iPhone

Lavender Purple Im giving 5 stars for unexpected reasons. This doctor is bad but I kept her as my doctor for certain reasons. Firstly, I dont trust male doctors. I hate them. So Im glad that this doctor is a female. Secondly, this medical practice doesnt aggressively force people to get vaccines and stuff like that. I hate doctors that aggressively pressure their patients to get vaccines that are not mandatory. So Im glad that this practice doesnt pressure their patients. So far I havent encountered any problems with this doctor. But thats because she barely talks to me and she sees me for only like a few minutes and the assistants do everything else. I dont want a "professional and nice" doctor because they are usually the ones that pressure their patients to get vaccines and stuff like that.

ashiqur rahman I took my wife for regular dental cleaning and she had the worst experience. The dentist was unprofessional who didn’t even introduce himself to my wife before beginning the procedure. The dentist didn’t care about the suffering of my wife while cleaning and after cleaning, my wife had severe pain on her teeth that lasted a few days. This certainly ain’t normal after cleaning. Please don’t see a dentist here.

Alameen Miah Very unprofessional rude staff. The staff nurses may not be certified nurses but they perform a lot of duties like taking blood. Appointments must be made weeks in advance, and even if you have an appointment it takes hours to see her; it seems they want to make sure they dont lose any money so they always overbook. They also never follow-up, so you have to waste time calling back and if youre lucky get someone to check on your results. I recommend you find a doctor that cares about her patients. Obviously they do not!

sumaiya begum I have a two star only because the assistants there are very helpful and they ar every respectful but the doctor she is another story. Every time I have gone in to see her, she doesn’t greet me or other members of my family. She walks into the room sees our chart and walks right out of the room and comes in later and just asks what is our problem. She is very unprofessional. The wait time is now bad. I saw her within an hour of my time sitting there. It’s just I don’t like the doctor. The assistants at every helpful. Besides that I am changing my pcp to someone who actually cares for their patients.

Haydee Salgado February 18, 2024 If I could give it 0 stars I would. Ive been in a bed for three hours with kidney stone pain and I have yet to receive pain medication. No one has collected my urine. Ive gotten no fluid IV. I have not had blood drawn and no cat scan. The list goes on. This hospital is terrible to say the least. Irma Salgado

Eridania Garcia The worst hospital, not only in the Bronx, but in the entire United State. They ignore patients, they do not care about patients. Very poor service. These are not professionals. I would rather say that they should resign from their services. An urgent call must be made to the director here, and as for cleanliness, the worst.

Nova Santiago Doctors walk around more than actually working & checking up on patients. My aunt waited 4 hours to see a doctor for a few seconds then waited another 4 hours to get pain medication. I don’t recommend this hospital especially if you have any abdominal pains or any other pain.

Shawnae I have NEVER been to a hospital like this in my life. I witnessed a woman take her own IV out just to leave. I had to ask 3 times to get my discharge papers. After the first time they let my husband come and sit with me. Which is crazy because we are having a baby together, that should be automatic. After the second time I had been seen. Doctor Harrison really listened and took an ultrasound for my baby. I would STRONGLY advise not to come to this hospital. I would say Doctor Harrison is amazing. If you complain to him he will do all that he can to help you and get you what you need. The nurses however, are short tempered and dont care. My husband wrote: P.S. I would rather die at home than at this E.R.
