Jordan I was checked in the emergency department and greeted warmly & quickly which i couldn’t complain. All the issues started after when seeing the doctor. The doctor came in with a stiff attitude. I had my Son who’s a toddler but was in the emergency room for my daughter. She proceeded to make passive aggressive comments such as “you need to watch out for this one” referring to my son & when asked about my age she looked me up and down & goes “oh a baby” then shuts the door. I had a friend who was in even more disbelief about that comment than me. I’m a young mom i’m not new to getting prejudged about 2 kids at my age but this was just highly unprofessional. It was getting a bit late for my son as it was approaching his bedtime so he started misbehaving so i just wanted to leave. My daughter did not need to be hooked up to anything, no medications were administered, no further care besides waiting it out so i figured why can’t we just wait it out at home at this point. If i didn’t have my toddler i would have stayed the whole night but to me it just wasn’t worth it since we could’ve just done what we were doing in the hospital room at the comfort of our home. I went to the nursing station to find the doctor since she would have to be the one to discharge us & her stiff attitude came again along with a nurse named Jamie. When speaking to the doctor Jamie was looking at me like i had 5 heads then proceeded to insert herself in the conversation saying “you can’t just leave” & then when i lost it. I’m no stranger to mistreatment at medical settings which is unfortunate considering i came to seek care for my daughter not to get a judge & a jury. The cherry on top was this paper being in my discharge papers!

Wendell Dauch I was in the ER due to severe pain in my upper back that I was feeling in my chest to my right neck and shoulder, my blood pressure was shown high due to not able to sleep and the sharp pains. I was told and received a EKG and was told to just sit in the waiting area until seen in the er, I arrived around 1: 39 pm and waited for almost 7 hours. With my medical issues of having a stroke and hospitalized 6 times in 2024 I was made to wait and wait while others waiting to be seen were coughing and leaving their used tissues on the floor of the waiting area. While more people showed up and were taken into the ER. My problem is that someone came out saying they were the Manager of the ER and actually was yelling at me and everyone else patiently waiting; saying I have a total of 101 people in the ER with 31 patients waiting for a bed and those of us waiting to be seen. I was shocked to hear and see an employee from the hospital treat those of us needing to be seen and the lack of not caring about it. Understanding the need of waiting is needed but to be treated like we are a nobody is totally unacceptable in this type of situation. Mind you, I understand that the hospital gets busy at times and have always been patient for my turn like always. I appreciate the doctors and nurses at the hospital! But, the hospital needs to be understanding the needs of everyone also. Not treat people like a nobody. I ended up leaving due to all of this happening. The ER needs better management. Garnet is better than this. My opinion and my right to be posting about this situation. Thanks.

Nairoby Garcia Horrible attention. Had to wait more than 10 hours to been seen. I had to see an old lady who came in with the ambulance, and left in the waiting room when she said she had a chest pain and she asked for help to call her husband to bring her to the hospital and the person in front desk just told her how to do it. She wasn’t able to call her husband and yell for help and asked if any one could lend her a phone to call her husband, the security guy help her to call her husband she asked her husband to come in to pick her up and bring her to Catskills hospital, and also she mentioned to her husband that she doesn’t care if he hadn’t a driver license just come before she gets worse. How this hospital got to this point? My husband wait many hours when hospital was empty and never seen a doctor. Old hospital administration was wait better. If you have to go to this hospital just know that you will have to be waiting for long hours… so, just in case look for a hospital around that has a better attention.

Dawn Malfatone My son was in a motorcycle accident. Emergency room was great. Trama Dr. Was great. But on the 4th floor. In room 4103. The care was horrible. He would push the bottom for service and was frequently not responded to for a generous 45 min. To an hour. He has multiple injuries including a broken jaw , so obviously wired. Being on a liquid diet he drank a lot of water. Had to have ice for his swelling . Every time we went to visit. We had to go request water and ice bags as well. Never had water when we got there . Says he had been pushing button for at least an hour , with no response . Ice bags were completely melted and warm. Upon his discharge day. He had a big piece of gauze in his mouth , we asked the nurse if it should be removed. She told me she would contact Dr. To find out. Well , she came to his room and said Dr. Said to leave it in. She was a liar. I cant remember her name . But she was a tiny built Chinese lady. I spoke to Dr. And he said. Nobody contacted him about it and it should have been removed. For the amount of money they are paid on a daily basis. Patients should absolutely not be treated worse , than a stray dog in the street. It was a horrible experience for a hospital.

Mary T We experienced exceptional care and service that truly stood out. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a smooth check-in process. The nursing team was attentive and compassionate, always willing to answer questions and address any concerns. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, creating a comfortable environment for recovery. Additionally, the medical team provided thorough explanations of treatment plans, making us feel informed and involved in the care process. Overall, our stay was marked by exemplary service and support, making a challenging time much easier to navigate. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and kindness of the entire hospital staff. Thank you.

Sally Nelson Daughter taken in with severe stomach pains and uncontrollable vomiting. Treated promptly, but left very drowsy with the after-effects of the medication. Now theyve turfed her out of the ER and made her wait in the waiting room, where shes now asleep on the floor. I wouldnt treat a dog this way. Ive made repeated attempts to get an Uber back to where were staying in Phoenicia, but none are available. Cannot wait to leave. If this is their idea of compassionate patient care, then I must beg to differ. Disgusting.

Angela Hawsey Miss Bridget from Dr. Sharons office is the most unprofessional and rude individual Ive ever incountered. I had a knee surgery 2 days before my first visit and when i was called to confirm, i said i wasnt sure if i would be able to make it, i would have to call back tomorrow and let them know. The next day, i got word that they canceled my appointment and gave it to someone else. When speaking to her, she cut me off, talked over me, and told me I was unprofessional. Im sorry, i said, but im not running a business, i dont have to be professional im a patient and she responds with actually you are not a patient until your first visit! DO NOT COME HERE EVER!!!!

Nastazia I was referred to this location for social work by my primary care Dr & I initially had an appointment for today 6/25 and I had found out on 6/25 that they rescheduled my appointment for yesterday 6/24 & cancelled my appointment without notifying me and making me aware of any changes to my appointment. They had to had changed it yesterday on 6/24 because I checked frequently to view messages and results on MyChart & there wasn’t any changes to the appointment until last min. I did call to try to make them aware of it but I can’t even get through to anyone on the phone, it automatically disconnects.. I never even been to this location before so it’s already off to a bad start.

Simone Dasent The front desk clerks on the 3rd floor are rude and display no professionalism whatsoever. Today my appointment was cancelled unbeknowns to me, I received no email, no text message and there was no indication of the cancellation in my chart. Instead of them apologising, which we do all the time when mistakes arise - I work in a hospital, they proceeded to ask me for my insurance card, which they already had a copy of; ok so I give it to her. Then she says you have to speak to finance - mind you without the possibility of seeing a doctor today; I said why do I have to speak to finance? She because your insurance is combined. I said you know actually let me speak with finance, as you do not understand it. Right away she says oh you have that plan and all of a sudden, I did not have to speak with finance. Anyway, I spoke with the manager, who got me another appointment at an earlier date. Lets see what happens then. I am so annoyed.

Kv Brown I had a visit with pediatrician Dr.Roye today 11/19/2022 and the visit was ok but the nurse was on her phone from the mommy I got there until I leave and her voice wasn’t in hush tome. My daughter was extremely scared of getting her shot so she took her Small stuff toy with her and the nurse was obviously annoyed that she had it. The entire time we we’re in the office she was on her phone chatting away. She was very stern and show no empathy to my daughter who was very scared. My daughter told her she was scared and she showed no concern or tried to allay her anxiety. I’m a nurse and I would never be this way to one of my patients especially a scared kid. When she was finished giving her the shot, she said nothing she was still engaging the person on the other side of the phone conversation. I asked if that was it she nodded her head without even turning around. This nurse has long lock hair. Very unprofessional. I hope when I go back I will have an option but if I have to see her on my next visit,I will definitely change pediatricians. The other nurses I met before was great as well as the PCT. I hope someone see this amd rectify the situation.

Anna Chronic I go to Cumberland Diagnostics because of the convenience of having all my care in one place. Sadly, you need to practically take the day off just for one doctors visit. Staff is L A Z Y as can be. It looks as though they do not want to work. You have to wait a minimum of 1 hour before being called... super disorganized. As for the care, some doctors are worth the wait and others not. The ophthalmologist for example is a waste of time. You have to book 3 months in advance for a 10 minute appointment where you learn nothing. The radiology unit is a complete waste. The sonogram tech is a very rough woman who is rude rude rude. She told me results that were not even true. I almost filed a complaint about her because it was not her duty to tell me such negative results in such a nasty manner. Anyway, not a nice place and I dont know how they survive because there are hardly any patients. They should renew the staff and make this place more efficient!!!

Junior Warburton This is not the place to go to if you want any care. I have been verbally abused and taken advantage of because I was in pain and upset. One of the doctors here refused to treat my brother for a serious blood infection, told him he had chlamydia and scolded him on his lifestyle. He did not have chlamydia. I went here last week for an x-ray and the x-ray technician kept repeating the same question to me over and over again no matter how many different ways that I answered it, keep in mind my ankle was swollen just colored and gross. And he kept asking me “where is the pain?” I told him Look at my ankle. He kept his back to me the whole time and became verbally abusive when I called him out on him trying to gaslight me. None of the staff would take my side. Do not go to this place unless you want to be abused

Jessica Lynn I don’t normally bother to write reviews but I had such a positive experience at this urgent care, I wanted to share it. Everyone went out of their way to accommodate me from the moment I walked in the door. My insurance can be difficult to navigate but the nice lady at reception went the extra mile to figure it out for me. She was kind, friendly and helpful. The gentleman who did my intake was warm, sympathetic and completely professional. We chatted pleasantly but more importantly, I felt he took my health concerns seriously. I had a couple of things going on and he listened to everything I said, asking questions about the details to make sure the clinician who would be seeing me would have all the pertinent information. After being shown to my room, where I only waited briefly, a lovely practitioner showed up. She went over my concerns and addressed each one. I was given the health tests I needed and a professional exam and assessment. She was nice, attentive and methodical and I didn’t feel at all rushed. The whole experience only took an hour. The facility was very clean and the entire staff was professional, kind and excellent. I would highly recommend this urgent care to anyone.

Emily Rose My significant other has been ill with flu-like symptoms for 4 days. I urged him to go to UrgentCare for stronger medication as his fever is not breaking with Tylenol. Michelyn Myers PA coerced him to not receive a flu-test and presumed it was the flu. She directed him to pick up a handful of OTC medications and sent him on his way, after he had vomited in the exam room. Not giving flu/COVID tests for symptomatic patients alters local flu statistics - malpractice. It is also noted in his paperwork that he has been ill for 2 days, not 4 - false documentation - malpractice. He was not treated AT ALL. Waited for 2 hours and was seen for less than 15 minutes. She stated his symptoms would resolve in "2-3 weeks." Wouldnt be so if he was given proper attention and medication. I contacted UrgentCare for direction to a manager or HR, the first number was internal HR for employees, the second number given was for Public Relations, but they are closed after 4:30pm and not available on the weekends. I am appalled with his treatment, or lack thereof, and will be taking further action as his symptoms have gotten worse since him being there this afternoon.

Suzannah Kratz The name of this place is a misnomer and actually dangerous. It should be called/described as a Dr.s office for same day and somewhat after hour visits. We called ahead to the main urgent care number yesterday (who looked at the Coxsackie office schedule) to ask about getting stitches there or at ER. We’re told it was ok to come in there because they were not very busy and my husband could be seen much more quickly there than at the ER. My husband had cut himself and it looked bad but unsure how bad. So we flew over there. My daughters had packed the cut and did a sort of tourniquet with towels and duct tape on it so not currently visibly bleeding, but he/they had blood all over them and they were trying to keep his arm above his head to help keep bleeding at bay. It looked bad - as in it was visibly disturbing to see them. After the woman at the front desk (who was friendly and apologetic) had called the staff in the back she said all they could do was offer an appointment at 4:00 - 3 hours later! I get being short staffed, but even the 2 other people in the waiting room were shaking their head. No other options provided. Not even a Dr or nurse who would come out to quickly assess the situation and determine the need for or to call an ambulance for us. I was panicked asking what we should do. Again told that he could be seen in 3 hours. Needless to say I made the decision to jump in the car and drive into Albany to the ER. It turns out he had severed the artery in his arm and required 4 tourniquets and then surgery. I’m not saying that they could have treated this (and if I had been able to see the wound I would have called 911 first) but any level of care or concern AT ALL, any guidance for 4 scared people asking for help, would have at least been calming. Saying you are urgent care (and we needed urgent care - if even to help transfer us on) is literally dangerous - if you are only making scheduled appointments that should be clearly noted all over the place. We wasted time driving there because we were told they could help. Again, understandable if the case was beyond their capability, but to not even assist in the slightest - again if even to just take a quick look at him and call an ambulance for us - was entirely reckless on their part. If you have any question as to whether they can treat you for a possible serious condition, my recommendation would be to head to the ER 100%.

Darcy Wood This office is great. I love Teal . But Robin the nurse is horrible. Always so rude. Exhibits destain and rude behavior. Just over all unprofessional and snotty. Shes in the wrong business. Normally I have no complaints except for having to deal with her. Normally I can tolerate her, but today I was in excruciating pain and she just made it worse with her Kurt responses and sarcastic questions. Its no way to be treated when you really need help and are there for treatment to be treated in this way is reprehensible.

Lily Briggs Absolutely horrible, the worst attitude I’ve ever experienced. During a call I was hung up on and just had to sit there and cry. Also what doctors office makes you reschedule 3 months out FOR AN EMERGENCY CHECKUP when you called to say you were going to be 10 mins late due to those said health issues… I called again too and received the same treatment. I’ve now been waiting a year to get into this doctor’s and at this point I’m just going to go somewhere else because my body is starting to give up and I want to be able to live an actual life. So yeah definitely don’t recommend this office to anyone

Chris Phillips By far the WORST practice ever been to. Aside from over a 45 minute to 1 hour just to get in. Always backed up on patients, never get to get in get seen and get out. Felt like a test gerbil with the amount of different medications I was put on. Also the rude receptionist no name put on here but very rude as well this office likes to Break HIPPA and give out patient information to others who are not my doctors or family. Soon after i was dropped as a patient without any notice or referral all this and they claim to help. Go elsewhere ! Worst practice ever

Brent Da I called this office to try for a sooner appointment as I heard my husband with MS, state he fell and hit his head in the bathroom. The neurologist cant get him in until February. Cindy, the most unpleasant and unprofessional person I think Ive ever talked to couldnt get him in before next Thursday. With an enormous attitude and raised voice Cindy tried to school me with some nonsense of what he actually called for, 1st of all blahhhh bla bah. I was sitting right next to him. I know what he said. I said I didnt appreciate the attitude as she was so rude, she accused me of having the attitude. Anyone that knows me will testify, I am very pleasant on the phone. I work in customer service. Phone etiquette is everything. She then covered the phone, insulted me to the other office worker and I was disconnected. Dr. Johnson is wonderful, but Im not sure having to go through this individual is worth it.

Danielle Smith Doesn’t matter when you make an appointment you won’t be seen for well over an hour! I purposely made an early appt so I wouldn’t be here for hours… does the doctor not know what time her practice opens because shes behind EVERY day. People take off work / can’t spend hours in a doctors appt when they aren’t even sick and it’s just a check up. Looking for a new doctor. stay clear from here unless you want to waste your whole day in a waiting room

Mandii Marano Update: The head doctor of this clinic contacted me before the end of business day. I was very impressed by his quick response and concern. He stated that even though the policy does exist that visitors are not allowed there are situations for reasonable exceptions. He acknowledged that my history as the veteran’s caretaker and the fact that we live in the same house allow for such an exception. I was told he spoke to the nurses and he rescheduled the appointment. At this point I will only pursue the complaint against the rude nurse. I am pleased with his response. Original review: I am a caregiver for a veteran who goes to this clinic. They have at times been kind and understanding but after todays interaction I will seek care for my veteran elsewhere. I am also filling a complaint in every available way. Due to what they said were their standard covid rules they would not allow me, his Healthcare proxy, to attend his appointment even after he expressed concern, became visibly upset, and stated he needed me to understand what strangers say to him. They became hostile and rude when I requested they grant this reasonable exception. Seeing as I have attended every single one of his appointments since the pandemic began I find this sudden change unnecessary and detrimental to the mental health of veterans. A certain nurse was especially rude and condescending, suggesting that only a veteran declared incompetent had a right to assistance in the doctors office. I will stand by my veteran and not allow him to be bullied into Healthcare that makes him uncomfortable. My question is will the NYS VA stand by the veterans?

Emily Carroll The PA (older gentleman, white hair) misdiagnosed my 4 year and I. We came in with terrible coughs. We came because my preschool asked us to get Covid tests and checked for walking pneumonia. The nurse was helpful and the PA laughed us out of the room. We had fevers for 3 days after our visit. I came back when I got my strength back and the same PA gave me an X-ray and found pneumonia in my right lung. He then gave me an antibiotic that doesnt treat pneumonia and an inhaler without a steroid . He told me to go to a hospital if this treatment didnt work. 7 days later I was in the hospital and told my treatment was never going to help. The antibiotics and inhaler were not adequate to treat walking pneumonia. In the end I understand mistakes but not prescribing the appropriate treatment is harmful. We spent many sleepless nights and hours in the hospital due to poor knowledge of proper antibiotics for pneumonia.

Emily Iason I was wondering why the physicians assistant told me to go to a dermatologist to get a lymph node biopsy as that has nothing to do with the skin... seemed odd. He told me that’s who you go to for a biopsy and recommended Hudson Dermatology. It seems very obvious that the lymph node is not within a dermatologist’s purview but for some reason this guy didn’t know that. I went and she said “I have no idea why they would tell you to come here that has nothing to do with the skin.” I said right, I figured. Paid for two pointless visits. Back to square one.

Eva Pepe I was here twice in August and have found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly, and they communicated clearly regarding my concerns. The wait time for my first visit was at least an hour, but since I didnt have a life-threatening emergency, I understood that long wait times are to be expected in this area due to staff shortages. My second visit was much more urgent and a doctor saw me almost immediately. He told me to go straight to Albany Medical Center and get a CT scan, which I did, and I was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and needed immediate surgery. Im grateful to this urgent care facility for their compassionate and professional care.

Hagadone Andrew (Crazy cat guy) I have to get frequent blood tests for kidney failure, and this place lets your just walk in and give them your doctors request form like a prescription at a pharmacy. No appointment needed, no headache, just gotta wait a bit. 20min tops.

V.A. Contacting them by phone is extremely difficult. I understand if theyre busy, but at least answer and place us on hold. Instead, the phone rings so many times before simply disconnecting.

Richard Hallenbeck I go to this lab for blood work. The Phlebotomist (Leanne), is superb. Friendly, quick and painless. I try not to go anywhere else.

Ken Johnson Brought my son in with 2 broken wrists (snowboarding). The admission was super fast, and we met with a really nice PA. Quick X rays, very quick getting us into a room. Great, caring nurses, then a really down-to-earth doc. Everything was well-coordinated, and I was very impressed by the level of care.

K. Elise I’ve finally found the strength to share my experience, though it’s incredibly painful. My daughter died due to medical negligence at this ER. I went in a few days before my due date, experiencing unusual symptoms—loss of feeling in my arms, blurred and spotty vision, and a severe, debilitating headache. I was given medication that caused me to seize, and despite being there for nearly 10 hours, only 30 minutes was spent checking on my baby. Shortly after, my daughter died in labor from what was deemed ‘unknown causes,’ but she was in distress. I’m convinced that the inadequate care I received contributed to her fetal distress. I voiced my concerns, but I was met with dismissive and inadequate care. 1) A female attending physician, who wasn’t even sure if the medication she prescribed was safe during pregnancy, repeatedly attempted to insert an IV, stabbing me three times. 2) No one took the time to listen to my concerns or provide reassurance. I was told it was a ‘busy day at the hospital,’ but that didn’t excuse the lack of attention I received. They ran only one NST on my daughter and dismissed any further concerns, assuring me she was fine. But she wasn’t fine. The negligence I experienced has left me with unimaginable grief. I’ll never get my daughter back, and the emotional toll of this loss is something I’ll carry for the rest of my life.

Kimmie Combs We sat there for 9 hours watched a man have a full blown seizure and hit his face off the wall and bleed every where when he could of been seen within the 6 hours he sat there they take you to a test and put you back in the waiting room. Ppl laying on the floor vomiting. Complete joke. Ppl sitting for 10 hours not seeing anyone completely wrong

Sumayaa Mohammed The care and support our grandfather received at Ellis Hospital have been nothing short of extraordinary. For over three weeks, he has been in their care, and throughout this entire time, the staff has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure his comfort and well-being. They never gave up on him, even during the most challenging moments, always striving to keep him healthy and at ease. From the very beginning, the team at Ellis Hospital treated our family with compassion, respect, and kindness. Every member of the staff, from the doctors to the nurses, has been incredibly attentive, offering not only excellent medical care but also emotional support for our family during this difficult time. They truly made us feel like we were not just patients, but people they genuinely cared for. Our gratitude for their efforts cannot be expressed enough. The level of care and dedication shown to our grandfather and to us as a family was nothing short of exceptional. We will forever be thankful for the comfort, professionalism, and kindness they provided during this journey. The team at Ellis Hospital truly made a difference, and we will always remember their unwavering commitment to our loved one’s care.

christopher walker I just had an abdominal aorta repair. Everything went good. Recovery room was good and I spent 2 days in ICU. The nurses there are 5 star all the way. The meals were very good. Stuffed chicken breast, meat loaf, good veggies, they feed you well. Very easy admission and discharge. Thank you so much!

Stacey Pedersen I want to give a shout out to Moe in the ER. My mother was admitted after a fall and he was very attentive and sweet to her. The day nurses on the floor have also been very kind with a sometimes grumpy patient. My overall experience with Ellis is a mix. My mother has dementia and can not really assist in her own health care. I feel that Ellis needs to have a way for regular communication with family members as I cannot be there all day every day waiting for someone to visit her to get updates and ask questions. After I requested it, the day doctor did call me with an update which was greatly appreciated.

Patricia Margas My husband spent 11 days in Ellis. His care was excellent for the most part. The cardiac care unit was exceptional. And if you are ever unfortunate enough to end up in the pulmonary care unit (which also provided my husband very good care), there is a nurse there named Mianna who is a ray of sunshine. She was unfailingly helpful and stopped into his room several times a day just to see how he was doing.

Arun Modasra I was recently rushed to Ellis Medicine. The process was seamless and smooth! Need I say more. The ER Physicians, ER Nurses and most important the support services are stellar! My condition admitted me into ICU. The ICU Physicians, ICU Nurses and most important the support services are stellar again! I cannot express my gratitude in words but glad they saved my life. I want to call out the nursing staff in the ER and ICU for their compassion. They made me and my family feel very comfortable to a point where everyone is so busy that our lives did not change. Here are my blessings to Ellis Medicine to the front line and their families.
