Maund Anthony (Tony) If it were possible, I would not even give this place one star. I went in with confusion, high blood pressure, and couldnt even tell them where I was, but they let me leave and drive home. Thankfully I had someone driving me home in my car. Im still suffering. Theyre was something weird on my EKG which the Dr never stood to explain what it meant. They accused me of drug seeking as they were reading my negative toxic screen and had records of almost 5 years with clean toxes. This ER could kill you by the lack of medical treatment and they dont even care about the people they are treating. I waited weeks to make this review so I could better explain how they almost let me die then sent me home. This is not a good hospital and far from a safe space. I literally will never reach out to another medical facility again, even if I die as a result. Im still sick and cannot eat. This was the major issue I had brought up. Its been almost a month and I am only consuming meal shakes. I was in mental health distress and am still there. Id rather die than ever go back to any Buffalo hospital, Mercy Hospital is next up because they let me also drive home without me even knowing where I was at. NO ONE WITH HALF A BRAIN GOES TO THE HOSPITAL TO DRUG SEEK, THEY DONT HAVE ANYTHING NEAR AS STRING AS I CAN FIND ON THE STREETS, I NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION, NOT TO BE TREATED POORLY.

Catherine Breen My husband waited for 8.5 hours after being told by his doctor to go to ECMC and wait it out. I called the staff (because no one was at the desk and talked to Kaitlyn, his PA called the ER several time explaining the situation and after 8.5 hours, he wasnt triaged so we left to go to Mercy. There were people, listening to their devices with volume turned up. Some were walking in stocking feet, pants around their ankles, talking to themselves and arguing on the phone. Two security guards were spread out in easy chairs, not moving and no one was at the desk. It was like an unsupervised asylum. Disgusting.

Seth Edwards Waited 5 hours to be scene at the emergency room, eventually left and went to another hospital. Staff was cold and uncaring. At least telll me that what th3 expected wait time is so I can make decision if seeking help somewhere else is my best option.

D T Brought my son in for a foot injury at 4pm on a Saturday. They immediately did an X-ray which seemed promising. But it took Ortho dept until 9pm to review it. They did a splint and said they wanted a CT scan. We waited until 330am for the CT and its literally 7am and we are still sitting here waiting for the results. Nowhere for me sit except a folding chair. This has been the worst ER experience ever. For kids under 21 go to Childrens. Had we known they had an Ortho available in their ER, we would have went there. We were told he would need to follow up with a pediatric orthopedic anyway.

Kansas Ceasr If I could give negative stars I would..but Google wont allow this. . I checked in 3:39pm on a Monday, waiting room was packed, but I was told it was going fast .. and the wait wouldnt be super long.. Well thats a lie! Waited.... 2hrs in and I got my vitals checked and talked to a triage nurse.. was told by her they were trying to hurry along people, and get people moving into rooms... Well this is a lie. 2 more hours waiting in a waiting room..several people come after me, are seen almost immediately. One guy who got hit by a car, was seen and rushed right away! Due to him having connections to a nurse/Dr who worked there... One more hour passed. Got my vitals checked a 2nd time.. Ok By this time Im done waiting, tired, and freaking hungry.. But by this time, the waiting room is PACKED! So you get up you basically lose your seat.. Several people in there are homeless just taking up a spot, some people are on drugs talking to themselves, there was a fight both inside the building as well as our front.. If you want to see a zoo..come to ECMC. Where is there is long waits, huge lines, and you never get called on.. Worst hospital ever! Shame to cause the nurses seemed like they cared, when I walked in. Obviously I am wrong.

Tashnemara Upama What a joke this hospital is. Horrible experience. I’ve been waiting in the emergency with my dad since 5 o’clock. So 8 hours. When i asked staff nicely, they reply saying someone is waiting for 13 hours proudly. What a joke? How is this even a emergency room? Never had an experience like this! Unacceptable. People will die out here just waiting to be seen by the doctor. Update: we waited 10 hours and ended up leaving without seeing doctor.

Yvonne Emke Went to ED in severe pain for appendicitis evaluation. After hours trying to be seen by ANYBODY (we never left the waiting room) the staff then misdiagnosed me by saying I had a blood clot in my leg--which was totally not accurate. After 14 hours and constant nasty attitudes by the staff, I finally got discharged. No diagnosis for abdominal pain. No care to relieve these symptoms. As an RN for the last 30 years, I have never seen or been a part of such a horrible lack of care. Will never return to such a negative environment. Think twice before going to this so called ED.

Rick Kelchlin Very bad emergency room took wife in there. She’s been in the waiting room for 24 hours. Seems like they take care of the homeless and the drug addicts.

Sarah Sprague If I could pay to leave zero or negative stars, I would do it. They refused any form of pain relief, including ibuprofen and water. 16 hours of laying in a bed by the ambulance bay. I begged for water. For help. To go to the bathroom. I begged for answers so I could possibly get out of that wretched place. But no one came. No help. I had a bed next to a wall with no call light. No outlets.. nothing. The only reason I got out of there was because my significant other came and saved me. They had forgotten that I was there. Proven by them repeatedly trying to give my bed away to other patients. I was then gaslighted by the dr when I was finally able to meet her. She told me I had no reason to be there, despite my bloodwork and imaging suggesting otherwise. Once I pulled up my test results she said. Yes there are abnormalities. But she couldn’t do anything about it now because I’m discharged.

Gerald Gorecki I would rate it zero if that was an option. This emergency room is an absolute joke!!! I took my wife there because she had symptoms of a stroke or neurological issue. The staff did nothing to address the reason why we came in at all. We sat in a waiting room for 10+ hours. The staff never checked her, ran a couple of tests, only after I told them I was going to take her somewhere else, which was 8.5hrs into this visit, then sent her home with release forms that weren’t even filled out properly. While on our super awesome day at the hospital, we witnessed so many other individuals in obvious pain just shoved in a corner and also ignored for hours on end. They don’t even take people back in a room to get seen most of the time. At one point we witnessed a doctor coming out to check a gentleman’s lower extremities in the middle of the waiting room. If that’s not enough, they gave my wife a cat scan, then afterwards, they gave her a urine cup, also in the middle of the waiting room, made her keep the cup in her pocket for 15 minutes, then came to collect the cup.. the biggest problem with that is that they didn’t even do a pregnancy test on her until after they shoved her in a tube(which they didn’t even scan her whole head)!!!!! This place is worse than a 3rd world meat factory. If you have the ability to go to ANY of the surrounding hospitals, DO IT! This place should be shut down and the staff should all find a new career! Never again!

Miggie Jean A year ago, Dr. Schifeling came highly recommended by one of my specialist but the receptionist said he does not really see patients. I got a young Asian doctor (can’t remember his name) but he was an awful physician. I have multiple sclerosis and was just came off heavy steroids a few months earlier so I was concerned about the excess weight. He dismissed my concerns and basically insinuated that I must be overeating and that’s the only reason I’m fat. He gave me literature on how to not overeat—for context, I am a pescatarian who is a picky eater and under calories. My dear neurologist was the one who found that my thyroid is extremely enlarged. I called the primary care to set up an appointment and spoke to the disgusting excuse for a receptionist. She yelled at me “what is the emergency” when I told her I couldn’t wait months for an appointment. It’s been over a year and I won’t go back to this office.

The Elegant Brain This is a hit or miss type of clinic. Some interns are great while others shouldnt be allowed to practice. The receptionists are by nature extremely rude, with rate exception.

Trippy Savv The way they treat people here is disgusting!! You can ask basically anybody who has been to ecmc and theyll all tell you how horrible it is. Treated my mother horrible after her surgery and discharged her under an hour from getting out of surgery despite it being a major life changing surgery. They told me theyd update me when she was out of surgery and they didnt!!! I was waiting in the waiting room for hours with nobody telling me what was going and then to find out they made horrible comments to my mother! UNREAL save yourself the energy and go to a different hospital. Sadly her surgeon operated out of ecmc only.

CodyFern Fan ECMCs psychiatric emergency room and inpatient facilities, in my experience, consist of atrocious wait times and a malicious attitude toward patients on the part of many employees/nurses/doctors. The treatment was exceptionally unacceptable at *CPEP*, the centers Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program. This program is a highly unhealthy and ridiculously overwhelmed facility to which “at risk” mental health patients are sent, often against their own wishes, without access to the internet, their phones, or many basic needs until they are officially sent. to an inpatient psychiatric ward. It was many hours before a psychiatric doctor saw me on CPEP (at least 27 hours, if I counted correctly), and I had to stay there for several days longer than I should have (they profusely say that “there are no beds available upstairs” ) in an extremely unhygienic and discriminatory environment. The bathrooms *regularly ran out of soap*, and there were *unnecessary restrictions* like complicated plumbing to get your daily or as-needed (PRN) medication, a Band-Aid, a days-old, soaked san, with no one required to wear a mask, and no one is quickly seen by a board-certified doctor. The staff did not provide me with an ADA shower until I had been at ECMC for 7 full days, even though my PCP ordered the accommodation to help me recover from my chipped fibula. I did not receive my prescriptions and the treatment I needed for my disability in a fair, efficient, or reasonable manner. Their medical evaluation and treatment processes, both in my observations and those of other patients, consist of downplaying various findings and aspects of ones behavior and personality and exaggerating certain personal or medical details. Discriminatory treatment based on sex, age, and disability status was widespread, including inappropriate behavior by many staff members and frequent use of name-calling and inconsiderate word choices. These complaints do not apply to all staff members; In fact, many of the nurses and social workers, especially in inpatient facilities, were genuinely sincere, helpful, incredible human beings, but virtually every valid point and unacceptable issue that was brought to someones attention was blamed for them. ECMC was “understaffed.” However, I sure would love to know what the medical director/director/CEO or whoever is in charge of the net worth of this institution is… ECMC has many exceptional professionals, nurses and doctors, BUT it appears that the hospital mental health sector remains the lowest priority on ECMCs radar, and very few resources are actually allocated to the programs they advertise. If anyone is struggling with mental health, I highly recommend visiting their PCP (Primary Care Doctor)*, seeing a counselor (from centers like BestSelf) they trust, visiting a different immediate care center like WellNow, or visiting BPC or BryLin*, contact *Buffalos Mental Health PEERS Connection* (which provides free transportation to and from the center) or by calling 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Line. I think they are finally starting to pay attention to the concerns of many mental health patients as a result of the firestorm of recent controversies and complaints, but I still *wouldnt recommend ECMC to my worst enemy anytime soon*.
