Belladonna B. I am incredibly grateful for the outstanding care my mother received at Medical City McKinney’s ER. From the moment we arrived, Jason, Ben, and the entire team demonstrated not only exceptional medical leadership but also genuine compassion. They worked swiftly to address my mother’s needs while ensuring that both she and I felt heard and cared for, despite the usual demands of an ER.
There were no unnecessary delays—every step was taken with precision and empathy. I also want to recognize the X-ray team for their gentle touch and kindness. They used such care, making the process as comfortable as possible for her. Their professionalism and attentiveness did not go unnoticed.
Thank you to the entire team for your dedication and compassion during a stressful time. Your hard work makes a difference.

Laura Caceres If asked I preferred Baylor Mckinney over this hospital. My mother was put in a room with no windows and furniture which is fine as long as they take good care of her. The next day I arrived at 8:50 a.m. and the door was completely shut and the room was pitch dark with no single light on and she had not had breakfast. I have never seen this in an ER where there is always some kind of lighting and the doors are semi open. The nurses in the ER were not polite, when I tried to approach them they kept their heads hidden behind the monitors in their desks when I went on the side to see if they acknowledge me, they did not. Yes, they were on the phone but they could have given me the sign that they will talk to me later instead they have an assistance telling you that they were too busy and they will get back to me which they didnt. My mother needed to do her vowel movement and instead of wipes they brought some time of paper napkins that they spray with a liquid, they say they did not have wet wipes available. Then my 89 years old mother dare to ask if she was going to be cleaned because she was lift up and she thought she was going to bed and the ER nurse answer her extremely rude.
The reason I am giving 3 stars is because they did stabilize my mother condition and the service improved tremendously when she was moved to a regular hospital room. Staff was courteous and very helpful, the room was roomy and lighted, it was night and day compared to the ER room.
I think I am used to the higher standards of life in Florida. This is a rich state but it does not show.

Mark Baland Once I got a private room, my experience was pleasant. However, at the time that I showed up, the hospital was unusually busy. They were overbooked and understaffed. The employees were polite, attentive, and helpful, but the vitals monitors (mine and those of others) were infuriatingly loud and persistent, having a war of disjointed beeps due to connection issues, movement, etc. The beds in private rooms are supportive and comfortable, but the beds in the triage area were very painful to me. My weight was balanced on my tailbone and lower back on a metal pole under the mattress with what felt like a small flat platform. After about 12 hours, I was having to shift from side to side every few minutes to withstand the discomfort…

T Bull Though the ER was busy as to be expected, upon telling the Paramedic at intake what I was experiencing and him immediately checking my vitals, they had me back in a triage room within 5 minutes!! No more than 20 minutes after triage, they determined I needed further tests and care, placing me in an ER room/bed. While not my desired outcome, it was determined I needed to be admitted and they had me transferred to a regular room and bed within another 2 hours tops. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful, allowing to make the best out of what couldve been a worse experience and situation. If I or my family have to go the ER in the future, this will be our first choice.

Bob Koepke My elderly father was taken to Medical City McKinney ER by ambulance for respiratory problems that turned out to be pneumonia. The ER was very responsive and professional even though the ER waiting room was full of flu patients. Since there were no hospital rooms to be admitted to, they kept my dad in an ER exam room overnight until a hospital room freed up. This worked out very nicely and I was most appreciative. The next day he was admitted to a regular hospital room.

Travis Berg This clinic is a waste of time in my experience.
I called and explained a situation needing to get checked out, the person on the phone essentially said she didnt think they could do anything for me - without reason. But then INSISTED I come in for things like basic labs, exams, etc. I recently lost my insurance and my annual pay dropped down to less than $5000/yr due to personal reasons, which is why I wanted to look into this clinic for what was an urgent situation that required primary physician care.
Upon arrival I was asked to take a seat for about 20 minutes so someone who came in *after* me could be spoken to during this time, then I was finally given my paperwork. I filled out the forms and was instructed to hand over my ID, a copy of car insurance and email over some pay stubs - reminder I just recently lost nearly 90% of my income, have NO INSURANCE and was told my treatment (which they admitted may not even be viable for my needs) would be dependent on that. By this point Im over an hour here, still waiting to be called back or to speak to someone. Then in front of about 6 people the secretary just goes "We wont help you" because I "dont qualify". I told her *AGAIN* about my loss of insurance coverage and my significant drop in pay, but because they used older paystubs I wasnt eligible for potentially lacking care after basically being begged to come in so they could "try" to help.
Theyre indecisive, dismissive and will discard you at the first chance they can. A complete waste of my time, especially as someone having an urgent need to care and needing to be seen. I was upfront and honest with them about my loss of insurance, pay about my urgent need for care and they still couldnt decide if they even had the capacity to help me with what I needed and then threw me aside in front of other patrons like I was a waste of their space. This place is a JOKE and they do not care about the community like they claim.

Shiza Zahid I volunteered at this clinic and it was by far the best volunteering experience I have had so far! :) The MA, NPs, MDs and front office folks are there for the sole purpose of helping out people of our community. The work atmosphere is fantastic and super friendly. I am so grateful to everyone there for their humanitarian work!

Hannah Hames Great place to work and to be a patient! The staff genuinely cares for their patients and is there to give the best care possible! Compassion is of upmost importance. It’s like being at a little boutique hospital; a calm environment, tending most to elective surgeries. You are in good hands here!

Randall W Orsburn my wife was a recent patient this week and had a fairly arduous shoulder replacement surgery, and i was frankly amazed at the quality of care by the nursing staff there. when you check into this hospital you deal with admitting nurses; Tanya and our anesthesiologist Ashley were kind and efficient. after the surgery her nursing staff were incredibly kind and efficient: Rita, Pilar, Dianna, Angelina and Brezza were all great...Chaneavy was tremendous and was there to help my wife every step of the way. her post-op physical therapists Sierra and Dannie were also great. like a lot of people my wife and i have been patients in a number of local hospitals, this facility is by far the best we have ever encountered! i would recommend this facility and their staff to my family and friends, they are tremendous!

Roy Parker I have been to far too many hospital waiting rooms over the past few years. This (3 Feb 2025) was the first time someone from the staff has EVER come to see if there was anything that I needed.
That meant so much to me. Yes, absolutely the focus should be on the person receiving care, but it is easy I think to forget about the family who is waiting, and praying for positive outcomes.
Methodist McKinney… you are getting it right!!! Thank you!

Sharon Huckabay I went today for a shot and was so pleased with the staff. Beginning with check-in they were welcoming, friendly and great at their job. After having a very bad experience at a hospital in Frisco I was nervous. I didnt mention that to them, no need. The attending nurse, operating room staff, recovery incredible. The sweet woman who took me to the car in a wheel chair even got my seat belt for me! Have never had that done before. Please keep up the great work

joanna shropshire My experience from Baylor Scott and While was very appreciated. The entire staff, was very caring . I was in the hospital for 10 days and each physician was caring.
I had the best team that treated me . I highly recommend this location in McKinney Texas.
I also want to say the Lab, Dept was so kind and was the first person I saw each morning. My 4:30 am blood draw was painless for someone that has blood draw issues. Again I personally thank each of you .

Barbara Bowen I received excellent care from Baylor McKinney Hospital. Went to ER not expecting to stay but pain and situation got much worse. Communication and care was excellent. ER was crowded and intake seemed a little slow. Once we were past that, things moved quickly.

Sam Todd Check in staff - 1 Star - Very slow - 1 lady serving while 3 stood behind the counter chatting. LONG LINE and staff were in no hurry. Took my husband with suspected broken leg after falling off the roof. Front desk called him and told him to go to the exam room - WITH A SUSPECTED BROKEN LEG - no wheelchair - walk it off, I guess. Triage Dr 3.5 stars - thorough but wanted to "as a precaution" Xray left leg, which was not hurt and scan of head and neck, which were also not hurt! UM WHY? Triage nurse 1 star - Dry, no sense of humor and unpleasant only giving one word answers and looked like she did not want to be there. You chose this profession. If you dont want to help people then this is not the career for you! Dr who saw my husband was fantastic - 5 stars - He was thorough and agreed uninjured left leg Xray and head and neck scan were an overkill and totally not necessary. Xray on right leg was done . No break or fracture. Dr said he was shocked that my husband had no fracture at the very least, given how bad his leg looked. 0 STARS for the discharge nurse. My husband asked what she was handing him and she said it was the discharge paperwork and wound care. My husband said he thought it was a breakdown of the steep bill they just discussed with him. (With a dead straight, bored looking face...) she said, WAIT FOR IT... "That is what you get when you come to hospital with a little boo boo on your leg!" UM WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS! She did not smile or change the bored tone in her voice so one can only assume she was not making a joke. My husbands lower leg was twice the size and bulging on one side. It looked crooked. The Dr himself was sure my husbands leg was at the very least fractured cause it looked so bad! But she was out right rude telling my husband he only had a little boo boo - implying he deserved a high bill for basically wasting everyones time in hospital for FALLING OFF THE ROOF and sustaining a mere scratch on his leg. AND for this great experience in the ER they told my husband his out of pocket bill would be $1197 - for a Dr consult and an X-ray! And YES we have health insurance - that was not the full bill that was just our out of pocket! DISGUSTING! RIP OFF! TERRIBLE PLACE! Make sure your are dying before you go there so you can get bang for your buck! But then again you may just die in the line just waiting to check in!

Leslie Swan This review is specifically for the ER. I took my elderly mother into the ER with severe flu. She is 84 and was too weak to even walk. It was an extremely long wait (almost 7 hours until we were seen by a doctor; close to 10 hours by the time we were out of there).
I hate to leave bad reviews and really dont do it but Im making an exception. The staff at the front desk were not friendly, understanding or helpful. There was no communication about the process - all we got was theres a bit of a wait. Maybe they were short staffed. The waiting room was crowded for sure and I am sure their jobs are difficult. It would be a such a comfort to the sick patients and their families if the staff could a) express some true empathy and b) set expectations about what happens between check in and when you are seen by a physician and released. Just knowing that first they take you back for an EKG but then you go back out to the waiting area (for hours) and then they take you back to get an IV placed, draw blood and do the flu/Covid swab, then you go back to the waiting area again, etc. Mom was shivering and it was an act of congress just to get blankets for her, in fact the front desk didnt help me - I found a nurse going in the locked entrance and she was super helpful and brought 2 warm blankets out for her.
Thank you to our nice nurse Sarah and Dr. Alex Williams. They were both very busy seeing patients but took time to be compassionate and thorough. The lady that took mom back for her chest x-ray was also great. We felt well cared for by them - although it was 3 AM they managed to put a smile on their face and care for us. Bless these healthcare workers. Just watching all the hurt and sick people who walk into that ER, it really brings home how difficult their jobs are.

Sandy This is the worst hospital visit I have ever had. I should’ve went to Medical City Plano and driven the extra miles. Day surgery was wonderful. It was impatient at ACU. After major abdominal surgery not one nurse did an an assessment to see how I was doing. I had to call them and tell them I was in pain. They never asked where it was how bad it was or descriptions, such as sharp shooting pain which it was. And this went on for a whole 24 hours. Whatever they charted in the chart is false because they didn’t ask me one thing. I had to take care of everything myself. They refuse to call the doctor at 5 o’clock in the morning and get me different pain medication because the current medication was not working. They dismissed my concerns and never came back. They were all out there laughing and having a good time at the nurses station while I was suffering in pain. i’m pretty sure they acted like this because I take routine pain medication for tumors on my back and spinal issues along with arthritis. That’s discrimination. I got dressed and was gonna go down to the emergency room and get help but instead they said I could go home and discharge me with unbearable pain. Who does that? No one asked and no one cared.. The day nurse came in before I left and gave me pain medication through the IV that was infiltrated which I told them was and again no one listened so I got no medication. She was snotty after I told her I needed something stronger and said well I guess you’re not getting anything. I had to call the house supervisor because not even the floor supervisor was willing to do anything and blew me off. I wasn’t even allowed to know the name of the manager of the whole unit. I was not allowed to leave a voicemail and all I could do is leave my name and she may call me back. I came home and Called the Surgeon and they said they’re not obligated to give pain medication Because I already have a Pain Doctor which I told them doesn’t prescribe medication two weeks after surgery Before hand. They would not prescribe. Eliquis, which prevents blood clots. Even though I have a history. I had to go through my family practice Doctor.. Why is it? They don’t tell you this stuff ahead of time and here I am stuck at home? This is negligent behavior at the least which is medical fraud specially, with the charting. I would love to know what they put in the legal documents. I would stay away from Baylor. This is the second time they have done something like this to me. I should’ve learned the first time.
