4 /5 Mr. Cellophane: Ill break down the review into a few categories: Communication, Quality, and Price
So, first category: Communication. This is honestly the reason why I couldnt give the shop 5 stars. Now, to be fair, the times that they called me, the tech was VERY thorough. He explained everything they had done and what was still pending. They didnt give me the "yeah, yeah, were working on it" that other shops give. They replaced the O2 sensor, the mass air flow sensor, and the temperature control sensor. The tech explained how they figured out that those needed replacing, explained why it was taking so long, etc. So, my issue with communication is that out of about 20 times that I called the shop, I only got through about 3 times. It was extremely frustrating to now know what was going to happen, when, etc. They had my car for 7 days, so the frustration really built up.
Quality. By far, this is the best general auto repair shop that Ive found in Edinburg. Im not from here, so it was troubling to visit shop after shop trying to find one that has high standards and wont "duct tape" the repairs. Sure, a duct tape repair will be cheaper and get you back on the road quickly, but its bound to break down again. Id rather pay for a good, thorough repair and know that Im set. As I mentioned, they took about 7 days to repair my car and when I got a call from the tech, he explained everything they had done and everything they were going to do. Their diagnostic was very thorough - I mean, I had never heard of a shop that did what this shop did. Sure, it took 7 days to finish my car, but its running like a dream now.
As for the price, everything was broken down on the phone call and once again on the receipt - the cost of the parts (which matched the prices at auto part stores) and the cost of labor. There were no hidden or mysterious charges. Im sure the repair wouldve been cheaper at the shop thats just up the road from this one, but I also know that I wouldve paid for one repair, realized it didnt fix the problem, then paid for another repair, then...well, you get the idea. I know this because it happened to me in the past. They like to patch things up quickly and get on to the next customer, whereas Master Shop actually finds the problem and fixes it. Theres no guessing or trial and error with this shop.
I 100% feel like I paid a very fair price for the work done. I know for sure Ill be bringing my cars to this shop for future repairs and Ill also be recommending it to my friends.
