Laura EDIT: I phoned the office manager and she assured me that is not the case and was indeed unusual behavior. The doctor does not deserve the bad rating. I switched to a new clinic where they can see you in an emergency and I dont have to resort to YouTube for help. They are not able to take me for an emergency or pretty much anything else unless you have an appointment. Must make an appointment for weeks out. Nurse told me to go to the hospital...it was a high blood pressure reading at the dentist. I told her I was a block away. Then she told me Dr. Lemme was not taking new patients. I had been coming here for a year. She said I did the initial visit with the PA. She is gone and he is not taking anyone new even tho I have been seeing Dr. Lemme for a year.

Herb Johnson I’m a provider, worked with Dr Lemme as a consultant in the Navy over several years, and have chosen him as my primary care provider, and I know many. I have moderately severe cervical and lumbar back problems which can be debilitating and quite painful at times. Because he is an Osteopathic Physician, he is able to augment my needs with spinal manipulation, which to this point, has left me much more functional between acute back pain/strain episodes, sometimes for months at a time. Additionally, I have, to this point, been able to put off back surgery. Given my responsibilities as a caretaker, this is of paramount importance at this time. Dr Lemme has been sensitive to my needs, and we have a relationship of mutual respect and trust. He’s also great at all other aspects of his FamilyPractice. Worth the wait!

jean pope I need to update and change the negative report that I posted but I can’t find it. The office (maybe manager) called me. Removed the item that I was bring billed for and I’m going back to see him today. Live and let live!!

Michelle Dawson I have been truly blessed finding this dentist! The entire staff is compatioanate, patient, and the most loving, giving people I have meet in a long time. They have helped me through my fear of the dentist due to bad experience, fear of needles, previous lock jaw and never judged me or made me feel bad about my nervous tears. If I could only give back what they have done for me I would! They are definitely a dentistry that works with God to help others in need.

S I had a terrible experience at Peace Health Medical Center two weeks ago now. I had called my insurances nurses line and they told me to go to the ER. I went in, calmly explained why I was at the hospital and than the doctor on call came into the room annoyed sat across the room in one of the patient chairs, arms crossed and said “so why are you here” I explained the situation and how I had vertigo early in the week and couldn’t walk. He didn’t look at me, blew me off and said okay we’ll run some blood work. My labs came back normal. The doctor then ordered a Valium and three bags of fluid. I asked why the Valium was ordered as I wasn’t experiencing anxiety or a panic attack and they stated oh well it will calm you. I declined this. They then gave me three bags of fluid in less than two hours. I went home and six hours later woke up swollen, in pain, and thirteen pounds heavier. I then asked my sister an rn what to do and she said to go to the er. I then had to return to the ER and was given a diuretic because I was given to much fluid for no apparent reason and had now had edema and third spacing. A week passes by and had blood work done through a different doctor and now have imbalances in kidney and liver function. I was blown off by this doctor at the ER and out in harm because of his neglect. Every one I have told this to in the medical field has been astonished and apologetic for what happened to me and that I should have never had to have been put in harm that way by a medical professional.

Joseph Tein The medical staff are friendly, efficient and professional... once you reach them. However, try to reach them and youre facing frustration and outrageously long waiting times on hold. Ive now been waiting more than 10 minutes just to be able to talk to someone and they dont give you the option to leave a voice mail. This is just to make an appointment for a VACCINATION. This medical center, overall deserves a 4 but their accessibility deserves a -1. Added comment a year later: again, the staff are mostly helpful, caring, professional and attentive. Youd better have excellent medical insurance or a lot of money when you use this facility, however. The charges for services here are exorbitant. For one blood pressure check that took maybe 5 minutes, they billed my insurance $108 ... this is just about what the LPN who took my blood pressure earns in a whole day. Best advice: watch your health and dont get sick. Reducing my rating to a 3, but not because of the quality of the medical care itself.

Ophelia Retherford Always always the worst experience with these people I went and told them my feet need to be xrayed and that my pain was a 6 and a 10 at night, as in a couldnt even walk at night I watched 4 other men who had pain in their wrist rated at a 4 at the very highest get prioritized and when asked why I was told it was because their injuries were rated worse. BS last time I was there I asked the nurse if she could wait before giving me a shot and putting the covid test in my nose because I am terrified of needles instead she decided to shove both objects into my body quite roughly.

Tay I am very thankful, and surprised, to say that this hospital took the absolute best care of me that I have received in years. After two miserable appointments to the Island hospital ER, everything was completely different when I arrived here. I was immediately given an EKG, and taken seriously. I was immediately offered a blanket, the nurses held my hand and comforted me, many nurses and the doctor were all very focused on my care and comfort and checked on my frequently. I cried because it finally felt like I was being taken care of. Thanks to Maggie, Cynthia, Emily and Holly.

Ren Fuller Waited in the ER for 6 hours and wasn’t seen. And there were still four people ahead of me that had been there for longer. I went in for possible kidney infection or lodged kidney stone. I understand that my need wasn’t an emergency “emergency”. I had already gone to urgent care and they sent me to the ER. I get it, beds were full, sicker people need to be seen, staff were doing their best! I am not mad at anyone. But I was in so much pain and I had nobody to watch my toddler as her bedtime was approaching. I could not sit in those chairs any longer. I left the ER crying and in pain with no answers. Still in a large amount of pain. If you want to avoid long wait times I’d suggest somewhere else.

Marilyn Faber Kourtnee Lindgren with WhidbeyHealth women’s care is an absolute delight. She took the time to answer every question, thoroughly explained procedures and gave great recommendations for my health. I will be recommending her to everyone seeking women’s health care. My phleb tech, Emily is a treasure. She put me right at ease with her demeanor and humor and got my vein in one poke. I saw KK in radiology. She was patient, kind and did an outstanding job. Added perks booking with WhidbeyHealth women’s care is that the nurses and front staff are just as amazing. I love the text messages about appointments and the thank you for coming in. Nice touch!

Amy Huwa My husband went in with ear pain, throat, and sinus issues. Told them he had started the week with 103 fever, and these were his symptoms. At this point, his eyes were also swollen. The PA he saw literally came into his room, asked him about why he was there...did not once touch or examine him anywhere and said that he had pink eye and where do you want me to call in the meds to. I took him to the ER, and he had a double ear infection, a sinus infection, and pink eye in both eyes. The kicker for me is I know they will bill my insurance wrong, and I will have to call to try to get them to code it correctly...which never happens and I always get the run around. To say I am disappointed in the care is an understatement. He literally walked into his room, crossed his legs and asked him his symptoms, and never once physically examined my husband. I hope this helps the clinic have an open and honest conversation about their level of care and a prompt conversation of what is needed to better themselves. Clearly change is needed.

Cathy Pettersen This facility is utterly mismanaged. They need to do better in every aspect of patient care. Should you decide to use the patient portal, as requested by the doctor, you must GO INTO THE FACILITY to sign up. I’m appalled by the lack of care and concern shown by the support staff and find their lackadaisical approach during patient interactions so off putting. I would not recommend this facility if you have a choice.

Tina Dykema If I could give no stars, I would! I saw a physicians assistant, Pa Carrol. First off, this person was dressed in completely unprofessional attire, and his demeanor was even worse. Second, PA Carrol is clueless about medications and is not fit to pretend he is a doctor. Run away fast from that clinic, I did!

Charrissa Anne Benavides My mom(who is a tourist) and I visited Whidbey health walk-in Clinic for her to get prescription for her maintenance meds. From the moment we walked in, I was impressed with the level of service. The reception staff greeted us warmly, answered our questions and concerns in an excellent manner and checked us in within minutes. The check-in process was smooth and efficient. The waiting area was clean, comfortable, and organized. The clinic seemed well-maintained and up-to-date. When it was my mom’s turn, the medical assistant who took her vitals was exceptionally kind and professional. Dr. Jeffrey Carroll attended to her shortly afterward. He was attentive and thorough, taking the time to listen to my mom’s explanation and concerns. We also appreciate the clear instructions to get my mom’s medications. The whole experience was seamless. Overall, our experience with the clinic is great. The staff were friendly and professional, the wait time was minimal, and the quality of care was top-notch. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone in need of prompt and professional medical attention. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ---

Lovely experience and would highly recommend! They took my registration quickly as a new patient, and the front desk lady was so kind and cheerful for Friday morning. The phlebotomist was equally kind And efficient and I was out the door with my blood work sent back to my doctor for my appointment next week. Five star service!! Thank you for being here.

D L Steer clear from this clinic. If you love your spouse, get her anywhere else besides here. Most staffs are rude, unprofessional, their secondary patient representative hang up on me without tell me why, and they never pick up their phone, or call back. Their excuses for bad service is oh we are ruining low on people. Stay away from this place. Not worth the hassle.

Richard Smith Mostly bad experiences here. This place is one of the reasons why service members stationed in the area can put their family members on Tricare Prime US Family Health Plan and use a civilian Doctor as an alternative and not need to pay out of pocket. If you are retired you can also do the same and not be seen here. Upon seeing my civilian doctor he was appalled by the medications I was on and how long I was on it. He immediately ordered a liver function test and changed my prescriptions. My family and I have a much better quality of life.

GEORGE ACFALLE I have Five stars because I only had one little issue with a staff member. I have nothing but great experiences with my PCM and the medical staff here at the Whidbey Island naval clinic. I am not surprised of how many bad reviews on this website. I believe I have an answer. First, it’s the military and we PCS every 2-3 years so there’s always that issue and with that, there’s always good and not so good leadership in the lineup. So what is the fix? Leadership. Leadership needs to hold their people accountable. I am not sure what the clinic’s mission statement is; but maybe it should be treat people with respect and dignity. If indeed it has something along those lines then it starts at the top, the Commanding Officer is not holding their staff both active duty and civilians accountable. Second, there’s a paper called the comment card, I am sure Sailors fill that out. Is the leadership really reading them? And if so, what are they doing about the not so good complaints. Lastly, and perhaps the most important one. Get Real Get Better policy the CNO put out. As an XO, I believe one of the first GRGB Triad training was take care of people. Again, leadership problem not the patient or in this case the Sailor. Example: I was checking out my medical records last year and witnessed a female Sailor massaging a male Sailor in the records volt. Remember the saying? If you see something say something? Well, I reported it to the clinic CMC, because that is not professional and not in line with military standards. Not so sure what happened with that. Another example last year, I was looking for the lab and stumbled across a Chief, I said excuse me Chief, where can I find the lab? She quickly said read the sings shipmate! Then she quickly looked down and saw my rank device and quickly was apologizing and said Sir, I didn’t know you were a LCDR. I’m so sorry. I then quickly said, Chief, you need to slow your role and attitude. I asked her, is this the way you treat Sailors? No Sir, she said. Again, common practice lingers and festers and gets fed down the chain of command to the junior Sailor to adopt. Now this medical clinic becomes toxic in patient care. Our jobs are like our home front, our kids will 90% of the time do what we as parents do. Nothing changes at the work place; our Sailors see what their seniors are doing and believe it’s okay. At any rate, we could all do better when it comes to treating people the way we want to be treated. I want to put this thought in your front pockets. Notice how I didn’t say back pockets? Because people will just sit on it. Every command has leadership issues, people skills issues, and sometimes, bad clinical practices. Take it upon yourself to make your command the best no matter where you are stationed. Mentor those who are struggling with or having a hard time with leading. And I will tell you, it works every time. V/r, LCDR Acfalle

Stephanie M I absolutely love Dr. Thorpe, he’s been my PCP since I first moved here a few years ago and I’m grateful for him. I have had no problems getting referrals to all of the specialists I have needed, he’s gone above and beyond to get my insurance to cover medications I’ve needed that they denied, and he’s just an all-around personable and friendly guy. He has no problem explaining things in a way that are easily understandable, which is hard to come by in a doctor.

Jillian Brown RUN from this office. I have had a total of 3 appointments here. One to establish care, one to review labs and a third as a follow up for an ER visit. The fist visit was the typical run of the mill care visit, with a few gems peppered in for fun I assume. The doctor seemed pleasant initially but then started discussing his political views. This should have been my queue, but I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. When going over my history, Dr. Thorpe blamed my long term symptoms on the covid vaccine and started talking about how ineffective it is. I made a comment about how that doesn’t bother me because it was likely what saved me from being hospitalized due to covid. He dismissed what I was saying. I mentioned another issue I had been having long term and he told me his wife had it worse. Should have left then. The ER follow up takes the cake, however. I called to schedule the appointment and was asked several times why I needed to come in. When my appointment rolled around they called to verify where I was seen. I had already gone over that when I made the appointment, but hey, we’re all human. I see their lovely nurse first, who has been friendly each time I’ve seen her. The doctor came in shortly after covered in crumbs. Again dismissing my symptoms and refused to write a referral, saying “we already know what you have. They aren’t going to do anything for you.” And continued to talk about diet(which is related to the condition but I already received that information). No further labs or tests, just “oh well we know now so it is what it is) attitude. It was at that moment the fate was sealed. Never again will I go to this office. They do not take patients seriously nor do they seem to care.

Limael C This place was surreal. None of the staff, including doctors, were wearing masks in early 2022) I had to request that they put them on. I have a long list of diagnosed chronic and complex health issues, and needed a lot of referrals for specialists, some long overdue and pretty urgent to prevent things from progressing (MRI diagnosed severe spinal cord compression and no feeling in fingers anymore being among them). The doctor acknowledged that I had a lot going on, and ordered some bloodwork, and then proceeded to not give me a single referral, despite the fact that I had waited 4 months to be seen by them specifically (and 8 months before that trying to see ANYONE), and they refuse to give more than 1 referral per visit, and the soonest I could be seen again was 5 weeks later. The icing on the cake was when I got covid a month later, despite being as careful as possible, and when I called right after testing positive, it took 2 days to get the doctor (or any dr despite calling and leaving messages) on the phone. When I asked about getting a prescription, the doctor said "the only treatments for Covid are hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin". I said "what about Paxlovid" and he continued on like I hadnt asked. I was coughing stuff up 24/7 for a month, and now have a number of symptoms I didnt have before, which I absolutely didnt need on top of everything else. NOPE. They also sent me a bill for an office visit when that was already covered by my insurance. HARD PASS.

Thomas Hines Ive had some good and some bad experiences over the past 5 years. My primary care physician is Dr. Fisher. He is personable and qualified but trying to make an appointment to see him is difficult. I usually get assigned to a nurse practitioner, some great, some not so good. My last visit was with Jessica - she was one of the great ones. My previous visit was with Joshua - he was one of the not so good ones. Im 74 and have had some serious medical issues. I would love to talk to my primary care physician but scheduling an appointment usually requires a 2 month wait.

The receptionist is very nice and helpful too. Five Stars to this group.

Peter DeVries I always pay my bills on time. The company sent me a bill to the wrong address and sent it to collections. I called the company to ask them to pull the collection back so that I could pay them directly and the billing person said that they cant pull it back. Im filing a complaint with the BBB and Attorney General. Im happy to pay and resolve this with the company if they want me to pay them directly. Their mistake and not mine. They had my correct address when I went in and chose to send bills to the wrong address. Never using this company again. No phone calls, emails, or bills by mail to me or I would have paid.

Tammy Bright 0 stars. Do not see PA Kayla Cook! She is horrible! Her bedside manner is the absolute worst! No compassion, no comprehension, and she is full of herself! I went in for a physical, yes it had been a while for me since Covid and I needed to establish care. My main concern was my thyroid, I knew something was up. My visit with her started off bad from the moment she walked in wearing her big puffy coat and mask. She cared less about my concerns for myself and rushed through my appointment. She did order a thyroid test, but would only do a tsh and refused to order a full thyroid panel at my request. When my tsh came back abnormal she then ordered the lab work I originally requested. When that came back abnormal she accused me of taking a medication I was definitely not taking. I then asked for a referral to an endocrinologist and she refused to give me one until I saw her again. She basically held my health hostage. I then went to Island Health urgent care where they ran more labs and immediately sent me to an endocrinologist. PA Kayla Cook told me there was “absolutely no reason” for my thyroid labs to look like they did unless I was taking a thyroid med that I had not disclosed to her. Low and behold I was diagnosed with dysalbuminemic hyperthyroxinemia. Look it up Kayla, that’s a very long word for you and I’m certain you are not familiar with it, but you might try educating yourself before you accuse a patient of being dishonest! Ps Kayla, if you actually took the time to listen to people and try to help them instead of being so stubborn a little compassion for your patients would go a long way!!

Joyce Forbes Dr. Mic Kinney Was wonderful working with me as a patient. Now I need to find another Doctor as who regards my issues as well as he did. I just was put though a procedure that Dr. Mic Kinney would not have put me through. Because of that I cried the entire time of the procedure because of the pain...knowing what the outcome would be. Im so sorry he wont be here. I will have to find someone as capationit. I had another doctor called me with the results...I saw the results and disagree with them. As far as the difference from Dr. MicKinney. The caller from their whidbey office my over and over said their was no other way and that he can tell by very dense breasts. Dr McKinney found a way. With ultra sound I think without pain. I cant find it right now, but I will be sure to add the info. Thank you, Joyce

Tragan Four Just tried to make an appointment. Was on hold for 30 minutes! I finally had to give up and leave a message. Whoever runs this place needs to hire more staff. I like my provider but the place is run poorly. Whidbey Health emailed me and told me I could send an email to them about my experience today based on the above review. I edited the review to add the below: I left a Google review today indicating a one star review.  The review was based on my attempt to make an appointment to see my provider.  I have been a patient at this office for over 21 years.  Today, I waited on hold for in excess of 30 minutes hoping to talk to reception to schedule an appointment.  I could not wait any longer and left a message.  I have little hope that the message will be returned. This is not the first time I have experienced the near impossible task of reaching someone on the phone at this office.  Earlier this summer, I had scheduled an appointment to change doctors so that I would not be part of the Whidbey Health system anymore.  What precipitated that quest was that I could not reach anyone at Whidbey Health Cabot Drive when I was having difficulty getting an Rx filled.  Because I really like my provider, I cancelled my appointment with another office. Whidbey Health, Cabot Drive Office, has really degraded over the years.  I have seen it.  I like my provider and the others who have provided me care over the years,  but clearly Whidbey Health doesnt prioritize providing sufficient staff for this office. Who knows what else they are not providing.  Im sure my DR/PA/ARNP will move on soon, all the rest have.

Ward Sparacio Sadly, WH Primary Care in Oak Harbor is not helping the reputation for Whidbey Health on Whidbey Island. While the clinical and medical staff across the Whidbey Health system are excellent and committed (special call-out to the amazing team at the MAC Clinic), operational capabilities leave a lot to be desired. For years now, the running joke is that if you need a prescription refill from WH Primary Care, schedule in advance and prepare to make at least 3 follow-up phone calls before you make any progress. In this matter, WH Primary Care is only reliable in their consistent unreliability.

B D I would recommend getting all of your records and going through them. They changed mine, and put false things in my medical history. They also failed to do their homework. And when questioned them about it, I believe her name was Kristen at the front, kicked me out told me I was not allowed there anymore. I’ve been a resident of Whidbey Island for 22 years. This is how I got treated ..Really Thanks

Jack Alexander I went to a doctor appointment so I could establish care with a new doctor in freeland. Since they get a new doctor every 6 months for some reason. They work with the walk in clinic and share information in the system. to preface this off, I wannan say I have Been calling them, sitting on hold just about an hour every time, listening to the same two hold music songs so i could ask about how they said Id be getting a call about a consultation for my collarbone since I went in there over a week ago. First time I called, they said "Ill send you your x rays on email" and I said "I already got my x rays when I went into the walk in clinic 3 days ago" then they said, "well what do you want?" I said "I wanna know who they are referring me to." They said "I dont know yet. Is there anything else you want me to help you with?" I calledtgree to four days later and they said the same thing, then, I actually went in there foe my therapy appointment and talked to my therapist. My therapist and I talked to a lady who worked there, and said "hey he has a displaced broken collarbone and they said they were gonna get him a referral for a consultation, can you get Nancy to let him know about it?" The lady said "I dont work with that department and Nancy isnt here, referrals usually take 10-14 business days, unless theyre urgent." My therapist said, "yeah, but hes in a lot of pain, can you at least let them know" the lady said "I know, but if its been a while since the fracture, its not urgent but ill write it down". she wrote my name and birth date on a paper towel, and probably threw it away because the new doctor I was seeing just started working there and didnt even know I had a broken collarbone. I told him about it, he couldnt find any record of it, when he finally did, he said that "well, I just started working here 2 weeks ago, but on behalf of whidbey primary care, I am sorry, your fracture report got lost, we dropped the ball" I said, "well I tried calling like 2-3 times and talked to someone face to face and they said it would take 14 business days" he said "what? Thats crazy? Maybe if youre getting a colonoscopy! Wha- thats crazy! It shouldnt take that long for a displaced fracture with little pieces broken. You shouldve gotten in right away!" He said I would be getting a call today or tomorrow from an orthopedic surgeon. I would rate them 4 stars before this happened because my only problem at that point was they had a med doctor who they had working in freeland primary care for a week but moved her all the way to oak harbor. I also would have given them more stars because of the new therapist and new doctor was helpful since he finally got notified about my broken collarbone, however, its unbelievable the amount of excruciating pain Ive been in BECAUSE of freeland primary care. I honestly think some people should be fired and some legal action should be filed against them with stuff like this going on

Lynn Rohan Minus 10 stars if I could. Have never written a review but, literally, they are SO bad, reviews that send people elsewhere could potentially be life-saving. Theyve beaten me into having to find another provider, Ive stuck with it FAR too long - my bad - but dont make my mistake. Cannot get through to speak with anyone. Messages are not returned. I have to physically drive to their location in order to communicate anything. Absolutely criminal service. Cannot for the life of me, figure out why they cant solve this - soooo many local people have complained yet nothing has been even slightly improved for the last several years. Yes - Im switching providers. Just trying to save someone else a whole lot of heartache.

Chelsea Bianchini A couple weeks ago they tried to cut my anti depressants off because my doctor left the practice. I called and left multiple messages with no calls back. Now I have gallstones and need a referral from them and again, no pick up and if I go to leave a message it hangs up on me. At the point where I am about to drive to office and speak face to face because this ridiculous

Mary Hollen Im trying to find a replacement for my departing PCP and cannot get a person on the phone to see if there is an appropriate MD who is taking patients. Tried several times and the one person I did talk to (at the hospital in Coupeville) transferred me to a number that took a message but did not call back. This inability to negotiate the automated phone attendant does not speak well for the future, should I happen to be sick and need to talk to my PCP.

Alexandra Joy Showell I ran out of my medications a couple of days ago. I called before they ran out to ask if I could pick them up in Washington, where I go to school, instead of Oregon, where I was over the summer. I have left 5 voicemails over the past couple of days and have had no reply. I do not live on Whidbey island and so I am not able to go there in person. The meds are essential in my life to be a functioning university student. I am utterly helpless and cannot believe the “care” I have received.
