The Best 7 Hair Salons in Olympia, Thurston (part 4)

Janette C. The salon double booked me TWICE. I went there twice. The second time they sent me down and thought that I was someone else - called me by another clients name even though when I walked in I said explicitly which my stylist I had an appointment with. And then, when they finally figured out who I was, they pretended that they didn’t double book me and then I was waiting for 20 minutes while they were coloring someone’s hair “ real quick “. Totally unacceptable. I will never be going there for a haircut. I’m taking my business elsewhere. It also felt really freaking obvious that I was the only person of color there and everyone else didn’t have an issue with their appointment. I just had a baby and this is my first haircut appointment in a year - I was looking forward to the chance to take care of myself, arranged a babysitter and everything and the salon not only wasted my time, but gave me a really terrible experience. EDIT: they called me and said “I know no one likes to wait…” and offered me a free hair cut. I clarified that it was not the waiting that upset me - it was the fact that that they had double booked me TWICE. And no thank you to a free haircut i have no desire to step foot in there again. Then she had the nerve to say I made an error by telling them I said the wrong stylist - and that they were doing color for a client who came early. and that they wouldn’t have taken the other client if i had said the correct stylist’s name. What?? they were the ones who had the appointments all listed there. why would you disregard a client who had an appointment and take one with a later appointment? I was literally on time right when they opened. and then the owner tried to justify that they never double book. and said it was all just a silly misunderstanding. This is not ok and it is all excuses and really made me angrier because the bottom line is that they made it crystal clear I was at the BOTTOM of their priority list. If you want to be treated like a low priority, enjoy this salon. I’d say take your funds elsewhere.

Ciara Wolfe Bri cut my hair too. :/ I came in for a hair cut after my longtime hair dresser had moved out of the area. A woman set me up with a new hairstylist whom after showing her a picture of the exact length and haircut I desired BUTCHERED my hair. I don’t say that lightly. I’ve had a bad haircut before but they’re usually salvageable. This was three weeks before my wedding and she cut my hair however she wanted, didn’t look like the picture. The grow out was horrible and she chopped some parts of my hair from my shoulder to two inches long. I’ve never been so upset and I just watched her in horror as she started by chopping my hair 4 inches shorter than I had requested. This woman was unprofessional, rude, and told me my grow out was going to be horrible. Don’t get your hair cut there it’s a butcher fest. Rant over.

Glen Dickason This is a large salon with very friendly staff. They have a large variety of products for sale for hair and other personal use. Laura cuts my hair. She is friendly and efficient. There are several other staff members there and all have seemed to get along with each other and with their clients.

Sadie Woolman-Morgan I couldnt have had a better experience! Stacy was absolutely wonderful. They were able to book a last minute appointment for me and she was so attentive. Stacy gave me the exact cut and color I was looking for! I will definitely be coming back here.

SJ P1 DONT GO HERE! I dont understand why they have this high a rating with so many bad reviews. I got a haircut. The cut did not follow the overall idea of the pictures I brought. I asked for an appointment for a redo hoping to get something I could be happier with but nobody has contacted me back. It has been more the 2 weeks since my cut. I called and emailed and the stylist has yet to contact me. I dont recommend this place. This is not the first bad review this place has had. I made a mistake of thinking that the bad reviews were isolated events and I assumed they were not that bad but apparently they are. Whoever owns or manages this place needs to do something. It is not okay even if stylists rent a chair to have such poor customer satisfaction or service. I will allow more time before speaking to the owner/manager and completing this review with details and the stylist name. I still continue to be hopeful and think they may come through.

Kathleen Oldfield Ive been a client and friend of Teresas since she moved to Olympia. She is absolutely gifted! She is always so sweet, professional, and you leave her salon feeling and looking fabulous! Her husband Mike is also there to work with her and they make an amazing team! ❤️

Roco Krieg Teresa is a true artist! On so many levels!!! I have been going to her for over 12 years now and every cut has been spot on and receives so many compliments! Both she Teresa and Mike make you feel like you are the only one that counts when you are there. The atmosphere is filled with joy! I so look forward to my haircuts because I always have an incredible time with Teresa and Mike!! The conversation is invigorating and thought provoking and the stories she tells are so entertaining!! You will not be disappointed!!!!

Jay Jennings Mike and Teresa are 100 percent welcoming, friendly and experts in hair. No place around provides the affordable services in such a pleasant venue. Mikes awesome with a straight razor applied after steaming towels and warming face and beard. The whole experience leaves me with a positive outlook upon each visit. Try The Statement!

Edward Olson Ive been going to see Mike the barber for almost a year now and I cannot imagine going anywhere else. His expertise, congeniality, and hospitality make getting a hair cut an event I look forward to. Ive gone to him with a clear idea of the style I wanted and he delivered every time. Honestly, this is the best haircut you can buy for 10 bones... Other barbers in the area will charge the same, but simply treat you like a head of hair... Mike takes the time to be sure you are getting what you wanted, and provide that old fashioned barber experience with a sweet-strange Olympia twist. Ive recommended him to dozens of people, just make sure you call one day (or more) in advance to schedule and appointment. Also Theresa (she runs the salon) is a gem and a genius. They gave me a haircut in tandem, right before closing time, just so they could squeeze me in, turned out great. Check them out, support local business and utilize their awesome talent!

Ron Bauer I have been going to this place for a couple years now. Always good staff and service. Gotta say though, my current stylist is Brandi and she is so good at what she does. Consistently good haircuts quickly and always kind. You really owe it to yourself to give them a try.

Daryl Wade I always use this studio when Im in town for a haircut and beard trim. The staff and stylists are very professional and seem to remember you, even after several months of not being there! They know what you had done the last time you were there and see if thats what you want done again before starting! Friendly, professional atmosphere and comfortable seating while watching a TV if you so choose to!

Brian Keese Jr I’ve been going for a while, but what made me want to write a review finally was how well they handled my two year old son’s first haircut. They were patient, kind, and understanding and did a great job dealing with his anxiety along with ours! Jessica was fantastic to work with and our son has been talking it up all day since. We attempted to go to a kids salon in Lacey and had to walk out because they were so cold towards us and our anxious kiddo. Exact opposite experience here. Thank you!

Hj Hong Sierra was attentive, patient, and so caring when cutting our toddlers hair. We’ve gone to her twice already and am very glad we found someone so nice and sweet to our toddler to cut his hair! I would highly recommend her if you need your toddler or child’s hair cut. I can only imagine how good she is when cutting adults hair!

Crystal Cope I have never been so embarrassed of a hair cut and dye job as I was here; in tears leaving!!! Liz did a HORRIBLE job. The dye was sloppy, not the right color and very spotty all over, including color left on the crown of my head. She cut off nearly 5 inches even when I said to do less! Used a small comb to brush the wet hair, which breaks the strands. No product used to protect my hair when blow-drying. Used a flat iron on wet hair so she could cut even more off! SO MUCH DAMAGE!! When you leave a salon you should feel good about what you paid for, not here! DO NOT GO HERE!!! And yes, I did talk to her about my concerns. She made comments with reasons for her madness and continued to do what she wanted. Time to refresh your education on how to cut hair or just let the professionals do this.

Lori Enos About 6 mos. ago, I decided to perm my hair. My daughter heard about Liz Salon and suggested I try it out. Wow! She is amazing! I get a lot of compliments about my hair! Its been almost 2 months since my last perm and the curls are still there! Liz is very patient and it doesnt take her long to finish my hair, a little over an hour vs. 3-4 hours ( I dont like to sit long at a hair salon!). Check out Liz Salon! Im very happy ii did! *****

DB Warren Mel has been my colorist for years and Ive always been so pleased. My hair is a tough shade of blonde to get right. I wouldnt trust anyone else!

A B I looked for 4 years to find someone to color my hair after I moved from out of state to Washington. I am so happy I found Melissa! She does a fantastic job with my blond and is so personable, I always enjoy my time in her chair. Highly recommend.

Brandi Kight Mely squeezed me into her schedule after a bad haircut elsewhere and she did a fantastic job fixing the butchery! Listened to what I was wanting, knew all the right questions to ask, took time and care to get it right and the conversation was wonderful! She is sweet and fun! The salon is adorable and very clean! Their hair products are amazing! I appreciate this place more than I ever thought I could appreciate a salon but this place exceeds all expectations!!! I will never go anywhere else!

Melita Hansen Jeanann did an amazing job coloring and styling my hair. My hair is difficult in general to color and not damage and she did,as well as giving me tips how to keep it healthy. She has been my stylist for 10+ years. She always listens to what I want and makes it happen. You shouldnt definitely request her, you wont be disappointed!

Lydia LNO I loved the haircut I got from Allie today. She put a lot of attention into my haircut to get it just right. She really listens to me and Im very happy with the results. Plus, i enjoyed our conversation.

Kimberly Romero Lisa is the best hairstylist in Olympia. I love the fact she takes her time with everyone and the professionalism of her knowledge to this industry. I brought my husband to her and gave him the best haircut he had in a while. I will definitely be coming to her for all of my haircuts

Keshia Belmarez I got in at this location last minute about an hour after I called. Lisa was my hair stylist and she is amazing! She was able to get my hair to a light blonde with full foil highlights. I had requested that my dark natural color show through. I had also had some previous growth that had been box dyed soft black several months ago and since grown out. She blended the highlights beautifully and her customer service is excellent! I was able to enjoy conversation as well as coffee and water during my hair session. I usually pay around $300+ dollars for the same service at different hair salons. Professional and experienced work from Lisa for a better price! 10 out of 10 recommend!

James Always a pleasure to have Samantha as my hair stylist. She does a great job, is very intuitive and personable. The salon itself is clean and comfortable.

Jeannie Figueroa I have very thin greying hair. It was very long. I went in with the idea of a cut I had years ago. Samantha was amazing! First off I am partially blind and without knowing that she explain everything before she did it from beginning to end. She pulled out her own phone and found the cut best for my hair type and the cut I ultimately picked. She explained pricing for her suggestions(instead of you cashing out and paying extras. Conversation was involving and not one sided. She is so pleasant that I talked about a tragedy in my life and felt she heard me. The salon is very clean she sanitized ever area we used when we were done. I really like this place and will be returning. Best 5 star customer service in six years at a salon. Thank You Samantha

Jessica I had to cut a clip out of my hair and was missing a chunk from the front. I was able to get in for a cut right away, which was great. Both women working were friendly and professional. I showed a pic of what I was thinking of doing to the young woman who was going to cut my hair. She was very unsure and waited to get the opinion of her coworker. The coworker said I didnt need to go that short. They could take an inch off and then layer it to blend it in. Ok, great. Not what happened. The girl cutting looked totally unsure about what she was doing and kept asking what I thought, hows that look. She could tell I wasnt happy and kept trying to fix it, which just made it worse. I finally said it was fine so I could leave. Please dont cut someones hair if you are unsure of what youre doing.

sandra petrich Had my first haircut here today after moving 8 mos ago from Portland and a stylist I love there. Samantha was Stylist at HM who cut my hair today. I love my cut! She clearly is very experienced (especially with curly hair like mine). I could tell right away she knows what I wanted and how to cut it. I’ve been putting off getting my haircut out of concerns I wouldn’t find anyone near our new home that I could trust as much as my former long term stylist. I feel really great about finding Samantha! Also great customer service, timely, and able to multitask the flow of clients, etc at the nearby front counter without ever making me feel she was distracted or not focused on my cut. Highly recommend her.
