5 /5 Tom, Maple Valley: I had a "service engine" light concern, so I stopped in at AE and spoke with Service Writer Fateh. He brought out their high-end scan tool and ran through my ECM to check for codes. It came up with no problem codes, so Fateh explained how that could happen.
Then, he went online checking for TSBs (technical service bulletins), and records of F150s having similar problems. He found some transmission related issues and explained what they may entail and what to watch for.
All this without a special appointment for an engine diagnostic test that would have delayed me several days, revealed nothing, and cost $100-200 at another local shop.
Fateh was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. He sold me on AE. Based on reviews, it appears the mechanics are top-notch, and thanks to Fateh, Ill give them a try.
