naima reddick Got a medium curly cut from Alexis yesterday. I liked that the consult conversation covered all the bases but didnt take forever. The set up was comfortable and I enjoyed the (add on services) deep condition and hot towel facial. I dont usually go for the extras but honestly, ending the service with a mini facial was an experience I think I will repeate, I felt so luxurious! Im also really happy with my haircut. I wanted short and its hard to find someone who can give you a femme shape with a short length when you have curls. Alexis did a great job of checking in and made adjustments along the way so that I got what I asked for. I think next time Im going even shorter but until then Im super pleased with the results.

J A I received the best haircut I’ve had since I grew my hair long! My natural curls were flat and frizzy. I had no idea what I needed but knew what I wanted as far as ease of upkeep. Alexis gave me a curly cut and a new shape I’d not tried before. I expected to need to go short but she was able to do wonders and kept most of my length. It’s been really easy to maintain and I love the way my curls behave now.

Zach Malinski Ive been getting my hair cut with Alexa for probably close to a year, and Ive always been happy with it. I like a high and tight fade with longer, stylized/combed hair on top. With previous hair stylists at different shops I was never 100% happy with the end result. When I had my first appointment with Alexa and described what I wanted, however, she knew exactly what I was describing and shes never done a bad job. I even entrusted her with my wedding haircut and it was perfect! Alexa is always professional, friendly, and pays attention to even small details that other stylists overlook. Highly recommend!

Shelby Duggan I have had the pleasure of being Taren’s client for the past 10 years. It all started when a coworker of mine got her hair done and it was the most gorgeous shade of dark brown. A truly unique shade that was so dark it looked black in certain lighting. Not only did my coworker look stunning but the color was done so well that it truly looked natural. I had been thinking of dying my hair for the first time and immediately knew I wanted my hair done by the same person! Taren is fun, genuine, and very comfortable to be around. Her salon, Rio Rose, is a wonderful reflection of who she is and how she wants her clients to feel. The salon is always clean and decorated with simple yet unique items that represent her and her fellow stylists. Her ability to listen to my hair concerns and desires and in turn highlight it to perfection, is nothing short of art. Taren has honed and perfected her skills and there has never been a time when I didn’t trust her with my hair. Every time I have an appointment with Taren I leave feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and beautiful. I cannot recommend Taren and her fellow stylists at Rio Rose enough. Prod. Dezii I’ve been going to Diana for 10 years or so and she never fails w my hair needs. I can be quite indecisive and she’s always so patient w me and, of course, works her magic w my hair every single time. I’ve never walked out of the salon feeling disappointed as she is pure genius w her craft. Not only is she super professional but she’s super sweet and always holds space for me when I’m in her chair. Olivia Llorente Wow!! I cant rave enough about my scalp detox service with Sadie. Her salon suite was so cute and clean. The service lasted about an hour and started with a detox scrub for your scalp, a clarifying shampoo, and then a healing hair mask. Finally a scalp massage which was the best thing ever! So relaxing- and who doesnt love a scalp massage?! I cant wait to go back and treat myself again.

yuki masumoto Sadie does such beautiful work! Up until now, I’ve always traveled all the way to the Bay Area to visit salons with Japanese staff, but I’m so glad I took the plunge and came here—it was such a great decision! She’s incredibly skilled at both haircuts and hair care, and her scalp massage is absolutely amazing. it feels incredible‼︎ She really takes the time to focus on each client’s needs, especially for those who are particular about hair care.:)

Diane Mercado I had the best experience in Sharaya’s chair. Not only is she super personable, but she is a hair magician who is professional and experienced. It didn’t even feel like I was in her chair for 3 hours! I haven’t had my hair colored in many years and was super nervous. Let me just say…that she did exactly what I wanted and I LOVE it. Nicole Russell This was my first experience with lightening/highlighting my naturally dark brown hair to a bronde (one of my goals was to camouflage my grays, which had seemed to multiply over the previous year), and even though it has been quite a few weeks since my appointment, I am still admiring Sharayas work every time I see myself in the mirror! I have also received many compliments. I am so glad that I entrusted my hair to Sharaya because she is a true artist who handled me with care. Sharaya gave me a lovely layered haircut; explained every step of her coloring services and whether my goals were realistic for me; consulted me on how light to go; and then gave me an option to go a little darker before the end of the appointment, if desired (I opted to stick with the lighter color). Sharaya also talked me through the next steps for color maintenance and I am excited to go back for a toner appointment. Thank you, Sharaya!!

Jessica and Ryan Meyer This review is long over due…. I came here last year in April (2024) and had a haircut. I have A LOT of hair with coarse texture. I wanted some layers to take out some of the weight. Here I am, almost one year later, still trying to grow out the worst haircut I have ever had in my life. My hair was way over texturized and layered. I even had to chop off my hair short last year right after I saw her bc the cut was SO bad! And it didn’t even fix the super short layers she gave me!! I feel terrible writing this review bc it’s never fun to say this type of thing. Hopefully this will help the stylist and also help anyone who is considering going here!!! Maybe she’s better for easier textures, but unfortunately this was the worst anyone has ever done my hair. Sorry :(

Rozeli Montes Lopez Sharaya is the best! Her haircut skills are impeccable, her attention to detail is unmatched and she always ensures every strand is in perfect place. I’ve been seeing her for years and have done it all. She’s great with color and balayage but also amazing if you’re looking for a low maintenance style. The celestial ambiance of her space enhances the relaxing feel. My favorite part has always been the massage she provides when washing your hair. Thanks Sharaya, not only for demonstrating consistency in the quality of your work but also for providing a safe and comforting space to unwind.

Lizzy Paris I have been in this space so many times for Out the Way on J, which is a monthly intimate showcase of poetry, hip-hop & r&b so I was ecstatic to come to the salon in the daytime and fully experience it as a hair client hehe. & WHAT AN EXPERIENCE IT WAS CHILEEEE! 10 out of 10. 1,000 out of 10, even. The music was setting such a wonderfully calm mood that the plants further expressed. I came in because the shape of my fro as it was growing back was not fit for my face and was just BLAH but my girl Camille took me from blahhh to BLAM! (see photos below) Im in love with the shape of my hair now and my curls are POPPIN! More than anything else Im equipped with the knowledge to keep my hair thriving and hydrated after my service!

Bee Karagadyan Mahogany & Rose was such a joy to walk into. The space alone was so rejuvenating with all of the natural light, plants and calming atmosphere. Denia greeted me with kindness and empathy when I shared that I’ve struggled embracing my natural hair for many years. She explained her entire process as she was caring for my hair and I left my appointment feeling much more confident and thankful for my time spent there. The products that she used are very gentle, organic and non-toxic which was a huge plus for me as well. Camille was also so kind, I noticed how they were both so intentional with spending time with one client at a time. I have a long way to go on my hair healing journey, but am beyond thankful that I found Mahogany & Rose and will be returning again very soon. 10/10 in my book!

Kyler Cosgrove My hair is very thin and due to the last hairstylist I went to it is also shorter than I’d like it to be. I’ve been wanting to get extensions for a while but I had no idea what I was getting into. Jaime allowed me to come in and talk to her for as long as I needed before committing to anything. Kathryn Marwitz Im so glad I hired Jaime Dupard for my bridal hair and makeup! I was looking for a local stylist who works with curly gals and who didnt have a really high minimum number of services needed to book. I got so lucky finding Jaime! We spoke on the telephone for a consultation and she sent me a very organized proposal. I knew I wouldnt be having bridesmaids for my wedding and it was so helpful that Jaime was able to accommodate me without requiring me to book 6+ services. We did a hair/makeup trial at her studio in Sacramento a few months before the wedding where Jaime took detailed notes, photos, and we discussed any potential tweaks. A few weeks before the wedding, we had a final phone call and prepared an exact timeline. On the day of the wedding, she traveled to me. She allocated plenty of time for my hair and makeup and it turned out amazing! I got compliments on my hair all night and I loved how we embraced my curls which helped me feel like myself. My makeup stayed put for the 6 hours before my ceremony started including during photos in the heat, and looked great even at the end of the night. Jaime also took care of my moms hair and makeup for the wedding and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend Jaime for your bridal hair/makeup. She is professional, caring, and you can tell she wants to make her brides feel beautiful for their special day. Her communication was great and I felt confident working with her.

Karen I’ve been seeing Cayla for all my colorful hair needs for over 3 years. With her extensive knowledge and expertise, she skillfully executes whatever I envision for my hair. I don’t live in Sacramento anymore, but I will travel in just to work with her! Would highly recommend Cayla and any of the others at Mane and Soul. They are a wonderful and welcoming group of talented individuals.

Symone The salon itself is beautifully decorated with fun art pieces while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic. The stylists and entire atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. Also fully stocked with a number of great products for all types of hair and concerns. I was happy to see how clean the displays were! I met with Lily for a color correction. She was extremely knowledgeable and patient. She even invited me to sit in their pretty patio area while my hair processed. As far as Lily’s skill goes, I had a bleaching disaster that was covered with a “halo effect” style. She striped the black from my hair to recover what blonde I had, touched it up and made sure the color blended/matched my money pieces. She finished with a beautiful short and layered haircut. Lily truly is a gem. She makes every moment personable and leaves a big impression on her clients. Making sure you are happy and “feeling like yourself again.” ETA: progress photos and an update since last visit! Haven’t visited Lily since April and still in love w/ my color. She’s a rockstar honestly.

Hailey C I saw Lily. She was great. Very knowledgeable, friendly and gentle. She listened to what I needed and my hair looks fantastic. She also had product recommendations, but was not pushy, which I really appreciated! I will be going back!

Matthew Maddie was absolutely fantastic with my daughter. She took the time and really discussed my daughters vision with her, helping show h how things would look for after executing the cut and really making sure my daughter was Happy with every step along the way. Afterwards, she even took extra time to hold my daughter with basic hair care advice and maintenance in a way that was far more impactful than what Id been able to provide as a parent. This was a major change in appearance for my daughter, and Maddie made it a memorable, positive transformation.

Dena Shulruff I had color consults with a few hairstylists before deciding Heather was my best choice. Not only did she respond to my inquiry, which let me say most people I reached out to did not respond to me. So firstly, she responded and offered a consultation in person with a patch test for a new color line she has that is doing well for people like me, with scalp sensitivity. I stopped coloring my hair two years ago due to developing welts on my scalp. The other consults didn’t think they could do what I asked, which was foiling the color to keep it from over saturating my scalp. I thought hmmm that seems simple enough so maybe they just don’t get it or don’t have enough experience. Well Heather immediately understood and also spent a good 30 minutes with me in conversation with hair color samples, photos, a mirror, and eventually a patch test on multiple spots on my scalp in places you’d never notice. It didn’t burn at all so we moved forward. I liked that she gave me her opinion on what would look good and what would wash me out. I have had too many hairstylists go super warm on me and my skin tone is quite cool & neutral, and never felt like it looked right. We also agreed that ashy was a bad idea too. I wanted grey blending with some dimension, I didn’t care that I had grey but that too much of it wasn’t flattering, so we decided on incorporating my natural color rather than color all of it- also because it would grow out nicely and I’m pretty low maintenance with hair care. She did a beautiful job creating a subtle soft change that made a huge impact on the overall look, giving me back hair color that enhance my eyes and skin tone, that still looks like me- just better. Thank you Heather!

Forter Isabelle (Isabelle) I had my cut and color done; when I left I still had hair dye around my scalp and for days after. The cut was not what I shared - i showed pics. The studio is nice but otherwise stylists was not good at all

Samantha Anderson Rhapsody Hair is the cutest little salon. The ambiance is so cozy and inviting! I booked appointments for my whole family (Mom, Dad, son 11 and Daughter 9) with Randee. She was absolutely amazing!! So kind and inviting! She is definitely a pro at what she does! My husband and son both have difficult hair with multiple cowlicks and we gave her creative freedom to do what she thought would be best with their hair type and she nailed it! Both boys left extremely happy with their cuts. My daughters hair inspiration was Taylor Swift and she left so happy with her cut and style! My cut is perfect too! Randee wears a mask at all times and has her air purifier going which is very appreciated! Overall it was a wonderful experience! I highly recommend Randee and Rhapsody Hair!

Karli Lauren was so much more than I ever expected! She was so friendly, kind, understanding, and incredibly helpful! I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted, had an idea for the haircut but coloring I was very unsure of. Lauren helped me find a color I was comfortable with and by the end, it looked exactly like what my hair used to look like before it started darkening. Lauren was so welcoming and everyone in the salon was so real and amazing! You gained a customer for life and I’m so glad I came to this salon, the recommendation was on point and I’m so glad I chose Lauren and her salon for my biggest hair experience yet! Erin Rosien Lauren has worked absolute magic on my hair! I am very particular about who I come to for hair services since my hair is thick and on the curlier/wavy side, but she has exceeded expectations every time. She allowed me to ask as many questions as I wanted and was always supportive and provided as much information as I needed. Plus the vibes of the salon are immaculate!
