L.M. Ive heard patient care has gone downhill. Im not surprised if their abysmal and callous disregard of visitor health and welfare is anything to go by. On Sunday, they send visitors through the ER! The ER, where people are coming with multiple communicable diseases at this time of year, including the possibility of TB, Covid, Measles, colds, and definitely FLU! Poor ventilation. Crowded conditions. They require you to get security clearance standing in a long line in the presence of sick patients. I waited in line for several minutes and the line went nowhere. What is this hospital trying to do? Drum up business by exposing visitors and then patients through the visitors, to multiple illness? APALLING disregard for health and safety for everyone. What, just to save some money on staff? All theyd need is ONE security person at the other door. Instead they play games with peoples health and lives like its a round of Roulette. I gave up and left, but if I get sick, I know who is to blame!!!

Lizdmca Worst hospital ever. Been here since 12 it is past 5pm. Been seen by a nurse and had a CT. No updates no room, waiting room of the ER had been full since we got here. There is one awesome nurse going above and beyond doing the best she can but with over 50 people in here and no real time dedicated to you or any one person you are passed on to the next person to explain everything all over again and then sent out to the waiting room for the next step. Ive been in ERs that I thought were bad, but Id take a 2 hour wait from start to finish than going on 6 hours with musical chairs and no results or diagnosis or discharge.

The Crafty DM My father is currently in Emanuel for a broken left hip everything has gone smoothly until they scheduled surgery the procedure has been delayed 4 times in total first for room schedule issues it was postponed a day then on the next day of the surgery it was postponed twice because of time over runs of other procedures. It was not until my father was finally set to have the procedure that the anesthesia team canceled the procedure because of one of my father’s medications for Parkinson’s can cause complications and now he needs to be off the medication two days until they can perform the proceed. As I was told by the Surgeon this procedure is most effective if performed within 48 hours but now it’s not going to be done till over 5 days since the injury. I blame the anesthesia team for incompetence for not doing proper review of my father’s medication day one when the procedure was scheduled. This is no way to care for a frail 90 year old man with Parkinson’s. This review may change pending the final results but I can’t help but feel someone should answer for this Incompetence.

David Windsor Update: It appears my original review finally got someone to respond after three years of silence. However, what followed has been far from helpful.
First, it’s worth noting that the “10% of income” policy is not a state or federal law—correct me if I’m wrong—but just because it’s their policy doesn’t mean they should get to enforce it so rigidly.
After three years of ignoring my wife, Emanuel Hospital suddenly requested a mountain of documentation—much of which feels unnecessarily invasive—to prove we can’t afford this staggering bill. To make matters worse, they gave us only a few days to gather it all together. Funny how they move quickly when it’s convenient for them, but it took years for them to even acknowledge us.
Now, they’ve thrown another hurdle at us: demanding we prove we’ve spent at least $6,500 on medical bills or expenses just to qualify for assistance. Excuse me? After years of dragging their feet, they’re now setting arbitrary requirements that seem designed to make it as difficult as possible for struggling families to get help.
This process has been an exercise in frustration and disillusionment. Emanuel Hospital, if you truly care about your patients and community, it’s time to revisit not only your policies but how you treat those who come to you for help.
Original review: If you can avoid this facility, I strongly recommend doing so. My wife and I were in the area nearly three years ago for work, and she felt the need to visit this facility to confirm a potential pregnancy, despite my advice to wait until we returned to our home state, where we had access to an affordable doctor. Instead, we came here and were told to return multiple times for “more tests.”
Now, three years later, we’re faced with a $43,000 bill for what? She spent 98% of her time in the waiting room, and over three days, she saw the doctor for maybe a total of 30 minutes. How is this even legal? To make matters worse, they offered a “reduced” bill of $30,000, as if that’s an amount we could easily pay. No wonder this place has such poor reviews.
I truly hope a class action lawsuit happens here—this is beyond ridiculous. My wife was denied any financial assistance simply because we’re married. So what? We rely on a single income while working and traveling. We needed that help.

Patricia of Tuesday march 14 2023 7pm to 7am is another perfect example of rude behavior towards my mother. Can’t wait to meet her!!
The assisting nurse is Sonia who has been very nice and attentive to my mothers needs. The nursing staff I think are on a 12 hour shift then possibly a 3 or 4 day work week. And then I’m sure there’s mandatory overtime because at times I think they are understaffed.
So that being said I can understand why nurses may forget or simply just don’t have time to attend to every patient’s requests.
However I feel that communication is the key. Honest communication and not empty promises. And then that being said. My mother’s RN is Natalie today, the second day I’ve seen her work with my mom. One notable quality I’ve seen is that Natalie is unable to smile. Not once has this girl shown any type of cheerfulness in her job. Even her voice is very monotone. But that just may be the place she’s in her life’s struggle. I say struggle because she doesn’t seem very happy while doing her job. But that is no reason for letting her patients suffer for her inequities. But again I don’t know her. I am only going by example through her services to my mother. Perhaps others are receiving excellent nursing care from her.
And that being said I noticed other nurses who show the same type of attitude. As if the patients are bothering them or impeding on their day making it difficult for them to do their job. This type of job I feel requires a sense of humanity and a humbleness that will allow them to have feelings for the patients who are suffering in pain or discomfort. My mother did not want to be here. She did not make reservations and book a room for vacation at the Emmanuel Medical Center. This is where the ambulance brought her during a heart attack. We are grateful to the paramedics for saving her life.
The next step is to get her back home. The hospital is working on this but it takes time. Meanwhile I can only be here at my mothers side to ensure her comfort while she’s here.
So that being said if you have a family or loved one that has to be at this hospital be vigilant and watch and ask about everything be done. Medications and treatments all have to be scrutinized with the staff so that the correct care is given to the correct patient.
