Joe Bond Over the years I have experienced nothing but disappointment in the physicians that I have had. Most it seemed viewed me as a product rather than a patient and a person. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED any of this at Direct primary care. They care not just about my general health but all the factors surrounding it, relationships, job, stress and all that goes into who I am. I am not just treated as a patient but a valuable person with input into my healthcare, my cares are taken into consideration. All at Direct Primary Care give their best every time I visit.

laurie carnal This practice is nothing short of stellar. They provide health care for several generations of our family, from my 3 year-old grandson to my 80 year-old father. They make themselves available, both in person and via phone, offering many things in-office that other providers typically refer out. When we were unhappy and concerned with the lack of care our elderly father was receiving at a skilled nursing facility, we signed him up with SC Direct Primary care. Dr. Rodems went far above and beyond to advocate for him and ensure he was cared for, including visiting him on-site, attending care plan meetings, visiting him in the hospital, collaborating with various hospital and skilled nursing staff and basically being a badass boss when we felt helpless. Her heart and soul are in this work. Despite that fact that we have health insurance, we continue to see both Dr. Yarme and Dr Rodems due to convenience, cost savings (no co-pay, access to inexpensive prescriptions) and exceptional quality of care. We cant say enough about what a comfort this is to our family.

Gabrielle McGrew A family member of mine with a complicated medical situation recently established care with Dr. Yarme. We have been so impressed with Dr. Yarmes bedside manner, expertise and coordination with multiple specialists. He has spent large amounts of time with my family explaining the medical issues and making sure that each aspect of my family members care (discomfort, future studies, mental health aspects of the condition, etc) is addressed thoroughly.

Donald Steiny I have been using Palo Alto Medical Foundation for about 15 years. I consider them the Cadilac of medical services. They have a full range of specialists, and my PCP is awesome. So far, I have not run into any issues I hear others complain about at other medical practices.

Bunny Pellegrino-Sotelo My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Johsens for 20+ years and admire his integrity and loyalty to his patients. He has always been very caring, approachable and available. He has seen us through our ups and downs and I cant imagine better care from another doctor. His office staff is awesome and uplifting! Love my doctor!

Sam Bertuca Dr. Johsens is a very caring and kind physician. He is easy to talk to and is interested in helping his patients keep well. I like him very much. What I dont care for is the MDVIP program that he is affiliated with. If it helps him to practice good medicine then I guess its OK, but I think he would be just fine without it.

Brian Spencer I have always found Dr. Johsens to be very helpful and willing to listen. Some of the problems Ive thrown at him have been a puzzle to both of us, but Ive never felt that he was losing interest in the problems even without a solution or possible cause. I feel that he gives me good care that comes from his knowledge and understanding and that he will do personal research into personal puzzles. He is a good doctor and a good person.

Claudia Marshall Dr. Karl Johsens has been my personal physician for approximately 20 years, long before he became affiliated with MDVIP. He is not only a superb diagnostician, but a kind, thoughtful man who is always generous with his time and truly listens to everything I say to him. He knows me well and responds to my emotional needs as well as my physical. His staff is always warm and welcoming, as well as very knowledgable. I highly recommend Dr. Johsens to any person, of any age, as the most competent physician I have ever known.

Sally Jones Dr. Johsens and staff are caring and professional in the treatment of their patients . Rapid response to patients and referrals.Excellent coordination of care if needed. Dr Johsens, is also a researcher .I would cut back in other areas of life in order to maintain my patient status with Dr. Johsens. For many reasons, medical care is frustrating, and lacks coordination. I do not experience that at all!! A great big thank you to Dr. Johsens and staff.

Robbin Martinez There was only 2 nurses out of 5-6 nurses that “ cared “ for me during my life changing experience here at sutter maturity center. If I could go back & have my baby at Dominican I would just because of the way the nurses treated me. I’m not sure if it was because of my last name or what but they were awful towards me & my family. Never offered me ANYTHING ever. I had to ask for more water or ask to take a shower or ask for help to go to the bathroom & when I did, they acted like they didn’t want to. I asked 4 different times for another beanie for my baby & never got one. They were very pushy & just rude. The only thing I’m greatful for is my baby being here safe & healthy. I wish I remembered the 2 nurses that really helped me so I could thank them. Other than that. If you’re Latina, my advice go to a different place to give birth.

Roseanna Arias The postpartum care I received from Nurses Jenna, Michelle W, Adele & Selam helped me transition into motherhood. They all were super attentive, funny, sarcastic (responding to my humor) and provided extra support knowing my mental health/trauma history. They listened to any concerns or discomfort I had & advocated for me when needed. If I were to have another baby, I would hope to see these ladies again. They were rockstars.

Lacey Mitchell I had a nice experience with my first child. Didn’t care for the doctors much but the other staff and facility was fantastic. However, this second time around, I went to go back and had my first ultrasound and a video visit with a midwife. I then received a $500 bill, and we found out when we received that bill that Sutter doesn’t accept our insurance (which hadn’t changed since the first birth). I get it, we should have looked into this. But I birthed there less than two years ago and didn’t think anything would have changed. I also thought the staff, whom asked for my insurance cards 2-3 times, would have informed me that we were no longer in network. We called and of course got the “sorry we can’t help you” answer, so now are stuck with a $750 bill for a video visit and ultrasound. And of course had to find a new provider. I just don’t understand how it’s okay for them to just take our insurance and not even mention we aren’t in network. But they got paid, guess that’s all that matters to them.

Arch theArch Had three wonderful births here i am blessed for that but please do not have staff have nails there specifically allowed to check cervix… there was one nurse with short nails and my gosh it hurt so bad when she was checking my cervix. The glove could have ripped and it could have gave me and the baby infection. Thankfully i told her your nails hurt even tho she got offended and was only checked by nurses without acrylic nails. It hurt bad.

Kevin K Dr. Fleck has created a miracle here. The first time I met her she looked at me and was able to intuit exactly what I was lacking in my health regimen. Shes gifted and the entire office reflects it. I cant recommend this place more vigorously for those who are feeling a lack of energy or joy in life. If youre feeling run down, pay them a visit.

xora snow While this clinic does offer doctors with three times as much training, and they went out of the way to try to make it feel less sterile, you could find yourself disappointed by the cold and sterile detached and indifferent doctor who wants to repeat the sales pitch for her practice rather than listen and explain how she has had success with her treatments. The receptionist is so nice, you might be fooled into thinking that the doctors will be as compassionate and gracious. They are not. The main doctor will go on with her sales pitch, make sure you understand they charge a lot of money and they want to make sure you can pay. They do not take insurance. I got the feeling they have figured out how to charge a lot more and if they dont take on anyone with any real sickness, then they look like they have a great track record. So you can go here for a free fifteen minute consultation and maybe you will be lucky and she wont suddenly be so booked up shes not taking any more patients for a really really long time... which begs the questoin, why did this person waste my time if they have no openings? It was a huge waste of time and embarrassing too. Going in and presenting your problems to a doctor and having her go from "accepting new patients" to " no room for you and your family " in fifteen minutes.. I guess finding a doctor who cares is like trying to find a garbage man who smells nice. It just doesnt work like that.

Suzy Smith- Debenedetti I had sinus surgery 2 weeks ago with Dr Teng. I am so happy I did it. He was so thorough, and fixed 3 things for me. He was kind, gentle, and so smart. I highly recommend that you use the sinus rinse bottle 4 times a day. Youll be so happy you did. I am so thankful to Dr Teng, hes my nasal hero. I have been miserable for years with a cycle of sinus infections, ear infection and constant nasal congestion. He fixed that for me and I couldnt be happier. Hes a great Dr. Sue D.

Annie Youmans I recently went to Santa Cruz Ear, Nose and Throat Group, and I couldnt have been more satisfied with the experience. The office itself is clean and roomy, and all the front desk employees were welcoming, efficient, and seemed to be happy. The nurses, Doctor Spilman and audiologist Ruth Kaspar were not only knowledgable and professional, but they were also very supportive and friendly. I went definitely recommend this medical office to anyone looking for specialized medical support.

L Nostrant I have been with Dr Kelly for 9 years. She is caring and compassionate. Takes time to listen. Always has suggestions for natural remedies like yoga for reducing stress and aches/pains, but not against prescribing drugs if you need them. If I ask a question on the Patient Portal she gets back to me right away. Highly recommend.

Rob Perica Love how new the office is. The staff is super friendly and I was seen immediately, even though I was a few minutes late! As part of my visit I got three vaccinations and four blood draws. It was over so quickly. I really enjoyed the expertise of the nurse and the effortlessness of the entire experience. Five stars

Lauren Owen Kaiser is and always has been amazing to me. With my prior insurance, I would have to wait on the phone line for an hour to try to schedule an appointment with my doctor which would be 6 months out. With Kaiser I can send an email or call in, and 5 minutes later I have an appointment for tomorrow. Medication is way more affordable. $10 versus $600 elsewhere. Also Kaisers more organized about recordkeeping and all the doctors know about other doctors Ive seen and my results. I find them to be kind and caring. Its true that you have to stay at Kaiser offices but if you have an ER grade emergency you can go to any non-Kaiser hospital and they will cover it.

Tom McDonnell I was a patient at Dominican three times for two different issues in roughly a month — from the end of September through early November. I know that the doctors, nurses and technicians saved my life twice. From the caring, skillful treatment in the ER, to the OR, to post-op recovery, everyone performed their tasks skillfully with kindness. I especially want to highlight the nurse in recovery who had to deal with my several post-op issues and got me through a few concerning moments. Almost 4 months later, I’m doing great!

Kathy Werle Poorest care I can imagine. Went the post fall for sciatica: I could not transfer, stand, or walk even with aids. Could hear bones I knew were broken in my sacrum rubbing together when I tried to move. Was medicated for pain in the ER and was really out of it. Waited on a gurney in a hallway where many were coughing and hacking, and was not offered a mask so I kept the blankets over my face. A CT with contrast was ordered, not the MRI I would expect for sciatica, and was told I could go home. Drugged, I figured I couldn’t be any more miserable at home than I was there. I asked for muscle relaxants because I started having spasms in both my butt and low abdomen. Two nurses had to lift me onto a w/c and commode at 7:30 am and when I got out there was another patient in my bed. I hadn’t even called to wake up the neighbor who said she could pick me up and had hoped to get at least a brief sleep before being unceremoniously dumped into a waiting room. When my neighbor arrived there was no one to assist me into the car so Claire had to lift me alone and set me down across the back seat. I had one Rx for muscle spasms, nothing for pain, no Medrol pack.I lost significant muscle mass and strength over the next two weeks so my daughter from San Diego flew me there where I finally got an MRI and Medrol pack. I am not part of the Sharp medical system yet saw three different doctors until I could stand to transfer three weeks later and walk with a walker a week after that. Was the ER unusually understaffed? Why didn’t someone divert the ambulance if there wasn’t even assess me? My discharge note said clearly that two people were required to transfer me, yet they sent me home to our trailer in the mountains to be cared for by my 80 year old, blind husband. I have fired hospital staff and dismissed nursing students for far less grievous behavior. I don’t intend to return to your hospital-ever. This visit cost me over two weeks of lying in a reclining chair with constant pain. Apparently the teledoc I saw the following week hadn’t heard of Medrol packs because when I specifically asked for prednisone to deal with the sciatica, now in both buttocks and right leg, she elected without discussion to order a 5-day lower dose course, and it didn’t work.

Phil Neuman We had a frustrating experience at Dominican due to multiple communication and scheduling issues. It took seven days to get necessary orders from the orthopedic doctor to interventional radiology, which was only resolved when one department manually faxed the request to another. An MRI was scheduled, but on the day of the appointment, all technicians had called in sick, so it was canceled. A kyphoplasty procedure was eventually scheduled for a week later, but the pain became so unbearable that we had to go to the ER two days before the procedure. She was admitted until they could do the procedure. The ER staff was attentive and helpful, but unfortunately, the hospitalist covering the weekend failed to hand off to the regular hospitalist. As a result, no doctor visited all day Monday while she was in short-term stay care. On the morning of the scheduled procedure, the radiologist discovered that she had been given breakfast, which should not have happened before the procedure. Only then did the new hospitalist get involved, acknowledging that she had fallen through the cracks. While some staff members were excellent, the overall lack of communication and delays made an already difficult situation much worse. Unfortunately, we are still waiting to receive the MRI. Hoping the hospital addresses these issues to prevent similar experiences for others.

Maureen Wilks I went to emergency by ambulance in the evening.I had x-rays and was told I broke my wrist and my patella. The doctor on duty asked if I could go home by taxi. I could not walk and was afraid to go home alone. This was around 10 or 11 at night. I laid in the hallway on a gurney For 24 hours. The ER was very busy and there was no room for me. The ladies from the x-ray department as they got off shift, checked in on me and wished me well. I pretty much was on my own all night. It seemed very busy and they were shortstaffed. The light of my experience was the next morning when a nurse came in and saw me in the hallway. She constantly checked on me all day to make sure I was comfortable. Her name was Heather And I want to thank her for being so compassionate.

Kolleen Ledterman Last August I went to the ER, I was unable breath. A Pulmonologist quickly put a tube to drain all the fluid that collected around my lungs. Later that day the hospitalist, Dr. Hernandez admitted me and basically followed me for the next few weeks, what a wonderful, witty doctor. He really made my stay smooth and a lot easier than past visits. I ended up in the hospital for 17 days and left there as a dialysis patient. My kidneys took stopped working. A big huge shoutout to the compassionate and kind Dr Hernandez. thank you so much!!

Joy Rush I’ve been through a course of infusions and presently starting another. In all my visits, there was unprecedented kindness, helpfulness, compassion and concern. They’re responsive and caring in every step of the process. Their concern for my comfort was laudable even on busy days. I have nothing but appreciation for their skill and dedication to patient care.

Steve Hungerford absolutely one of the worst and least compassionate places your loved one can end up. They even make up lies in the medial records that can hurt your loved one from receiving the proper evaluation and care they may benefit from. They never answer their phone. Beware of Amanda Bryner.

Jeffrey Hotchkiss Dr. Eric Hohn, MD took amazing care in the repair of my severely broken clavicle bone. I took a big hit from a teenage snowboarder that sent me into shock and down the hill in the Medic sled. Dr. Hohn took one look at the x-ray and got me into surgery two days later, straightened out my drooping shoulder and added a reinforcement plate. It feels like it’s going to be stronger than ever. Bradley Alerich I went to see Dr. Hohn for a clear case of clavicle reduction surgery. In the process it was discovered that the upper humerus had low blood flow that developed into important but hard to diagnose necrosis. I feel it was nothing short of a miracle that he was able to make that diagnosis and provide treatment during the same surgery. His confidence and expertise on that issue gave me reassurance that everything would work out. That was two years ago and not only has everything worked out but my arm has been steadily improving to the point where it’s 100% or more of what it was prior to the injury. I truly can’t say enough about this surgeon and his skill.

Ken Strickling Dr. Welle always shoots straight. Sometimes not what I want to hear. He knows what can and what cannot be done. He is a true gem as a family man. You see it on all his walls as well as I see it on the Physician"s I have surrounded my self with. He does his best to relieve my pain and shows concern. Naomi Gardner Im a physically active 63 yr. old female. Love to mt. bike, ski, and hike. After a year plus of pain in right knee I had an MRI which showed an Acute medial meniscus tear in right knee. I was referred to Dr. Welle by my primary care physician. Once I decided to do the surgery I was well attended to by his entire team. Dr. Welle was cordial and spent time answering my questions. Yesterday was my surgery. I was very happy with the entire Sutter surgery unit. Everyone was polite and professional and I felt very at ease. So far so good! They sent me home with photos that show a very clean repair of my meniscus. Fingers crossed Ill be hiking again this next summer with no pain. I definitely would recommend Dr. Welle.

William Purdy Dont give 5 starts haphazardly. Dr. Welle has been my ortho physician for years. He has a quiet competent/confidence. His surgical work in my case has produced excellent results.

Paul P While I cant speak to Dr. Welles skills as a surgeon, I can say Ive met with him several times about my knee issues and left feeling satisfied with my visits. Dr. Welle has a no nonsense type demeanor and always takes the time to discuss my diagnoses and treatment options. I never felt rushed or pressured to have surgery. Very professional orthopedic surgeon.

Benjamin Idini I have been trying to obtain primary care from this institution since early December, 2022. They gave me an appointment for mid February, but they cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. They are now offering me a new appointment for May, 2023. Six months of wait to access primary care seems excessive. Is this the norm for this place?

Laurie Smith I am so sick of the lack of responsiveness and high prices of this group. I hate that they have such a monopoly in Santa Cruz. I have raging cystitis and have not been able to get my prescription refilled or had an opportunity to talk with an advice nurse, after being told that I would be called back yesterday. GRRRRRR. And as an HSA holder, I can NEVER get a quote on what a service may cost. Even when I call billing. they cant tell me what things will cost. What a mess.

Chris Sterbenc Their X-Ray department is awesome. If you do a walk-in, the average wait time is around 5-10 minutes. Super friendly staff, also.

Daniellera We have been with Palo Alto Medical Foundation in Santa Cruz for 15 years, and our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The level of care and professionalism from the staff has consistently met our expectations. Dr. Block, Dr. Sidell, and Dr. Mauff are truly exceptional doctors. They go above and beyond for their patients, taking the time to listen, explain, and provide the best possible care. Their expertise and compassionate approach make all the difference, and we feel fortunate to have them as part of our healthcare team. One challenge with PAMF is that they are so overwhelmed with patients that it can take a long time to get an appointment unless you’re already an established patient. However, I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue seeing these amazing doctors for my youngest children and for the smooth onboarding process for the new kiddos. While no medical organization is perfect, these doctors have been a reliable and trusted provider for our family over the years. We appreciate the quality of care we’ve received and highly recommend these outstanding doctors to anyone looking for dedicated and knowledgeable medical professionals.

Azul River We had to come here for an unexpected medical visit. They were great and got us on our way. They who worked out some insurance issues because we are from out of the state. Great place .

Donna Hall My daughter entered into Elevate Addiction Services and I was told this was a medical detox. Yes and No. On her second day when she was in a lot of pain and sick, they transported her to Dr. Steins office, 30 minutes away. Shes only "seen" him once and he never contacted her regular or pain medicine doctors. A nurse visits the facility twice a week. Shes been there over a month now. Beginning to wonder if this is just a cash cow for him.

Katy mc Dowell Dr Stein is an excellent doctor! My patients use him and we’ve been working with them for the past 10 years I highly recommend him. He’s very good with people struggling with anxiety depression and addiction. He’s been the Medical Director over lots of treatment facilities and hospitals for over 30 years and has a lot of experience and proven track record. Mr Awesome I’m a huge fan of Dr Stein. I’ve been seeing him for about seven years and I’ve always found him to be warm, compassionate, caring, effective, funny. I actually enjoy and look forward to our meetings. I have not had great experiences with some of the other addiction medicine specialists in the area. Some are insanely expensive, one guy was super creepy. Dr Stein just seems to me like a normal guy who likes his job and wants to help.

Courtney Guadamuz This Dr. is an amazing, rare intellectual who intuitively and critically understands his field. For example, I have a chronic illness I managed since 12, which caused scoliosis and hemiplegic migraines (stroke like) and a plethora of other health concerns. I also have an acute injury (ruptured acl) requiring surgery. I’ve had a history of anxiety and ADHD and been diagnosed since I was a child. Because of other prescribers not being of the caliber to prescribe certain medication or prescribe it properly, the burden of big pharama bureaucracy is usually put on the patient and they suffer. This Dr. knew a magic combination after trying so many things, for years, and it’s definitely made an improvement with my mental ability to cope with chronic pain, (not necessarily the physical pain) but I am not being treated for that right now. He’s helped control my general anxieties when left untreated, morph into other undesirable behaviors. He has also simultaneously been able to balance my adhd without compromising the other treatment. People with dual diagnosis and chronic pain can be truly emotionally affected and he is compassionate, goes over everything, is responsible and checks all bases. Most of all he knows what he is doing. Addressing the comments on pricing, everything is expensive. I was going to socialized medicine Dr.‘s and guess what, they made mistake after mistake, they rx’d meds I was allergic to, and were hardly Dr.’s most of the time I have as seeing a PA, which if I were lucky, I would get an NP. Which is closer to a nurse and has more formal prior training than a new PA. What he Dr. Stein charges is definitely not expensive if you truly have emotional disorders, and need a good Psychiatrist who you can not only trust, but trust their knowledge. If you want suboxone I know that’s handed out like candy, so sure get that from socialized medicine. If you have a serious dual diagnosis, go see Dr. Stein. I am by no means able to pay for the treatment on my own, but I have family help, and I’m sure if you can afford him you can get help from the county to pay for his services is imperatively necessary. Marc Whitehill I called to establish care for an 8 year suboxone pt. This office is prohibitively expensive. Including meds and the MD vst. the first month will cost between $600 and $800 and then monthly maintenance will cost $375-500. Its cheaper to shoot heroin. Also, the office demonstrated no ability to individualize their care for each individual patient. Look elsewhere....

Jason Morvay Dr Ciara Harraher performed a Microdiscectomy on me for a herniated disc in March of 2021 and there was instant relief after what was 30 days of unbearable pain radiating from my r-glute to my toes. Initially my primary care physician thought the pain was caused by sciatica, which has similar symptoms, but once I determined physical therapy wasnt improving my situation, he referred me to Dr Harraher who identified the problem, provided the best solution, and her team got me in for her to do surgery almost immediately. I went into Dominicans Surgery Center an absolute mess and walked out of there a new person! I cant give Dr Harraher enough kudos on her bedside manor, her staffs attentiveness, and the fantastic results from my microdiscectomy. Im in my 7th week of physical therapy at Precision and my painless recovery is absolutely awesome! I was super active prior to the herniated disc but had to completely stop because of pain. Additionally, I was only sleeping about 3 hours per night on average and after a month of lack of sleep and no physical activity I was a shell of a person. Now Im in a great mood, Im sleeping 7 hours a night, and back to living life to post herniated disc, pain free... riding my bike again, taking long walks, and performing all my normal activities effortlessly, plus Im way more fun to be around for my family! Thanks so much Dr Harraher, Viana, and Megan! Life is wonderful again!!!

Leslie Ryan I was going through one of the worst times of my life with the pain I was experiencing from a severely herniated disc, truly unable to function. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Harraher, Vania, and all of their staff by being so understanding, their communication and information, and how quickly I was able to get in for surgery. I felt immediate relief waking up from the anesthesia after the surgery and have had no issues whatsoever since. I appreciate the professionalism and efficiency that their office provides and although probably was not the easiest patient during that time, I always felt supported and cared for.

andrew lumpe The office staff were some of the most rude people Ive ever interacted with in a doctors office. At times I was talking to them rather than the actual doctor about my medical condition - very unethical. They always acted put out and unprofessional. I did not have doctors undivided attention. This was a 2nd opinion. She didnt offer a clear diagnosis but proposed some possible issues. She suggested an experimental procedure she had never done on a live patient before. I was hesitant but needed relief. Insurance denied the request at first for not providing evidence of conservative treatment or imaging documentation of the problems which she clearly had. Three levels of appeals and still denied. There was no follow up directly with doctor but only a rude call from office staff about not knowing what to do next and that if insurance didnt approve that, they wouldnt approve anything. I finally went for third opinion in Los Angeles, the surgeon quickly and clearly pinpointed the issues, suggested a common surgery to correct the problems, and I got insurance approval immediately.

Jessica Keenum Very helpful staff, planning to have micro lumbar disc surgery soon, staff kept asking if I had any questions about my upcoming surgery, and when there was an issue with my insurance, they worked extra hard to get to the solution even staying over late and coming in early to call Anthem. Im a RN at Dominican Hospital and she is the back doctor most of the staff uses, that says something. The guy in another review that said he had cervical fractures and had a bad experience, first of all, he would be paralyzed if he truly had cervical fractures. I think hes mistaken lol.

Sarah Fletcher Great experience - considering that colonoscopy prep/procedures are not “fun.” All staff onsite from the front desk to the nurses and doctor were super kind, professional, quick yet thorough, and explained things extremely well. I was nervous, being my first time, and they made me feel as comfortable as one can be.

Taylor Buck Was referred to this office by my doctor to be seen for ongoing issue Ive been dealing with causing me to not be able to walk or work, was told I would be contacted within a week of the referral, was never contacted, I called them and told them i needed an emergency appointment to be scheduled and was told they need my insurance information, so I gathered that together and tried calling back and got no answer, I left a voice-mail asking to be called back as soon as possible and never got a call back! I tried calling multiple times to get no answer and to be told my "call cant be completed cause party is busy" and not able to leave another voicemail, I called the office today, over a week after my initial call and voice-mail and 3-4 days after I last tried calling and was met with an immediate attitude by the receptionist and told my issue isnt something they take seriously and that they wouldnt have any openings to see me for 3-4 weeks and it has already been 3 weeks since I saw my doctor and was told I would get referred! This office does not care about patients and only cares when patients have money and willing to pay top dollar for visit! Do not go to this office or schedule an appointment unless your willing to have your pain not taken seriously and your health and well being valued! Will be filing a major complaint for malpractice due to negligence and lack of care about patients physical well being!

Steve Lim On being referred to Brian Waddle by my primary at Dignity Health because SAMB is the only outsource they (Dignity) have on contract for my hernia removal, I went to my first office visit with Waddle during which he asked when my last colonoscopy was (14 yrs ago), looked at my lower abdominal area for two seconds from his chair six feet away (I stood up and dropped my pants partially to expose my right front), and after some banter about the hernia op, told me to schedule with his assistant at the front desk a colonoscopy, a post-op consult for that, a hernia removal, and a post-op consult for that. Both ops would be under general anesthesia. Over this three-month period (July-September) Id also be undergoing a Urolift prostate procedure with my urologist (Dignity) under general anesthesia. My summer 2023: prostate op-postop-colonoscopy-postop-hernia op-postop. I was nervous about undergoing three rounds of general anesthesia over three months. A day before my colonoscopy while feeling anxious about the general anesthesia and the op, I received a text message from SAMB, not to go through what to expect and allay my anxiety, but to tell me to bring a means of payment for the [$price-amt] for the colonoscopy and [$price-amt] for the office visit that I still owed at that time and they would take credit cards. Im not so much complaining about the exhorbitant price levels but more about the cold lack of empathy and the tacky, unprofessional soliciting of payment prior to the operation. What if I had paid and they screwed up something serious during the anesthesia or the op? My image of SAMB as a cold money-driven organization is based on these experiences and not any other source of information. Naturally I am now looking at alternatives to SAMB after having cancelled all my subsequent SAMB appointments.

Tryingto Staybusy The front desk staff and the doctors assistant were especially friendly and helpful. There was a pleasant vibe at this doctors office. Ive rarely experienced this in the past. Dr. Santillano was fantastic! She is very personable and made what should have been an awkward/uncomfortable visit into a pleasant one.

Liza Veglia The Doctors and Nursing staff have taken very good care of me and have gone out of their way to help. The receptionists are very nice and proficient and the check in process is a breeze. Lisa M No judgement here, just a marketing/branding opinion. When you open the web site for Santa Cruz Mental Health, the photo is less than flattering. I feel any photo representing your agency and its services should represent a more positive image than the people chosen as your only photograph. It would be more acceptable in my opinion to have a more generic photo promoting success from your services. These two look very sad and down on their luck, rather than Jane or Joe Average needing mental health services.

Marc David I call to make an appointment and I was on hold 20 minutes and had to hang up one time 28 minutes another and at one time they answered the phone in about 15 minutes, should I have some hope that their services might be a little bit better than the ability to answer the phone… It’s discouraging to think this day in age the technology hasn’t been updated to call someone back. Staying on hold this long becomes very discouraging. Is it on purpose to weed people out!! faith in government is already eroding. let alone the idea of having them take care of our health. It’s a shame!! we can certainly do better than this when it comes to human services!!

Patrick Quinlan I contacted the Santa Cruz Dept. of Public Health several weeks ago to report two supermarkets in Watsonville have really inadequate social distancing for shoppers. La Princessa Market on Freedom Blvd. stacks pallets of food items so close to the registers that customers jam together for 15 minutes while waiting to pay. The managers of the store are unable to enforce social distancing and seem unaware of the importance. Watsonville has the distinction of leading Santa Cruz County in Covid 19 cases. Good News. Recently the La Princessa supermarket in Watsonville has changed most of their most dangerous social distancing practices. They cleared out the jams of carts by their meat department. They moved the pallets of food items that were blocking distancing. They had twice as many employees working near the checkout area to keep customers moving out , rather than being bunched up closely in lines. Although I believe more pallets blocking distancing near the checkout area should be removed, the new system was working fine when I shopped there last week. Everyone was wearing masks, although the young manager"s mask did not cover his nose. I applaude the good work of the Santa Cruz Health Department. I change my rating from one star to five stars.

local user. I’ve delayed receiving medical treatment for months after being rejected by doctors on duty’s in Santa Cruz, I went in this morning from what I thought to be was a rash on my wrist. I had no insurance card and the 2 ladies at the front desk were very helpful and still managed to get me in with just the member # and my basic information. Not with just me but with everyone they handled and welcomed. Lainey (?) the nurse with the light purple scrubs and hair tie was so sweet and approachable. her attitude is what everyone needs in a work place. I didn’t catch the lady doctors name but she was nice and super patient listening to my concerns. it REALLY means a lot to come to the doctors on your day off and to be taken seriously and even was prescribed a cream for possibly ringworm. I saw on sign they were at capacity and came just after 10, I really appreciate everyone’s time. Everyone working Friday morning (10-11am) thank you so much your attitude and the workspace you’ve guys made doesn’t go unnoticed.

David Thomas So this might be the worst redi care clinic ever.my better half has been here several times -like most good people we attempt to avoid the ER so true emergencies in our area can be addressed. She went here seeking treatment was delayed by literally two days- after to days they stated they were unable to take anthem ins - mind you in the past this was never a issue- and there have been no changes to the plan- the staff were rude and in no way attempted to help. My employer confirmed that the ins was good at any ready care or er in the country- the staff basically told us to leave and had no intent to even help- I’ve been a paramedic for over 35 years and this is some worst customer service I have experienced- if you don’t want to help sick or injured people go find a new job….

M H-s Receptionist let me sit in the waiting room for 2 hours with sepsis symptoms before checking my insurance & telling me it’s not accepted even though their website says they do. Now I have to sit in a packed waiting room all over again while feeling extremely ill. This is negligent when hours matter if it’s a serious health condition that could literally cost someone their life. If my state wasn’t so dire I would’ve just given up & gone home. Inexcusable.

The physicians, PAs, RNs, medical assistants, XRay techs, and office staff are professional, skilled and caring! I have been an RN for 50+ years and have observed the unfortunate deterioration of healthcare with the pandemic. Alicia Vega I had got testing done by this doctor, he sent me back to the original doctor that sent me to him. Did NOT have any respect for me when I was explaining my situation to him. He expected me to know the dates of my injuries when Ive been waiting to see him again for first time official appointment for THREE months. Charged me 50$ for a missed appointment even though I had not been told about the fee in advance. He canceled an appointment and when i finally get to sit down with this person hes basically pushing me out the door. Wouldnt let me speak to the receptionist to make another appointment (not that i would ever see this incompetent individual again) and all because he was offended when i said that I had heard all of the things he was saying to me already and basically told me theres nothing he can do and i left.

Torvald Tempestas Joydip Bhattacharya is extremely invalidating. One of his first statements upon reading my medical history was "You do not have hypermobility." This was my first meeting with him, and yes, an actual rheumatologist gave me the diagnosis of hypermobility. I was taken aback as to why he would choose to step outside of his field without prompting, but continued the session. He proceeded to run a janky POTS test, no tilt table, and no timer, just him speaking to me and taking my pulse at random intervals and in various positions. At the end of the session he asked me about the brace on my right ankle, apparently hadnt noticed the other three braces (one on each ankle, one on each wrist), and said; "did you injure yourself?" I answered with some irritation that the braces are a preventative measure for the HYPERMOBILITY, and proceeded to touch my elbows behind my back, bend over and place my hands flat on the floor (I can easily go further), and inform him my right leg can reach almost to the back of my head. Upon this, he exclaimed, "Oh, maybe you do have hypermobility." Yes. Thats why a QUALIFIED professional wrote the diagnosis. Completely unnecessary, unprofessional, invalidating, and wrong. Would not recommend to any other women.

Kris Cord Dr Bhattacharya is great, assuming you can get to see him. His office staff however is not so great. It took three calls and two weeks for them to get my insurance paperwork submitted for physical therapy. Not once did they return one of my calls. They dont call you to make a follow up appt. Instead theres an automated system that calls you to remind you to call them. When you call, youre likely just going to have to leave a message. If youre lucky enough to get someone, youre left on endless hold. If youre on hold at the end of the their work day at 3:56, they just hang up on you. I guess Im just going to finish my assigned PT and not bother with a follow up despite still having problems. Im going to have to ask my GP can get my rescuers transferred and get me in to see someone who I can actually make appts with.

Corey Hendriks Dr Bhattacharya seems to mean well but he’s failed me dramatically as my neuro and as a result my condition has gone largely Untreated for 5 years and I almost died recently as a result. He doesn’t really seem to listen and outwardly is very aloof.

Neil Happee Dr. Thaila Ramanujam is phenomenal doctor. She is a recognized leader in her field and has an exceptional ability to connect with patients in a way that elevates the level of care and treatment plans she creates, implements and closely monitors. Under her care you feel you have a doctor who is fully committed to understanding your diagnosis and adjusts as needed to your bodies unique responses to medications and combination therapies to ensure the optimal outcome is achieved. I have been treated by Dr. Ramanujam for 20 years and absolutely believe that my quality of life would not be what it is today without her.

Sophie Lafond Dr Ramanujam is one of the kindest and caring Rheumatologist I have seen. Where there is a problem she makes a plan and works at that until we reach the best possible outcome. She always has a smile and her clinic has such a positive attitude.

Maria Walsh Dr. Ramanujam abandoned me as a patient while I was literally laying in a hospital bed, unable to move due to full-body joint pain, at the most vulnerable moment in my life. She quit by saying to me over the phone, "I am not interested in your case anymore." I never heard from her again. She is the exact opposite of a dedicated, caring doctor. I do not recommend her to anyone.

Scott Riddle I went to Dr Ramanujam for Lyme disease related arthritis. The first thing she said was that she was suspicious that I had lime disease. Then she seemed rather confident that with or without the diagnosis she would treat me. I was and still am in severe pain. She ran all the tests that the last doctor ran and the diagnosis was conclusive. And then she did nothing. I had a second appointment there were no recommendations for a Lyme disease doctor. There was no help with my pain. There was no follow through.Ironic because she was actually recommended to me after the fact buy some other people in the community. To add insult to injury. Her assistant referred me to the local pain clinic. Who also basically took my money and then said they could do nothing for me. Welcome to healthcare in Northern California folks.

Summer Peterson The office doesnt answer the phone which is very frustrating and its also incredibly hard to get an appointment. Because I had to wait two months to see Dr. Ramanujam I saw the PA first which was pointless. When I finally saw DR. R she didnt agree with half of what the PA had told me. In a super rushed 15 min apt she told me I have Hypermobility Syndrome and Fibromyalgia and said there was nothing I could do but go see a sleep doctor. Her energy was stressed and frenetic and she very obviously did not care about me as a patient. She did not explain anything else and I felt very dismissed. It was heartbreaking to get a diagnosis like that by a doctor who clearly could care less about me. I even had to call the office later and ask what my diagnosis was exactly because it wasnt clear. A 15 min apt the for my 1st time seeing her was unacceptable.

jocelyn sepeda I had an ultrasound done with results flagging abnormalities and urgent follow up I was told by her office that there were no abnormalities found so I didn’t schedule a follow up Dr Sarma should have called me or had her staff follow up with me to notify me. As my Doctor it is her irresponsibility to notify me.

Nick Llewellyn I had a new patient appointment scheduled with Patrick Cudahy. It took 6 weeks to get in to see him and then 10 days prior to the appointment, his office called to cancel. No explanation as to why and then the next available appointment was 7 weeks later via phone. Completely unacceptable! If you cancel an appointment, then make an effort to see someone in a timely manner and be transparent about the reasoning for canceling in the first place.

We followed our kids doctor there when she left PAMF, and it has been by far the worst customer service experience Ive ever had in 50 years on this planet. What a terrible, terrible, terrible business model they have. You spend 45 minutes on hold to speak to someone who doesnt know what theyre talking about, gives you misinformation, mis-schedules, unschedules, reschedules and cancels appointments on their own whim. The absolute worst. Im done.

They do not communicate with or review information regarding specialists. I do not recommend seeking medical help or advice from this clinic or their staff, especially after they requested I go to TeleCare where I was Graped. Jeromy & Wendy Collins I had an appointment set for 4-5 weeks out, the day before I was supposed to get off work early to go to my appointment , I received a call saying that the doctor was cancelling because he had a new appointment at the hospital. Fine, I understand, emergencies happen. But when I asked when I could get another appointment, the woman said 5 weeks out! I commented, so I go to the back of the line essentially? She quickly said, yes. I said no thank you. In my respectful opinion, this is a careless way of conducting business.

Sheila Borgman The one star is for Dr Seftel’s NURSE. She was incredibly rude and belittling. After waiting almost 20 minutes for the doctor, I told his nurse I had to leave because I had another appointment coming up. She looked at her watch and was not impressed by the amount of time I’d been waiting. Instead she said, “You should plan more time between appointments.” ????!! I had allotted a 1/2 hour to be at their office, and most of that was eaten up by sitting around. At the rate we were going I would have had a 5-minute appt, or no appt at all. His nurse continued to time-shame me as if I should know and accept that he always runs behind. She had the gall to say “if you don’t want to wait, schedule at 9am or 2pm.” I had scheduled at 9:15, and they were already behind. Bottom line: She made it sound like it was my fault that I couldn’t wait anymore, which is unbelievable! The front desk staff was lovely and apologetic. Dr. Seftel is pleasant and knowledgeable (but runs late). His nurse was awful to me, and I hope Dr. Seftel reads this because he should know.

J Shelton Dr. Seftel is amazing and has been straight up with me thru this process of cancer. He has gotten all my appointments moved up to next day when they were weeks out. Taylor Demarest Dr. Marc Seftel is a hearing aid saleman and not interested in helping his "patients". Very Poor bedside manner and failed to let me know there was potential treatment options available which were time sensitive like prednisone so that he could try and sell me hearing aids. More than a bad Doctor he is also a bad human being. The biggest mistake I ever made was not going to a real ENT and instead seeing Dr. Seftel who cares more about money than his patients health.

Reema S Iam really taken aback by the policy which was never mentioned to me while I made an appointment. I had to travel for a family emergency the clinic never called me or reminded me about my appointment and conveniently wants to charge me 50$ this is stupid.
