Vinita Palaniveloo No transparency regarding service cost. Be prepared for after visit shock when you receive the bill, as they do not provide upfront pricing or detailed cost breakdowns. My experience is paying bills for months after a simple visit. I would rather be sick than be burdened with the bills.

Steve Kane Unfair billing practices at this facility. They charge whatever they want for lab services. Had to pay $400 for preventative coded lab tests (including insurance coverage) because UCI supposedly increased their lab service costs by 50% from 2023 to 2024. Classic case of healthcare facilities ripping people off and I will not be returning.

Alen Beygelman A very nice little campus. The interior of the buildings are nicely renovated and parking is very easy.

Karen Herrold I am writing this review re a girl from UCI Tustin that called me this morning to reschedule an appointment. This person her name was Olga, she was awesome, kind and caring and most of all professional, its awesome you could tell she cared about what she did. and I find this with every one at UCI It took me a good 12 years to find UCI and now I wont switch. Thank you Olga. Karen Herrold

Asim Latif This is a great facility. Nice, and courteous staff. Plenty of seats in the waiting area and ample parking. They do offer Covid vaccines and boasters for non UCI patients also. Its easy to get an appointment at this facility and youre generally in and out in no time.

Carlos Amador Dr I visited is very good but support staff are awful. Called repeatedly over two days to cancel and reschedule leaving messages and no return call. Spent over 20 minutes on hold 1st day , and 10 minutes 2nd with no one answering line. Left messages with my name and phone number requesting a return call and have not received a return call. Finally called another office and spike to a receptionist who reminded me I missed visit and I explained why while asking for help scheduling a visit and was told she could not help yet she was able to see I had missed a visit? I eventually gave up waiting for help and drove to clinic. The staff at front desk who appeared to be new informed me I had been dialing wrong number. I showed them appointment card with number I had been dialing and they repeated that it was wrong number. I then dialed it after placing it on speaker and they were able to hear voice mail stating Ive reached progeny and gave options to press for different clinics. The response was I dont know where you got that but the number on card I just gave you is correct number. Im dumbfounded?

Brianne Wick Worst experience ever. They do not listen to their patient, very sad. Everyone is different when it comes to medication. It is not a one size fits all. Dr. Trinh look over my care when my doctor had left. Never did she actually call me herself to introduce herself rather interns kept calling me. I’ve been on my current medications for 10 years and after my first meeting with her she wants to change it. Every 3 weeks, she keeps changing it on me. I told her I’m not comfortable changing it and she says ok, go somewhere else, wow. I’ve seen Many doctors here before and clearly as a nurse practitioner Linda, you should start listening to your patients rather then making them feel like a study or guideline. Every patient needs a special treatment plan to whatever it is they need help with.

Allyson Aabram This practice runs Synergy Estates. A facade for care. Do not let the website imagery or "extras" sway you! Our family worked extensively, for over five months on and off, with the patient coordinator, who was communicative and resourced. Unfortunately, she was the best and only thing the facility had going for it unless you count the chef, who is present to appease the staff who sit around with food and drinks like they are on vacation. Most importantly, during my sons 30-day mental health stay, he NEVER saw a physicalist in person. EVER! It is unethical at best. It is no surprise that my son didnt develop a rapport or show a willingness to engage or change medication as he was talked through a computer by someone he never met. My son did NOTHING the entire time he was there. I know this because I asked for all the daily "notes", which took over an hour to obtain. During his stay, I was told that my son was participating and doing better. THIS was untrue. He never participated, per the notes. He did not improve. No one ever suggested he needed different or more care until.... magically, right before the 30 days. Once Synergy had drained our insurance company funds, they didnt have a proper discharge plan, and suddenly, my son was deemed "disengaged". We had approval directly from an insurance company case manager to allow an extra few days to ensure we made the proper transition, to which Senergy booted him. We had to rush 6 hours to get him and had no plan for any aftercare- and a disaster. Also, during my sons stay, multiple doctor appointments were canceled, missed, and reset under their care. They were all within 5 miles of the house?! I coordinated a visit and drove 6 hours to be present for discharge planning with my son and staff, and when I arrived, I was told they would be there soon. After waiting around, I was told they werent coming and given a shrug, "You can come back?!". No, I live 360 miles from here and we planned this for a week? There was no care, knowledge, or expertise amongst the staff, who again were dolled up for the night out and seemingly disconnected to the vulnerable individuals a room away. (except one) . Clearly, money was the objective. Select this option if you would like to invest $40k in your family member sitting in a gilded cage with women vamping around in heels "caring" for them while they sip sodas. AND zero follow-up from any DR. or NP in the practice afterward despite several messages and calls. They dont answer calls, they dont respond. It is a money grab. Synergy did nothing but hold my son in limbo and prevent him from getting the care he desperately needed. What a shame that this is likely to be read by the profiting people. I have never experienced such egregious disrespect for care. The "co-founder," R. Jordan Turner, should be ashamed.

Shae P. I have to say how truly disappointed and furious I am with this place. Not only are alot of the front office staff rude as hell and totally dismissive, they lie to and hang up on upset patients. I have been going to them for over 5 years for medical maintenance medication & recently my Medi-Cal was changed without my knowledge or permission. Due to this, I have not been able to book an appointment because I also do not just have $175 to pay for a 5 minute phone call with the exact same doctor to ask the exact same 3 questions he always does to send in the exact same refills to the exact same pharmacy I have been using for over 5 years. The medication THEY prescribed to me cannot simply be stopped, it must be tapered or continued or there are serious consequences to my health and wellbeing. I have been without it for 4 days as of now and I have told them I am trying to get the insurance sorted but it is Medi-Cal and nothing is easy with those people, so it is taking some time. THEY WILL NOT SEND IN MY REFILL!! They claim it is a liability and I have to have an appointment to say the same thing I say every single time! I feel absolutely horrible, I am actually crying because of how awful I feel. I am a single mom on one income. I dont have extra $$$ to just throw away on a less than 5 minute conversation. They are not even willing to hold the payment till next week when I get paid (even though I really cant use that $ on anything but rent). I can barely get out of bed. Do they care? Nope. They just want $$$$. They claim it is a "liability" even though I am telling them ON A RECORDED LINE that nothing has changed. I cannot afford private insurance and I cannot make the county move faster. They say go to the ER, so now I am supposed to get a giant ER bill? FOR A MEDICATION REFILL?????!!!!!! I have been hung up on, ignored, lied to and dismissed by these people. They are the ones who put me on this medicine to begin with and told me how dangerous it is to stop. This is reckless and despicable. They dont care about the suffering of their patients. Even though the insurance should be handled by next refill, they will not send a courtesy refill to stop me from going through SEVERE withdrawal. I hope they read this and I hope they know how sick they are making someone. All over a refill request. I am so angry I could scream. They are putting my physical and mental health at risk. I could lose my job because I can barely move without being in extreme pain and I am experiencing extreme lethargy. I am doing the best I can to correct the insurance, but they do not care. I JUST GOT HUNG UP ON AGAIN!!!!!! I know they can give out a 3 month prescription because they did that for a friend who is a patient RECENTLY!!! For the same medication. This is reckless and careless. So beware!! If you cant shell out hundreds for a refill of a necessary medication that has serious consequences if you suddenly stop, then this is the place for that.

lee jong People who work there never answer the phone. I called on the way there to let them know I was going to be a little late, but no one answered the phone until I arrived. I wrote down my time the day before on the foam they told me to do (I dont know why they told me to come 25 minutes earlier) and finished everything they wanted. When I arrived (10 minutes late) they told me you missed the appointment with half-souled eyes. I said Id rebook. When I asked if I could see the doctor even for a minute, they said no because of the next patient. How can I make someone elses appointment right away without terming me for another 10 minutes? Thats ridiculous. Even if I couldnt be 10 minutes late, their attitude of sitting in a soulless front desk at least in the morning and speaking easily is just ridiculous. And they said they charge $50.00 even though they didnt get any service. I went for my mental health and I was more stressed out. The reservation for 8am on Saturday morning was horrible. My anger was that they never answered the phone and thats why I wasted my time. I wouldnt have spent at least an hour to get there from Saturday morning, and I took $50 as a bonus. How is there no gap in 10 minutes between the next patients?

Jason Williams I went in for a colonoscopy, not exactly a fun process. The entire care team at UCI were incredible. From the second you arrive, parking is free, you are greeted by a friendly receptionist who checks you in and guides you where to go. Then upon check in at the procedure desk, Thuy is amazing, super kind and informative. Then you are walked back to your hospital bed. My nurse team were great and super kind. Dr. Albers is absolutely amazing, he even called me himself the night before to review the procedure. He went through in detail what was going to take place and injected some humor to make it an easy process. I wasnt feeling well before the procedure so the nurses did everything they could to make me feel better. Dr. Albers asked the anesthesiologist to give me some fluids. Dr. Han who was my anesthesiologist, was the best! She is super kind and came to give me fluids, explained the process and wheeled me into the procedure room herself. She then told me how I would feel once the anesthesia was administered. I woke up feeling great, got dressed and went home. I know its their job but, this group of Healthcare professionals are truly amazing! I highly recommend UCI and I have to say, please get your colonoscopy done. Dr. Albers and his team are saving lives.

Dr. Mehrdad Rostami Hoag Hospital Emergency Room deserves five stars for their outstanding care and professionalism. My wife recently visited for her broken wrist, and we were fortunate to have been helped by Physician Assistant Mrs. Sillers and her assistant Anthony. They were both incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. The level of expertise they demonstrated was exceptional. They performed tension and manipulation under X-ray to realign the broken part with great skill and gentleness. It was clear they were not only experts in their field but also deeply caring in their approach. I truly thank Mrs. Sillers, Anthony, and the rest of the team for their compassionate and thorough care. We are so grateful for the excellent treatment my wife received. Thank you

T K Dear Robert Braithwaite, I wanted to express my concern regarding the professionalism of the ER doctors and nurses during our recent visit. Unfortunately, they did not take the time to explain the situation to us, which left us feeling confused and anxious. Also they disrespected us on multiple occasions.Hoag Hospital has always been our preferred choice, but this experience has prompted us to reconsider. I kindly urge you to take a closer look at your team and address these issues. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Lisa Guevara They hate you here if you’re not white and or rich… since you guys want to delete my reviews…. I will not stop posting it so there know to be carful I had a car accident early February…I was two weeks away from my delivery date so I went in due to cramping The doctor was extremely rude asked me why am I here since Hoag is not my primary … I was already scared for my babies life and mine, and she was not helping at all. they checked the Baby sent me home since everything seemed fine babe was just breached… about 2 to 3 days later I started having contractions. My primary doctor is about 25 to 30 minutes away. call it mothers intuition, but all I knew was my baby was coming so I did the only logical thing to do and drive five minutes up the road to urgent care little did I know I was going to be greeted by the same doctor with the same attitude as I was contracting and be taken to the back rooms she was asking me again. What are you doing here we are not your doctors, why didn’t you go to you dr?” but last time I checked the door says urgent care or/and emergency I could be totally wrong, but this seemed like an emergency to me checked around 6am I was checked by the nurses Nobody cared To bring up my file from 3 days earlier, so I needed to remind them that my baby was breached 3 days ago… Nurses checked confirmed Baby was still breached. Nobody had checked my cervix. while nurses were checking me the same doctor from my first visit said “ she needs to wait I have another patient in the operating room” luckily, they were doing shift changes she went in and did her c-section the new doctor came in around 6:30 to check on me and my cervix was finally checked because she witnessed how much in pain I was, and said you have to be dilated at a high number I’m sure enough I was dilated I believe it was 8cm or 9cm Keep in mind my baby was breached. The first doctor made me wait thanks Jesus that everything went well and that second doctor was Quick on her feet didn’t skip a beat. I had to be completely sedated. I was put to sleep, putting me and my baby in danger… living in Irvine for the past three years, i’ve experienced discrimination from people police officers etc. but to receive it from a doctor in urgent care while you’re In active labor with your breached baby is absolutely disgusting… not all the doctors or nurses had the same behavior as her, but if it was done to me, it was definitely done to other people …I have to look at my medical records, so I’ll be back with an edited with the doctors names If I could give this place 0 starts I would.

Martin Jennifer “JenM” The moment you walk into the emergency department to check in I do feel like I was more of an inconvenience to the staff at the front! Eventually got taken back into a room and was experiencing some bleeding while pregnant so I was nervous and scared and I do not feel like they cared and I was just a number on a list. I had to sit for almost two hours to hear from someone and I do not recommend this er for anyone because they will make you feel like an inconvenience and it will make you feel worse than when you first got there and I do respect if they were busy but work on communication instead of just ignoring your patient who is scared to begin with. Not good bedside manners a all!

Susan Portilla Dr. Gayathri Naik is a very good doctor. She is thorough and very knowledgeable. However, the office staff is very disorganized. They take a huge amount of time following up on orders, losing them at time, and often do not know what they are doing. Frustrating situation for a client who is waiting for results or referrals.

حسبي الله After waiting few weeks for my appointment, I received a voice message that my appointment was canceled (one day before my appointment) due to the doctor being unavailable. . Joshua (Staff member) said to call back to setup a new appointment and left a number to call. I called that number but I kept getting the wrong people to answer my call since apparently it was a general number for the entire hospital. Every time someone answers the phone and I try to get them to reschedule my appointment they end up saying they do not setup appointments or do not know which doctor I was assigned to etc... I gave up after trying so many times and called UCI medical instead of Hoag . The person that answered was so helpful. Stayed on the phone till she found my old records (I previously left them and went to Hoag since Hoag is closer to where I live) and set up an appointment for me from the first call with a doctor of my choosing. Hopefully I will never go to Hoag again. What a mess...

Dan Johnson As a prospective patient looking for a new physician (to get a simple flu shot) I attemtped to find a Hoag physician and apparently none in OC have any availability for the next 3 months (this is what I see online and what I was told after calling Hoag to ask). Thats absolutely ridiculous! Why would I join a healthcare system that cant provide timely healthcare? Guess Hoag doesnt want my premium health insurance $. Their competitors are looking like a better bet at this point. UPDATE: I was able to find a new primary care physician in the UCI Healthcare system and didnt even have to wait! They were fast and accommodating, unlike Hoag.

Jane Park Exorbitant pricing - went in for an x-ray, cost nearly 600 dollars (with insurance!). Later found out could have gotten the same x-ray done next door at Memorial for around 50 (they had negotiated rates with Blue Shield). Hoag charges hospital prices at outpatient centers. Inacceptable and totally typical of our dysfunctional health system. Always check with your insurer beforehand and remember to shop around. My primary care doctor sent me here so I didnt ask questions but later regretted it. Never again.

Doan Daniel Has their own private rules on coding visits. Particularly it does not matter if your insurance has unlimited Preventative visits, HOAG refuses to code preventative visits as such if it is within 365 of another visit. Outrageous pricing on top of that. Do not come here.

Arash Mehraban They are scammers! They misdiagnosed a simple case of infection common during the winter, like the flu. They prescribed weak antibiotics (a misdiagnosis and incorrect treatment). Instead of prescribing stronger antibiotics, Dr. Arif ordered an unnecessary chest X-ray, which cost me $500, before correcting the mistake and prescribing more effective antibiotics. Never going back!

Gabby K If I only could give a zero… I got charged 1300 for a hip pain that obviously was muscular. But Dr Reed started guessing all my symptoms. He ran a urine test for him to make sure I didn’t have blood I said I didn’t have anything before he ran the test not only that. I told him I was not pregnant and He ran Test on that too! I got charged for x ray 905 dollars which I knew my hip bone was fine he just sent me ibuprofen and my le relaxers which obviously didn’t help either. I should have read all the reviews before going. Now I have a big bill that I don’t even know how I’m going to pay. Never going back to that “doctor”

Mckenna Studley I have a history of tonsillitis and I came in telling them exactly what I knew was the problem. The doctor came in and told me that i had a viral infection and she was not going to prescribe antibiotics bc it would be “a great disservice to my body”.I knew this was a lie bc I just went to this exact same urgent care in December and they had no problem giving me antibiotics to help me get better. I had to politely argue with the doctor to even get her to prescribe anything. She was condescending and made me feel stupid for even coming in, keep in mind my tonsils are so swollen they touch in my throat and I can hardly swallow water. I haven’t eaten in two days i’m in so much pain and all she could tell me was to gargle with salt water more often and that it was my fault for biting my nails because she saw me picking at my cuticles while she was berating me. I don’t even bite my nails. She told me to take tylenol even though i’m severely allergic, which is in my chart. She was also so rude to the nurse in the room as well. I will never be returning and I suggest you all stay for away as well. The rest of the staff was super nice though! Just another doctor with an ego trip.

Reojin Lim I would give 0 stars if there was an option. Front desk and nurses are professional, polite and kind. Doctor should not embarrass patient and be more empathetic if they are unaware of patients long history with a disease. Especially if there are scribes in the room. Unnecessary and personal remarks were made that were inhumane and inappropriate. Also, do not disregard patient’s concerns- scarring of a blistering rash is NOT merely pigmentation. I have pictures of the progression of the blistering rash until it scarred. THUS it is not "pigmentation". That is called gaslighting and patients are supposed to be able to trust a doctor to hear their concerns and not disregard and bull-doze them- making them feel like they shouldn’t have made the visit in the first place. I have a pre-existing condition but that is not the reason I was there today. I can discuss my condition with the specialist that has been treating me for 10+ years. Did not even check certain bruising on my scalp or swelling of lymphs when they were my main concern and I even stated that in writing upon checking in as a "reason for visit", as well as to the initial nurse who took my vitals, and to the doctor in front of two scribes as well. Scribes should also introduce themselves and ask for permission to even be in the room, instead of just imposing and coming into the room where patient may not be comfortable with them being there. There may be patients who arent as comfortable to go to doctors and they will deal with/ignore their pain until it becomes intolerable. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone-she is inhumane and makes the patient feel ignored, disregarded, uncomfortable, and judged for medical decisions that were made by another professional in Johns Hopkins Healthcare, Maryland, when she has no idea about patients history. Her negligence is disgusting.

Steffanie Byrnes I need a procedure under my left eye. I got an authorization a month ago. The referral was extremely vague, didnt explain anything about the procedure or even who I was seeing. I was told by a customer service the authorization was already sent. It was not. I finally talked to a nurse at the hospital that told me what to do. If there is a complex issue, customer service should work with you and trying to figure out what is going on. I really feel that this healthcare dropped the ball. I also didnt feel my concern was taken seriously. I will give it a second star of the third customer service representative sends the authorization. It should not be this hard to get a needed procedure. Nor should they lie and not bother to send the authorization over.

John Morrell Optum has been difficult to get appointments with for some time. This week it became impossible because of the 4th weekend and the CLOSING THE MV OFFICE FOR 2 days to train. Who does that with no physician to cover the staff in training. As a result my wife who is post op has to wait until Thursday- one full week - to get a telemedicine appointment just to get a referral. The worse care available

Chuchi They should get Zero stars!! They make everything difficult beyond belief!! And, for aging handicapped seniors this is especially painful to deal with them. For example, when my mother (89yrs old, handicapped and almost blind but mentally fit and otherwise active) had a stroke, she needed physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Not only do they have few providers to choose from, every few visits they have to do another eval, then they often discharge way too early before the patient has had a chance to recuperate and you are required to get another doctors request for continued services and you have to wait another several weeks for Optum/Monarch to approve, then you have to wait for schedules to open up again and start over. Meanwhile, youve lost ground. Another instance was when my mother was being billed for services which were supposed to be covered but neither Optum or Monarch were helpful in getting it resolved so her doctor kept billing her and threatened to cut her off. They have no patient advocates or anyone at the top to help you. They routinely tell you you have to call another department. Another serious case was when she had an eye surgery to protect the remaining vision in her only working eye and following the surgery she lost most of her vision. We wanted a second opinion, but they didnt have any other eye surgeons to provide such an opinion. So, we insisted they pay for her to see a non-participating provider. They fought and fought and after days of calling anyone we could get ahold of at the highest levels, Blueshield and attorneys, they finally acquiesced and sent an approval to the doctor we had requested. A few months after my mothers visit, she was sent a very large bill from the 2nd opinion eye surgeon. They told me her insurance only paid for a pressure check and refused to pay for anything else. They knew full well my mother needed a complete and indepth evalutaion but again, they left us paying the bill. Very dishonest and unethical. If I have to fight like I do for my mothers services at my age and health, how is any senior or handicapped person supposed to manage their own care on their own?!? The only reason my mother stays with Optum/Monarch is because she loves her primary care doctor and its too hard to switch at her age. STAY AWAY FROM MONARCH & OPTUM AT ALL COSTS!!!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE TO WORK WITH.

Michele Del Valle I was member for a many years but when I really needed help I was discriminated by my 2 Hispanic female case workers I asked her for help for over a year only to be told I did not qualify for CALAIM for many reasons. I filed a complaint but was told I was wrong. A few months later I was signed into CALAIM but nothing in my life has changed. They lied to hide the discrimination that their case workers do. My case workers were both hispanic but too them I was either not hispanic enough, too old or they wanted to give to people they wanted to. Rebecca and Cheri should not have that kind of power to cheat others just because they say so. My therapist even looked it up and found I qualified over a year ago. I wanted to look for attorney now. Dont let them do this to you!!! The young hispanic girls that work here will not give benefits unless you have the accent. This is disgusting that this insurance company lets this happen.

G F Do not go here! I went to see a doctor in her office for a first visit and they charged me $800!! They charge a "facility" fee that they do not tell you they are going to charge you in addition to the doctor fee. If they told most people upfront they charge that much for an office visit, very few would come. You think you are just going to see the doctor in the office setting because it is and office. You would also think they are referring to additional charges if you are admitted to the hospital since the information about payment refers to paying the doctor and hospital on a form that says "Hospital Admission." The doctor and office staff dont discuss billing at all. Even if you have insurance, what a waste of healthcare dollars when you could see a good doctor somewhere else for a reasonable charge. Shame on BlueCross for participating in this exorbitant fleecing of healthcare dollars. This is disgraceful. Taking advantage of trusting seniors and others that are ill and in need of care.

Raven Kurosaki Great doctors, terrible office system. My experience so far: Took more than 4 hours just to secure an appointment as a returning patient, and the system is really confusing. Receptionist relayed me to their scheduling department, who didnt seem to know what to do with me when I said I was scheduling an appointment to get tests done. Sends me to the nurse. I had to leave a voicemail each time I was sent somewhere else. Eventually the scheduling lady schedules me properly, but I still dont understand what was so complicated about this process. My name is spelled incorrectly even though I wrote down my correctly spelled name at the first visit, as I was asked to by the office staff. It was never updated in the system. I am rating this facility 2 stars only because Dr. Ali is a fantastic cardiologist who knows what hes doing. He deserves 10 stars, but dealing with this office really gives me a headache.
