Mallery Jacob Dr. Dirkx has been managing my hip pain and doing hip injections for me for years now. The only reason I am able to keep up with my weight training is because Dr. Dirkx is so good at managing my inflammation. Hes kept me from needing to do anything more invasive, and he always gets the injection right into the exact spot it needs to be to get rid of my hip pain on both sides for months at a time. I wouldnt trust any other doctor besides him when it comes to keeping my body in working condition!

Douglas Dierenfield Services of the staff and Doc are excellent. My only complaint is the online registration program is not very user friendly. A back button would have made minor changes possible without having to start over. Pharmacy info was not up to date, scrolling through ethnicity, though fascinating to see how many there were, could have been more efficient with just typing it in. An AI upgrade is needed. Once through that, the experience was very efficient and friendly. The doc has an excellent bedside manner.

Saif Hijazeen Pretty negative experience. Doctor was 40 minutes late to my appointment, then was dismissive and almost combative when I asked him questions about a procedure he was gonna do to my face. Seems like he just wants to cut you up quickly and get going to the next patient. I refused the procedure and will look for another doctor.

Laura Woyach I saw 4 different orthopedic surgeons all very renowned. I am very young for a knee replacement, he was the only doctor who gave me a list of options of things to do be for doing a full knee replacement all the others just wanted to cut in and replace my knee, meaning Id need two in my lifetime for at least one of my knees. Thank you Dr. Romero for at least trying to find alternatives.

C B Dr Romero was a great doctor, and i dont really like going to doctor office.. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Himself and his staff were very helpful being able to answer my questions before and after surgery.. Made me feel real comfortable with his practice and going forward.. also after surgery he was real attentive to my pain levels and suggesting many options for my successful recover and healing, making sure I was able to return to work fully at a level I can work with.. During his care I felt no pressure or rush in the process which Ive heard from other co-workers about some other doctors.. Because of the extent of my injuries it was a very long process from beginning to end. I was well cared for during whole process!

Kelly Sans Dr. Benjamin Howard is anti-pain meds. So if you want minimal to no pain meds after surgery and to be in pain immediately after surgery then go to this dr. When I asked for more pain meds I was told I had to wait until I picked up from pharmacy (I live out of town so 2 hours away). I basically had to get dressed and leave while in pain and be driven 2 hours to get any relief. The pain med he gave was the minimum amount that could be given and if taken as directed you would be out by day 2! The nurse said day 3-5 are the worst for hernias (I had hernia surgery). He pushed taking ibprophen and Tylenol only and if still pain then use the pain med. Well when I did all 3 I did great. But that isnt what the doctor wants you to do - he wants you to be in pain and take no pain pills. I called to request a few more from nurse since I would be out as of day 2. Mind you I am asking for 5mg (smallest amount which was given). I was made to feel like an addict. After 4 calls back and forth no pain meds were given. I have no history of any addictions just wanted to not feel the pain. I have never gotten out of surgery and expected to stay in pain. This doctor does not believe in pain meds so if you have a low pain tolerance or you just want to not feel pain - THEN THIS ISNT THE DOCTOR FOR YOU! I wont recommend to anyone nor will I return.

Larry Di Sieno After years of suffering from chronic back pain, Dr Jason Hartman suggested a procedure called M.I.L.D(minimal invasive lumbar decompression). After a few days of recovery, the pain had almost gone away! I was able to walk without stopping and leaning over or leaning against a wall. Milage increased from 2 miles to unlimited miles. Two years ago, I went on a trip to Europe and had pain so bad, I would have lay down for most of the next day. And the flight over and back, the worst. I just returned from Alaska when we canoed, kayaked and hiked. I felt like I did 30 years ago! I want to thank Dr Hartman for suggesting the procedure. He was turned my life around! Zarah Polk Having COVID complications and having had to take steroids for it made me gain a ginormous amount of weight. Even though I exercised regularly and wasnt much of an eater, it was hard for me to lose the excess weight. My blood pressure shot up, and I just didnt feel healthy. Dr. Bounoua gave me hope, and a new lease in life. From the start of the process, she was supportive, informative, and yes, realistic. From the start, she let me know that this wasnt just the solution, that this procedure would be useless if I didnt put the work in. And work I did. 5 months after, with daily 6 mile runs and strength training, I have lost 80 something lbs, and am now training for the St. Jude marathon. I cannot thank Dr. Bounoua enough for not only giving me a new lease in life, but helping me reclaim myself, and be a better person through and through.

eric peterson From day one the dr assured me my gastric sleeve surgery was covered by my insurance. After 6 months of meeting with dietitians, a psychiatrist and having my stomach scoped, arranging for home care and clearing my calendar for several weeks after the surgery date, the drs office called me THE DAY BEFORE my surgery and canceled because my insurance company denied coverage. Dr bounoua is the most disorganized surgeon I’ve ever heard of. Thruout my dealings with them, I felt they were just fast tracking everything with little concern for the patient. Unbelievably unprofessional.

La Montecita Once believed this doctor was a great doctor who provided the best care for her patients. Her bedside manner is cold in general but that was not as important as having a doctor who took everything else, medically speaking, extremely serious. Its safe to say, now, her bedside manner outshines her ability as a doctor to do her job and properly take care of her patients. She is extremely egotistical, doesn’t hesitate to talk bad about any and every other local OBGYN. She has a huge reputation for treating hospital staff, primarily nurses, like garbage. She actually says shes proud of the fact so many fear her. God forbid she make any mistakes delivering or caring for one of her patients while they are at Cottage, she will either blame the nurse whose assigned to that patient or she will literally blame the patient. I dont just suggest looking elsewhere for a doctor, i suggest running in any direction away from this one. When you do find a doctor make sure they dont work in a group that includes her as a backup if your doctor is unavailable because i promise you she very likely will take such a special and beautiful experience and leave you completely traumatized unless you get lucky. Her front desk staff is absolute trash but her nurse is good and very nice. I honestly have no idea how this doctor still has a license or hasnt had criminal charges for some of the things shes done.

He is not only the most effective physician I have met in Santa Barbara (accurate diagnosis and corresponding treatment recommendations), he is also the most HONEST and direct. Katrina Swanson My primary doctor set up an appointment for me to see this “pain doctor that was new in town”. When I arrived, I realized that this pain group had been in town for a while. Regardless, I went in. My appointment was to see Jamie Duncan, PA-C. A male doctor followed us and stood in the doorway, which I thought was a little strange. Because he didn’t come in and close the door behind him, everything he said could be heard by most, if not all, the people in the office. I had to call the office twice to find out his name because he never introduced himself. I was told his name is DR.PIRES. Jamie was very quiet even though my appointment was supposed to be with her. DR. PIRES stood in the doorway and he never asked me why I was there or what my diagnosis was. He told me that he knew ALL the pain doctors in Fresno (I had recently moved from Fresno) and then he asked me who I had seen. I told him the names of two doctors I had seen in Fresno and he didn’t know either of them. Then he told me that “I WAS DOING NOTHING BUT WASTING HIS TIME!”. Then he turned to leave continuing to talk as he walked down the hallway. I told him he was rude so he turned and came back - I was so upset by then I can’t remember what he said. In all, he only spoke for a few minutes but everything he said and how he said it was rude, showing no concern for me, the patient. I believe what he did was a HIPPA VIOLATION. I still don’t know why he stood in the doorway when my appointment was NOT with him. I left the office in tears. I thought pain specialists were supposed to see patients with chronic pain and figure out a plan that would improve our quality of life. I had heard about several patients who moved to the San Luis Obispo area because the weather is mild year round. However, they had to move back to where they came from because they could not find a pain doctor here that would continue their treatment as it had been where they lived. 1) we can’t afford to move again and 2) I can’t tolerate the Central Valley heat so I’m stuck here. They actually billed my insurance $270 for that 5 minute appointment. Very disappointed!!

Brian Marshall Although Dr. Rubio is knowledgeable, after 4 visits I find him impatient, intolerant, always appears to be angry and or frustrated and he is condescending. In others words, he has the worst bedside manner I have ever had the misfortune to experience.

Michael Shierloh Dr. Rubio was referred to me by my pulmonologist after I almost died of massive blood clots in 2001. He helped me afterward with myriad ailments. I cannot say enough about Dr. Rubios thoroughness, compassion, communication skills, caring, and the unhurried nature of our visits. He is a great guy and a great doctor.
