In my experience, Mark is a good guy with lots of knowledge in a wide variety of older car and engine issues. His shop is not to be confused with a quick lube place, but Im quite sure they can fix anything.
Old cars often have many disparate issues at the same time. Some critical, some benign. Fix one and youll prob find the other... But that doesnt make it the mechanics fault.
