5 /5 Amjad Akhtar: Joes Auto Repair stands out for its rare, almost "stupidly honest" approach, and thats exactly why my girlfriend and I keep returning. Despite some minor concerns, like the lack of a proper waiting room, or when he comes out and takes your credit card and leaves you waiting outside, we love this place because Joe’s integrity shines through. He could have easily overcharged us many times, but he didn’t—and that’s what keeps us loyal.
The first time I went to Joe’s, it was because my brakes started making noise. I wasnt familiar with his shop, but it was the closest one, so I gave it a try. The shop itself needs some work, and the lack of a waiting area is a bit frustrating—my girlfriend and I have often had to wait outside in the heat or cold. I’ve considered telling Joe to set up a waiting room, but I’ve held back, hoping he reads this review and makes some improvements. However, despite the inconvenience, Joe made a lasting impression on my first visit.
He checked my brakes and gave me an estimate, which was already much lower than the other places I’d been going to for years. But here’s what really impressed me: he gave me the option to buy the parts myself from AutoZone across the street to save money. Most mechanics would have just ordered the parts and charged more. After I brought him the brake pads and rotors, he called me a few hours later to say the car was ready. To my surprise, he told me I didn’t need new rotors yet, saving me even more money. I was expecting to pay around $400 for my breaks and rotors before I drove into Joes, but I drove home with just the cost of brake pads and his fee which was less than $50!
Since then, we’ve brought both of our cars to him regularly, and he has consistently saved us hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. His estimates are always reasonable, and many times he charges less than expected. Unlike other places where the final bill is always more than the estimate, Joe’s honesty is a breath of fresh air.
Yes, Joe’s shop has some scheduling challenges, and he’s sometimes too busy to take our car in right away, but that’s understandable for a small business. He’s straightforward about what he can and cant do, and delays are part of the reality when youre working with a team that’s hands-on. Joe works on cars alongside his crew, so I understand if there’s a bit of a wait when new customers come in.
I’ve read reviews where people complain about scheduling or communication, but it’s important to be realistic. Small business owners like Joe have to juggle a lot, and they can’t be perfect all the time. Despite the waiting room issue, Joe’s work is excellent, his prices are fair, and his honesty is unmatched, and you’ll never feel like you’ve been ripped off. I highly recommend Joe’s Auto Repair—you’ll save a lot of money and be treated with honesty, which is hard to find these days. Hopefully, Joe will consider setting up a proper waiting room to make the experience even better for his customers.
I highly recommend him. I would say, dont go anywhere else. Give him a shot first. You will become a loyal customer.
