Nancy Stein My visit was awesome the staff and nurses gave me the best care and attention. Doctors were attentive and explained my situation where I understood. Being vegan plant based I got one of the best healthy vegan meals for breakfast and lunch which was greatly appreciated. Never have I seen such a healthy vegan meal at any other hospital! Kudos to you all!

Frances 1st experience is listening to two employees, one gay male and the other a pregnant female, judge my husbands appearance. Female was the triage nurse, the male disappeared when I called him out on it, so I dont know his position. I was asked to sit on a blue chair for triage.. While sitting there, I hear the male tell the female, "wait, I want to see this, he looks good", my husband was just entering and at security. There is a partial wall so I didnt see who he was talking about but I had a feeling they were talking about my husband... the pregnant female then said " I dont see it", he followed with, "really...yeah I guess... at that point, when the person they are speaking about is in sight, its my husband like I thought... I then let them both know, that I saw it, which is why I married him... I also said, I can say the same about you both... I dont see it.. they froze, didnt know what to say... he disappeared and she then had to triage me. She then began to try and downplay it.. that she was pregnant and she just dosent see it in anyone not even her husband... she didnt apologize, she justified why she said what she said... then began to act super sweet. The gay male disappeared and I didnt see him again....
Then I needed an MRI for a torn meniscus, but was told no because they are not allowed to use the machine unless its for head trauma... horrible experience. I pretty much paid to have my husbands appearance judged by emergency room employees. I will not be returning to this hospital.

Maria Luisa Arismendi Worst hospital experience the front desk and nurses were great! Too bad there Dr. Gonzalez had no beside manner at all never introduced herself all she said was we don’t really treat for blood pressure, besides my blood pressure being at 193/101 I was twitching uncontrollably and my words were slurred she told me they would do a few labs, when she got the results she came in to tell me it came back normal and that I can go home and rest, I asked her what about the twitching and she said it might be from my medications, that I’ve been on for years and this never had happened before, I could not get out of there fast enough, I knew I had to go to another hospital and drove to AdventHealth Davenport were they immediately noticed what was happening and called a code stroke immediately thanks to that hospital I got the best care after the horrible experience at Bay Care Winter Haven and Dr. Gonzalez, I felt that she did not care at all and I was dressed in my scrubs and was coming from work and not even that helped, I hate to think how she treats other patients.

Jeff L VERY disappointed with Winter Haven Hospital’s Handling of My Father’s Care
Our family had a heartbreaking experience with Winter Haven Hospital when my father, who had dementia, was brought in under a Baker Act(for health) by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Thanksgiving Day. His caregiver, who lived nearby, could no longer care for him, and the hospital was legally unable to release him without placing him in a long-term facility.
Just before Christmas, we were informed that he would be transferred to a long term care facility in Lake Wales. However, after days of silence, we received a shocking call from a doctor who vaguely mentioned that they "think" he aspirated but weren’t sure. Suddenly, the conversation shifted from long term care to "comfort care". Around the same time, we started receiving insurance denial letters, leading us to believe that his long-term placement had been rejected. It seems like, instead of finding a solution, the hospital did what was most convenient for them.
We spoke to an employee there that told us that people come in the hospital, theyre walkkng, talking and joking around and the next thing they know they start talking about comfort care.
All I know is this hospital was way too eager to put him on "comfort care" and get him out of there. What I witnessed was not comfort, he suffered before he died.
Communication was poor, and the lack of transparency left our family feeling helpless and betrayed. If a patient cannot be legally discharged, they should still receive proper care, not be left in limbo while families struggle to get answers. This experience was devastating, and I would caution others about trusting their loved ones to this facility.
