5 /5 Vijay Haripal: My Experience at JFK Medical Center’s Acute Rehab Facility – A Journey of Healing and Compassion
Recovering from a medical emergency is never easy, but the team at The Acute Rehab inpatient facility at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, FL made all the difference in my journey. On December 19, 2024 I suffered a major hemorrhagic stroke in the right basal ganglia and thalamic region of my brain impairing my ability to move the left side of my body. After a week at Wellington Regional Hospital I was transferred to JFK for Acute inpatient Rehab. From the moment I arrived, I was treated not just as a patient but as family. The level of care, compassion, and professionalism I experienced here was beyond anything I could have hoped for.
Exceptional Care From Start to Finish
Every single staff member played a role in my recovery, but there were a few extraordinary individuals who truly went above and beyond. Their kindness, dedication, and expertise helped me regain my strength, confidence, and independence.
Nursing Staff – The Heart of My Healing
• Anita – She truly listened to my concerns and, without exaggeration, saved my life.
• Sandrine – An absolute angel who brought warmth and kindness to every interaction.
• Linda, Michelle, Joanne, and Andrea – Each of them provided compassionate and attentive care, making my stay as comfortable as possible.
Patient Care Technicians – Providing Comfort Like Family
• Fabiana – Treated me as if I were one of her own, always bringing me warm blankets and tucking me in.
• Marie – Cared for me like a mother, ensuring I was comfortable and supported every step of the way.
• Paulette & Paulina – Both were phenomenal, making sure I was well taken care of at all times.
Physical Therapy – The Team That Got Me Walking Again
• Paul – A miracle worker who never let me give up. His motivation pushed me to take my first steps again.
• Roel – Always consistent, always caring, and always pushing me toward progress.
• Jayde – Tough but in the best way possible. She challenged me, and I’m grateful for it.
Occupational Therapy – Restoring My Strength and Dignity
• Sarah – After spending a week in the hospital, she was the one who made me feel human again.
• Rebekah, Taneka & Chantal– Are incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and supportive in my recovery.
Hospitalist Staff - Professionalism and Care
*Dr. Susan V. Hanson-Leal & Patricia Jabrowski, NP:
They were both always knowledgeable, quick to follow up and treat me with respect & kindness
A Place of Healing, Hope, and Family
Together, these incredible individuals created an environment where I felt safe, cared for, and motivated to push forward. Their combined efforts were instrumental in my progress, and I cannot thank them enough.
While I hope to never need inpatient rehab again, if I ever do, I know I’ll be in the best hands possible. If you or a loved one ever require acute rehabilitation, I highly recommend JFK Medical Center’s Acute Rehab Facility. The staff here are nothing short of heroes, and I will forever be grateful for the care they provided.
