5 /5 Tom Clark: If youre looking for discipline, precision, and the kind of military-grade attention to oil changes most civilians only dream of, this is your place. One guy at church said Tharps was only for suckers, but the crew calls you “brother” (which I liked), and they run a tight ship — oil changes every 3 months or 5,000 miles, wow, above and beyond the call of duty. Of course, those oil changes usually come with a full regimen: hoses, filters, etc… you’d be surprised how many of each your car has.
I used to go religiously — if you’ve got the budget and believe in the gospel of ultra-clean filters, it’s worth it. A couple hundred bucks a visit, and youll drive off knowing no spec of dust dared stay behind.
Unfortunately, after my health insurance spiked, I had to downgrade to one of those $40 quick-change places. They don’t treat me like a brother, but at least they don’t replace parts lucratively and preemptively, in the spirit of preventive profitability.
If my income ever climbs again, I’ll go straight back — where maintenance is sacred, filters spotless, and that wallet in your back pocket gets a full-service cleaning and rides a little bit higher at the end.
