Tom Contino This hospital needs to make some major changes. I waited hours and ended up just leaving because it was clear I would never have been seen. There were people I was talking to in the waiting room who had been there for 7 plus hours. One guy was having symptoms of a heart attack and they hadn’t even had a doctor look at him. Another person arrived by ambulance and was brought out to the waiting room. Another person had been there the entire day after being sent from their doctor’s office for an emergency MRI and had waited over 7 hours without anyone looking at them. This is unacceptable. People need to be able to get care within a reasonable amount of time. And leaving people out in the waiting room with major issues is just cruel. The staff had no accountability and refused to give anyone an estimation for wait time, or a reason why they hadn’t been seen yet. Something needs to be done about this place. It’s completely unacceptable to treat human beings like that.

Ashley Howland After being admitted and undergoing procedures in multiple facilities from Watertown to Syracuse, I can say that the best care I have received has been in the hands of the Oswego Medical network. I went in very nervous about the two procedures that I was having, but was met with nothing but warm and welcoming staff. Everyone from reception to surgeon and all in between were very friendly. Everything was explained to me and all needs attended to. In a world with such a shortage of medical care, I am thankful to have been seen by the people at the Oswego Hospital. These are very hardworking people who are often in thankless positions. Nothing went unnoticed by me. Thank you Oswego.

Desiree Breitbeck I recently fell and hit my head, which caused a severe bloody nose (I did not hit my nose but the impact on my head was so hard it caused my nose to bleed) I could have had bleeding on the brain, I could have had a concussion, and yet I was stuck in the waiting for 7+ HOURS before anyone even attempted to see me. No tests were done in this time. Not one nurse, doctor, or staff member bothered to check on me, not a single time. I watched as people came in after me, got called back, and got discharged all before I even got seen once.
Now, Im not stupid, I am aware that the ER is "SUPPOSED" to see people in order of severity, however, waiting there so long, some of the other patients and I talked and they told me why they were there, for example, one woman simply dropped something on her foot! And was still seen before me. She, among others, all had less severe conditions, and waited maybe a FRACTION of the time. Then after waiting for 7 hours, a nurses aide finally came to THE WAITING ROOM to check my blood pressure and vitals. Talk about lack of privacy, and after finding my blood pressure was 220/128, (he even checked it more than once to make sure it wasnt high due to an error and got a high reading everytime) I was STILL left in the waiting room.
This hospital definitely is NOT seeing people based on severity, it seems to me they are getting the easier patients in first so they can get them in and out at a faster rate. And it was not me alone that felt this way. There was an older gentleman there with his elderly wife who was waiting longer than myself and he was complaining to the staff and they told him they "could not do anything about it or give anyone any time estimates". I repeat again this is after 7-8 HOURS of waiting to even be seen once.
If you or your loved one need care, especially if it is needed in a hurry, please, PLEASE, DO NOT go to this hospitals ER department. Make the drive to St. Joes/Crouse/Upstate, any of the surrounding hospitals.
And dont bother replying with the generic "we need more information" response. The fact that you reply to EVERYONES review the same way shows you genuinely do not care. Every patient here gets the same reply just like we get the same level of care. Cold, rude, and impersonal.

Jane Castro Horrible experience, rude/disrespectful staff went in experiencing an asthma attack. Ended up sedated and chained to a bed because I kept asking why blood was being taken. Ended up loosing my breathe i fell, I was dragged across the floor while nurse and doctors kept telling me they didn’t care. The nurse took my phone away before being sedated. Once I woke up no one knew were my stuff was and kept telling me I never had it on me which I did. 2 hours after being awake the finally found my phone. They were more worried on how many drinks I had with dinner than the actual issue of an asthma attack. Which I have chronic asthma. Needles to say the nurse and doctors that were on last night need to be watched.
