5 /5 Rik Flynn: I want to share publicly what an outstanding experience I had at Fleet two weeks ago: my first time going to this Service Center and meeting the owner, Eli. I went on the recommendations from several people in the area.
I needed a second opinion on a report I received from a dealership while get my annual inspection. I was told that there was rust on my chassis and it was recommended I take the truck off the road and either junk it or sell it for parts! This was a real shock because having purchased this vehicle new, I have always kept it in garage when not in use. It has received rough treatment because I use it to plow snow on our long driveway and work with it in our woods on rough paths to collect firewood.
I took a look for myself the following day and I did I.D. one rusted area on the frame but it was relatively small.
Eli agreed to take a look and assess it if I were to bring in. Both he and an assistant looked over the entire undercarriage while it was up on a lift, each with flashlights looking over every area underneath. Conclusion: Eli said there was that hole I observed. His words: " I dont like that but otherwise all the rest of your frame is fine", and he recommended a welding company in the area. He said he didnt think he ever met the owner but had seen their work and it was excellently and expertly done.
Im happy to report that I got my truck out of the welding shop yesterday afternoon. The welding company owner declared everything was fine and ready to be picked up!
I looked under the truck this morning and understand why Eli recommended this single company; the completed job was,indeed excellently and expertly done!
If and when I ever need anything more done with this truck, Im going back to Eli and Fleet Service Center, New Paltz!
I also want to add that Kathleen, Elis secretary, was a delight to interact with, setting up the appointment and speaking with while waiting for Elis evaluation!
